Super Conscious Communication Opening the Door to Your Happiness

by William Molitor, BCH, CI Every day there are people just like you that are having spontaneous realizations that allow a problem or situation in their life to be understood at a new and deeper perspective. This is best known as an epiphany. In most cases these profound thoughts come to you without any warning, and with little or no conscious action on your part. Many people wonder how this occurs or why these clearer more meaningful thoughts seem to be hidden from us, to begin with. When the normal everyday chatter that is called your conscious awareness is suppressed by intentional action on your part the results can be magical. Normal “every day information” that goes unheard by your conscious awareness due to overwhelming repetition of emotionally charged thoughts is enormous. This inability to hear the information that is available yet unheard can be the difference between living a life of tranquility and living your life with the stress of being in “survival mode”. While in the survival mode the conscious mind, which has the main objective of survival, stays in predominant control and can seem at times overwhelming. Your mind is not working against you - it simply cannot hear the information that could be crucial to create peace and harmony. This information is constantly being sent out in what I call “Super Conscious Communication”. To tap into this information you must first learn to be in control of your conscious mind. This control that I refer to is not demanding or commanding. This control gives you the opportunity to choose thoughts that support your desires rather than constantly running ineffective, old programming. There are many techniques to achieve this control of your mind. The key is to fundamentally understand the process so that you can consistently apply the principles to achieve this higher awareness. Just to name a few of the more common practices that are used there is Meditation,

Prayer, Yoga, Visualization and Hypnosis. There are, of course, many more and by many different names. The most successful of these processes is Hypnosis due to the mind’s natural ability to easily reach even the deepest levels of trance. It is in this state of heightened awareness commonly referred to as trance that your mind is able to achieve highly effective communication with all the information that is available to you. This greater sense of being in control puts your conscious mind in a state of calm that allows information to flow freely. Without the constant critical scrutiny experienced in the normal states of awareness new information can be revealed. The use of hypnosis by thousands of professional hypnotists around the world has produced results that are being scrutinized with more scientific evaluation every day. Major research institutions as well as research Universities are conducting hundreds of experiments that are focused on the positive results seen with the use of hypnosis for pain management and physical healing as well as emotional healing. While in the trance state of hypnosis this Super Conscious Communication allows the information that had been hidden by all the conscious mind chatter to be experienced in a meaningful way. wrong change to signals that produce a more tranquil state. This tranquil state allows a more constant flow of meaningful information. The morning breeze is becoming crisp as well as the night, we feel the stirring of inspiration within our beings to create, to manifest our goals in whatever form they may take. As we look back on the year we see how far we have come in our growth both as humans and spiritual beings of light. Let us take this powerful energy we have within our beings, and let it rise to the highest reaches of creation to create the world we have for so long struggled for. To create that beautiful ray of light that connects all of creation into oneness, to create a new reality of grace, love, gratitude, and joy. We have worked so long to get to this point, the grand turning of the wheel, to bring us to a new year, a year of light, knowledge, and change. So my precious brothers and sisters remember when you walk in the fall and hear the sound of the leaves crunching beneath your feet, or you feel the crisp night

air on your face or you see the beauty of the changing leaves, that the journey home has come and now we are to become the blessed beings we were always created to be. Live from your heart, and learn to feel for without feeling we do not learn nor grow. I walk with you together in co-creation and partnership we will live in a new way in which we take care of our brothers and sisters, a way in which we do not close doors but rather keep them open so we may help our brothers and sisters through that door. Fall Is... by Marcia Cantrell Fall is a time when people often experience a variety of feelings, especially nostalgia. Many enjoy walks in the woods or peaceful tranquil strolls along tree lined streets. Basking in the many colors of the leaves and flowers that appear to have been chosen from the favorite paints of an artists’ pallet. It’s like the Fourth of July fireworks, only in a more grand presentation. Fall represents a time to wind down from the hectic days of summer as Mother Earth prepares for a time of slumber, a time of rest. Fall is another miracle from our Creator, another gift of life we are given as we continue our Earth journey. Fall is a season of gratitude and giving thanks. It is a time to reflect on our many blessings, more gifts from our Creator. Sadly, many are not able to see their gifts of blessings, Often our choice of seeing the negative prevents us from seeing our blessings. Regardless of the lessons we encounter in our daily lives, we always are given gifts of blessings. I invite you to enjoy this season, to see beyond God’s art work and experience the magnificent energy of Mother Earth. What are you grateful for?

