Welcome everyone to the new Look Inland Solutions Magazine. As you can see we are a bigger publication than before which makes us stand out from the all English A5 publications that seem to be appearing everywhere. We are also striving to give Businesses more impact, offering help and more advertising choices at reasonable prices. For the readers we hope that you will find it an easier read with many articles translated into Spanish which should help you to learn the Spanish language, and (vice versa) to help the Spanish people learn the English language. In this edition we have changed the format by printing English & Spanish articles in both languages side by side instead of the front half in English & the back half in Spanish.

To bring you more local news and events from Loja, Iznajar, Archidona, Trabuco, Aguadulce, Estepa, Puente Genil etc, we need your help and response to send us news about any upcoming events, activities and information about what´s going on in your area otherwise, unfortunately the distribution to these areas may stop.

Please help us to help you advertise your events. So many people are looking for places to go and only find out about events after they´ve been held.

Poppy appeal donating target smashed this year The Royal British Legion Mollina branch would like to congratulate and thank members and friends for once again smashing the target for this year's Poppy appeal donating a total of €7140 an increase of over 6% on last year...............

Lesley Taylor the branch Poppy Appeal organiser gave a breakdown of the collection which though focussed on Remembrance time actually takes place all year round. In thanking members, Lesley stressed that most of the money raised came from members and friends enjoying themselves at the branch social events.

“As in most organisations only about a third of the membership participate in these events so imagine how much we could contribute if we increased the participation rate” stated Marty Powe, the branch Chairman, as he thanked Lesley and her team at a Bring and Buy Sale on 9th December which raised € 251 to kick start next year's appeal.

The Mollina branch meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month except July and August at the Parque"La Vina" the owners of which, Rural Mollina, have been very supportive during the two years we have been using the venue and members were enthusiastic in their appreciation of this support.

Éxito de público en la programación navideña de Fuente de Piedra El Equipo de Gobierno del Ayuntamiento de Fuente Piedra considera muy positivo el balance de la programación navideña que se ha desarrollado en el pueblo, una programación que se ha visto respaldada por una mayor participación de los vecinos que en años anteriores. La Concejala de Fiestas y Cultura, Susana García, reconoce que el Equipo de Gobierno se ha volcado con la programación “hecha con mucha ilusión pero desde la responsabilidad en cuanto al presupuesto gastado” y que las actividades “han tenido muy buena acogida por parte del público”. Por su parte, el Alcalde, Paco Hidalgo, considera que “el éxito servirá como estimulo para continuar trabajando en la misma línea de cara a los próximos eventos que se desarrollen.

En total se han realizado más de cuarenta actividades dirigidas a niños, jóvenes y mayores. Las actividades se han desarrollado en diferentes espacios a lo largo y ancho del municipio tales como Casa de la Cultura, Biblioteca, Pabellón Municipal "José Mª Cañero, Colegio, Guardería, Tenencia de Alcaldía de la Realenga e incluso en la propia calle.

La programación ha cuidado especialmente satisfacer los gustos de todos los vecinos y visitantes del pueblo. Desde el encuentro de Villancicos y Feria de Artesanía local, que ha supuesto todo un éxito en cuanto a acogida y participación, pasando por las actividades de cine en la casa de la cultura, trofeo de Tenis, trofeo de Pádel, concurso de fachadas navideñas, Zambomba flamenca al pie de la fuente que da nombre al municipio, karaoke navideño, visita del Cartero Real, la llegada al municipio de los Reyes a caballo por la mañana, la recepción de los Reyes en el Ayuntamiento por parte del Alcalde, Día de la Bicicleta el 6 de Enero, Roscón de Reyes gigante en la Calle La Iglesia o los ya tradicionales concursos y talleres navideños.

Hay que hacer mención especial a la magnífica Cabalgata de Reyes que hizo la tarde noche del 5 de Enero que los niños y niñas del municipio vivieran momentos mágicos con la presencia de SSMM los Reyes Magos de Oriente y varias cabalgatas de animación infantil acordes con las fiestas navideñas.

Finalmente no debe olvidarse que con el objetivo de aportar brillo y colorido a las calles se han adornado con luces y figuras navideñas la Plaza de la Constitución, Calle Ancha, puerta del Ayuntamiento y la Fuente. Este alumbrado tan especial ha sido una invitación a los vecinos y visitantes para pasear por las calles del pueblo, con un disfrute añadido, en estas fechas acompañados de familiares y amigos.

All EU Residents Must Exchange their Licences for Spanish after 2 Years of Residency ?

ALL EU RESIDENTS MUST EXCHANGE THEIR LICENCES FOR SPANISH AFTER 2 YEARS OF RESIDENCY ?

We say that there is an obvious contradiction in the announcement emitted by Trafico. This is what the headlines of several online newspapers say who are quoting the title of a press release, published on theDGT/ Trafico website last December.

We´ve examined the content of the press release and cross-checked it with their sources, the relevant EU Directive and the Trafico Reglamento de Conductores, that ´happen´ to be the sources we consulted for our info document on Driving Licences in our Library as well, just to make sure we weren´t missing anything.

We were not. The first line of the DGT article, under the headline, is fact. Only indefinite EU licences need to be exchanged after 2 years of residency. That comes directly from the Spanish Reglamento.

The next paragraph, which is about the categories, is DGT´s own, and in our opinion, very confusing interpretation; a mix of the Reglamento and the European Directive.

