L etter from the editor Dear Readers,
Sweet Summer save us! Let the warm breezes gently rock us into slumber. Allow the stars to tuck us in at night while the moon shines its glowing light. Rolling hills of lush green are part of our lifescape. Step into a carefree world and experience simplicity. Hear the movement of nature, close your eyes and listen to the essence of the season. Tall green trees of splendor remain the backdrop of a picturesque view spotted with wildflowers along the way. Nature is free, it is at our doorstep, we just need to open the door, no luggage needed. Subscribe to the outdoors, sign up for a lifetime, it is the best medicine and it does not cost a thing. It is your private repertoire, the songbirds are your symphony, the crickets keeping time, and the frogs are croaking in unison. Nature’s melody is at its best in Summer’s soft loft. It is in the balance of nature, that we can learn how to keep the pace in the process of living. Time is nigh, don’t let the Summer go by, without being kissed by the sun. Set your sail to a new adventure and you will find the discovery of life’s possibilities are endless. Yours in health,

Signature Profile Meet Dr. Patrick Baker with Patients Wyatt and Blake
Introducing one amazing individual and Doctor who has a passion for healing people and helping them to obtain a healthier lifestyle through chiropractic care and nutrition. Dr.Patrick Baker and his brother, Dr. Paul Baker have helped people change the course of their lives for over 20 years now one patient at a time. There is no health problem too big or small, in fact Dr. Patrick has been able to help people with some of the most challenging health issues. Many testimonials have graced the pages of this magazine to let people know that they too can live a pain free life. Everyone usually has a story at some point, where something happened to them, with or without an incident that left them wondering what to do next and how would they fix a problem they were facing with their health. My story is unusual but not to some who had a tough time weathering through the harsh brutal winter. I had fallen on the ice and fractured my rib, my husband pleaded with me to go to his family Doctor as I did and he recommended surgery, because I had developed a mass where the injury was and it needed to be removed. Determined not to go through with the surgery, I discussed the problem with Dr. Patrick, he examined my ribs and began to proceed with an adjustment. I felt a huge release within my rib cage and a very wonderful sensation that ran throughout my body. I thanked him for the adjustment, I remember feeling very different as I headed home to get some rest. The next morning as I was getting ready to start my day, I was shocked when I noticed the mass was gone, it had completely disappeared! Continued on pg. 5

for the Real World with Sage Woman
Sage Woman is an Ordained Minister, Shamanic Priestess and Spiritual Life Coach. She is also a gifted writer and author. In a busy world, we all struggle at some point to find balance and to heal from old wounds. Let Sage answer any question you might have to help guide you along your path of self discovery and healing. Email your question to infinity@sednamarketing. net or send a letter to Infinity Magazine, 1710 Maplewood Dr. Lebanon, Ohio 45036. You may remain anonymous if you wish. Infinity will print Sage’s answers in the upcoming issues. Not all advice is applicable to all situations. Infinity has the right to refuse any information that would not be in accordance with our Mission Statement and the standards of our publication. Our next issue is August/September, the deadline to participate and ask your question is July 10th. Dear Sage Woman, I can be my own worst critic. How do I turn my negative and limiting thoughts and words around towards being positive? Thank you, R.A. ________ Dear R.A., Thank you for bringing this question to the column. This subject has been on my mind and I am planning a workshop on Conscious Language soon. We are hardest on ourselves due to past conditioning of lack and limiting beliefs. The magic is in free will. We are able, if we choose, to get out of our own way and make empowering choices in our thoughts, words and actions. Staying present is one way of controlling our thoughts and words. When we choose to be aware
4
of each moment, we become masters of our mind. We can then use our words as our wand, creating positive and uplifting thoughts and words. I always picture myself holding a magic wand and when I think and speak, during those moments, I become aware of the fact that I am creating my world. For a long time I have been aware of the power of the words each of us use. If we say something out loud enough, we eventually come to believe it. We can use that either way, positively or negatively. Conscious language helps us identify limiting beliefs, and helps us turn them around to serve our highest choices. When we choose language that is supportive, positive and affirms what we hope to experience, be, do, and create, we will begin to see our world outside of us shift. Using disempowering language like “I should” or “I can’t,” gives our personal power away. Creating from fear or doubt stops the flow of the universe. When we take the time to make simple changes in our thoughts and words, we will notice the Universe supporting us in limitless ways. It becomes exciting when noticing how much you can shift and create with your language alone. One of the most powerful expressions we can use is: “I am”. What we say after “I am,” creates who you are as an individual. Choose to say only positive expressions of who you are and let go of any negative or limiting talk that isn’t in line with who you choose to be. Instead of “I must,” “I want,” “I need,” “I should,” “I shouldn’t,” use, “I choose,” “I can” and “I desire.” The latter list come from a place of mastery for your own life.
June / July 2015
Continued from pg. 3 Lastly take the word “try” out of your language all together. You are either going to do it or not. Just Do It! Our awareness of all things we are conscious of being is the tapestry of our life. Our language is found in every thread and fiber of our reality. Once we take full responsibility for creating our life, we become conscious of how our words, thoughts and actions show up in our world. Be kind to yourself, stay present and remember, your words are your wand. Create consciously. Become your best friend instead of critic. Blessing to you and your journey. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Baker and his wonderful staff for changing my life and taking care of a serious situation that could have caused me a lifetime of misery and pain. He is truly a gifted Doctor that cares about everyone, he is a treasure to all who know him, he helps to heal the family as a whole, from infant to adult. I wanted to ask Dr. Baker a couple of questions to inform our readers about Chiropractic care and how it can benefit the entire family. My first question was stated as this, “What advice could you give parents that would help them to understand how important Chiropractic adjustments are to their children’s health and well being?” His reply was, “Children are very active, they have falls and slips which is enough trauma to the spine, causing misalignments. Getting regular adjustments keeps them healthy, happy and strong. The next question was, “If you could tell our readers one reason why Chiropractic care is paramount to their health, what would it be? His reply, ”Chiropractic care is a great vehicle to maximize your health, it is cost saving, time saving and stress saving. Tune in to watch Dr. Patrick Baker and Dr. Paul Baker on TV Fox 19 the first Saturday of every month, they can answer your questions about pain and health conditions. Secret Splendor in Paradise by Rev. Gary Pennington
No, this article is not about a sexy adventure in Hawaii… although; this secret practice may be used for almost any good purpose, even sexy adventures.
in Hawaii… or Rabbit Hash, Kentucky (the location is up to you) NATURE AS MEDICINE
•Connect with money and abundance
Maybe you read about the medical experiment with high blood pressure that was conducted in New York City? One group with hypertension was given medication. Another group was instructed to spend about an hour a day in Central Park simply sitting or walking and experiencing nature. I’m sure you are way ahead of me. The group that spent time in nature actually reduced their high blood pressure as much or more than those taking the medication. Powerful, right? This thing with nature can be amped-up to an almost unlimited dynamic level that can allow us to transform our health, our abundance, and our relationships.
•Provide you with moment by moment guidance
RETURN TO PARADISE
•Experience Secret Splendor with that “special one”
•Studies tell us that we have about sixty thousand
GET READY Make a mental note, or better yet scribble some notes about this Secret Splendor practice that you may apply almost anywhere and anytime. The personal process of Secret Splendor gives you a powerful way to: •Bring about healing, physical, mental-emotional •Reduce your weight •Transform troubling relationships

