POINT DANGER’S CULINARY GEM

Pipi’s Restaurant reimagines seaside dining.

Every now and again, a venue so spectacular struts into town that it immediately has us in its clutches and entirely turns the local dining landscape on its head(land). Making its grand entrance earlier this year, Mediterranean dining darling Pipi’s Restaurant was precisely that pivotal addition, turning the tides for foodie prospects in the cosy seaside locale of Coolangatta.

Boasting the dream trifecta of elevated eats, absolute oceanfront position and show stopping good looks, the latest jewel in the Gambaro Group crown has a lot going on. Earning itself a rep for impeccable service and quality to rival its coveted outlook, Pipi’s is now making fresh waves with some superb additions to its elevated eats offering. So, if you’re yet to meet the seaside venue that’s changing the game in the Southern GC, there has never been a better time to dive in to this

dreamy dining destination!

Perched atop Point Danger, with an outlook spanning from Snapper Rocks to D-bah, Pipi’s is more than just a pretty spot for a bite. Unveiling a brand new destination unlike anything else on offer in the area, the arrival has totally transformed the Boundary Street strip. Occupying the first level of Coolangatta’s new luxury Awaken complex, the 100 pax showstopper has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for seaside revelling. Perfectly positioned to host everything from casual drinks and family lunches through to luxury events like reunions and weddings; Pipi’s has redefined the way in which the tight-knit community can converge, carouse and celebrate in style – the world is your oyster, party people!

Leaning into its ocean proximity, Pipi’s is all about crafting Mediterranean-inspired fare that simultaneously elevates local produce and delivers a European escape for the tastebuds.

With renowned Brisbane establishments like Gambaro Seafood Restaurant and Black Hide Steakhouse in its bloodline, when it comes to building on that 70-year culinary legacy, Pipi’s isn’t pulling any punches.

At the heart of the light and airy space sits an expansive open kitchen and bar which connects both dining spaces. Meanwhile, the inclusion of central showpieces such as a dedicated oyster bar and open flame Josper grill have dual benefits of creating a lively and theatrical ambiance while churning out a superb culinary experience.

Bolstered by some tantalising new land and sea additions, the menu combines renowned signature dishes such as Steak Frites with vibrant new options like the Veal Tenderloin, served with orange, carrot and capers.

While tangy new inclusions like tomato and pickled cucumber King Fish Crudo and Seared Half Shell Scallops finished in brown butter and finger lime will have seafood connoisseurs hook, line and sinker… #Drool. For sweet tooths, the newly-added Baked Cheesecake with red wine and berries also teeters perilously on the verge of ‘drop everything to get a taste’ territory.

If you’re more in the mood to graze and sip, Pipi’s provides the perfect setting to do so. With a soothing interior inspired by the colours and textures of the pipi shell, perch up in the welcoming, light-filled surrounds and get cozy with the diverse snack and drinks selection –the latter loaded with distinctive cocktails and European wines.

Striking the balance between elegance and laid-back coastal, Pipi’s is truly a ‘choose your own adventure’ venue – effortlessly adapting to whatever level of indulgence you’re in the mood for. And really, when aren’t we down for Crispy Prawn Rolls, Seafood Platters and crafted cocktails!

POD-UCTIVITY BOOST

Recharge at One Spa’s new Rejuvenation Lounge.

As an adult there’s one thing that should, but often doesn’t, take priority over all else – self care. Primarily due to the old adage that you can’t pour from an empty cup. Which is easier said than done in a world that rarely stops for a breath.

Luckily there are places to help you do exactly that and the very best of them is One Spa at RACV Royal Pines Resort.

A luxurious day spa set amidst tranquil greenery, One Spa offers a stunning array of treatments designed to allow you to forget the outside world even exists for a while and fill

that cup of yours right to the brim.

Excitingly, One Spa has recently added a Rejuvenation Lounge to its repertoire for additional relaxation purposes with the added benefit of boosting your overall health. The Rejuvenation Lounge is designed to work in conjunction with any of the incredible treatments on offer and includes several soulsoothing options.

The Infrared Sauna boasts unrivalled benefits for mind and body including flushing out toxins, improving skin tone, pain relief, improving cardiovascular function and boosting circulation. The way it works is the infrared rays safely penetrate the skin, circulating heat and positively altering the body’s tissue. It’s warm and cosy, you’ll get a little sweaty and wander out feeling as though you’ve taken a trip to heaven.

The Rejuvenation Lounge also has a Somadome Meditation Pod which is an individual pod that uses binaural beats (high frequency sounds) to pop you into a state of ultimate bliss. The pod also uses colour

and magnetic therapies, blending the three modalities to create an experience unique to your specific needs.

In case that’s not enough healing for you, the Rejuvenation Lounge offers an O2 Breathing Chair that will guide you through a series of breathing exercises to increase your energy while leaving you feeling calm and rested.

Which is obviously the dream scenario when you’ve already experienced one (or several) of One Spa’s incredible therapies like locally inspired rituals including a combination of body exfoliation and hydration wrap (one of many), a unique water therapy or a delicious full body massage to name just a few of the luxe offerings.

One Spa’s new space is truly the trifecta when you’re in need of an escape from everyday life, a haven for detoxification and recovery and the perfect space to give yourself a gift that will ensure benefits for a long time after you leave.

Do yourself many favours and book a treatment with the addition of time in the Rejuvenation Lounge right now.

Why not delight your special someone with the perfect indulgence by gifting them a One Spa Gift Card? Treat them to an unforgettable spa experience that will leave them feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and you well and truly in the good books.

The new menu features Australian-owned and made luxury skincare brand LaGaia UNEDITED free from parabens, synthetics and articial colours.

