Boys’ Preparatory School Co-Curricular Booklet 2021-2022 1

LETTER FROM THE HEAD 2

Letter from Mrs Chong, Head of the Boys’ Preparatory School Our co-curricular programme here at Surbiton High Boys’ Preparatory School is unrivalled. Our tailored provision commitment ensures that all boys have the opportunity to further their interests outside of the school day and enrich their learning and sense of enjoyment. There are all sorts of opportunities on offer through the co-curricular provision and we encourage all pupils to try something new or hone their skills in their chosen pastime, whether that be robotics, horse riding, skiing or baking. There are so many options to choose from; just take a look inside.

Mrs Chong

CONTENTS This booklet is created for the 2021-2022 academic year, expecting a full timetable to run. Whilst it has to be paired back owing to the restrictions of COVID-19, this provides a full breadth of the offering available during a normal school year.

KS2 Art CLUB Each Art session is based on a famous artist or art form. We learn a few facts about the artist’s technique and life, and then the pupils create their own interpretation of what we have looked at. This includes sculpture, painting, drawing 2D and 3D. Art Club can be enjoyed by all, either as a time to have fun (as there is no right or wrong way to paint), or as a place to help your child work on his skills.

Years 3-4, Tuesday

Swimming Club We have a Swimming Club at The Hurst Pool running from January. These swimming sessions focus on coaching technique. We participate in swimming galas against other schools and have swimmers who compete in local and annual borough events. Our aim is to keep pupils involved in swimming to help improve every stroke and also to develop the enjoyment of a life skill.