thoughts a day, and that eighty percent of them are negative. Then we learn that the mind, especially the unconscious mind, runs everything, whether it looks or feels that way or not. •It works like this. Whatever we love, we empower. Whatever we fear or hate, we empower; and whatever we empower, we attract. This information is both wonderful and terrifying. •When my life doesn’t work very well, I remember that forty-eight-thousand of my daily negative thoughts (eighty percent of sixty thousand) are playing havoc with my life, and then I am really motivated to do something about it. Returning to Paradise through Secret Splendor is what I do. SECRET SPLENDOR IN PARADISE 1. As you face a difficult situation with your health, finances, or relationship, begin the process of Secret Splendor as you take three deep breaths and hold each one for a count of five. Breathing more deeply always speeds the process of positive transformation, and we can agree that speed is good. 2. Incorporate your previous experiences in nature as you pretend that you are experiencing nature right now. Remember, the unconscious mind cannot tell the difference between an actual vacation trip to the Bahamas and a trip that you simply imagine. For the moment, let go of complaining about the fact that your body is not in the Virgin Islands or at the Grand Canyon, and be content with the fact that your Creative Mind is there in an instant. 3. For the moment, let go of trying to make anything happen. Let go of trying to accomplish or achieve anything. Your mind will try to talk you out of this, but it is safe to let go. 4. Relax and pretend that you are looking at the sun through the leaves of a tree. The leaves of the tree provide just enough protection so that you can experience the sun beaming and warming you without the need for sunglasses. Feel the light of the sun beaming into and through you as your own inner light rushes to meet it. As the wind gently causes the tree to sway, begin to take in the new unhurried rhythm of calm and peace. Trees have a great deal to teach us about the power of inner stillness.
Infinity
5. Continue to focus gently on the beam of light from the sun as you appreciate the green of the leaves of the tree. You may become aware of the fresh air as you continue deeper breathing. Even as you focus upon the warming light, you are aware of a body of water nearby. The power of the elements of nature are now yours. 6. Repeat the statement, Gratitude, Compassion, Infinite Peace. Repeat it three or four times as you let go of trying to fix, change or control your body, your finances, or the relationship that you are experiencing. Repeat step six frequently. NO PROBLEM IN PARADISE Your mind will tell you that you have a serious problem and that you must do something, and that what you are doing in Secret Splendor is doing nothing! Remember that the doing process in Secret Splendor is in the non-doing. The small mind never knows what to do in these situations except to introduce us to struggle and worry. The Greater Mind accomplishes without effort. Return to Paradise.

A LIIFT Healing
Which Surprised Me by Brian Eastman
As a LIIFT practitioner, I am used to seeing quick healings in my clients. I am used to seeing children and teens accomplish complete turn-abouts within a day or two. Usually it takes a bit longer for an adult to experience such a turn-about. What happened to Gina (all names have been changed) really surprised me. A couple of weeks ago, Gina visited me for her first LIIFT session. With LIIFT, a client never has to talk about or re-live what has happened. Even after this session, Gina had told me nothing about herself or her situation. But I did know this: Gina had released much pain and trauma during her session. And we had eradicated some truly non-functional Belief Statements in her Internal Operating Software and replaced them with Belief Statements which are far more likely to generate a happy, peaceful life. We replaced “I must give and give and give until there is nothing of me left,” with “I take care of my needs and wants, and then I consider whether to assist others.” We replaced “Other peoples’ needs and wants must always come first,” with “My needs and wants come first.”
June / July 2015
We then replaced “I must never say No,” and “I am uncomfortable saying No,” with “It is right, safe, OK, and important that I say No easily, and I do.” We also replaced “I must always explain and justify when I say No,” with “I say No easily, free of any need to explain.”
He has openings available in LIIFT Healing Groups. Brian is available to lead LIIFT training seminars and LIIFT Prosperity Workshops throughout North America. Contact Brian at 513.541.1257 or brian. eastman@LIIFT.info.
When we ended the session. Gina said that she felt much better. At 7.30 the next morning my desk-work was interrupted by a phone call from Gina. She was sobbing. Through her sobs, she explained. “After I got home last night, my adult daughter, Christy came to my house and started demanding money again. “And I said ‘NO!’” “I have never said ‘No’ to Christy before!” Gina went on. “I have always given in to her demands. But I just couldn’t do it this time . . . I just couldn’t say ‘Yes.’” Gina told me the rest. “After I told her ‘No,’ Christy started cursing me, throwing and breaking things. So I called the police and they walked her out of the house and told her to leave.