The paragraph about the obligation to exchange driving licences which

have a maximum validity of 15 years and for the most common categories (Grupo 1) seems to be saying something different than the first line, but it does not, as in reality, EU licenses for those categories are either issued with 10 or 15 year validity or indefinite. In the UK you either have a photo licence that´s valid for 10 years, or a paper/photo licence of which the photo part needs to be renewed after 10 years, or a paper -only licence that is valid indefinitely / till you reach 70. You only need to exchange after 2 years of residency if you are in possession of the latter.

The same goes for the maximum validity of licences for the special categories (Grupo 2). These are either issued with validity of 5 years, or indefinite/till you reach 70 all through Europe, or something in between, e.g UK 10 years.

The interpretation of DGT/Trafico, at least, when we follow the wording of their press release, will possibly affect all those from the UK that obtained their licence before January 1st 1997, as they automatically had the category C/D (Grupo 2) added to their licence without a limitation to its validity period to 5 years once the photocard was introduced. According to DGT/Trafico, these licences should also be exchanged for Spanish after 2 years of residency.

It appears that Trafico is referring to the first part of art. 15.4 of the Reglamento, that does however not relate to the 2 year period that is mentioned in the second part of that article, that deals with the indefinite licences. And moreover, completely contradicts art. 15.1 on the reciprocal acknowledgement of licences issued throughout the EU that is confirmed by the European Directive as well. We are concerned about the legality of this interpretation by DGT/Trafico and for this reason; we will be consulting with Judge Agustín Azparren Lucas as soon as possible to ask for his professional opinion on this matter.

To be clear, this is not some new law that has just popped up, but a new interpretation by DGT/Trafico, triggered by the upcoming 19th of January, 2 years after the European Directive has come into force.

We are not advising that you should not change your licences for the Spanish permit, as the choice is ultimately yours.

Blast from the past – Ron Harris In these days when Health and Safety is the keyword in football and the thought of a tough tackling player being not only allowed, but positively encouraged, to make his mark on the game, it must seem peculiar to the modern younger fan watching old videos, how much players could physically dominate a game in years gone past. Most clubs had a player you just didn’t mess with – Peter Storey at Arsenal, Dave Mackay at Spurs, Tommy Smith at Liverpool and the two most infamous ones Norman “Bites yer Legs” Hunter at Leeds and Ron “Chopper” Harris at Chelsea. I’m sure a lot of real football fans would pay good money to see the likes of bambi footed prima donnas like Cristiano Ronaldo come up against Chopper in his prime. That would be fun.

Ron Harris was born in Hackney in November 1944 and is simply a living legend at the club. He joined Chelsea at the age of 16 and made his senior debut a year later just after his 17th birthday. For the next 18 years, he was a regular in the blues side and made 795 appearances for the club. A matter of a few months into his new career and Chelsea were relegated from footballs top division into the old 2nd Division in May 1962 and for Harris, this was the making of him. New manager Tommy Docherty looked to the clubs youth players to invoke some passion and determination into the club and along with fellow youngsters like Peter Bonetti and Peter Osgood, he helped Chelsea back into the 1st Division at the first time of asking. Harris set about making his reputation as a tough tackling and aggressive defender who never gave up. Woe betides any right winger who fancied making a mug of the young left back. He just wouldn’t let anyone past him without a fight and the nickname “Chopper” just seemed made for him. If the ball went past him, it was rare that a player went as well. He took on the reins of captaincy in 1966 aged just 22, when his good friend Terry Venables left Chelsea to join Spurs and was the youngest captain to lead his side in an FA Cup Final, when the blues lost to Spurs in 1967. Three years later and he was still in charge when Chelsea returned to the FA Cup Final stage, where they beat Leeds United after a replay. These games still spread fear into the heart of the average watcher, with the level of intensity and aggression displayed. The Leeds side of this time were notorious for their uncompromising style of play and along with Norman Hunter, they had fellow tough guys like Billy Bremner and Paul Madeley to contend with. Led by Harris, Chelsea more than matched their opponents and emerged victorious.

Qualification for Europe, assured Harris took his side onto the bigger stage and they won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1971 defeating Real Madrid in the Final.

Although Harris never won another major honour, he did remain at the club until the summer of 1980 and although he saw the captaincy pass to another youngster, a certain 18 year old Ray “Butch” Wilkins in 1975, he was a regular starter throughout his career. At the age of 35, he left Chelsea and joined Brentford as player coach and spent three years at Griffin Park. On leaving the Bees, he spent a short time as player manager of Aldershot.

As for the modern game I’ll leave Harris to reflect on today’s brand of players: "What do you think?" he growls.

"Looking at them boots they wear today and them gloves and all that, I think, 'Blimey football: it used to be a man's game, didn't it?' And don't get me started on tackling. I mean, this law about sending off someone if they show their studs in the tackle. Excuse me, if you slide in, how are you not going to show your studs? It's not physically possible."

This is a translation of The Olive Tree, a well-known Chinese song that was a hit record in 1979.

It was based on an English poem written by Taiwanese travel writer San Mao about a donkey she met in Spain. Despite the song’s popularity and San Mao’s fame in the Chinese speaking world I had not heard of either of them until a few months ago. So, who was San Mao and how did a poem about a Spanish donkey become a huge hit in China?

San Mao was the Chinese pen name of Chen Mao Ping, also known as Echo Chan in English.

She was born in Chongqing in South West China in 1943 but moved to Taiwan in 1948 with her family. After a failed relationship, San Mao enrolled at Madrid University in 1967. She met a Spanish boy called José Maria Quero y Ruiz to whom she gave the Chinese name He Xi (sounds a bit like José) but as José was eight years younger than her and still at school, San Mao did not let the relationship develop. After graduating from university, she moved to Germany and learnt the language well enough to qualify as a German teacher after only nine months.