The Laws of Wellness by Jean Jeffers It is time to make a change in life. Being healthy is a viable option and working toward wellness is both beneficial as well as a worthwhile endeavor. There are some common well known behaviors that favor wellness: eating a nutritious diet, exercising regularly, keeping cholesterol level at normal, and meditating to relieve stress. So what else promotes wellness? Greg Anderson, in his book, The 22 Non-Negotiable Laws of Wellness, outlines this for us. Greg was ill and faced cancer. He was told he had no more than 30 days to live. Greg believes the implementation of the 22 laws changed his life, allowing him to return to health. Seven of these non-negotiable laws of wellness as outlined by Anderson are: 1. The law of emotional choice. We’re talking about our feelings. And they are part of what makes us human. Sometimes it is necessary to have negative feelings, but being overcome by these negative feelings is unhealthy and we aim toward more positive feelings. 2. The law of creativity. Anderson says that this law affords a great potential for transformation. 3. The law of lifelong growth. Anyone, young or old, has the power to learn. 4. The law of purpose through service. Giving is good and we are rewarded for it. 5. The law of forgiveness. This is forgiving our enemies. 6. The law of gratitude. Saying thank you for blessings. 7. The law of personal peace. Truly being touched deeply by the hand of God. Let’s look at some of these laws. The law of emotional choice. Learning to be aware of our feelings, of feeling them, expressing them at times, and letting them go is an essential skill learned over a lifetime. We support our ability of emotional choice for example, when we do something positive, like say taking a dance class. In turn, we lessen anxiety, sleep better, feel more zest for life. The law of purpose through service. We know if we help

others, we will feel better. It gives us a sense of purpose, a feeling of being worthwhile. The law of forgiveness. It is a powerful force that when we hold to grudges or bitterness, we shut down. Forgiveness releases us, opens us up to positive energy. The law of gratitude enlarges us, makes us magnanimous. It allows us to see life through a new lens, to appreciate life. The law of inner peace allows for the possibility of personal peace. It is the attunement to the spiritual within us. Simple acts are what change our life. Choosing positive emotions, being grateful, forgiving, all of the laws are built on small individual acts. Together they form laws of wellness. Says Anderson, “When we align ourselves with the principles found in these laws, God’s potential will then be released within and through us, enabling us to come closer to our Divine Design. When Brooke was three months old she was diagnosed with torticollis. Torticollis is the tightening of the muscles on one side of the neck causing the baby to look in only one direction. She was referred to start physical therapy right away. During our first visit with the PT, we were told torticollis could also cause a flattening of the skull on one side or the back of the head, known as Plagiocephaly. This looked like the direction we were heading, which would result in Brooke wearing a helmet for six months; 23 hours a day.

When we started physical therapy they said it would take at least eight months to see any real improvement. Mind you, we were dealing with a very uncomfortable, fussy baby which called for many sleepless nights. More importantly, how would this condition affect her development; her motor skills. Eight months seemed like an eternity. I was so discouraged and felt really helpless. One day I was talking to our home health care nurse about Brooke’s condition and how I was feeling. She told me her neighbor’s son also had torticollis and was treated by Baker Chiropractic. She said he was much more comfortable and sleeping a lot better and recommended I give them a call. I was a little skeptical. I had heard so many different opinions of chiropractic care, but at this point was willing to try anything. I can honestly say, this is the best thing I could have done for her. After only 10 visits, there is a dramatic improvement in Brooke’s condition. She is like a totally different baby. To look at her now you would never know there was ever anything wrong with her. She holds her head straight, looks in either direction, (sleeps