“I’ve never done that before either! Now I’m catching hell from my ex-husband for not giving her the money. But I just couldn’t say ‘Yes’ to her!” Gina needed to hear some supportive words that would help her understand that she had accomplished a healthy change which would bring more peace into her life. I guided her through two LIIFT Distress Releases. She was able to see how much she had changed in less than 12 hours - from someone who was regularly bullied by her child, to someone who easily could and did say, “No!” And that’s the way it ought to be. Learn To Think Like a Hypnotist And Discover a Whole New You
by William L. Molitor, BCH, CI Your thoughts are far more powerful than you may understand. Every emotion that you feel is created by a thought. Every physical action you take is created by a thought. We have conscious thoughts and subconscious thoughts. Without an understanding of the difference between the two you may find it virtually impossible to create a positive change in your life.
clients how to select thoughts that best promote the outcome that they desire. Since it is impossible to erase anything in the subconscious mind a hypnotist can help guide their clients in a way that allows them to create new thoughts that can easily replace the old habitual thoughts. That is why so many people have experienced rapid changes with the use of professional hypnosis.
As a Hypnotist I work with many people every year that tell me that the anxiety and stress they feel in their life has become such a distraction to them that they find it more and more difficult to function. Researchers have found that most anxieties and stresses are created by our own thoughts. When you learn how to have a positive influence over your thoughts you can control your level of anxiety and stress. Anything that we do with repetition will become a habit, thinking is no exception. When you make a conscious effort to choose your thoughts, you can quickly and easily create new habits. Learning how to use the natural state of hypnosis is the quickest and easiest way for you to gain this control.
Even though some people still see hypnosis as some kind of mind control and some hypnotists still promote hypnosis as mystical or magical it is never the less becoming one of the most sought after techniques for creating personal change. Many doctors and counselors now refer their clients to professional hypnotists for many issues such as pain management, stress, anxiety, fears, and a multitude of habits such as eating, smoking, nail biting and hair pulling, just to name a few. The demand for certified hypnotists all around the world has been increasing at a substantial rate. Many more certified hypnotists will be needed to fill the demand for this emerging profession.
Your thoughts are at the core of each and every one of your habits, good or bad. This is why it is important to learn how to make certain the thoughts that you are choosing clearly represent the new habit that you wish to create. It is important to understand that when you are attempting to stop a habit such as smoking, nail biting or over eating what you are really doing is creating a new habit, and to make these changes permanent they need to be in your subconscious mind. Again, that is why learning the power of hypnosis is extremely beneficial. When I speak of the power that hypnosis has I am referring to the natural ability that you as an individual have to tap into the unlimited potential of your subconscious mind and the capability to program or sometimes even reprogram your own thoughts. A professional hypnotist teaches his/her

As awareness of alternative medical treatments continues to rise, hypnosis training will be in even higher demand. In particular, people looking for non-invasive, drug-free ways of losing weight, breaking habits and managing stress and anxiety will turn to hypnotherapy. Schools offering quality training that leads to a certification in hypnosis by reputable organizations such as the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) are widespread throughout the US and abroad. A wide variety of professionals seek out training in hypnosis, from doctors, nurses and dentists to psychotherapists, social workers and counselors. The largest groups of people seeking out professional hypnosis training are people like you who are interested in learning how to take back control of their own lives. So the next time when you want to create a change in your life consider using hypnosis. Whether it

E ssential for Summer: Lavender by Tina Weisenberger, R.Ph.
Growing up, my children often made fun of my first aid mantra, “Put lavender on it! However, the essential oil bottle has been passed and it’s wonderful to see my daughter as a mother and healer to her family, both two legged and four legged using Lavender on them. The name Lavender comes from the Latin word lavare which means to wash. It has been used for thousands of years since ancient Rome and Greece in the baths, and in oils in funerary practices. The Egyptians used it during mummification. During the Renaissance, it was used to repel the plague. In recent times, studies have shown that it does indeed have antibacterial properties and is even effective against MRSA, an antibiotic resistant staph infection. Lavender is analgesic, antibacterial, sedative, and a non-toxic insect repellant. It is a must have for every medicine cabinet, first aid kit and carry on luggage. Here are just a few of the ways you can use Lavender essential oil:
12
Sunburn, minor burns: Mix a few drops in Aloe vera gel and apply topically. It will decrease inflammation and pain. Insect bites, stings: Applied topically it will decrease itching and inflammation. Insomnia: Apply topically or to bed clothes or use with a room diffuser Stress: apply to temples, use with a room diffuser, or add to bath water Headaches and Pain: Apply topically to temples or to the area of pain Minor cuts: Applied topically it is antibacterial. Studies have shown it to even be effective against a resistant bacterial infection. Add 1 drop to pea size amount of antibiotic cream and apply to a clean cut.
June / July 2015
Lice Repellant: Apply a few drops to hair brush and brush through the hair or add 2 drops to the shampoo in your hand and shampoo. Lavender does not kill lice or nits.

Fleas and tick repellant: Apply several drops directly to clothes or skin or pet fur or apply as a lavender spray
Insect Repellant: 1 teaspoon skin lotion 3 drops lavender essential oil 2 drops citronella essential oil Mix in your hand and apply to any exposed areas. Sunburn Treatment: 1 teaspoon Aloe Vera gel (alcohol free) 5 drops of Lavender essential oil Mix in your hand and apply to the sunburned area.