On her return to Taiwan San Mao fell in love with a 45 year old German teacher but just before they were due to marry her fiancé died of a heart attack. In her grief San Mao returned to Spain and there by chance she met He Xi again. In the intervening period He Xi had not lost his infatuation for San Mao and in 1973 they married.

Because of San Mao’s ambition to be the first woman to cross the Sahara, HHee Xi took a job in the Spanish Sahara. San Mao’s books about her life in the Sahara helped to open the eyes of Chinese people to the outside world.

In 1979 He Xi, who was a professional diver, died in a diving accident. San Mao left Spain and went travelling in South America before returning to Taiwan in 1981. She continued to write and her book Red Dust was made into a film.

Chinese song writer, Li Hai-Tsian, had The Olive Tree translated into Mandarin and turned into a song for Chyi Yu. The translator, Mandarin folk singer T.C. Yang, left out the donkey because he did not think it would resonate with the Taiwanese audience. Yet he kept in the olive tree, an exotic tree that would not be familiar to Chinese listeners. The olive does grow in south west China, far away from the bulk of the Chinese population.

The wandering donkey is a metaphor for San Mao herself. For the donkey the olive tree represents a shady resting place, a home. To us in southern Spain olive trees are everywhere, but to the Chinese the olive tree of San Mao’s dreams represents a home the traveller longs for but can never find.

In January 1991, in a Taiwanese hospital, where she had been admitted because of a cancer scare that turned out to be negative, San Mao hung herself with a pair of silk stockings. The motive for her suicide is not known. Suggested reasons range from professional disappointment to grief for He Xi.

Puerta de Estepa (Estepa Door)

Peña de los Enamorados (Lovers’ Rock) In the beautiful landscape of the La Vega (fertile lowland) in Antequera, halfway between our town and the neighbouring village of Archidona, rises the Peña de los Enamorados (Lovers’ Rock). It has received this name because the singular profile of the rock remains a human face looking at the sky with the head on the earth, as if it was a lying man. The explanation for this peculiar silhouette outlining the town skyline comes from the homonym legend from which it takes the name. A young man apparently born in a Christian Kingdom was captured in the Granada lands and taken as a slave to the house of a rich Moorish family. There, he and the house owner’s daughter fell in love. As both of them knew that it was a very difficult relationship due to their different religions, they kept it secret.

However, one day they decided to run away.

Unluckily, the father of the young woman found out and went after them with his army.

After a long time running away, the lovers arrived to the Rock, where they decided to stop to have a rest or perhaps to seek refuge. Unfortunately, they were tracked down by the army. Amid all the confusion and in despair of not being able to achieve their escape, and above all, their love, they embraced each other and jumped from the summit of the Rock. This Rock’s natural landscape covers 117 hectares of a great ecological interest which are visited by many people.

Beside the bricks, the materials used to erect the Estepa Door are the red limestones from El Torcal and are used in the pedestals of the three large pillars, and the cream-colored limestone from the same natural landscape which is used in the heraldic emblem. Another significant element of the monument is the terracotta image of the Virgin of El Rosario, which is placed in the central niche facing the Alameda Street. This new image, replacing the old one by Andrés de Carvajal, was made by the Antequera sculptor Eloy García. At the back of the arch, in the central niche, there is a ceramic tile depicting Saint Eufemia which is based on an engraving of 1820 made in the workshops of “Antonio Gonzalez”, from Mairena del Alcor. The three large semicircular arches are the structural base of the monument.

The function of the central arch was to give way to the horses and carriages, while the pedestrians used the side ones. The idea of rebuilding the Estepa Arch or Door arose in 1998 on the occasion of the commemorative acts for the 250th anniversary of the awarding of the Royal Fair in August by the monarch Fernando VI. Thus, the town recovered a monument that was destroyed in 1931.

Antequera, The Town In the province of Málaga, the town of Antequera is located at the main crossroads of Andalucia.

That is why it is known as “the heart” of the autonomous region and the reason why it has been, and it still is, a must for all travellers. We can get to know its historical heritage through the magnificent Monument Complex which includes more than 50 civil & religious buildings dated between the Bronze Age and the 18th century.

However, the monuments are not the only reason to come to Antequera. We have splendid natural landscapes, as the fertile lowland (Vega) or El Torcal, an amazing karst scenery where you can move millions of years ago in Earth’s history.

The history and the land are the basis of the local gastronomy, with our famous porra antequerana (cold tomato cream), the inevitable mollete (Arab style bread) usually taken for breakfast and the unequally mantecado (sweet buns) angelorum and bienmesabe from the convents tables.

It is very difficult to describe in just a few lines the many centuries of history resulting in dolmens, collegiate churches, churches, convents, palaces, arches, doors,

AGROGANT-Spring Fair Antequera is one of the few towns which has two fairs in its festivities list. However, it does not attach more importance to one than to the other, as it tries to keep the peculiar character of each one of them. We should not forget that both fairs are considered as “Fairs of Andalusia Tourist Interest”. When we talk about the Fair in May, or Spring Fair, we are talking about AGROGANT; that is, the Farming & Livestock Fair of Antequera, which in addition has been declared “Provincial Fair of Tourist Interest”.

