The first phase of CBF VIII has started with a big bang and in just 19 days and 25 cities, over 2000 partners have participated. This turnout is unprecedented and contrary to our belief that partners are losing interest in roadshows & events. Management change at NXP NXP Semiconductors N.V. has announced that Hans Rijns and Dave French will jointly take responsibility for the NXP R&D function per immediate effect. Hans Rijns is appointed Chief Technology Officer. In his role as CTO, Hans Rijns will primarily focus his efforts on innovation and technology strategies. TP-LINK debuts new family of SOHO and Mobile Networking Solutions at CES TP-LINK will debut at the 2013 International CES a comprehensive family of wireless small office, home and mobile connectivity products designed to strengthen the company’s leadership in WLAN and Broadband CPE devices. Heading off the CES announcements is TP-LINK’s flagship 802.11ac AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (TLWDR7500), which provides 1750Mbps

ROCCAT debuts 2013 lineup at CES 2013 ROCCAT will be showing its new product developments in gaming peripherals and software at CES in Las Vegas on January 8 - 11, 2013. Brocade names Lloyd Carney as Chief Executive Officer Brocade has announced that its Board of Directors unanimously appointed networking industry veteran Lloyd Carney to the position of chief executive officer effective immediately. Great hopes for

2013 2012 was the year when India showed an inclination towards tablets and smart devices. The epicenter of communication and business is gradually shifting from the the PCs & Notebooks to wireless devices – Smartphones, Tablets, Netbooks and Cell phones. This migration is reflected in the increased adoption rate of Smart-

phones and mobile operating systems across continents and communities. The overall tablet market recorded sales of 1.1 million units in the July-September quarter of 2012 with Samsung leading the pack. The Korean chaebol cornered a 23.9% share, followed by Micromax at second position

with 15.3% share and Datawind at third position with a 12.3% share, in terms of sales, as per data released by a research firm. The Indian tablet market is likely to have grown to 3 million units in 2012 while it is expected to double in 2013, said Cybermedia Research. The study pointed out that in July- September 2012 tablet sales touched 1.1 million units to grow 99.3% on a quarter-on-quarter basis. The tablets are likely to face a tough challenge in 2013 from ultrabooks from users looking for content. The low PC penetration may be the reason why tablets may lose to notebooks — the 20 million who have a PC may look at a tablet, but not the 80 million who don’t because they will first want to buy a PC. As portfolios of various vendors have become ever more diversified and distributed, the scope and complexity will be witnessed consecutively. An array of Windows products are set to be launched in the coming year and Windows 8 could be the next game changer for the tech landscape.

What have been the milestone achievements for your company in 2012? We have been committed to provide innovative products that deliver excellent quality, reliability and performance that enhances the computing experience. With sophisticated craftsmanship and technology, we have launched products that have created their own niche in the market. In 2011, we had one National distributor and around four to six Regional distributors for our products. And in 2012, we collectively have two National distributors and fourteen Regional distributors, which is significant. Also, in view of the growing demand and great prospects, we have been immensely focused on escalating our retail presence this year. We have set up our exclusive retail stores all across India in various Tier II & Tier III cities and through mobile phones. Within the last few years itself, its growth has been astounding. A recent report by Cybermedia Research details how the smartphone arena in the country has expanded this year Android is the most favoured player and has a huge lead over its competition. According to the CMR report ‘Indian Mobile Handsets Market Review 2Q 2012’, which tech2.in.com came across,

Android holds 56.4 per cent of the market in India. Its closest competitor is Symbian with a 17.4 per cent share. Next up is BlackBerry with its 12.1 per cent share, followed by Bada at an 8.5 per cent share. At the fag ends come in iOS with its 3.0 per cent share and Windows Mobile at a 2.6 per cent share. The report’s findings are based on the 5.50 million smartphone units shipped in the country between Jan-

As a leading anti-virus expert what are your plans for the Indian IT security market? What are the key areas that you are going to focus on? We appointed some distributors in the past but strategy and the approach did not meet our expectations. India for sure is one of the key markets for Bitdefender. So last year, we appointed Mr. Arghya Sanyal, South Asia Channel Director to drive the market not only for the Indian region but also focusing on the Asia region. Presently, we have a new distribution agreement with Venktron Digital systems which you

What strategy is being adopted to empower the marketing of Bitdefender products? What are the key verticals being focused on? Bitdefender is progressively more focused on product solutions in business and enterprise. We have developed a unique solution with security for virtualization environment. We are focused on providing such superior solutions in the market. The consumer business is right now 60 – 65% of our incomes and it is the same for others too. So the consumer segment is an important part of our market. We cannot afford to ignore this market as consumers are the key factor in the business. They amount to a huge amount of revenue for the company. We are now specializing on developing solutions for companies from small companies to big enterprises while keeping in mind the interest of the consumers.

Bitdefender has been consistently bagging top awards in the market for anti virus solutions during the last five quarters. Different publications have voiced the success story of our security solutions. We have got the best results in terms of detection malware in the last six months.