BTestimonial aker Chiropractic Nothing was found and again I was diagnosed with Pleurisy. After dealing with all this for well over a month, I was desperate to find out why I kept having shortness of breath, pain, and tightness in my chest. It almost felt like a balloon was being blown up in my chest.
Bill Buzek, Terri Buzek and Dr. Paul Baker “It started on February 16th when I went to a local area medical clinic with symptoms of extreme fatigue, fever and coughing. I was examined, swabbed and diagnosed with Type B Flu. The following Sunday, I was experiencing severe chest pains and pressure. I was taken to the ER where they took two chest x-rays, an EKG and did blood work. They diagnosed me with Pleurisy which is inflammation of the tissues that line the lungs and chest cavity. I was told the Pleurisy was a result of my coughing from the Flu. Nearly three weeks later on March 13th, I went to Urgent Care with severe chest pains, pressure and shortness of breath. I had two more chest x-rays taken, another EKG and more blood work. I was then sent back to the hospital for a CT scan with a dye to check for blood clots in my lungs. After all of these tests, x-rays and scans, the diagnosis was once again Pleurisy from the coughing associated with the Flu even though the coughing had stopped. A week later, the same symptoms I had been experiencing were getting worse. It felt at times as if I were having a heart attack. The ER doctor sent me to a cardiologist where I had a stress test on a treadmill and an ultrasound of my heart.
14
I called Dr. Paul Baker at Baker Chiropractic and Wellness on a Saturday afternoon and left a message that I needed his advice. He called me back Saturday evening very concerned and suggested I meet him on a Sunday at his office for an evaluation. Within five minutes of my visit, Dr. Baker diagnosed a hiatal hernia. He explained how the hiatal hernia was the source of the pressure in my chest. He also described how acid reflux from the hiatal hernia was causing sharp pains. Dr. Baker confidently assured me he could fix the hernia but warned it would be a bit uncomfortable. With both of his hands, he put pressure under my ribcage and slowly pushed the hernia back down thru my diaphragm. When I stood up, I had instant relief! Both the pain and pressure I had felt for over a month was gone. After many sleepless nights in fear that I was having a heart attack, after multiple visits to the hospital, urgent care and even a cardiologist, Dr. Baker diagnosed and fixed the pain that I was having in one 20- minute Sunday afternoon visit to his office! He continues to check my hernia when I come in for my regular visits and it seems to be fine. In thinking back when I had the Flu, I remember coughing so hard at one point that it felt like something ripped in my stomach. I’m now convinced this was the start of the hiatal hernia. I am both amazed and extremely disappointed that with all of the x-rays, CT scans, blood work and series of other tests over a period of 40+ days, a correct diagnosis could not be made. Equally shocking were my medical bills. The cost of

Positive Confession by Wayne Holmes Here is a different take on confession. One problem with confession is the negative connotation associated with it. We confess what we did wrong. What about the things we did right? Why not confess the positive things in our life? For instance, “I confess I did a kind deed for someone in need,” or “I confess I took time to listen to a friend’s problems and allowed them to cry on my shoulder.” Sometimes we get so focused on the negative that we generate more of the same into our lives. Why not concentrate on the positive instead of the negative? And, why not confess the things we wish we had done differently in a positive way? Instead of saying something was a mistake, why not explain that what I’m giving, to myself or to another, is simply nonjudgmental feedback? After all, we could be right, or we could be wrong. At times the reality lies between the extremes of right and wrong. The openness we extend to one another and to ourselves allows for growth. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that some religions

concentrate more on the negative aspects of our lives instead of the positive. Guilt, shame, criticism, and threats of punishment are used by some religions to try to keep their members in line. I don’t know of many religions or societies that have adopted the use of positive affirmations as a tool to reform and restore individuals who have stepped outside of acceptable behavior. One rare story that makes me think that positive reinforcement can work comes from the Babemba tribe of South Africa, and I was introduced to this story from something I read or heard from Dr. Wayne Dyer. Instead of judgment and punishment, when a member of the Babemba tribe steps out of line, the tribe comes together to restore that member to wholeness. They do this by gathering in a large circle around the one in need of correction, and one by one they tell all the good, positive, loving, and caring things that the “violator” has done over the years. Negative stories are not allowed, and neither is lying or embellishing the truth. Sarcasm is also not permitted. The ceremony can last for days as each member of the tribe helps to heal the individual by sharing true stories of positive affirmations. Acts of kindness, honor, bravery, generosity, and love are shared at length and in detail. Imagine what a difference a positive form of punishment could mean to a person. Instead of judging, we can choose to love. Instead of pointing our fingers, we can open our hearts. Instead of alienating, we can choose to restore. Instead of seeing an enemy, we can choose to see a family member. Not only will this work on a tribal level, but it will also work on an individual level. The next time we “mess up,” let’s try loving ourselves instead of judging ourselves. Oops, I blew it again, might be our initial response, but we can come back with, but I am still a divine being made in the image of The Divine. I will treat myself the way The Divine treats me, with infinite love, compassion, and gratitude. A friend of mine uses that phrase to help people heal, and it’s a mantra that should be in our positive arsenal: Infinite love, compassion, and gratitude; Infinite love, compassion, and gratitude; Infinite

Spinach
An Amazing Superfood!
It looks as though Popeye was right when he declared that eating spinach builds strong muscles and so much more! Spinach has incredible benefits for your health, this green leafy vegetable is available throughout the year and is a rich source of antioxidants. Spinach is low in calories and a very versatile food, it can be eaten raw in a smoothie, salad, added to dips, sauteed for dishes and can be used in a variety of soups. It is wise to choose organic spinach because of the pesticides that are used. An excellent source of iron, spinach provides the body with good energy. With vitamins A, C, folate and magnesium as well, spinach helps to lower high blood pressure and support good cholesterol. There are anti-inflammatory properties in spinach

which can help with arthritis and osteoporosis. Research has shown that eating spinach may slow the aging process and decline in brain function. Packed with flavonoids, spinach can protect the body from free radicals, flavonoids act as an anti-cancer substance in the body. High in fiber, spinach also promotes a healthy digestive tract. For beautiful skin and hair, adding spinach to your diet helps to keep hair healthy and skin glowing with the high amount of vitamin C that is in this incredible superfood! There is surprisingly more potassium in one cup of spinach than in a cup of banana. If you want to saute spinach, remember it takes about eight cups of raw spinach to equal one cup when cooked. Spinach can be stored easily, do not wash, excess moisture can cause it to wilt. Place in large plastic