The Exposition of Farm Machinery, includes the Agro-Food Fair, Horse Championship, and activities to promote the tourism in the town. The Fair, which is held in May, was created in 1856 to increase the commercial trade and boost the industrial and farmer activity of the town. However, with the passage of time, it lost that character and started to be almost exclusively devoted to livestock and farm machinery, and to emphasize the recreational and entertainment aspects. It now also includes samples of agro-food products.

Pasos en el silencio (Silent Steps) Part 2 Mary shouted with all her strength, with all her fear ... But no one came to her aide. She screamed again, even louder ... But nobody could hear her screams. She reached for the handle, a little more ...

But the handle looked even farther. Everything seemed farther and farther away ... even her little hope of escape. She had to accept it, no one was there; she was alone with the killer of the novel, the same killer that was chasing the protagonist just when she had stopped reading minutes earlier. For a moment she felt alone, horribly alone before death. She desperately looked around. Nothing.

There was no more than the two of them. She looked inside her, looked for the much needed courage, if only to try to escape. Nothing. Inside her she had only fear, the same fear of death that the protagonist of that novel felt since the first page when he captured her since the first sentence....

But fear seemed to give her a truce. Maybe because it was too late to escape, too late for everything; perhaps because she was accepting her own death, knowing that her life no longer belonged to her. Everything depended on him. For a moment she seemed to recover all of her courage, but it was only a mirage, a desire, the last hope of clinging to life. She slowly raised her view, just a little, enough to look into the eyes of death. She looked a short distance, and knew she was not wrong. It was him, the same man in white and tousled hair, deep blue eyes and disturbing look; the same man that was sitting in the library minutes before ... the same serial murderer who persecuted the protagonist in the last sentence of the penultimate chapter of the novel she was reading, the last part of a trilogy of mystery, the last best- seller of her favorite writer.

Panic flooded her again; terror settled in her eyes forever. For a moment she was faced with this sinister figure, but it was only an instant. It happened suddenly. Mary saw the blue of his eyes disappear, and looked into an abyss of no return. It was always the same. All of his victims experienced the same feeling before their death; the feeling of seeing death through his eyes, to be staring at nothing. The brightness of the dark steel sliced through the darkness of his eyes that seemed in-penetrable, and Mary did the only thing that all his previous victims did: scream ... scream with all her remaining strength. Mary screamed in terror, panic ... But her voice seemed to sound just inside her head, as if she could not be heard. She returned to yell even louder, with all the force of terror to death ... But felt that no one could hear her, only she could hear her screams. Mary cried for the last time … and then it was over ... As she least expected, the only way it could finish.

She sat up suddenly, sweaty, scared and awake from her own desperate scream. She sat on the bed soaked with sweat, still panting, still prisoner of the terror. She turned on the light and looked around. Nothing. Only silence. Everything was as always, only her messy bed altered the order of the room. She saw the whole room with her eyes, once again, trying to confirm that it had only been a nightmare. Then, she sighed with relief. Everything was the same, only that dream that altered momentarily the balance of her little personal world. Everything was in order. The curtains were still, closet doors closed, her books neatly arranged on the shelf, the alarm clock with 6:30 start, the mobile off ...

And, the latest bestseller from her favorite writer, open on the nightstand. Yes, it had only been a nightmare, she said.

Only then, Mary was reassured.

She looked at the alarm clock. It was 5:40. Too early to rise; too late to go to sleep. At least close my eyes for a while, she thought otherwise, tomorrow my eyelids will sting like crushed needles. Mary glanced at the book cover, turned off the light and went back to get between the sheets. Tomorrow I will finish reading the novel she said, and closed her eyes, but did not expect to sleep. But her peace was short-lived, too ephemeral ... Why was the book open? She sat right up in the bed, turned on the light and took the book. How strange! She always closed it, gently stroking their covers, making sure that the bookmark was on the right page. She looked at the bottom of the page and reread that sentence: "And those steps followed in the silence of the night ..." She rubbed her eyes. I will finish the novel, right now, she decided. She laid-back on the pillow, turned to the next page and started to read the last chapter. Just read the first sentence, the nightmare started again. It cannot be, she thought. But when she listened, she knew she was right. She thought about running away ... But that broken heel discouraged her. No, no, no ..., she said, it cannot be true, it cannot be happening again. But those steps seemed sound in silence, getting closer. Tap, tap,TAP! ...

Pasos en el silencio.

2ª parte.

María gritó con todas sus fuerzas, con todo su miedo...pero nadie acudió en su ayuda. Volvió a gritar, aún más fuerte... pero nadie parecía oír sus gritos. Alargó la mano hacia el tirador, un poco más... pero el tirador parecía alejarse, todo parecía alejarse... incluso sus pocas esperanzas de poder escapar. Tenía que aceptarlo, no había nadie; solo estaban ella y el asesino de la novela, el mismo que perseguía a la protagonista justo donde había dejado de leer minutos antes. Por un instante se sintió sola, espantosamente sola frente a la muerte. Buscó desesperadamente a su alrededor. Nada. No había nadie más que ellos dos.