GO WILD FOR MIAMI’S NEW ESPRESSO BAR

Whyld thing, you make our hearts sing.

If caffeine is your love language, you’ll be extra peppy to learn of a brand new brickand-mortar espresso bar for Whyld Coffee Roasters. Promising ‘genuine connection fuelled by bloody good coffee’, expertly extracted brews are just the beginning for this up-and-coming bean slinging crew.

Founded by Rachel-May Follan, an allround coffee fanatic and barista of some 16 years, Whyld Coffee Roasters has been bounding along on the local coffee scene channelling the strength of a triple espresso since 2021. Bursting with the exact type of enthusiasm that only someone with an unfettered supply of the finest beans can possess, owner Rachel-May’s passion for all things coffee and community is palpable.

Dropping their most exciting project to date (in our totally un-biased opinion *sips coffee*) – the made-with-love micro roastery has officially set down roots in Miami with a brand spanking new espresso bar and roasting facility.

From humble backyard beginnings roasting 100g batches at a time, these days the tireless Whyld crew powers a handful of cafes and coffee vans across the coast with their roasted onsite selection of imported and locallygrown beans.

Flaunting a soul-soothing shade of forest green as far as the eye can see, Hillcrest Parade’s latest are supplying the smoothest of brews to get us glowing from Wednesday – Sunday, in addition to a tasty selection of grab-and-go goodies courtesy of Burleigh Baker.

For those that remember Miami’s I Like Ramen days, Whyld’s smooth specialty brews will need no introductions – after a stint dutifully slinging caffeine fixes every weekend out of the pop-up window where Holliday Coffee now resides. During this fateful time Rachel-May ‘fell in love with the community of Miami’.

As someone who’s dedicated her whole working life to slinging lattes and soy caps, Rachel-May had always been keen to delve deeper into her craft and learn the ins-and-outs of where the cup comes from.

Talk about living and breathing the bean life! With a little help from some local legends at Burleigh’s Profile Coffee Colab in 2021, RachelMay embarked on the rollercoaster of learning to roast coffee. And bean’s yer uncle, Whyld was born not long after!

These days, the micro roastery’s small but mighty team consists of Rachel-May, her partner Tiago Sperb, and who could forget ‘Big Shaz’, the trusty 12kg Probat coffee roaster.

Requiring all hands on deck to pull off, the crew has taken great pains to pour good vibes into their brick-and-mortar milestone. Equal parts eclectic and energising, the result is a charming and sun-drenched spot to swing by for your daily fix, with a rag tag assortment of repurposed milk crates and vintage thrones on which to perch with your morning cup of Joe.

If this sounds suspiciously like your new #happyplace, we have an inkling that might just be by design. “It’s real connections and liquid gold that keep our souls happy” Rachel-May muses, which gets a #HardAgree from our haplessly-addicted selves.

“How often do you meet someone at a cafe? Or say ‘let’s go get a coffee?’ It’s the biggest connector we have,” she adds.

Sounds like a great excuse for one more cup to us!

Little Mr Bouqs is your go-to florist for affordably priced eco-friendly blooms.

Nothing says “my life is rosier with you” quite like a beautiful bunch of flowers. We’re strong believers that flowers should not just be a Valentine’s Day treat!

As one of life’s modest luxuries, flowers should be enjoyed frequently (doctors’ orders). That’s where Little Mr Bouqs comes in. They have turned the charming luxury into an affordable treat! But I wouldn’t dandy-lion around, these bouquets are always in hot demand.

Little Mr Bouqs is an online florist based in Currumbin Waters, providing exceptional Gold Coast flower delivery. They deliver joy with market-fresh, locally sourced flowers Monday through Friday, all hand-picked and arranged to enchant. Send today or later, each carefully curated bunch is as inspiring as the

next and promises to delight when delivered to your door. They are also far from traditional. Their bouquets are a market standout, with contemporary picks artfully arranged for a most refreshing and unique bouquet. They’re bloomin beautiful!

Unlike commercially driven florists, where you might consider cutting off your arm for a small, lacklustre bunch, Little Mr Bouqs trumps with an affordable and sustainable supply. They are dedicated to delivering cost-conscious arrangements to the Gold Coast and Brisbane without impacting quality or appearance. Their unique size over style model helps them significantly reduce waste and maintain floral freshness. Their commitment to sustainability extends to sourcing flowers primarily from Australian growers and supporting local agriculture.

You would think this well-watered flower machine has been growing for decades, but despite their headstrong values, top-tier floral arrangements and multitude of five-star Google reviews, they have been servicing the Gold Coast for only two years! The journey, however, began back in 2015, born from the dreams of co-owners Jodie and Logan.

For Jodie, it was a transition from a successful career in interior design (now we know where she got her knack for design!) to pursuing her passion for flowers, starting an inexpensive and unique flower delivery service in Brisbane.

Logan came onboard with his web design and product management expertise to help ensure a seamless ordering experience for customers. And like a seed to soil, their passion and skills merged to grow the now flourishing Little Mr Bouqs.

After the arrival of their daughter, they were inspired to take a brief hiatus and make a strategic shift to the Gold Coast and Northern NSW. Savvy as they are, the pair recognised a gap in the market for affordable, high-quality flowers, which inspired their current business structure.

Little Mr Bouqs is a showcase of authentic passion that has blossomed into success through hard work and care. Experience the joy of beautiful, fresh flowers for yourself! Treat yourself to a bouquet. For more information or to place an order, visit Little Mr Bouqs website and discover the best in affordable Gold Coast flower delivery.

RUGGED, DEVILISHLY GOOD LOOKS & A REFINED INTERIOR

Is the new Hyundai Santa Fe the car of our dreams?