through the night!!!) and is a much much happier baby. Needless to say, I am a much much happier mommy!! I recently took Brooke back to the PT and they themselves were quite impressed with the progress. Turns out, she won’t be needing that helmet after all. To go from facing eight long months of therapy, to results after 10 adjustments is such a relief and truly amazing. I was so afraid we would miss out on the joy of our baby’s first year. I cannot say enough how grateful we are to Dr. Baker and his staff. Everyone there has been so great to work with. They are always so friendly and genuinely happy to see us. As a mother of four little ones walking into a doctor’s office, that’s not usually the response I get. Thank you so much for your dedication in helping Brooke. Is Your House Haunted? by Victor Paruta I had just started the second half of my lecture on Spirit Communication in Baker Hunt’s Scudder House ballroom in Covington, Kentucky when a little boy entered the room. He waited there unacknowledged for as long as he could stand it and then without warning took a baseball bat and swung it at the leg of a student sitting in the front row. She suddenly stood up and walked away, visibly shaken. Lucky for her, the boy was a ghost and her leg was not physically injured, but she felt the impact none the less. The boy, who we later identified as Duncan Hooper, a second cousin to Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center founder Margaretta Baker Hunt, simply needed the attention any “spirited” young boy required. Duncan did not like being ignored! Throughout my many lectures in Scudder house, curious Duncan watched us quietly from the stairs leading up to the second floor but occasionally he could be quite ornery. During one of my guided meditations after my students were in a deep state of relaxation he suddenly yanked a quilt off the wall, its metal rod loudly clanging to the floor. During my classes on Spirit Photography Duncan appeared as a green or white orb in virtually every photograph my students took of “his” staircase. And once when I was sitting on the second floor landing taking notes, he approached me and asked me what I was doing. I answered, and after showing me his paper airplane, satisfied, he skipped away down the hallway and disappeared. There are other ghosts at Baker Hunt besides Duncan. One evening the apparition of Margaretta Baker Hunt appeared in my class surrounded by roses, her signature flower and scent. She was standing behind one of my students who she liked - he had been a foster parent for several children during his life, and children were beloved by Margaretta, who had tragically lost her only daughter Katie to spinal meningitis when she was only fifteen. Ghosts are not at all unusual or rare. All over the world, today and throughout human history, an invisible spirit world intermingles with the everyday lives of people. Stories of ghostly visitations abound in folklore, history books, the Bible, literature, and even biographies of great historic figures like George Washington. Ghosts can be wanderers, or closely associated with certain places or buildings, i.e., Cincinnati’s notoriously haunted

Music Hall, Westwood Town Hall, and Bobby Mackey’s Nightclub. Countless other haunted buildings are not so famous. Do you live in a haunted house and not even know it? Check for these signs: •Mysterious knocks and raps. •Unexplained electrical disturbances such as lights flickering or televisions and radios turning themselves on and off. •Strange animal behavior, i.e., dogs barking into an empty corner or cats eyes following something invisible around the room. •Being touched by invisible hands. •While in bed, feeling your mattress or blanket compress as if someone sat on it. •Hearing someone call your name when no one’s around. •Evocative smells, especially associated with someone who’s dead, i.e., perfume or cigars. •Seeing people out of the corner of your eye who disappear when you turn to look. •Feeling cold chills, sometimes followed by headaches or sudden exhaustion. These signs can occur at any time of day. Why would a ghost want to hang around, anyway? Sometimes a recently departed relative will just want to make sure everyone’s okay, or join in on a special family celebration such as a wedding or birthday. Here are some other reasons: •To give a sign that they are okay. But sometimes these signs unintentionally frighten the living. •Ignorance. They don’t know they’re dead or where to go. •Confusion. Often the spirit was emotionally or mentally unbalanced in life and continues to be so in death. •Fear, usually of going to hell. •Strong emotional attachment to people or places. •Addictions to alcohol, drugs, etc. •Wanting to finish something started in life. •Revenge. Watch out! And so, what if your house is haunted? What can you do? Some people choose to not do anything, especially if the ghost doesn’t keep them up at night or get in their way. But what if it does? The best choice for the inexperienced