Miró en su interior, buscó el valor que tanto necesitaba, aunque solo fuera para intentar escapar. Nada. En su interior solo le quedaba el miedo, el mismo miedo a morir que sentía la protagonista de aquella novela que la tenía atrapada desde la primera página, desde la primera frase…

Pero el miedo parecía darle una tregua. Quizá porque ya era demasiado tarde para escapar, demasiado tarde para todo; quizá porque estaba asumiendo su propia muerte, porque sabía que su vida ya no le pertenecía. Ahora todo dependía de él. Por un instante pareció recuperar todo su valor, pero solo era un espejismo, un deseo, la última esperanza de aferrarse a la vida. Levantó la vista despacio, solo un poco, suficiente para mirar a los ojos de la muerte. Lo miró en la corta distancia, y supo que no estaba equivocada. Era él, el mismo hombre de pelo blanco y alborotado, ojos profundos y azules, y mirada inquietante; el mismo que estaba sentado en la biblioteca minutos antes... el mismo asesino en serie que perseguía a la protagonista en la última frase del penúltimo capítulo de la novela que estaba leyendo, la última parte de una trilogía de misterio, el último best-seller de su escritor favorito.

El pánico la invadió de nuevo; el terror se instaló en sus ojos para siempre. Por un instante se vio frente a aquella siniestra figura, pero solo fue un instante. Todo sucedió de repente. María vio desaparecer el azul de sus ojos, y se asomó a un abismo sin retorno. Siempre ocurría igual. Todas sus víctimas experimentaban la misma sensación antes de morir; la sensación ver la muerte a través de sus ojos, de estar mirando a la nada. El brillo del acero cortó la oscuridad que sus ojos eran incapaces de taladrar, y María hizo lo único que habían hecho todas su víctimas anteriores: gritar... gritar con todas sus fuerzas. María gritó aterrorizada, presa del pánico... pero su voz parecía sonar solo dentro de su cabeza, como si no pudiera hacerse oír. Volvió a gritar aún más fuerte, con toda la fuerza del terror a la muerte... pero sentía que nadie podía oírla, que solo ella oía sus gritos. María gritó por última vez... y entonces todo terminó como ella menos esperaba, de la única forma que podía terminar.

Se incorporó de repente, asustada, sudorosa, despertada por su propio grito. Se sentó en la cama empapada de sudor, todavía jadeante, aún presa del pánico. Encendió la luz y miró a su alrededor. Nada. Solo silencio. Todo estaba como siempre, solo su cama desordenada alteraba el orden inmaculado de su cuarto. Volvió a recorrer la habitación con los ojos, una vez más, intentando confirmar que solo había sido una pesadilla. Luego respiró aliviada. Todo seguía igual, solo aquel sueño había alterado momentáneamente el frágil equilibrio de su pequeño mundo. Recorrió de nuevo la habitación con la mirada. Todo estaba en orden. Las cortinas permanecían inmóviles, las puertas del armario cerradas, sus libros perfectamente ordenados en la estantería, el despertador con la alarma puesta en las 6:30, el móvil apagado... y el último best-seller de su escritor favorito, abierto sobre la mesita de noche. Sí, solo había sido una pesadilla, se dijo. Solo entonces, María se tranquilizó.

“No, no, no..., se dijo, no puede ser verdad, no me puede estar ocurriendo esto”

Cuentos

Miró el reloj despertador. Eran las 5:40. Demasiado temprano para levantarse; demasiado tarde para volver a conciliar el sueño. Al menos cerraré los ojos un rato, pensó, de lo contrario, mañana me dolerán como si tuviera agujas machacadas bajo los párpados. María echó un vistazo a la portada del libro, apagó la luz y volvió a meterse entre las sábanas. Mañana terminaré de leer la novela, se dijo, y cerró los ojos aunque ya no esperaba el sueño. Pero su tranquilidad resultó efímera, demasiado efímera... ¿Por qué estaba el libro abierto? Se incorporó de golpe en la cama, encendió la luz y cogió el libro. ¡Qué raro! Ella siempre lo cerraba, con delicadeza, acariciando sus cubiertas, asegurándose de que el marcapáginas quedaba en la página correcta. Miró al final de la página y volvió a leer aquella frase: “Y aquellos pasos la siguieron en el silencio de la noche...” Se frotó los ojos. Voy a terminar la novela, ahora mismo, decidió. Se recostó sobre la almohada, pasó a la página siguiente y empezó a leer el último capítulo. Apenas leyó la primera frase, su pesadilla comenzó de nuevo. No puede ser, pensó. Pero, cuando aguzó el oído, supo que no se equivocaba. Pensó en salir corriendo... pero aquel tacón roto la desalentó. No, no, no..., se dijo, no puede ser verdad, no me puede estar ocurriendo esto. Pero aquellos pasos parecían sonar en el silencio, cada vez más cerca. Tap, tap, tap...

Grapes are harvested manually and transported in boxes weighing less than 12 Kg. (26.45 Pounds). Firstly this is done so as to take maximum care of each cluster and secondly, because the use of mechanical means is impossible. Slopes up to 40% become almost cliffs instead of hillsides. Moclinejo is my stop off point, a small white village with quiet streets. There I find the Bodega A. Muñoz Cabrera, a winery that promotes in me lots of good feelings. A family owned company in which Juan Muñoz, manager and worker number one, takes care of each and every detail so the result for each wine is always excellent. Juan Muñoz is a self made winemaker, he learned the profession from the time he was born, nowadays being one of the best wine connoisseurs in the province of Málaga.

Only last year, the winery was awarded seven Premios Mezquita 2014 gold medals, one silver and one bronze, thus being the highest awarded winery in just one year. To recognise such greatly deserved success, Premios Mezquita has put music to one of Muñoz’s wines; the guitar player Compañía Vicente Amigó performing a melody downloadable directly from a QR on their RUJAQ ANDALUSÍ TRASAÑEJO bottle. This is a sweet gentle “tierno” wine, variety Muscat of Alexandria, 15% alcohol content and ageing in American oak casks for ten years. To achieve this wine, the clusters of grapes are selected right at the vine stock and only those complying with the most desirable characteristics are harvested.