Most people fall into the category of square or circle, that is, do you like a rectangular-faced watch or oval? Personally, I love boxy objects, so when the new 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe debuted this year, it was love at first sight.

A powerful presence turning heads, leaving blank stares, with the question, what kind of car is that? We know the ‘it girl’ on the GC is the SUV, packing all the space of a minivan, but with a cool factor. Hey, there’s no judgement if your SUV has never been beyond a shopping centre and school pickup, it’s serving its purpose for you.

While the chunky SUV’s a-la Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon and Land Rover Defender have buyers lining up for their angular design, who thought the tech-savvy Koreans at Hyundai would be throwing their hat into the ring, and with a hybrid 7-seater Santa Fe no less.

So why is it causing a fuss?

Previous Santa Fe models may have blended in amongst the mid-size SUV landscape, but no longer. I recently took the Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy (the top of the range) for a test drive and here are some of my highlights of this game changer.

Fun design features include 10 exterior colour options (my pick of the bunch is the Earthy Brass Matte, which says dirty but not actual dirt thankyou), a beefy welcome to my front bumper vibe, iconic H headlights and impressive dark 20” alloy wheels, so you never have to keep them clean. If you were impressed with the powerful presence and rugged exterior of this long wheelbase vehicle, then wait till you feast your eyes inside the dreamy soft interior.

You’ll first be in awe of the most luxurious two-tone Nappa Leather appointed seats in 3 delicious colourways (my pick is the Pecan Brown, more interesting than Black Ink, and more forgiving than Supersonic Gray, knowing a spray tan will never come off) featuring stunning diamond cross feature panels begging the question again… is this a Hyundai?

Then you’ll cast your eyes across the HUGE 12.3” multimedia touchscreen featuring SatNav, weather updates, phone connectivity, radio and media pushing through a pumping BOSE premium sound system, all within easy reach without being distracting to your journey. And you know what else isn’t distracting to

your journey? DUAL WIRELESS CHARGERS! No longer do you need to fight over the right to the charger cable, simply place your phone on top of the middle console side-by-side chargers and Bob’s your uncle.

Another unique feature which has been included for the germaphobes is a UV-C sterilisation tray, which can be utilised for your phone, sunglasses etc, just pop them in, hit the UV-C sterilisation button and presto, your items are rid of bacteria. Pretty cool huh?

One of the bigger selling points of the interior is the incredible amount of room offered for 7 seats (there is also a 6 seat option too!). The back row folds down to become flat, allowing maximum wide tailgate space for fitting objects or you can even convert into a space to picnic/ camp in. And with the giant moon roof above, it makes for a sweet date night out.

Finally, what’s under the hood… a 1.6T-GDi Hybrid 6-speed automatic AWD comes standard across the range (with whispers of a 2.5 litre engine in the works). Driving this robust vehicle may look like it could be clunky, but the Santa Fe’s steering softly floats like a butterfly with a kick when accelerating.

While an entry into the Monaco Grand Prix isn’t on the cards, it has suitable guts for city commuting and hitting the Pacific Highway without hurting the hip pocket thanks to its lower fuel consumption.

All in all, the brand spanking new 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy is a Gold Coast gals dream mobile combining striking eye candy street appeal with a luxe interior.

THE SEA-CRET IS OUT!

Our in-fin-ite love for Miami Fish Market just got batter!

Here on the GC, it’s easy to get a little caught up in the hype of chasing all the latest food trends. Sometimes they bring us good things (hey spicy margs) and sometimes our starry-eyed quest for the latest kimchi-infused-croissant-burger (pls no one actually make this) means we momentarily forget happiness from our tried and true faves. After all, the key ingredients for a good time are pretty simple: eats and sips that just make you feel good.

Miami Fish Market has already made waves as the go-to spot for premium seafood on the GC and now they’re reeling us in with their latest catch: a brand-new fish and chips menu. This Codfather of seafood sorcery has now launched their exciting foray into cooked menu items and trust us, it’s off the scales. BTW if you can think of a better pun, be sure

to drop us a line (ba dum tss).

Known for their commitment to sourcing the best seasonal seafood, Miami Fish Market’s fish and chips menu is already making an almighty splash. While you can still take home fresh and live seafood or enjoy a seat in their courtyard courtesy of the fin-tastic oyster and sashimi bar, this new addition brings a whole new kettle of fish to their already exsquid-sit offering.

The menu features family-friendly classics like Line-Caught Local Snapper and New Zealand Hoki, along with the all-time cult classic Fish Burger. But what sets Miami Fish Market apart is their adventurous range, including Whole Flash-Fried Whitebait, School Prawns, Five Spice Kingfish Wings, and Kombu Butter-Glazed Patagonian Toothfish. Feeling roe-mantic? Add some Caviar to your Potato Scallop for an indulgent twist #fancy!

Not content with just a fixed menu, Miami Fish Market also offers customers the option to select their own fillet of fish from their extensive retail display, cooked to perfection. Depending on the season, you could be enjoying hyperlocal daily catches, King George Whiting from Victoria, Coral Trout from Far North

Queensland, or Swordfish and Mahi Mahi from Mooloolaba.

And let’s not forget about the sides! A fresh salad bar, featuring the Gloftis Family Greek Salad, will be on daily rotation, and the perfect complement to your fish and chips feast.

Paul and Fallon Gloftis, the dynamic duo behind Miami Fish Market, have poured their hearts and souls into creating this menu, drawing inspo from their fave dishes abroad. From the special recipe batter to the housemade sauces, every detail has been carefully considered to ensure a truly un-fin-gettable dining experience.

Paul shared his excitement about the new menu, saying, “We are so excited and proud to be able to offer our valued customers real fish and chips. Not frozen, mislabelled, mystery produce – which unfortunately is all too common across the industry.”