We Are Souls On A Journey by Michael McAdams We make our way as souls on a journey to a destination of our own creation. The corridor through which we travel in our quest to complete our journey is time. Time is an element that requires production. Within our thought system our conscious perception of time requires attention but is a concept lost on many as they are distracted and many times overwhelmed by day to day events that pull them to and fro. In reality these events are doors being opened and opportunities being given for advancement as we make our way in this existence. Scientists will tell us that time as we know it does not really exist. Time is a series of moment points. As you sit reading this article at this moment the time for you is now. Two weeks ago whatever you were doing at this moment was for you now. A week from today you will be focused on a situation or endeavor that for you is happening now. The goal is to live always and forever in the eternal now. Not to say that you can’t look back and learn from things past. And man achieves his best when he is optimistic and has something to look forward to and strive for in the future. But as a matter of focus and experience in this vessel that is our physical body for the purpose of our soul’s advancement, we exist always and forever in the eternal now. Let this be your affirmation: There is no time. Thou shalt not age. I live always and forever in the eternal now. From the collection of messages and teachings received directly from spirit teachers/angels that compose Wilma Jean Jones’ upcoming book “An Angel Told Me So” comes this high teaching. Yet again this message speaks directly to all sincere seekers of truth on a personal level as each reader feels they are being addressed as they deal with what is transpiring in their lives. This message was received by Wilma on Sunday, December 20, 1998. “Challenges are assets derived from an attitude of progress. When we take hold of this concept we shift our tendencies to include those things that will evolve the soul as well as usher in activities that fulfill needs. Anytime you are undecided in affairs that are of importance, take time to include those that will avail your spiritual needs as well. Time represents the episodes that take place regardless of other options.
20
Taking charge enables the soul to manifest and to bring into view the options that will most reflect His nature and bring to light those requirements necessary to project the potential He has given in order to provide substance for its completion. Whenever the challenges are subject to His approval, one must take time to reflect into a dimension that will reveal His plan and authority given will adequately supply the means by which accomplishment can be met. Time shifts areas that need recognition until the soul is enabled to realize the importance of existing conditions, and then must face the consequences of solving them. Little disturbances of nature can be overlooked as subsequent issues that can be solved easily now that the soul has grasped the meaning of events and places them correctly in order. “Man strives to complete issues entirely on his own without the capability to focus within himself for the answers that would free the mind and bring relief. Reliance on God’s best judgments will bring to pass all that is subject to His will. Regardless of functions that require attention from time to time, authorities are standing by to accommodate requests. Although many times efforts seem to be without any foreseeable results, nevertheless advisors oversee opportunities that will open the door to allow the mind to perceive revelations that will guide your footsteps. “Render yourself therefore in order to align yourself with God’s spiritual influences and enjoy the benefits of this coming together. In many instances where recovery is a determination, God puts forth His ability to overcome circumstances and remake issues that would otherwise be neglected. Always there will be a “spirit of resurrection” that will apply so that time will allow needed changes to take place to renew avenues of travel that will afford completion of new values not yet explored. Times changes many things, but prior commitments in the spiritual realm stand firm against all that would try to eliminate its purpose. “Responsibilities begat responsibilities as always has been the case. Yet, in order to apply God’s system of organization, one must consider first the value placed on the action. The course one takes must

surely apply His concepts to survive and bring into reality the truth for its existence. Cause imposes great restraints that need not be if one is to enjoy the benefits He has offered in exchange for our ability to see past indiscretions as opportunities afforded so that we can repair existing conditions without the burden of summoning help to eliminate what has already been rectified and forgiven. Do not carry self-imposed burdens that cause distress and slow and degrade the progress already attained. “The spoken word ofttimes becomes a symbol of indiscretions that lie beneath the surface to protect and bear a resemblance to forgiven attitudes that reflect the true personality however noble, but are unable to direct energies to filter out incoming thoughts that are of themselves, self-imposed. Regardless of circumstances, see the results in terms of the soul’s atonement and not the physical manifestations that can distort and defeat the soul’s progress. God has eliminated the need for sacrifice beyond the redemptive power of His Son Jesus. To ask for more than what He has already made available to us, would be to nullify His great commission. Therefore put forth and utilize your ability to relate to His Spirit, to consume within yourself the strength and knowledge to pursue this life’s issues confident that where His Spirit takes you, His goodness will see that it is for your advantage as the soul recognizes it’s place and what it must endure and overcome by applying His principles, power, and authority.”