Once harvested, the clusters of grapes are taken to the “paseros”. In contrast to the “paseras” used in the Denomination of Origen Montilla Moriles for their sweet wines, at Axarquía complete clusters of grapes are laid and covered. These are thoroughly sundried, deciding whether they have to go through half or complete sundrying, which depends on the final wine the grape is intended to produce.

Once sundried, the grapes are taken to the traditional presses of mats “capachas”. From there they go to the tanks for a very slow fermentation.

Before we go on talking about more wines, several factors have to be taken into consideration as this place happens to be a real paradise where the grapes are of the best quality. In addition to being steep, the soils are made from slate grounds. Rainfall is scarce in the Axarquía. The benefit of these slates is that humidity is very well preserved within and, together with its closeness to the sea and sunshine duration, it keeps the vines free of most pests.

Having said this, we go on to talk about some of their sweet wines.

Zumbral is a gentle “tierno” wine made of sundried, Muscat of Alexandria grapes, aged for twelve months in American oak casks and reaching 15% alcohol content. Deep amber in colour, highly aromatic - nuts, raisins and honey. Extremely balanced in the mouth as it is not too sweet, this wine has received awards more than thirteen times worldwide.

We continue with Señorío de Broches, a natural sweet wine Denomination of Origen Málaga. It is called natural sweet as the alcoholic fermentation is stopped, adding extra alcohol to reach 15% alcohol content.

As it is not aged in casks it is also known as pale Málaga wine because it contains no added sugar or grape syrup “arrope”, except for the sugar from the grapes themselves. It is a

pale yellow wine, highly aromatic with tropical fruit notes, with a wonderful balance between acidity and sweetness, persistent and intense in the mouth. It is recommended to drink with snacks, canapés, pâtés, etc., and with fruit or ice cream desserts. Service temperature is between 10ºC and 12ºC. They offer nine different wines including natural sweets, naturally sweets and gentle sweets.

Among their white wines is Lagar de Cabrera, a dry muscatel from Denomination of Origen Sierras de Málaga. It is a wine with no ageing in wood, yellow straw colour and very bright. In the nose; it presents an intense white fruit and flower aroma. In the mouth it has a powerful start and a very pleasant mineral aftertaste, reaching a distinctive saline note. It is ideal to drink as an aperitif wine, with mild fish or even shellfish.

The Bodega A. Muñoz Cabrera recommends four red wines, El Lagar de Cabrera, El Lagar de Cabrera Crianza, El Lagar del Zar and Finca la Indiana, all of them having been awarded prestigious prizes in the world of wine. In the wine of the month a red wine will be recommended.

Walking amongst these vineyards has convinced me once more of the fact that our land is rich in excellent wines, yet to be discovered. Here I invite you to, maybe, slowly forget about everything we have learned and to rediscover the culture of our land.

WINE OF THE MONTH : FINCA LA INDIANA Winery: A. Muñoz Cabrera Variety: Petit Verdot from Finca La Indiana in Ronda.

D. O. Sierras de Málaga Clusters of grapes at their optimum ripening point are harvested and carried to the winery where they are destemmed and pressed, obtaining a free-run must. This must is the proper one for controlled fermentation in their stainless steel tanks. This red wine is aged for twelve months in French and American oak casks. 14% alcohol content.

Cherry red colour wine, intense strawberry, currant and jam aroma, ageing brings in black liquorice notes. Pleasant start in the mouth, gentle, highly voluptuous. The variety Petit Verdot demonstrates a unique feature as it develops very nicely in the bottle. Decanting is recommended. You will be surprised by this wine Finca la Indiana due to its richness in nuances both in the nose as well as in the mouth.

Bodegas A. Muñoz Cabrera Por Carmen Aparicio, Catador Profesional por la ESH de Sevilla aparicio.carmen64@gmail.com En mi afán de recorrer las tierras andaluzas para descubrir vinos que despierten la pasión del más abstemio, me lleva a tierras de la Axarquía.

Donde los viñedos se convierten en auténticos trabajos de riesgo en su época de vendimia. La peculiaridad de estos viñedos es su situación geográfica privilegiada para la cepa y no tanto para el viticultor. La vendimia se realiza a mano y en cajas no superiores a 12 kg, en primer lugar para cuidar cada racimo y en segundo lugar porque los medios mecánicos son imposibles. Pendientes máximas de hasta un 40% convirtiéndose casi en cortados más que en laderas.

Moclinejo es mi lugar de parada, un pueblo pequeño, blanco y de calles tranquilas. Allí encuentro la Bodega de A. Muñoz Cabrera, una bodega que me da muchas alegrías. Empresa familiar, donde Juan Muñoz gerente y trabajador número uno cuida de cada detalle para que el resultado de cada vino sea siempre excelente.

Juan Muñoz es un bodeguero hecho así mismo, aprendió el oficio desde que nació y hoy es uno de los hombres más entendidos en vino de al menos la provincia de Málaga.

Antes de seguir hablando de más vinos, hay que tener en cuenta varios factores que hacen que este lugar se convierta en todo un paraíso para que las uvas sean de la mejor calidad. Sus terrenos además de escarpados, son suelos pizarrosos de lajas, la Axarquía es una zona donde casi apenas llueve, la ventaja de estas lajas de pizarra es que guardan muy bien la humedad y junto a su cercanía al mar y sus horas de sol hacen que las cepas estén libres de la mayoría de plagas.