He continued, “We have spent a good twoand a-bit years building up our select network of premium Australian seafood producers for our retail store – and now customers will have access to this same beautiful fish, cooked up their favourite way, all in a super casual setting. It’s pretty special and a completely different offering to anything else you will find on the Gold Coast.”

While phone orders aren’t a thing yet, online orders will be launching soon providing added convenience for patrons frothing to get their hands on Miami Fish Market’s delish-fish-ness.

So, if you’re looking to reel in some seriously good fish and chips, head on down to Miami Fish Market and have a go of their exciting new menu. With their reel dedication to quality and a passion for seafood, it’s sure to be a dining experience you won’t fish-get! We’re fin-ished.

VIEWS AND BREWS

Meet D-bar’s dinki-di new caffeination destination, Black Dingo Cafe.

How good are sequels from our favourite haunts? Before we’ve even set foot in the door, we know our tastebuds are in for a treat. Couple that gastronomic good standing with a ripper of a spot, and you’ve got D-bar’s dinki-di new caffeination destination, Black Dingo Cafe.

Brought to us by a man with a talent for several things – including sniffing out a pearler of a spot – Black Dingo Cafe is the brand new chapter for Cooly Breeze chef-restauranteur, Marcondes Almeida Neto.

Tucked beneath the iconic lighthouse, find Coolangatta’s latest lurking mere metres from where sand meets sea, overlooking Point Danger’s sweeping outlook. Foodie prospects in Rainbow Bay’s little slice of paradise have certainly been on the rise in recent times.

A little farther up the road on Griffith Street, you’ll also find Marcondes’s original fine dining destination, Cooly Breeze Rooftop Restaurant & Bar –consistently delivering epic eats and stellar views to southern folk since 2021. With sweeping views to the southern coastline and Tweed River surrounds, the panoramicallyblessed duo’s 13th floor big sis boasts a pretty swell vantage of its own. Hailing from the UK and spending some 16 years bouncing around Europe honing his craft; it was a stint in Italy cheffing along the stunning Mediterranean coast that led Marcondes to fall for all things coast and sea.

Infusing those now-trademark Mediterranean influences into Black Dingo’s menu, beach goers can now refuel with next-level cafe fare like Lamb Shoulder Baguette, made with 12h slow cooked lamb, Swiss cheese, wild rocket and Tzatziki sauce, or Prosciutto, Confit Tomato and Buffalo Mozzarella stuffed La Bella Focaccia’s.

How’s that for beach bites – you can’t take the fine dining out of the man, huh! #IsItLunchTimeYet? Frosty treats like Gelato, Smoothies and Açai Bowls will be a hot

commodity on those scorcher salty sessions. Along with pooch-friendly option for our furry friends, and freshly brewed coffee going down a treat any day ending in ‘y’.

Drawn to the new location for… obvious reasons… Marcondes wanted his second venture to capture that same ‘invigorating energy of the beach’. With a killer spot procured, Marcondes set about creating a carefully-crafted menu inspired by the coastal lifestyle and using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with a special focus on creating a welcoming, pet-friendly destination the whole community can enjoy.

The Black Dingo moniker, meanwhile, was chosen to honour the heritage of Duranbah Beach. Named after the SS Duranbah that ran aground there in 1919, Marcondes shares that the cafe’s name is a nod to the area’s traditional name – known to the Gudjinburra-Minyangbal people of the Bundjalong nation as Moy Ngagamb, or ‘Black Dingo Beach’.

Creating a venue that ‘celebrates the beauty of the ocean and the joy of sharing it with loved ones’, there’s certainly more to Black Dingo than meets the tastebuds – though the allure of an especially tantalising all-day eats selection sure won’t hurt the cause in the slightest! Enticing D-bah perambulators daily with portable morsels like B&E Rolls, Bug or Smoked Salmon stuffed Bagels and Pork Belly Baguettes, there’s plenty here to keep locals coming back for more.

We’re onto something pretty darned spesh with this one, Gold Coasters!

‘TIS THE SEASON FOR THE MOST SPECTACULAR CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Jingle All the Way to GCCEC’s Christmas Bash!

Christmas is right around the corner!

We’ll give you a minute for the inevitable “where did the time go” freak out. Ok, now that we’ve cracked open that Santa sack, let’s talk about how to make this season extra merry and bright. Those wishful letters to the North Pole are great, but we need something a bit more… substantial. And before you accuse us of jumping the gun a bit with talk about Christmas this is one event you need to know about way ahead of time.

Enter the annual Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (GCCEC) Christmas extravaganza (with its free-flowing drinks. More on that later). Arguably the hottest ticket in town. And one that is guaranteed to sell out- consider yourself warned.

If you’re new in town, let us introduce you to the GCCEC’s tradition of hosting the Gold Coast’s most magical Christmas event. They’re like the Martha Stewart of throwing Christmas parties, without the insider trading. Year after year, the GCCEC finds new ways to sleigh their advent event, surpassing expectations and leaving attendees awestruck.

Is anyone else taking notes? We could all use a few tips to make our own holiday celebrations as festive and fantastic!

Whether you’re rounding up friends and fam or toasting another year of toiling with some corporate-style cheer for the work crew, the GCCEC Christmas event needs to be on your radar as you ponder the perfect festive season celebration for your fellow comrades. It’s been almost two decades since their first

iconic event, and the city’s favourite Noel party has only grown in popularity, completely selling out tickets for the past five years – even over COVID! Needless to say, they are quite the spectacle.

This year’s theme is ‘Deck The Halls’, and we can assure you, no cookies or milk have been left on the table.

That’s your queue to book the babysitter –we have festivities to attend to.