A Good Sense of Humor Awakens the Spirit by Elaine Hruska, MA In the Edgar Cayce readings there are hundreds of references to the importance of joy, laughter, and mirth that come from having a good sense of humor. Personally, on the conscious level, Cayce himself was known for his sense of humor and his love of story-telling. Harmon Bro, in his doctoral dissertation wrote that Cayce was probably one of the most frustrated persons of his time because he wanted to tell stories and talk to people, but they wanted him to keep quiet, go to sleep, and give a reading! Even in the dispensing of information during a reading, Cayce sometimes made joking comments on himself. In one reading, for instance, he requested material on the subject matter for a lecture he’d planned to give and was advised not to be too technical; otherwise, he might be considered by his audience to be peculiar or strange. The reading went on to state that too many people considered him crazy enough already! Here are just a few examples of humor from the readings:
Q. Which shoulder should be taped? A. The one that’s hurt! (1710-5) Q. Can it [bone cracking in head and feet] be permanently corrected? A. ...If you could stop getting old—but we can’t stop time yet! (1158-26) Q. Am I slightly mentally ill? A. ...Every individual is slightly mentally ill to someone else. (5210-1) Q. What causes bad disposition? Give treatment. A. If the body had a more agreeable husband its disposition would be better! (2654-2) Q. Have I ever contacted my husband [2493] in any other experience; if so in what way? A. He bought you! Doesn’t he act like it at times? (1222-1)
Q. Who will aid me most in my work and daily life? A. God! (2444-1) Q. Is it possible to secure a reading regarding conditions and my sojourn, if any, on that planet [Jupiter]? A. If you can understand Jupiterian environs and languages, yes. (826-8) Q. Is there any way of sleeping on the back without snoring? A. Not that has been invented yet! (1861-18) Q. Just how should the Bromo-Quinine be taken? A. Swallow it. (528-15)
22
Q. Any further advice on body in general? A. You’d better take a rest if you don’t want a long rest! (3436-3) In San Diego, California, at the 2014 meeting of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, Dr. Lee Berk, who is a psychosomatic medicine specialist at Loma Linda University’s School of Medicine, presented the newest research study on laughter (Houston Chronicle, May 4, 2014). The brainwaves of 31 university students were measured while they watched videos, whose subject matter was either comical or upsetting. The funny videos included a range of humorous and slapstick scenes—no dark or derogatory humor
June / July 2015
was presented—while the upsetting ones included excerpts from horror movies. Shortly after the laughter started, when the comic videos were viewed, gamma brainwave activity was noted in the students’ brains, similar to the waves produced by experienced meditators when they reach a meditative state. So the humorous videos brought their subjects’ brainwaves to a close approximation of what might be generated in mindfulness—a quiet, peaceful state similar to meditation. The neurotransmitter dopamine, described as “the fuel of the brain’s reward circuitry,” is present with gamma waves, producing a pleasurable sensation that makes us want to return again and again to that state. Because humor is within range for everyone— whereas meditation may not be, said Dr. Berk—the conclusion of the study would suggest that when we engage in regular doses of humor, we perhaps are reaping the already well-established benefits of meditation, since the patterns of both appear to be similar. Cayce often encouraged individuals in their personal readings to cultivate a sense of humor, to see the ridiculous in situations, to read the comics, and to appreciate the optimistic, joking side of life. Of course, this works both ways, as one reading mentioned: “...in raising hope, in inspiring others, the entity may succeed the most in inspiring and in raising the vibrations in self...” (3197-1) For another individual the “ability to laugh at adversity when others would cry” would become a “saving grace.” (1991-1) Employing a sense of humor at appropriate times and in appropriate ways—not to mock others—can also defuse an unpleasant situation. Several times the readings advised seeing the ridiculous in even the most sacred things, and reminded us that in all of creation God has given us alone the ability to laugh.
explains: “Remember that a good laugh, an arousing even to what might in some be called hilariousness, is good for the body, physically, mentally, and gives the opportunity for greater mental and spiritual awakening.” (2647-1) Healing relates to wholeness and balance—and humor can be a way of bringing us to that alignment within ourselves, releasing tension and creating a better barrier-free communication with others. It might also be helpful for us to attempt to follow this simple advice: “...don’t forget the recipe of making three people laugh every day!” (798-1) Excerpt from the Winter, 2014 issue of Venture Inward Newsletter, available to A.R.E. members at Edgarcayce.org/members. About the Author: Elaine Hruska is a therapist for the Edgar Cayce A.R.E. Health Center & Spa located in Houston, Texas. Shifting Gears
by Cynthia M. Brown
The summer solstice has passed and now the full brilliance of summer is upon us. I have been thinking a great deal about change. We watch the seasons change each year and it is almost innocuous. The complexity and miraculous nature of these changes escapes our notice. Our children grow and change and it seems as if we only really see it when we look at photographs form past vacations, recitals etc. Our parents and grandparents age and slow down and we only seem to notice it when a health condition complicates their lives. We live in a constant state of change and yet, when something BIG happens, a death, a change in jobs, life partners, a move, we feel, somehow unsettled, shaken, unanchored. It is often said that the only constant in life IS CHANGE. AS I start to look at how much change surrounds me and moves through my life, I am inclined to believe that is the truth. It feels as if
24
I am just so deep in the sea of change, drifting on its unending waves, that I no longer notice, unless a storm comes up and threatens to sink my ship. I begin to feel like I am missing so much of my life because I do not notice the small, seemingly imperceptible changes-my son’s height, his thinning hair; my own graying temples… How much of each season do I really slow down and experience and appreciate? I look back at this very harsh winter and recall the beauty of the snow covered woods and remember how I prayed for spring… What did I miss as I wished away the present moment? I am thinking now, when did the sun begin to lighten the sky at 5 a.m.? I can’t recall. When did the trees fully leaf and the canopy darken the hillsides in their perpetual summer shade? When will the cool return, signaling the change of the season and reveal the