Una vez hecho este apunte seguimos con su línea de vinos dulces, hablaremos de algunos de ellos. Zumbral es un vino tierno de uva asoleada, de moscatel de Alejandría con una crianza de 12 meses en bota de roble americano y alcanzando una graduación de 15%, es de color ámbar oscuro, muy aromático a frutos secos, pasas y miel. En boca es muy equilibrado ya que no resulta demasiado dulce, este vino es ganador de más de 13 premios a nivel mundial.

Seguimos con Señorío de Broches, un vino Dulce Natural de la D.O Málaga, se le llama dulce natural ya que se detiene la fermentación alcohólica añadiendo alcohol extra para alcanzar los 15% vol. No tiene crianza en bota y por ello se le denomina también como vino Málaga pálido al no llevar añadido extra de

azúcar o arrope, sino el propio de la uva. Es un vino amarillo pálido, muy aromático con notas de fruta tropical, con un equilibrio perfecto de acidez y dulzor, de largo recorrido e intensidad en boca. Se recomienda para tomar como vino en aperitivos, canapés, patés… y en postres con fruta o helados. Tomar a una temperatura de entre 10 y 12º. Cuentan con una variedad 9 vinos entre dulces naturales, naturalmente dulces y tiernos.

En su línea de vinos blancos cuenta con Lagar de Cabrera, un moscatel seco de la D.O Sierras de Málaga. Es un vino sin crianza en madera, de color amarillo pajizo y muy brillante.

En nariz tiene un intenso olor a fruta blanca y floral, en boca tiene una entrada muy potente y con un postgusto mineral muy agradable, llegando a tener una marcada nota salina. Es ideal para tomar como vino entrante a una comida o para pescados suaves e incluso marisco.

La Bodega A. Muñoz Cabrera cuenta con una línea de 4 tintos, El Lagar de Cabrera, El Lagar de Cabrera Crianza, El Lagar del Zar y Finca la Indiana, todos ellos con reconocidos premios en el mundo del vino. En el vino del mes recomendaremos un tinto.

Pasear por estos viñedos me ha hecho convencerme una vez más de que contamos con una tierra rica en vinos excelentes que aún están por descubrir. Desde aquí os invito a que poco a poco olvidemos quizás todo lo aprendido, para volver a aprender con cultura de nuestra tierra.

VINO DEL MES : FINCA LA INDIANA Bodega: A. Muñoz Cabrera Varietal: Petit Verdot que proviene de Finca La Indiana en Ronda.

D. O Sierras de Málaga La uva se lleva hasta la bodega en su punto óptimo de maduración, donde se despalilla y se prensa, obteniendo un mosto yema que será el adecuado para fermentar de forma controlada en sus depósitos de acero inoxidable. Este vino tinto tiene una crianza de 12 meses en barricas de roble francés y americano. 14% vol.

Un vino de un rojo picota, de aromas intensos en nariz a fresas, grosellas y confitura, la crianza le aporta una nota de regaliz negro. Es de entrada agradable, amable, muy carnoso. El varietal Petit Verdot tiene una peculiaridad y es que evoluciona muy bien en botella. Se recomienda decantarlo. Finca la Indiana es un vino que te sorprenderá, por su riqueza en matices tanto en nariz como en boca.

¿Como quitar El Dolor de Cabeza SIN pastillas?

Seguro que alguna vez en la vida has tenido algún Dolor de Cabeza, pues muchos de los dolores son tratables beneficiosamente con Técnicas fisioterapéuticas.

Hay diversidad de tipo de dolores de cabeza, depende de la evolución del paciente , antecedentes familiares, genéticos, localización y características del dolor.

Recipe

Squashy Black Bean Stew Fresh squash or canned pumpkin makes this a flavourful thick stew, with a Mexican flavour and a bit of spice.

1 tablespoon olive oil 1 onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 ½ teaspoon cumin ½ 15oz. can chopped tomatoes, ¾ cup pumpkin, canned, or butternut squash puree 1 cup green beans, chopped 2 ½ 15 oz.cans black beans, drained ½ fresh jalapeno, minced pith and seeds included 2 tablespoons coriander, minced 6 cups water 2 teaspoons sea salt 2 teaspoons granulated onion 1 teaspoon granulated garlic  Sautee onion in olive oil in a saucepan until golden brown. Add garlic, chilli powder and cumin. Sautee an additional minute.  Add tomatoes, black beans and green beans, water and seasonings. Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes on low, stirring occasionally.  Add pumpkin or squash and jalapenos. Simmer for another 15 minutes. Stir to make sure it doesn’t stick.

Remove from heat and stir in coriander and more salt if needed.

Serves: 6-8 Cooking time: 1 hour

What to Say (& Not Say) to Someone Who Lost a Pet As too many of us know, the death of a pet is devastating. Our pets are more than just animals; they are integral parts of our families, they are our confidants, our best friends, and our biggest fans. So when they pass, the feelings of grief we experience are very similar to the feelings we experience when we lose a person that was important to us–anger, denial, depression…they are all part of the healing process through which we eventually reach acceptance.

“...it’s difficult to know what to say when someone you know experiences the death of a pet” Pet loss is a delicate topic, and even if you’ve been through it yourself, it’s difficult to know what to say when someone you know experiences the death of a pet. Pet advice expert Steven May understands this, and in a recent essay titled What to Say, And What Not to Say, Following the Passing of a Pet, he offers some great insight on what to do.