Singing Bowls Sound Meditation submitted by Nancy Caldwell

Singing bowls (also known as Tibetan Singing Bowls, rin gongs, Himalayan bowls or suzu gongs) are a type of bell, specifically classified as a standing bell. Rather than hanging inverted or attached to a handle, singing bowls sit with the bottom surface resting. The sides and rim of singing bowls vibrate to produce sound characterized by a fundamental frequency (first harmonic) and usually two audible harmonic overtones (second and third harmonic). According to singing bowl researcher Joseph Feinstein, singing bowls were traditionally used in Asia and the tradition of making sound with bronze bowls could go back 3,000 or more years to the Bronze Age. Singing bowls are used worldwide for meditation, music, relaxation, personal well-being. They are used by a wide range of professionals, including health professionals, school teachers, musicians and spiritual teachers. Singing bowls are used in health care by psychotherapists, massage therapists, cancer specialists,

stress and meditation specialists. They are used to help treat cancer patients and post traumatic stress disorder. They are popular in classrooms to help facilitate group activities and focus students’ attention. Singing bowls were historically made throughout Asia, especially Nepal, China and Japan. They are closely related to decorative bells made along the silk road from the Near East to Western Asia. Today they are made in Nepal, India, Japan, China and Korea. Origins, History and Usage In Tibetan Buddhist practice, singing bowls are used as a signal to begin and end periods of silent meditation. In Japan and Vietnam, singing bowls are similarly used during chanting and may also mark

the passage of time or signal a change in activity, for example changing from sitting to walking meditation. In Japan, singing bowls are used in traditional funeral rites and ancestor worship. Every Japanese temple holds a singing bowl. Singing bowls are found on altars and in meditation rooms worldwide. The oral and written traditions from the Himalayan region are vast and largely unknown in the West. It is unknown whether there are any traditional texts about singing bowls. All known references to them are strictly modern. However, a few pieces of art dating from several centuries ago depict singing bowls in detail, including Tibetan paintings and statues. Some Tibetan rinpoches and monks use singing bowls in monasteries and meditation centers today. Singing bowls from at least the 15th century are found in private collections. The tradition may date significantly earlier since bronze has been used to make musical instruments for thousands of years. Bronze bells from Asia have been discovered as early as the 8th–10th century BC and singing bowls are thought to go back in the Himalayas to the 10th-12th century AD (Feinstein, 2011). Singing bowls are played by striking the rim of the bowl with a padded mallet. They can also be played by the friction of rubbing a wood, plastic, or leather wrapped mallet around the rim of the bowl to emphasize the harmonic overtones and a continuous ‘singing’ sound.

Seeing Is Believing! by Vicki Richter How do you know how healthy you are? Do you consume a lot of sugary food and beverages and know that Diabetes runs in your family? Do you live or work around environmental toxins (automotive fumes, chemical manufacturing, smoke, mold, dust, asbestos, etc)? Do you mentally carry around lots of emotional baggage (anger, stress, guilt, etc.)? Do you know all of the above things and MORE could be causing you potential health issues? How would you know? Is there a test for this? If so, where can you go to get it and importantly, how much would it cost? Many people are angry with our current health care system: prescriptions and procedures are too expensive, the pain doesn’t go away and there is little or no encouragement to engage in healthy lifestyle changes. Various symptoms don’t show up on blood tests, lab tests, or x-rays. Some of the situations that can be recognized are: immune system activity, thyroid and hormonal problems, toxicity, kidney and liver stress and blood sugar imbalances. The imaging process is quite simple, painless, and non-invasive. A person sits at a desk and places their hand on a sensor board that has marked segments and biofeedback energy sensors. Immediately, their Color Aura/Energy begins to appear on the computer screen. Every sensor corresponds to a reflexology zone body organ) on the palm. The sensor electrodes gather the biofeedback data which is then processed and translated to the computer program. Butternut Squash A Fall Harvest Fruit

