LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Welcome to issue seven. We’ve got suggestions for new music, a beautiful photo series by Kylie Langley , and a heartfelt article by Cindy Miller. Personally this has been one of my favorite issues to create, and I hope it’s one you enjoy reading. Our theme for February is companionship. I felt like love would be too obvious (for Valentine's day), but having someone around to share things with is nice, whether romantic or not. So of course I had to feature peoples’ pets and do a photoshoot with my best friend. Shout out to Ain.

Companionship is something everybody needs a little bit of, whether spending the whole day with your favorite person, grabbing lunch with your mom, sitting with your pet, or just having a nice conversation with your cashier. Thanks for sticking with me for the past eight months.

SPOTLIGHT The 1970s fashion has been working on a come back for a while now. First came flared, flowy sleeves, then the corduroy skirts, and now flared pants are next on the fashion agenda.

Together, even when apart. This past Christmas was my boyfriend, Kiet, and I’s first Christmas together. Kiet and I met our freshman year of college and we were together almost every day. He was by my side through everything and was always there to support me. We didn't start dating until the beginning of sophomore year. With meeting through college, one of the best benefits, especially with being on a small campus, is never being more than ten minutes away. Kiet's dorm is exactly five minutes walking from me. We see each other every day. Even if it's just for 15 minutes and that's relieving to me.

it. I reached for the white box and I could feel excitement emanating from him. I opened the box and there sat two bracelets. Both bracelets had round beads on a stretchy band with my favorite color, purple, and his favorite, red. One had a majority of purple beads with six beads that were red, the other one was vice versa, a majority of red beads with six purple beads. Before I even knew what to do, Kiet reached over, took the bracelet with more red beads and slipped it onto his wrist. I follow his actions and slip the purple bracelet over my hand. He kisses me on the cheek and states, “So we can always be together.” The purple on t Kiet, on Christmas, drove from New Haven, Connecticut to Londonderry, New Hampshire in a snow storm to spend his Christmas with my family and me. He was willing to drive 3 hours to stay with me for Christmas.

Winter break at our school is a month long. I had no issue with the time apart, and as the loving companion he is, he gave me very sweet presents. A huge fluffy duck, which is my favorite animal, a huge cute bow, a heartfelt card, and googly eyes. However, one simple item plucked at my heart strings Kiet is one of my best and it rang out a beautiful tune. friends and he is an even more At the bottom of the wonderful boyfriend. He is one seemingly infinite Christmas bag of my best companions and to was a small box with a bow on know that someone out there

wants to be with me all the time is a beautiful thing to remember. We haven’t taken our bracelets off since we got them. His companionship is always with me. For anyone who has a best friend who lives far away, a significant other who you feel special about, or a family member they are very close with, I highly recommend getting distance bracelets for each other. They are a beautiful and simple piece of jewelry that has so much meaning.

Sometimes you just want to in the same room. Sometimes it’s better to sit a little closer. Whether you’re filling the air with talk or sitting in a comfortable silence, the presence of another is comforting. To have someone who you can be around without having to worry about any judgment being passed. Relationships—whether family, friends, significant other—are important.
