EDITORIAL Dear friends of the Institut français du Nigéria, Back to work now at the Institut français! This quarter, the cultural programme will focus on our 3 priority cultural sectors: animated movie, visual arts and contemporary dance. It will feature a workshop on animated film followed by the third edition of the Franco-Japanese animated film festival as well as an open call for curatorial practice workshop in Lagos. Finally, for the great satisfaction of dance lovers, we will host Rachid Ouramdane, one of the most talented choreographers of its generation. We hope to see you all again at the Institut français du Nigéria or at one of our ‘outdoor’ events! Arnaud Dornon, Director
Cher(e) ami(e) de l’Institut français du Nigéria, C’est la rentrée! Ce trimestre, nous vous proposons plusieurs temps forts culturels autour de nos 3 domaines d’intervention culturels prioritaires : le cinéma d’animation, les arts visuels et la danse contemporaine. Nous débutons avec un workshop sur le cinéma d’animation suivi par la troisième édition de la Fête du cinéma d’animation franco-japonais, ainsi qu’un workshop sur les pratiques curatoriales à Lagos. Enfin, pour le plus grand bonheur des amateurs de danse contemporaine, nous accueillerons Rachid Ouramdane, l'un des chorégraphes les plus talentueux de sa génération. CINEMA 24/09 - 05/10 – ANIMATED FILM WORKSHOP 24/09 - 05/10 – ATELIER SUR LE FILM D’ANIMATION The Goethe Institut and the Institut français du Nigeria as part of the Franco-German Cultural Fund organise ten-day film animated workshop. Samuel Weikopf, a German animation film professional in Abuja, and Sabine Hitier, a French animation film professional in Lagos, will work with participants to improve their skills in film animation, storyboarding and visual effects. The focus is to give ©Sabine Hitier participants an opportunity to increase their technical skills and interact with experienced professionals from Germany and France towards developing their career prospects in Nigeria’s vibrant film industry. Dans le cadre du Fonds franco-allemand, le Goethe Institut et l'Institut français du Nigéria, organisent deux ateliers d'animation cinématographique de dix jours. Samuel Weikopf, un professionnel allemand du cinéma d'animation à Abuja, et Sabine Hitier, une professionnelle française du cinéma d’animation à Lagos, travailleront avec des participants pour améliorer leurs compétences en animation cinématographique, en story-board et en effets visuels. Ces ateliers donneront aux participants l'occasion d'accroître leurs compétences techniques et d'interagir avec des professionnels expérimentés d'Allemagne et de France afin de développer leurs perspectives de carrière dans l'industrie cinématographique animée du Nigeria. 05/10 – NETWORKING SESSION WITH FILM ANIMATION PROFESSIONALS 05/10 – MISE EN RÉSEAU AVEC DES PROFESSIONNELS DE L'ANIMATION To conclude this ten days of animated film workshop, the participants will showcase their experience of the workshop. Everybody are more than welcome to meet the participants and the facilitator. It will be a networking session around drinks and snacks. Here will have some talk, animated film screening followed by a cocktail. Pour conclure ces 10 jours d’atelier de cinéma d’animation, les participants présenteront leurs expériences de l'atelier. Cet évènement est ouvert à tous afin de rencontrer les participants et le formateur. Des présentations et des projections de films d’animation sont prévues autour d’un verre. 06 - 07/10 – ANIMATION FILM SYMPOSIUM 06 - 07/10 – COLLOQUE SUR LE FILM D’ANIMATION This symposium is intended to be a platform for discussions on the field of animated films. © Oktapodi, 2007 – J. Marchand That will be an opportunity for all to meet and interact with professionals of this broad sector and for discussion to potential collaboration between professionals. Nigerian, German and French animated films will be shown. This event is open to all professionals. Ce colloque est une plate-forme pour favoriser des discussions autour de la thématique des films d’animation. De plus, il sera une occasion pour tous de rencontrer et d'interagir avec des professionnels de ce large secteur ainsi qu’initier d’éventuels domaines de collaboration entre professionnels. Des films d'animation nigérians, allemands et français seront diffusés. Cet événement est ouvert à tous les professionnels. One key component of the Institut français du Nigeria cultural strategy is towards animated cinema. For the third consecutive year, the Institut français du Nigeria and the Japanese Embassy has joined together for the 2017 edition of the French and Japanese animated film festival. Japanese, French and Nigerian movies will be screened. This event takes place in a frame of the ‘Fête du cinema d’animation” Un des axes de la stratégie culturelle de l'Institut français du Nigeria est en direction de l’industrie du film d’animation. C’est pourquoi, pour la troisième année consécutive, l'Institut français du Nigeria et l'Ambassade du Japon se réunissent pour créer l'édition 2017 du festival du film d'animation franco-japonais. Des films japonais, français et nigérians seront projetés. Cet événement s’inscrit dans le cadre de la fête du cinéma d’animation ayant lieu dans le monde entier. PERFORMING ARTS 27/10 – QUATOR A’DAM: AN “A CAPELLA” QUARTET’S PERFORMANCE 27/10 – QUATOR A’DAM, UNE PERFORMANCE A CAPELLA

The four singers of the Quatuor A'dam, an “A capella” vocal ensemble, are full of humour and eclecticism. Their songs' repertoire goes from African-American music to many other styles: renaissance songs, German romantic music, 60s tubes and French songs. At the end of the show, you will take the opportunity to meet the artists during a cocktail. Les quatre chanteurs du QUATUOR A'DAM sont un ensemble vocal « A capella », plein d'humour et d'éclectisme. Leur répertoire est composé de musique afro-américaine et de différents autres styles: chansons de la renaissance, musique romantique allemande, tubes des années 60 et chanson française. À la fin du spectacle, vous pouvez profiter de l'occasion pour rencontrer les artistes lors d'un cocktail. 07/12 – TORDRE by Rachid Ouramdane – CONTEMPORARY DANCE PERFORMANCE 07/12 – TORDRE de Rachid Ouramdane – SPECTACLE DE DANSE CONTEMPORAINE Rachid Ouramdane is one of the most talented contemporary dance choreographs. In November 2014, he created TORDRE one of the most beautiful pieces he has written. On stage, Annie Hanauer and Lora Juodkaite, two exceptional dancers, reveals their singularity through each gesture. Rachid Ouramdane est l'un des chorégraphes de danse contemporaine les plus talentueux. En novembre 2014, il a créé 'TORDRE', l'une des plus belles pièces qu'il a écrites. Sur la scène, Annie Hanauer et Lora Juodkaite, deux danseuses d’exception, dévoilent à travers chaque geste leur singularité. © Patrick Imbert