Get set for a night of unforgettable Christmas merriment that’ll make even the North Pole jealous! A sumptuous four-course dinner and 4.5 hours of free-flowing premium refreshments sets the stage for an evening of festive delight.

The dance floor awaits with your favourite decade hits from Stu Campbell and Magic Carpet Ride followed by live entertainment to keep the good times sleighing into the night.

Santa’s elves have nothing on the party planners here at GCCEC – it’s inevitable the evening will be packed with more cheer than a sleigh full of presents.

All this for a very jolly $195 per person! I think it goes without saying that just like Santa on Christmas night, these tickets don’t stick around long. But don’t get your tinsel in a tangle! Tickets are still available.

Don’t miss out on the chance to jingle all the way to a night of holiday magic! The jolly man himself has even awarded this event five stars (credible stuff).

14 DECEMBER

DON’T DELAY. JUST ESCARGOT!

Le Petit Chef in Broadbeach is brie-ond belief!

Excuse our French but we NEED to talk about the best tart-are in town! Le Petit Chef may be small by name but don’t be fooled, as the authentic flavours at this finedining French foodie haven are tres grande!

As you step into the refined yet cosy space, you’ll be greeted by a charming mix of oldworld France and modern sophistication. Already the subject of water cooler chat all over town, it seamlessly blends elegance with an inviting sense of warmth.

Serving up an unforgettable journey into the heart of French cuisine, everything from the nosh to the impeccable service to the French tunes playing in the background will transport you to Europe’s golden child destination – minus the jet lag. Comfortably

seating 30 diners or hosting up to 45 for a cocktail canapé-style soiree, it’s versatile and a virtuoso of its craft.

The power couple behind our new datenight / mate-night / any night go-to is Arthur and Aimy-Lee Duvillier. Arthur, who is also the Head Chef, has been cooking up a storm since the tender age of 14. While most of us were just figuring out how to use a jaffle maker, Arthur was mastering the fine art of French cuisine in Noumea, New Caledonia. With 14 years of experience under his belt, his French cooking skills are second-to-none.

By his side is the lovely Aimy-Lee, the customer service and event planning champi(gn)on of the business. With her eight years of experience, this hostess with the mostess will make sure that you not only dine like a VIP but feel like one too.

‘Nuff of that, let’s talk about the MVP –the food. For lunch you can order two or three courses and we recommend starting with Tartare De Boeuf Du Chef; Chef’s beef tartare. For mains, you can’t beat Blanquette De Veau Accompagnée De Pommes De Terre Kipfler; French veal stew with creamy white sauce served with kipfler potatoes. And for dessert, no one does a Plateau De Fromage Français (French cheese platter) quite like Le

Petit Chef! And because, well, cheese.

If you’re visiting for dinner, choose from either the a la carte menu or the four course menu for an extra spesh night out.

Whichever way you go, the signature dish is a must; Boeuf Rossini, Épinards Et Jus À La Truffe. Featuring beef Rossini, pan fried Foie Gras, spinach and truffle jus, it’s the duck’s nuts and well worth the splurge.

The only way this could possibly be better is if you prelude your main with an entrée, like Saint Jacques Et Son Siphon De Corail Au Safran (aka pan fry scallops and coral saffron siphon). And at this point, you may as well go full pig-out mode and opt-in for sweets too. Our pick is the Duo De Mousse Au Chocolat, Consummé De Fraise À L’estragon; a duo of chocolate mousse, strawberry and tarragon consommé. Ooh la la!

Le Petit Chef also offers private dining experiences tailored just for you. Whether it’s a romantic dinner, a family celebration, or a corporate event, they’ll create a bespoke experience with personalised menus and perfect wine pairings. Plus, they even regularly host cultural events and workshops, from culinary masterclasses to wine-tasting sessions.

So mesdames et messieurs, don’t baguette about it – put Le Petit Chef at the top of your list and experience the very best of authentic French cuisine right here on the GC.

“We invite you to embark on an unforgettable journey into the heart of French cuisine and culture.” – Arthur & Aimy-Lee

YOUR NEW HOME(STEAD) AWAY FROM HOME

The stunning new venue to enjoy koala-ty eats in Currumbin.

Nestled among the lush backdrop of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, The Homestead is a jack of all trades because not only is it one of the prettiest new venues here on the Gold Coast – and trust us, we’ve seen our fair share – it also doubles as the ultimate spot for a bite to eat while you get at one with nature.

It’s also the biggest investment the crew at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary have made to the precinct in over 75 years, so we guess you could say it’s kind of a big deal since the Sanctuary is one of the Gold Coast’s mostloved and awarded tourism precincts within the city. They know a thing or two about how to create a ripper experience.

The venue is a celebration of all things Australiana with inspiration taken from our iconic Outback to blend modern design with the charm of a traditional Queensland homestead. The Queenslander-style home is where all the action takes place, with the perfect blend of modern and rustic finishes making it the perfect place to host your special day, whether that be a wedding or corporate event.

Not getting married anytime soon? Neither, but not a problem because we bet you’re still in need of a feed at some point, right. Well, we know a place. The Homestead is also the new home of casual dining for visitors to the sanctuary, making it the perfect spot to perch up for a bite during your day of sightseeing. What could beat tucking into a mean Outback Sandwich while visiting Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to cuddle a koala? Spoiler alert: NOTHING.

Australian food takes pride of place for good reason, with The Homestead setting out to capture the essence of our homegrown hospitality and that’s exactly what they nail. And there’s something about being among the

trees and wildlife while you tuck into some great food that’s got us fighting back the urge to let out a big old ommmmm.

Celebrating the best of our homegrown food and flavours, with things like the Wattle Seed Damper and Coral Coast Barramundi alongside ingredients like native herbs and bush tomatoes bringing a taste of our authentic tucker to your favourite meals.