A cousin to pumpkin, butternut squash is considered a fruit because of its seeds, some might consider it a vegetable, but at any rate, the health benefits of this squash is phenomenal! Low in calories, with zero fat, cholesterol and sodium, butternut squash is a perfect pick for those who want to add a fat burning food to their diet. In addition, this special squash is an excellent source of Vitamin A,C,E,K,B6, folate, thiamin and beta-carotene. Although a fat free food, butternut squash contains micrograms of omega-3fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids, both are essential for reducing your risk of heart disease. One cup of butternut squash has a high fiber content as well as potassium, which helps reduce joint stiffness and can be a natural pain reliever. Just as versatile as pumpkin, the seeds can also be roasted and the pulp can be mashed, cubed or pureed to make a delicious soup or to add to many salads or dishes. Introducing butternut squash soup to your diet is very

beneficial, not only does it aid in digestion and help you feel full, but it contains the recommended five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables for the day. For the most health benefits, stick with broth based soup instead of heavy cream. The best season for butternut squash is October to November. Choose ones that are firm, heavy and dull, not glossy, rinds. Preparing this squash is easy, rinse under cool water, cut in half between the neck and bulb. When baking butternut squash, it does not need to be peeled, cut ends off and cut lengthwise down the middle, although it is easier to peel after baking if you plan to refrigerate or freeze portions of the squash. A great idea for butternut squash is to use it to replace pumpkin in your favorite recipes, sometimes butternut squash is more affordable and it delivers exceptional nutritious value with so many various ways to enjoy it now and through the upcoming Holidays!

Squash Pear Soup

• 1 tablespoon cornstarch

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 egg, beaten

• 1 large sweet potato, peeled and diced

• 1 cup evaporated milk (or substitute)

• 2 medium butternut squash, peeled, cubed and steamed

• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

• 2 cups vegetable broth • 1 ½ cups water • 1 stick of cinnamon • ¾ tsp. salt • 2 Tbs. butter • 3 medium onions peeled and diced • 3 large pears, peeled and sliced thin • 1/3 cup dry white wine (or non-alcoholic substitute) DIRECTIONS: 1.Place squash, sweet potato in a pot with broth, water, salt and cinnamon stick 2.Simmer until tender. 3.Remove cinnamon stick. 4.Melt butter and gently cook onions until they caramelize. 5.Add pears to onions and continue to cook for 5 minutes. 6.Add wine and continue to simmer for 10 minutes. 7.Mix squash and onion mixtures together. 8.Puree in small batches. 9.Add more broth if too thick.

• 1 pinch ground allspice • 1 pinch ground cloves • 1 pinch ground ginger • 1 pinch ground nutmeg • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell DIRECTIONS: 1. Place squash in a saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, and simmer over medium heat until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain, and cool. 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 3. In a blender or food processor, combine butternut squash, brown sugar, cornstarch, egg, milk, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg. Process until smooth. Pour into the unbaked pie shell. 4. Bake in preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until a table knife comes out clean when inserted in the center.

Burn Your Boat! by John Boe, International Trainer & Motivational Speaker I believe that the great NFL Hall of Fame coach, Vince Lombardi, had it right when he said, “The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.“ Do you agree with coach Lombardi, or are you the type of person who has difficulty staying focused and keeping commitments? Do you allow the negative influences of fear, anxiety, self-doubt and worry to dominate your thinking and sabotage your results? Sadly, most people fail to achieve their goals, not because they’re lazy or lack self-motivation, but because they were never “fully committed” to succeed! I can’t think of a single great achievement that has ever been attained without first a plan of action and then an unshakable commitment to its accomplishment. Walt Disney was arguably one of the most creative dreamers and determined men of the twentieth century. Walt understood the power of commitment and would frequently tell those around him, “When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.” The ancient Greek warriors were both feared and respected by their enemies. In battle, the Greeks established a well-deserved reputation for their unsurpassed bravery and unshakable commitment to victory. The key to their overwhelming success on the battlefield had far more to do with how the Greek commanders motivated the warriors than it did with issues of tactics or training. The Greeks were master motivators who understood how to use a “dramatic demonstration” to infuse a spirit of commitment into the heart of every warrior. Once the warriors had been offloaded from their boats onto their enemy’s shore, the Greek commanders would shout out their first order…“burn the boats!” The sight of burning boats removed any notion of retreat from their hearts and any thoughts of surrender from their heads. Imagine the tremendous psychological impact on the soldiers as they watched their boats being set to the torch.

