olar, tener la infinita sensación de libertad y mirar el mundo desde lo alto mientras estás suspendido en el aire: ésta no es la descripción de una escena de película; el sueño de volar es probablemente tan antiguo como la humanidad. En nuestros días, éste sueño es posible, al menos durante unos segundos, gracias al deporte conocido como skydive o paracaidismo deportivo. Ven, te invitamos a descubrir porqué esta actividad provoca una gran fascinación en todo el mundo y hay quienes dicen que también resulta adictiva. Riviera Maya un lugar único para el paracaidismo deportivo La Riviera Maya no sólo es un destino paradisíaco para vacacionar, también es el escenario perfecto para realizar un vuelo exitoso, pues al estar saltando al lado de la costa, no existen tantos obstáculos como montañas, árboles o edificios y se logra una caída muy suave sobre la arena. Aunque existe un riesgo bajo de caer en el mar, los instructores deben ser lo suficientemente profesionales para controlar exactamente el punto seguro en el que van a caer. El Skydive es un deporte fuera de serie; si ya tienes planeado aventarte un “clavado al cielo”, sólo asegúrate de acercarte a una empresa seria, que cuente con un equipo de profesionales los cuales te hagan vivir una experiencia única la cual te aseguramos cambiará tu visión del mundo. Although there is a low risk of landing on the ocean, the instructor should be professional enough to have total control over the landing spot. Skydiving is a unique sport; if you plan to “dive from the sky”, just make sure you pick a serious company to do so, with professionals to help you have a one of a kind experience, which we can assure you, will change your vision. We invite you to practice this activity, for which you do not need wings; you just have to be willing to let yourself float in the air.

Aquí te damos una pequeña guía de los pasos previos a flotar por los aires: 1.- Lo principal es un entrenamiento de no más de 20 minutos, proporcionado por instructores certificados. Después viene el ascenso con una duración de 25 minutos aproximadamente. 2.- Lo más recomendable para iniciarse en el paracaidismo deportivo, es practicar el salto TANDEM, el cual es el programa más popular en éste deporte. Después viene el vuelo con paracaídas unido cuerpo a cuerpo con el instructor y que tarda de 5 a 7 minutos. Todo este proceso tiene una duración aproximada de una hora y media.

Otra importantísima medida de seguridad es que los saltos se hacen con dos paracaídas: el principal y el de reserva, los cuales tienen el mismo nivel de control. Si el paracaidista por cualquier razón se desmaya, se queda inconsciente o tuvo una emergencia y no supo reaccionar correctamente, actualmente ya existe un sistema llamado “apertura automática”, el cual consiste en pequeñas computadoras colocadas al interior de los equipos y están calibradas para que a cierta altura y velocidad, el paracaídas

Parachutes are usually rectangular, 100% manageable with a total degree of precision, such that in the words of Michel Alvarez: “The control that a pilot has over this parachutes gives him the safety of jumping 5km above land and landing on a 5 pesos coin” Another very important safety measure is that when you jump you do so with two parachutes: the principal one and a reserve. Both have the same amount of control. If the jumper, for any reason faints, is unconscious or had an emergency and did not know how to react properly, there is now a system called “automatic opening.” Which consists of small computers placed inside the equipment, that are calibrated so that at certain height and speed, the parachute will open automatically, therefore there is no possibility of the pilot landing with a closed parachute.

In the XV century the genius of all times, Leonardo da Vinci, who studied birds flight, jumped to conclusions that even today are basics in aeronautic science. The parachute he designed was in a pyramid shape, as one can appreciate on his drawings. Many consider Leonardo da Vinci as the “The Skydive Father”

Al pasar los años, antes de la Primera Guerra Mundial y hasta mediados de la década de los años 20, los estadounidenses ostentaron el título de ser los pioneros más activos del paracaidismo. En 1950 la disciplina empieza a ganar popularidad, cuando algunos franceses comenzaron a saltar por entretenimiento, experimentando caídas libres y diseñando nuevos paracaídas, más fáciles de conducir.

Years went by, before World War I and in the mid 20’s; Americans had the title of being the most active pioneers of skydiving. In 1950, this discipline starts gaining popularity, when a few French began jumping as entertainment, experimenting freefalls, and designing new parachu-tes, easier to drive.

Me gustaría tener una grabadora para capturar las reacciones de la gente cuando baja del avión, pues siempre son po-sitivas y siempre expresan

Durante los años anteriores al comienzo del desarrollo en Mayakobá, OHL, compañía propietaria del proyecto, invirtió millones de dólares para estudiar el medio ambiente local y crear métodos para preservar y realzar el paisaje circundante. Among the special initiatives undertaken at El Camaleón is the implementation of a sophisticated, self-contained water system. None of the water used in El Camaleón leaves the course. It is recollected, treated and pumped back into the courses irrigation lake.

Before any development began at Mayakobá, project developers OHL spent 6 years and millions of dollars studying the local environment and putting together plans to not only preserve, butalso enhance the surrounding landscape. Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, that manages the golf course and has already won awards for its stewardship of such golfing icons as Banff Springs and Jasper Park Lodge, is also committed to the highest levels of environmental sustainability.

As a demonstration of that commitment, El Camaleón has already become one of the few courses in all Mexico to enroll in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program for Golf. One of the world’s leading environmental certification agencies, Audubon’s stringent program includes environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, water conservation, chemical use reduction, as well as safety and water quality management.

The environmental integrity of the course was also a priority of El Camaleon´s designer Greg Norman. “We begin each new golf course design with leastdisturbance approach”, says Norman. “Our design team dedicates time and effort to finding the most desirable natural features of a site and incorporates then into the routing”, he says adding, “In addition to being fully conscious of environmentally sensitive areas that include wetlands or ecosystems with endangered native plant or animal life, we also spend considerable time in the design process identifying ways to utilize the greatest number of existing trees on a site, rather than eliminate them”. “When we open a golf course, it’s my hope that people will look at it and say that it appears to have been part of the landscape for many years. With every project we do, I like to think that we leave a property in better environmental condition than we found it”.

This award was created to reduce the impact of food-related diseases among Mexican and foreign tourists in order to improve the image of México worldwide, as far as food safety is concerned. “Distintivo H” is awarded to hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, canteens and eateries, who voluntarily ask to have their businesses checked for standards of quality and conditions of safety to meet the food handling requirements of Mexican and foreign consumers. The benefits of the implementation of the “Distintivo H” program are a strict control of food handling and hygiene through microbiological tests and medical check-ups of the restaurants staff. The handling and hygiene of food is supervised from the moment of reception and preparation to the consumer’s plate.
