Board Positions Open for 2017 Election As a member of Inland Power, you own the utility. That ownership comes with benefits including local control and accountability, meaning your choice of co-op leaders. Coop members in essence “hire” their board members to lead the cooperative when they elect them to the board. Here at Inland Power, our elected board members are called “trustees.”

Election results will be announced at Inland Power’s annual meeting on Saturday, March 25, 2017. As approved and sanctioned at Inland Power’s 2016 annual meeting, each active membership is entitled to one vote for each district up for election either in person at the annual meeting or by mail-in or electronic ballot. For those undecided voters and attendees at the annual meeting, candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and give a quick three minute speech to the membership open in detailing their qualifications as well.

The word “trustee” gets to the heart of the matter. Co-op members are entrusting board members to keep their co-op strong. The job is more than attending board meetings. Trustees must learn about complicated issues in the energy business and foresee challenges in providing affordable and reliable power. They forge Positions a long-term plan for the sustainability of the cooperative. They hire the CEO. They District 4, reach out and listen to the members, speak up for the cooperative and stand up for members at every turn. Trustees District 7 and are stewards of that purpose and should make every decision big or small with At-Large Position the members in mind. If this sounds like a position for you, Inland Power’s nominating committee is accepting applications for board positions in District 4, District 7 and At-Large Position B. Please send your request for the 2017 Nomination of Candidates, Explanation and Requirements packet outlining candidate qualifications, responsibilities and the application process to Jennifer Hattamer at jenniferh@inlandpower.com or by phone at (509) 747-7151. Prospective candidates are required to submit a resume, biography, photo, statement of candidacy along with consent to a basic criminal background check by January 6, 2017. The nominating committee will meet in mid-January to review all applications received and make nominations based on those with the most appropriate qualifications. Additionally, co-op members may be nominated by petition along with the prerequisite applicant documents and background check.

• District 4: Includes all the area served by Inland Power south of a line along Highway 206 from Highway 395 until such highway ends and then south of a line proceeding due east from the end of Highway 206, east of Highway 395 north of Spokane and east of Highway 195 south of Spokane, and north of a line proceeding east from Highway 195 along the Spokane-Whitman county line. • District 7: Includes all the area served by Inland Power south of a line along Highway 26 from Washtucna to its junction with Highway 195, then along Highway 195 to its junction with Highway 270, then along Highway 270 to its end. • At-Large Position B: Candidates for at-large positions can be from any district but both at-large trustees cannot be from the same district. Currently, the At-Large Position A trustee resides within District 4.