As the boats turned to ash and slipped quietly out of sight into the water, each man understood there was no turning back and the only way home was through victory. Perspectives by Cynthia M. Brown This has been a rough summer. My family is in transition from one part of the state to another. My son is trying to find his wings and decide what he wants to be as a nineteen year old. . The non-profit I work for has undergone a lot of growing pains as the founder retires and we find our way without her daily interaction. The brutal heat of this year has made me more keenly aware of my aging physical self and the long-term changes wrought by the medical interventions that have, thus far, prolonged my life after battling breast cancer. I have, twice each year, in my position as executive director of Hope Springs Institute, the distinct pleasure, of hosting an amazing organization for women living with cancer called Noble Circle. The organization is out of Dayton, OH. They help women feel as if they have some control over their lives and their bodies as they manage the process of treatment. They help connect them with self-healing modalities, healthy ways of eating and they spend 10 weeks together in study of what having life really means and what does a cancer diagnosis mean in the over all scheme of things. It is an often-stated homily that “Cancer is a gift.� In my opinion, it is true. It is hard to explain and yet it really is the way of things for me. I learned that I needed to find a way to work to live rather than living to work. I loved the culinary profession and yet I knew I could not continue to work 15-16 hours every day and still be a whole person. I changed careers and now, after reaching the age of 50, I have moved into a career area that blends all the things I love most about the culinary world with my work in the nonprofit arena in the last 10 years. This weekend, I became reacquainted with a woman who received a cancer diagnosis shortly before learning she was pregnant. For the health of her child, she postponed treatment. Now, after two years, she is metastatic. Her organs and bones are riddled with cancer. She is in treatment and her prognosis is

uncertain. She will tell you that cancer has made her a better mother. She will tell you with a smile, that she is learning to live the way her 2 year old is livingright now, in the moment, with wonder and graceful acceptance. I sit here on this beautiful mountain 10 years post treatment, and ask myself if I am still living in the moment, with grace and acceptance? I wonder that after 10 years, I might be taking each precious day for granted. After all this time, cancer, not just mine, but the disease and the lives it touches, represents a gift to me, and I am still learning how to live. About the Author: Cynthia M. Fall & the Metal Element

by Tommy R. Thompson, DC, NMD, LaC The change of the season is in the air, and the days are shorter. Fall is upon us now. This is the earth element of the 5 element theory in Asian medicine. The stomach and spleen, digestion and fluid transformation in the body is representing in the earth element, over joyous or excessive excitement is the emotion. We begin to see the shift to the fall which is the metal element the organs are the lungs and large Intestine. The emotion for the fall and metal elements is grief, loss and sorrow. Many times it will also manifest in the channels of acupuncture. This occurs on the thumb side of the arm, wrist, elbow and shoulder pain. It is also the time for allergies and food sensitivities; you could start to see this with post nasal drip, cough phlegm and other respiratory changes. Since fall metal follows earth the digestive system can be involved, stomach disorders and lower bowel issue can flair. Borderline diabetics should monitor their Carbohydrate, starch and sugar intake, because late summer is the time of dampness resulting in phlegm and eventually cysts or fibroids. The concept of artery disease is from this idea of body fluids congealing and leading to blockages in vessels leading to poor circulation; both blood and lymphatic’s... Remember when “blood flows chi follows”. We can see this in the feet, eyes, heart, and brain in diabetics that don’t control their intake of too many calories based on high glycemic index foods (high glycemic foods in the bodies causing insulin jumping up after eating these foods). Fats don’t cause this, sugar does; many patient tell me I don’t eat sugar, yet they have the following for breakfast; Banana, toast no butter, 8oz. of orange juice and some add a bowl Oct / Nov 2012