Local produce is a common theme across the paddock to plate style menu with everything from vegetables, herbs and even seafood found from our own backyard – literally, some are even grown onsite.

The darling of the menu is without a doubt the Darling Downs Black Angus, sure to be a favourite for the meat lover in your life. It brings 200grams of marbled goodness to the table and since we’ve never met a potato we didn’t like – it’s the unsung hero of the vegetable world in our opinion – the duck fat kipfler potatoes are a bonus.

The Homestead’s refreshing spin on casual dining has quickly made it a winner in our books, plus your purchase means the team at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary keep getting to do their amazing animal conservation work – talk about putting your money where your mouth is.

THIS FOODIE DESTINATION HAS TO BE SERENE TO BE BELIEVED

Farm & Co Restaurant’s bounty of offerings are ripe for the picking.

Nestled in the scenically-blessed Tweed Valley countryside, Farm & Co Restaurant is a foodie haven famous for its sunflower-studded expanses and its unique farm-to-plate dining experience. Cudgen’s gorgeous drive-and-dine destination boasts a star-studded group of hospitality gurus who have harnessed this organic working farm’s magic.

Now they’re cooking up a fresh batch of experiences and tastes for us to discover. And we are ready as ever to oblige! What better time to escape the hustle-bustle and explore the wide open spaces a little further afield?

Farm & Co has been described as one of the locals’ best-kept secrets. We apologise in advance to the locals for spreading the word

but locations this good can’t stay on the down low forever.

Inspired by a love for great food and top-notch service, Farm & Co Restaurant is dedicated to educating, nourishing, and inspiring its guests with sustainable produce and simple yet delicious cooking.

Savoured alongside the paddocks where produce is grown. It’s a true taste of the Tweed Coast, perfect for family friendly outings and special events.

Jump in the car and head south for the weekly ‘Spritz and Sticks’. Hosted from 1pm-3pm every Sunday, diners can enjoy a delicious weekly rotation of $8 fire roasted skewers and spritzes. With options like Charred Pork Belly with House BBQ Glaze and Cucumber Pickle, Kingfish and Harissa with Mint Yoghurt or Oyster Mushroom and Miso Butter with XO Oil, all enjoyed with a selection of house-carbonated spritzes with housemade syrups. We’re there!

Cementing Farm & Co’s status as a favourite among families and daytrippers, the recently revived ‘Day on the Lawn’ series bolsters the venue’s already popular restaurant and adjoining farmgate store and café offering.

Hosted on the last Sunday of every month, the picture-perfect destination opens its gates for a day of picnicking and live music filled farm-style revelling on the restaurant lawn – and perhaps even a brush with farm’s resident rescue piggies Hank and Pepe, if we’re lucky!

But don’t put a fork in us yet, we’re not done.

Legendary restauranteur David Moyle has joined Farm & Co Restaurant’s team of culinary co-conspirators in an advisory capacity, working with venue manager Amy Brown to craft the restaurant’s new menu around the property’s anticipated seasonal spoils.

Joining perennial fan faves like the puffed-up Pizza Fritta bread and signature Wood-Smoked Lamb Shoulder, guests can expect a fresh wave of delights including the Roasted Gold Band Snapper with Leeks and Sunflower Seeds, and Ham Hock and Farm Cabbage Terrine with Gentleman’s Relish

“We serve rustic, wholesome, good-quality food made with ingredients harvested daily from the farm as well as local organic produce, and David’s mentorship instils the confidence that what are doing is special, authentic and unique,” says Amy.

Anyone else suddenly very keen for a weekend sojourn south of the border? If you’re craving a culinary adventure that’s as fresh as the produce on your plate, make your way to Farm & Co.

Pro tip: visit for lunch Friday-Sunday when you can add a farm stroll to your restaurant experience!

AMARO YOU READY FOR THIS?

Bitter is better at Loborn.

If the sight of a spritz gracing the cocktail list makes your heart skip a beat, or the very thought of Apertivo Hour gets your tastebuds tingling – we’ve got two little words to make your whole day: Tasting. Bar. Or, Loborn – as Tamborine Mountain’s latest specialty sip spot is officially known.

Bringing a taste of Italy with a distinctly Australian twist, Loborn is the specialty distillery levelling up the Mountain’s sip scene. Showcasing modern amaro infused with local botanicals, Tambo’s stunning new tasting room offers a variety of ways to familiarise ourselves with its herbaceous star sip.

Nestled amongst Main Street’s lush greenery, swing by for cocktail service or a walk-in tasting. Discerning liquor connoisseurs can go behind the brand’s two signature aperitif blends and

their signature gin, with experiences and masterclasses to delve into.

For those partial to sun-soaked arvos with a spritz firmly planted in hand, this home-grown distillery comes as a particularly tantalising development. Bittersweet Italian liqueurs, collectively known as ‘amaro’, have quite literally been having their moment in the sun of late. Even if you’re not up with all the technical lingo, chances are you’re already a big fan (huge, even) of this herbaceous sip. Thanks to the surging popularity of aperitif-based cocktails like the classic Negroni and Aperol Spritz, this bold citrusy style of libation has earned its place as a cocktail list (and happy hour) staple.

Now with a spot dedicated to this very sub-category, Loborn – short for ‘Locally Born Spirits’ – is the handiwork of Thomas Drewett. Specialising in traditional Italian methods melded with hinterland-inspired ingredients and surrounds, the lip-smacking new venture all began with one thought: what if Tom could reinvent the famous bitter aperitif using local Australian botanicals? Asking the real questions here!