“Throughout my long career working with both pets and [pet parents] I’ve assisted in more than 3,000 euthanasias and have been present in countess situations where a pet has passed due to natural or unnatural causes. And no matter how many times I go through the process it is never easy. The loss of a pet hurts.

They remind us of milestones in our lives and often represent the true meaning of “unconditional love”…So what do we say to a person who has lost a pet? And, just as importantly, what do we not say?”

Say This “Your pet was so lucky to have you.”

During times of grief many people look inward and ask themselves if there was anything else they could have done differently. Reminding someone of what a wonderful pet parent they were, and that their pet enjoyed the best life possible, can help to alleviate any guilt a pet [parent] may be feeling.

Don’t Say This “When are you getting another pet?”

This implies that a pet is like a piece of furniture– if it breaks or gets old you just throw it out and get a new one. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our pets provide the kind of emotional connection that, for some, can resonate deeper than what they feel with human beings. Pets demand that we be selfless and in return we are rewarded with unconditional love. That’s not something that can be erased immediately.

Say This “Do you remember when…?”

Sharing a personal, heartwarming or funny story about a pet with a grieving [caregiver] can help move the focus away from the loss to a remembrance of happier times. And it’s those happy times that will help many pet [parents] get through the tough times ahead.

Don’t Say This “What’s the big deal? You have other pets.”

As any pet [parent] will tell you, each pet is different and brings something unique to our lives.

Would you tell a parent that has lost a child, “Don’t worry about it. You have other kids?” Of course not. Be sensitive to the loss irrespective of how many pets a person might have.

Say This “Is there anything I can do?”

It might sound cliché but if it’s truthful, and you’re willing to help, just knowing there is someone there if needed can provide a great deal of comfort to a grieving pet parent.

But if you say it you need to mean it. If someone reaches out to you with a request after you’ve offered, and you’re not able or willing to help, you can damage a relationship forever.

Don’t Say This “Are you really going to have [him/her] cremated?”

Just like it is with the passing of people, everyone has their own particular desires for how to handle the services. In the case of pets, cremation allows us to “keep” our pet with us forever. By implying to someone that their choice of cremation is foolish speaks to a personality void of understanding the desire for some type of physical presence.

Say This “You did everything you could do.”

Many pet [parents] feel enormous guilt upon the passing of the pet.

Perhaps they feel if they’d taken their pet to the vet earlier the outcome may have been different.

Guilt is also often felt when it comes to end of life decisions, one of the hardest things a pet [parent] may have to go through. Letting the pet [parent] know they responded appropriately and with love can go a long way in helping to soothe a grieving [caregiver].

Don’t Say This “It’s just a dog (cat, rabbit, hamster, etc.)”

This will invariably come from the person who has never [had] a pet.

They can’t begin to understand the connection we feel with our pets and probably don’t view this statement as crass or insensitive.

But you have to wonder if they would say the same kind of thing if they were talking about a family member or friend passing.

Do This Sending a condolence card will be seen by most any grieving pet [parent] as a very thoughtful act.

This is not the time for an email which is impersonal. Include a brief, handwritten note and include a photo of the pet in happier times if you have one. Another kind gesture is to make donation to a pet charity in the name of the [pet parent]. If the dog or cat died from cancer a donation to the Animal Cancer Fund or [another] worthy organization can mean the world to a grieving pet parent.

The bond we have with our pets runs deep. And one of the hardest parts about [having] a pet is that we know the odds are that we’ll outlive them. But in the relatively brief time we have our beloved friends we know the joy they bring and we’re willing to deal with that reality. Death is a part of life and eventually we move on. But that doesn’t negate the finality that comes with death; particularly in the days after. Showing the same type of sensitivity to someone who has lost a pet as we would if it was a relative or friend who has passed not only helps to alleviate grieving it also reminds us of the fragility of life. And if that doesn’t make you want to hug your pet a little tighter I’m not sure what will.

Noticias Fuente de Piedra Durante estos días se están llevando a cabo diversas actividades en el municipio de Fuente Piedra como parte del programa de Navidad, elaborado y coordinado por la Concejala de Cultura y Fiestas, Susana García. Este año hay que destacar la gran afluencia y participación de vecinos y visitantes en todas las actuaciones organizadas por el Equipo de Gobierno.

Varias actividades del citado programa son de carácter deportivo y se están llevando a cabo en el Pabellón Municipal José Mª Cañero González, esta semana se ha desarrollando el Trofeo de Navidad de Tenis, en las categorías individual infantil y dobles senior, donde han participado varios vecinos del municipio.

El Alcalde, Paco Hidalgo, y el Concejal de Deportes, Manuel Carrión, acuden casi a diario al Pabellón para asistir a los encuentros deportivos que son numerosos y con mucho público asistente.

Aún queda pendiente la llegada de los Reyes Magos y el recorrido de las cabalgatas de los Reyes por las calles del pueblo el día 5 de Enero y la celebración del Día de la Bicicleta y el roscón de reyes gigante en la Calle de la Iglesia el día 6 como colofón fin de fiestas.

El Alcalde de Fuente Piedra, Paco Hidalgo, hace entrega de ropa, calzado y equipamiento de trabajo a la Policía Local y a la Agrupación Local de Protección Civil.

Con el objeto de que puedan llevar a cabo, mejor aún si cabe, su trabajo y velar por la seguridad y el bienestar de los vecinos y vecinas del municipio el Equipo de Gobierno decidió incluir en el Programa de Asistencias y Cooperación 2014 una partida para la compra de ropa, calzado y equipamiento de trabajo para la Policía Local y para la Agrupación Local de Protección Civil.