forest’s true, brilliant, fiery cloak of colors? Will I be aware enough to witness and appreciate it? So, as the July sun beats down and life slows to the rich summer pace, I promise myself to make a conscious change in myself-to really notice the small changes that take place each and every day; the changes that only a conscious awareness can perceive; the small shifts that, over time, shape who I am and what I experience. See you on the front porch of summer. Lemonade anyone?
Summer Cycles
by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger
Summer will be with us shortly, and I am sure we are all delighted to be out of a very cold winter and a very wet spring. Summer is truly a gift for us all – a chance to slow down, rest, and move gracefully through long, sun filled days. Spring, as we learned last time from our wonderful animals, is a time of dynamic growth, activity, and replenishment. It is Nature’s recovery time, where plants awaken their life force in bursts of growth, feeding the animals that have survived the cold, dark winter time. When I think of summer, I think of how this life force slows and steadies, and how the animals respond in kind as well. Isn’t it interesting that summer, in fact, is Nature’s way of providing all with a time to slow down and enjoy life? Our dogs and horses have shed their winter coats and are sleek and shiny in the morning sun. Our middle child Lukas, a tri colored Basset, goes out into the newly mowed yard and flops down in the sun with a huge sigh. He is sound asleep in minutes. Our horses have had their morning dust bath, have filled their bellies with hay, and will soon lie down in the sun to doze. Sophia, our barn cat, was stretched out on our front steps for a morning nap in the sun. When I work from home, I get a chance to observe these natural
Infinity
rhythms in our animals, and how they vary with the seasons. I also notice how the birds and squirrels have changed their behavior as well. The birds have mated and hatched their young. Some have moved on, and others – our normal residents – have settled into their respective trees. They greet each day with their song. The squirrels are still chasing each other up and down and around the trees, but the edginess is gone, replaced with more of a sense of play. We humans also respond to these rhythms, even though we isolate ourselves into office buildings and air conditioned houses, away from Nature’s sun and warmth. We slow down, we take time off to enjoy ourselves, and life just seems to go slower and steadier from June to August. We unconsciously respond to Nature, in spite of ourselves. Nature has given us Summer as a time for us to slow down, rest, and enjoy life. Observe your pets, do you see them respond differently to different seasons of the year? Take time this summer to lay in the warm grass with your dog, to bask in the early morning sunlight with your cat. Much as I love my horses, though, I think I’ll skip the morning dust bath! First of all let me begin by resolving one of life’s great mysteries for you. It isn’t really the heat, it’s the humidity. At least, astrologically I think that makes a good metaphor for anything that might go haywire in your life in June or July. Heat is a fairly straightforward concept, but humidity is harder to understand -- but it can make you just as uncomfortable. That’s a bit like the astrological conditions that we face this June and July. The planets are all still doing their usual job, but many of them are being affected by retrogrades. Simply put, a retrograde is when a planet (from our perspective on Earth) seems to be traveling backwards in its path across the sky. It can have an effect on how the planet functions, but when you get right down to it a Saturn transit can be fairly unpleasant and a Venus transit can be fairly nice, whether the planets in retrograde or not. So in some ways the usual relatively clear-cut effect of any given planetary transit against a point in your birth chart can be a little trickier to interpret when the transiting planet is in retrograde motion. Got that? Simple? Well, not really. But like heat and/ or humidity, you’ll feel it. When it comes to major discomfort, the usual culprits are transits from Saturn and Uranus. Saturn is currently retrograde and during June and July it travels backwards from the first degree of Sagittarius to the last degrees of Scorpio. Retrogrades like this are kind of tricky if they’ve affected a major placement in your birth chart. Think of a major transit from Saturn as being like being hit by a truck, then the truck backs over you, then the truck goes forward again. If you have any important placements in your birth chart aspecting
26
the late degrees of Scorpio, that truck is now backing over you. Was anything in life you particularly being restricted back last October to December? That was probably Saturn, and that transit is coming around again. Meanwhile: Uranus is still the master of weird circumstances , but now it is being supported by a helpful trine from Jupiter in Leo. Even though that’s a fairly harmonious aspect between these two, that’s still a big amount of weird energy for anyone to deal with. The Jupiter Uranus aspect, plus Venus, is why the next two months maybe a particularly good time for you if you are a fire sign, and could be really great if you are a Leo. Venus in fur is Leo on the 6th of June and travels all the way to 0 degree Virgo until it turns with her grade on July 25th Calma at which time he traveled all the way back to 14 degrees Leo. Long story short? Leos will be reaping the benefits of Venus until October -- which is an unusually long time for such a normally fast planet. Speaking of retrograde, Mercury goes direct on June 11th, but remains in its “shadow period” until the 27th. This is the time when Mercury is going forward and is still reclaiming territory it lost since the retrograde started. In theory, Mercury is still somewhat debilitated at this time. Frankly I get tired of and annoyed with everyone blaming everything on Mercury retrograde though, so I tend to go ahead and ignore the shadow period. Then (of course!) my communications and short trips and agreements tend to go wrong anyway, and I remember “oh right... The shadow. Darn.”
June / July 2015
Neptune also turns retrograde on the 11th. Frankly Neptune is already weird enough already without me having to get into great detail about how the retrograde will affect it. Besides, it’s not like a retrograde renders a planet completely non-functional. For example, Pluto has a general rulership over death and destruction, and it has been retrograde for a couple of months now. A quick check of the news will show you that death and destruction haven’t exactly gone out of business during that time. Finally, Mars enters Cancer on the 24th of June. This is generally considered to be a fairly problematic placement for the planet Mars. Mars likes straightforward action and adventure. Cancer is more likely to enjoy staying at home and hiding under the bed. When you put the two of them together the results can be decidedly mixed. When it comes to taking bold new initiatives, you may find you have a harder time than average mustering the energy, getting it started, or have difficulty not collapsing into a ball of sobbing angst when things don’t go your way. Where the planets are is one thing, but the aspects they form to each other is what really give them power. Here are some of the major aspects happening in June and July. The Full Moon in early June is a particularly tricky one, seeing as both the Sun and Moon are square Neptune. Take the traditional reputation the full Moons bring when it comes to emotional outbursts, and add an extra dash of uncontrolled weirdness to them. If ever there was a Full Moon where you were actually really going to run into a real life werewolf, this might be the one. However, the New Moon in Gemini on June 16th is energetic in a remarkably good way, and would be an ideal time for you to sit down and plan out what you want to see happen in your life in the following month. On July 4th the Moon is opposite Jupiter, which could make the celebrations a little more raucous than usual. On top of that, the Sun will be approaching the opposition to Pluto that day. Your judgement might be a little off, and you may have a much stronger than average urge to literally or figuratively blow something up. So please people... Let’s be careful with those firecrackers shall we? George Washington didn’t lead to revolution just to give you the right to blow your hand off.
Infinity
July new Moon in Cancer carries even more of the usual defensiveness that is so traditionally associated with Cancer coma so try not to overreact to perceive slights. Finally July ends with the new Moon in Leo. Its been a good couple of months for Leo’s in general, so if you were born under the sign of a lion maybe a little boy stirs celebration is called for. That, or maybe you should just avoid getting caught up in dramatic situations - yours or others. Remember kids: whether it’s the heater the humidity you’re complaining about, lighting a match is not likely to help the situation either way. ^ Aries, March 20 – April 19: Are we having fun or what? Well, yes we are until the bill comes due and then it’s back to work and all of a sudden it’s obvious that being “the life of the party” is a lot of fun until the bills are due. Slow down a little, will you? You don’t have to burn out OR fade away. _ Taurus, April 19 – May 20: Tourist: Yeah, that’ right.... you aren’t a Taurus any more, you’re a Tourist. One who’s constantly facing delays and reschedules and Montezuma’s Revenge and... dude, just go home. There’s more comfort to be had there than by hanging out with others and sightseeing all the time. ` Gemini, May 20 – June 21: If mental energy was a superpower, there’s no question that you’d be an Avenger by now. But with the way your head is spinning lately, you’d be The Hulk... which is great until you go off the rails. Make the effort to focus your thoughts and be more diplomatic. a Cancer, June 22-July 22: They say that money can’t buy you love or help you find real happiness. People who say that have obviously never been to eBay and seen what they have there. You should do well making money in the next two months, but don’t go nuts spending it all. b Leo, July 22 – August 22: Your energy levels are high, your self-esteem is high, and this is just the kind of time when people start to get a little jealous. Deflect it with a magnanimous gesture, a kind word, or (worst case scenario) just by ignoring it. Haters gonna hate, you know? c Virgo, August 22 – September 22: Life is a wonderful adventure and is ready to embrace you. Unless, that is, you can’t get rid of your sneaking
27
suspicions and you remain hidden in the closet. Try to avoid paranoia. d Libra, September 22 – October 23: There is likely to be a great deal of socializing and social networking for you in the next couple of months, and more than likely you will benefit from it. Then again, you sometimes tend to be too nice for your own good and people accept your charms at face value because you don’t always have the killer instincts to “close the deal” that others with your charm might have... so don’t be afraid to take advantage of it. That’s why this time around, I’m giving you twice as long a forecast as the other Signs are getting. I like you. You’re nice. Now let me keep my wallet, okay? e Scorpio, October 23 – November 21: This could be a wonderful time to extend your feelers and find new work, take a step towards self-employment, or impress your boss. Things should be generally going your way as far as figuring out “what you want to be when you grow up”... no matter what age you are. f Sagittarius, November 22–December 21: You’ve got a lot of really good and original ideas that are well worth exploring, but you might need some help with practical application. Okay, who are we kidding here? You ALWAYS need a bit of help with that, but you’ll get it because people seem to be loving you more than usual lately. g Capricorn, December 21 – January 19: You know, True Love is hard to find... but it’s worth all the hard work and waiting it takes to find it. In the meantime, there seem to be plenty of offers of something somewhat similar coming your way. Is that good enough? Well, I suppose it’s better than getting no offers at all, isn’t it? h Aquarius, January 19 – February 18: You know the old saying “hell is other people”? You’re probably way too much of a humanitarian to believe that. This two month stretch could show you that all your faith in Humanity has its rewards after all. Open your heart... but hang on to your wallet while doing so. Some of your admirers are just looking for a loan. i Pisces, February 18 – March 20: Are you taking care of yourself, and business, and all the details that