of whole grain cereal. This a lot of high glycemic index foods that increases insulin and by mid morning they are hungry again. So over easy eggs with 2 strips of bacon are far more superior because it’s proteins and fats and don’t jack your insulin up... So the older generation was condemned for eating eggs for breakfast because the thought was fat made you fat, therefore fat cause cholesterol which equivocated to heart disease, so eat all the cholesterol lowering drugs to control blood fat. You can eat 2 large eggs everyday without increasing your serum cholesterol levels. The demon isn’t cholesterol it’s High fructose corn syrup and sugars in most our food... In Fall and Spring, we are suddenly reminded that Nature is changing – dramatically – all around us. Even the most oblivious of humans, immersed in their offices with heads bent over their work from morning dark to evening dark have a vague sense that SOMETHING is different outside the office window. Those of us who notice the wind, the sunrise or sunset, the smells of the outdoors as we get into our cars for work or home, even we are for the most part oblivious to the constant change in ourselves, and all around us. We isolate ourselves from the natural environment by surrounding ourselves with temperature controlled environments like buildings and cars. We also isolate ourselves by our focus. For example, when I walk from my car to my office building, I often am thinking about my first meeting of the day, or when I am going to fit a workout into my schedule. Do I allow myself to notice where the sun is with respect to where it was the day before, or note the clouds of a weather front coming in? Often I do, but more often I do not.

Living in the country does force Terri and me to pay attention to the seasons more so than those who live in cities and suburbs, and for that we are very grateful. At this time of year we are noticing how many leaves have begun to fall, whether the horses have begun to grow their winter coats (and how thick they become by December), and we are also looking for the wooly worms – the caterpillars that (according to folk lore) can predict the severity of the coming winter by the color, striping, and length of their fur. The promise of Spring is often heralded by the song of the “peepers” – the tiny frogs that wake up in the drainage ditches long before the last freeze of the winter, and begin their mating song. It gives us hope that dark days and daily stall mucking will be over soon! The true beginning of Summer comes with the first lightening bug sighting of the year! Animals especially prey animals like cows, deer,

horses, rabbits, and squirrels, are very tuned to change in themselves and in the world around them. Their survival depends on it. They know that their bodies are changing constantly – growing or shedding hair and horns, wearing down teeth and hooves, metabolism varying to some degree with the season as well as their aging process. They are constantly aware of their ability to see, to hear, to run, or to turn and fight a threat. They do not just notice change in the environment around it, they are so connected and immersed in their environment that their bodies automatically adjust to the subtle changes in temperature, length of daylight, etc. By living entirely in the moment they are in, they allow themselves to absorb and react to change. Change, for them, is a fact of life. Rather than resist it, they accept it and respond to it. One of the most profound experiences I have had was sharing the sunrise with my old horse Rusty. He taught me to stop, to not only observe the sunrise but to immerse myself in it. Often, when I was preoccupied with leaving for work in the morning, he would put himself between me and the house to literally force me to stop… not just my body, but my head as well. He taught me the profoundness of being still in the moment I am in. If we allow it, animals will invite us to stop and be, to become immersed in the world around us. How often have we been driving, and pulled over to see a herd of deer at sunset, or observe a hawk flying above us? It makes us pause, and in that moment we magically feel both absolute stillness, and the subtle shift of change surrounding us. Our dogs and cats often beg us to stop and pay attention to them. That is as much for us as for them, because when you focus on petting them and being with them, they in turn focus you in the moment you are in. We invite you to celebrate the brilliant colors and mild days of Fall. Tomorrow morning, when you get ready to get into your car and drive to work, take a minute (and your coffee) and step outside. Find the sun, smell the air, listen to the wind, be present in the moment. Just for a minute or two, celebrate the gifts all around you. You can worry about all your meetings on your drive to work!