A Tamborine local of several years, Tom was inspired by the mountainside community’s abundance of produce – particularly the local

oranges. And when life hands you a bumper supply of citrus, naturally, the next logical step is to try your hand at the age-old craft of amaro. Or it is when you’re one ambitious fella with a background in engineering! Channelling that expertise into the complexities of distillation and flavour, Tom embraced the challenge of perfecting the precise art/science behind traditional Amaro.

Emerging victorious the brand now boasts two signature, botanical-rich blends. Thirstly, there’s Amaro No. 01 – a bright and vibrant aperitif ideal for a golden hour spritz. While Amaro No. 02 is a bolder, ruby red Australian amaro packed with bittersweet complexity (think Negroni or Americano). Also on offer is the Loborn Original Gin, which blends juniper with native citrus for a crisp dry finish.

Then there’s the little matter of the brand new HQ Loborn is now flaunting; perched within North Stores’ food, art and nature precinct in the heart of Tamborine. With the fit-out led by Ashlea O’Neill, the vibe is modern utilitarian, but beautiful – which is only befitting for a crew of modern Amaro makers residing in an architecturally designed creative hub!

Tempting locals and day-trippers with everything from crafted tipples like the Loborn Spritz to private tasting experiences and masterclasses – this one goes straight to the top of the ‘must try’ list cocktail fans! Like, this weekend.

NATIVE NOMMS NEWBIE ALERT!

Discover Aussie fusion cuisine at Native Harvest.

When you think of classic Aussie ingredients, the humble vegemite and smashed up Tim Tams may spring to mind. And if you were made in the 80s, chips without chicken salt were basically illegal. But fast-forward to 2024 and a new café and bar at Sanctuary Cove is flipping the script in the form of a GC-first; Australian fusion cuisine. Introducing Native Harvest, whose sensational menu is a love letter to ‘Straya’s native ingredients, showcasing the incredible flavours, aromas, and colours of our homeland.

Think pure, uniquely Australian herbs and spices with incredible flavours you won’t find anywhere else. With a bright, welcoming atmosphere and indoor and alfresco dining options for up to 100 hungry peeps, Native

Harvest is perfect for soaking up the marina views and enjoying some people-watching with your pals… and your pups (yes, it’s doggo-friendly!). And don’t forget to stop and smell the native plants out front – they’re not just for show, they’re for tasting too!

As the Marine Village is a melting pot of eclectic dining and shopping delights, Sanctuary Cove was a no-brainer choice of digs for seriously savvy (and spectacularly downto-earth) founders, Brendan and Amanda Trapnell.

With an all-star team, prime location, and a mouthwatering menu, they’ve certainly hit the ground running. And fast.

Behind every great meal is an equally great team and these guys have struck staff gold. Let’s start with Head Chef Dony, who was tasked with a) cooking incredible food, and b) incorporating an entirely different cuisine (with very different flavours and preparation styles) – in just three weeks. Drawing on his 20 years’ experience as a chef in Oz and the UK and his god given gift to cook, Dony did good. Real good. In his words, “I like experimenting with different dishes and for everyone to enjoy their meals, and Native Harvest is different. Something truly exciting to bring to the Gold

Coast.” Editor’s note: he’s being endearingly coy. The man is a gastronomic genius.

A special shoutout must also go to front-ofhouse fabulist and bonza barista, Nicky, and the rest of the stellar crew who all bring something truly special to the proverbial and actual table.

As for the best dishes, good luck trying to pick one but we’re going with the Smoked Salmon Omelette with an Australian Native twist for breaky, two egg omelette with smoked salmon, red onion, fresh tomato, sprinkled with native basil and pepperberry

Brunch buffs, have a go of the Zesty Chicken Caprese Salad with buttermilk marinated chicken tenders, fresh tomato wedges, house-made pickled red onions, bush tomato relish, grilled haloumi, and fresh greens. Or, if you’re in a lunch state of mind, tuck into a native glazed Wild Beef Burger, with an Aussie beef patty, pepperberry and native thyme, caramelised onion, and bush tomato relish on a lightly toasted milk bun

Okay we’ve neglected something v important thus far and how remiss of us; the cocktails. To wet your whistle, Native Harvest’s Native Berry Gin Fizz is the rizz, with locally distilled lilly pilly gin, fresh lime and club soda. We’ll take two (times two) thanks.

From the vibrant atmosphere to the friendly faces behind the counter, every aspect of Native Harvest exudes warmth and hospitality. Delight in the fabulous food, stay for the vibes, and leave with an insatiable hunger (and thirst) to come back again…and again.

SEA-ZE THE DAY

Sip. Savour. Repeat at Awaken Cafe.

If you haven’t dipped your toes into the brewtiful Awaken Café at Coolangatta yet, it’s high tide time you did! Opening with a splash in March, this coastal gem is more than just a pretty view and their delicious array of post surf fresh treats is already making waves.

Inviting us to roll in off the blissful beach and straight into the café, its iconic oceanfacing location is rivalled only by the impeccable noms and coastal chic aesthetics. Because looks matter when it comes to our fave eats and sips spaces.

Speaking of, let’s dive belly-first into the menu choccas with freshly homemade goodness. Start your day right with a classic Cheese Toasty or the oh-so-satisfying Focaccia Pizza, for the best kind of carb coma?

Need a vitamin sea boost? The freshly squeezed juices will do the trick and if you’re in the mood for something fruity but hearty, the amazing acai bowls are just the ticket.

Another quintessential café fave at Awaken are the sensational Salmon Breakfast Rolls. Pie and pastry lovers are also in for a treat, with a sumptuous selection that’s as flaky as every guy you ever met at Melba’s.

Moving on to lunch, it would be criminal not to shout-out the melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu Meat Burger, and the Soup of the Day for those looking for a cozy winter-warmer option.