come with daily living? You’d be surprised how much better your life will run if you just do the sorting and filing. Having an efficiently functioning base will make everything else go smoother. Borrow a Virgo to help if you have to.

The Golden Charm Summer was indeed over, the Fall winds were beginning to blow and the leaves had been falling in my back yard. I came home from work, changed clothes and decided to grab a rake and start raking, I needed to work through some stress of the day. Enjoying the sunshine, I noticed a gold beam of light hit my wrist, I thought to myself, I should have taken my gold charm bracelet off. It was a gift from my Dad, it had a small gold charm that had my initial engraved on it, I just loved it, but thought it would be fine as I was not intending to stay outside very long. My neighbor came over with her new dog, she was so cute and sweet, I started petting her and my bracelet was shining in the sun again, my neighbor commented that she really liked it and said she had not seen anything quite like it before. It was getting late, I decided to just leave the huge pile of leaves until the next day as I needed to get in and start dinner. As I was washing my hands, I suddenly noticed my bracelet was on but the gold charm was gone!

I immediately went back outside searching through the pile of leaves knowing in my heart the charm had to be there. I kept carefully sifting through the leaves with my hands, to no avail, the charm was not showing up, I was very upset and knowing the sun was setting, I went back inside with a heavy heart. The very next morning I had a cup of coffee and went out to begin my search for the charm, I was determined to find it, after going through my steps from inside and out I knew it must be in the pile of leaves that I had raked the day before. Again, I was searching and could not find my beautiful charm. I had remembered telling my girlfriend about the incident the night before and she told me, whenever she had lost an item, she would pray to St. Anthony, the Saint to pray to if you have lost something and he will hear your prayer and you shall find it. I went back inside and decided to pray to St. Anthony, I knew the longer the time it would take to find it, it could perish somehow with the leaves or the grass. I prayed sincerely and went out to search again. Still, I found nothing and sadly headed into work, deciding to pray in intervals the rest of the day, I was not going to give up finding my charm. Heading home, I prayed again to St. Anthony. I drove into my driveway, got out and went to the familiar leaf pile again, this time I took the leaves and ruffled them up and threw some of them up in the air, which seemed odd to me as I was doing it, but I did it anyway for some reason. I saw a glimmer of light with the second bunch of leaves I tossed in the air, I thought it was just my imagination, but it looked like my golden charm, I looked down on the ground where the leaves fell and lo and behold there it was just gleaming in the sun! I was thrilled and very grateful that my prayers had been answered! Thank you St. Anthony! Lori Stevens