The Psychology & Physiology of an Illness

D.C., F.A.S.A. Some time ago an author by the name of Norman Cousins wrote a book about his history and what had happened to him. He had been diagnosed as having terminal cancer and was given only a matter of time before he would be dead. He decided that this scenario was not to be his history. So he went and purchased several Laurel and Hardy movies which he thought were very funny. He sat down and watched these movies and laughed until he hurt. They were corny, but comedy movies that changed his whole body chemistry. By laughing as he did, he relieved his adrenal glands of any stress and changed his body chemistry. So that cancer could not survive in the environment that had been created in his blood and body chemistry. His adrenal glands were no longer producing cortisol which is very alkaline. Cancer will only survive in an alkaline environment. This has been proven as early as 1955 in the laboratory. There is a group that promotes drinking alkaline water. Some of them may be good, but not all. You need a happy balance of acid and alkaline water. Distilled water is very acid. Your oral pH should be 7.00 or above and your urine pH should be 6.00 or more acid than your oral pH. If body functions in a normal manner this is the way the pH factors will be. There is a gross misunderstanding in the medical community about how to change the bodies’ chemistry relative to treating cancer. The oncologist wants to wipe out the immune system to treat cancer cells in your body. This is only effective in 3% of the cases. In other words 97% of the people will die. Not a very good percentage of cases will live. Dr. Simoncini of Rome, Italy, an oncologist, states that he has treated cancer very successfully by using baking soda or plain sodium bicarbonate to treat cancer. His success rate is of very treating malignant

tumors is 90%. The cost of treatment is very low since baking soda is cheap. One of his discoveries is that cancer tumors are a fungus. He wrote a book, titled “Cancer Is a Fungus”. Even though his treatment is very successful, he is not orthodox in his treatment methods.. He found that cancer is a fungus called “candida albicans.” More than sixty years ago the Germans found that this was true. Dr. Hans Nieper, of Hanover, Germany, told me how they had been treating many conditions by simply starving candida albicans out with enzymes. It has no more food to eat and goes back to the small intestine where it belongs to do it’s job of absorbing “B” vitamins. Candida albicans gets in the blood stream, via antibiotics and steroids, where it tears red blood and white blood cells apart, destroying the immune system. By doing this a lot of debris gets dumped in the blood system. This probably accounts for the many skin conditions that result from it. Dr. F.C. Odds of England found that there were more than 150 forms of candida albicans. He backed up his research work to the tune of 5,796 references. Several years ago I was the medical research director of a research company. If anyone had presented their work with that kind of documentation, you would have to accept what they said was true. I have proven what he said as gospel. He said among many things, that if a word had “it is” on the end of it, it was a form of candida albicans. He is right! Not only is there a lot of fatigue in the body when candida albicans is present in the blood, but the adrenal gland fatigue also present When this happens, a lot of chemistry is changed because of adrenal gland fatigue or hyperactivity. When the adrenals get fatigued, many systems malfunction.Adrenal glands may be little organs that sit on top of the kidneys, but they are powerful. Many muscles in your legs malfunction because 6 muscles are affected. Thyroid and the adrenal are buddies. Candida albicans also causes malfunction of

the pineal gland in the center of your head. When it malfunctions, you get depressed, atmospheric changes affect you, you can’t sleep, long winter nights affect you, you develop phobias, sex drive disappears and the computer center in your head doesn’t function the way it should. Many degenerative conditions develop because of what has happened. All of this happens because of a good bacteria is in the wrong place. You need to watch what you eat and make sure it does not have steroids or antibiotics in it. Something else you need to consider is that your stomach is not designed to eat cooked food, You need to put the enzymes in it that has been cooked out of it. Any foods that have been cooked above 104 degrees F have no enzymes left in it. Enzymes are important for a complete digestion to take place. For the first hour food does it’s own digestion if it contains it’s own enzymes and is raw or has the enzymes added to the food. The second hour, the food is then treated in the stomach with hydrochloric acid or pepsinogen to finish the digestive process before it goes into the small intestine to be absorbed.