For a bit more background for Awaken virgins, we describe it as a love letter to the classic Queensland cafés of yesteryear – but with a modern twist.

The light, airy décor and coastal furnishings complete with retro touches create an inviting space that’s as charming as it is chic. The floor tiling and display counters are reminiscent of the textured pathways leading you down to the ocean, which you can do for real after your morning or arvo pitstop.

You can chill inside or soak up the sun, ocean breezes, and panoramic views from Snapper Rocks to Duranbah Beach in the

Fido-friendly outdoor seated area. That’s right, canines and caffeine lovers unite here, with both two-legged and four-legged patrons welcomed with open paws.

Directed by the legendary John Gambaro, we’re eternally grateful that he brought a taste of hospitality giant Gambaro Group’s gastronomic greatness (say that five times) to our ‘hood.

With over 65 years in the hospitality game, the Gambaro Group’s Brissie-based runaway success stories include Black Hide Steakhouses, Persone Italian Restaurant, and of course, Gambaro Seafood Restaurant.

They’re also behind Cooly’s other fave new kid on the block, Pipi’s (see page 6), which fun fact: is just upstairs from Awaken!

So, what are you waiting for – get Awakened! Suited to a tea (or a coffee, juice or smoothie) to the area’s easy-going lifestyle and chill vibes, swing in to sample their mouth-watering menu – sea you there!

For small groups of 20 people and under, reserve a section of Catch Restaurant and toast the season with plenty of new friends while sampling delicious dishes from a choice of a two-course or three-course menu.

Think entrees like Prawn Toast and mains like Saltwater Grilled Barramundi or Chicken Breast with coconut, lime and chilli and a third course of Vanilla Crème Brûlée or a Strawberry Ice Cream Sandwich if you go for three courses (highly recommend).

Small group menus start at $46 per person and include centrepiece decorations and bon bons. You can of course add a beverage package or just pay for beverages as you go. Larger groups of 20 or more can choose from

a themed package in The Ballroom, Promenade Room, Poolside (yes please) or at the Deck Bar which means you get exclusive use of whichever space you choose.

Starting from $119 per person with a three hour drinks package included, you’ll be choosing from a Set Menu with dishes like Smoked Duck Breast and Braised Beef Short Rib with Chocolate Fondant for dessert.

There’s a Cocktail Party option with cold canapés such as Torched Brie on Toast, Chopped Prawn Cocktails and Mac and Cheese Croquettes among a many others plus a Cocktail Party option with fork dishes like Pumpkin Aranchini and Hokkein Noodles

On top of these choose from Gold or Silver beverage packages with plenty of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

As you can see it’s a no brainer – the hardest part will be deciding between that equally enticing selection of swanky Hilton Surfers Paradise spots on offer, and then Wham.. you’ll have this celebration business wrapped up quicker than you can belt out a boozy rendition of ‘Last Christmas’.

BREAD-Y FOR GLUTEN-FREE GOODNESS?

We

love Sacre Coeur Patisserie a scroll lot.

If you’re a big flan of baked goods, but your dietaries aren’t typically down with the likes of cakes, croissants, and flaky treats – we donut mean to alarm you, but there’s a new gluten free and vegan bakery in our midst.

Dishing up a selection of delicious and dietary-friendly goodies, Sacre Coeur Patisserie is the brand new plant-based treat slinger on Southport’s block you really knead to meet.

Occupying the cosy corner tenancy of Scarborough and Railway Streets, the cute, green-clad new cafe offers a gluten free and vegan menu just a block beyond Southport’s Broadwater Parklands.

Serving a fresh-baked selection of specialty pastries, cakes, pies, fresh salads, freshly squeezed juices and coffees Monday to Saturday; the new plant-based bakehouse pride themselves on a healthier approach to typical Parisian fare with a range of refined sugar free creations.

Tempting passersby with an array of tum and tastebud-approved treats such as Almond or Pistachio croissants, Strawberry tartes and Bolognaise pies

A delectable cafe debut, Sacre Coeur is the handiwork of French-born chef Jordan Tanye and Verity Hopkins. Prior to making their move from France, the husband and wife duo dedicated their time to scouring the streets of Paris for the best vegan haunts, sharing that they found the illusive perfect plant-based croissant to be “few and far between”.

Packing up their fam to make the move to Australia back in 2021, it was this fateful, cross-continent sized fresh start that finally inspired Jordan to finally pursue his passion for food. Picking up work locally as a chef, it was around the same time Jordan also began tinkering with the art of vegan viennoiserie.

With Jordan’s melt-in-your-mouth wares soon perfected, it didn’t take long for the requests to start rolling in, “once I cracked it, a friend had asked me to make a bunch for a birthday party, and they were a hit” he says.

From there, the pair jumped straight into making waves on our local market scene, with several month stints at both Burleigh and PBC Markets proving to be a success, they were on a roll.

“It seemed the next logical step was to open a cafe,” Jordan adds.

“A huge and scary step for us but one we are so happy we took.”

Bringing their treats to the masses via the 30 pax brick-and-mortar space they now call home, diners can grab treats to-go or pull up a pew with sidewalk-style all-weather seating at which to savour their golden-baked goodies.

Delighting diners with their vegan menu, Sacre Coeur also whips up a rotating range of wheat-free Cinnamon Scrolls, Cookies and Croissants, so our celiac and sensitive-tummed pals needn’t miss out on this pastry tastebud party either.

For this pair of longtime pastry and cafe culture lovers; opening a cafe of their own is a real dream crumb true.

And on behalf of those of us for whom pastries occupy more of our thoughts than we care to admit, a cute new shop slinging better-for-us baked goods is very much a dream crumb true for us too.
