Editorial Dear friends, L’Institut français du Nigeria, through its courses and its artistic programme, is a place open to dialogue, cultural and linguistic exchanges. Debate will be highlighted in our cultural programme. In May, a round table on sustainable architecture will be organized as part of the second edition of the “One Environment festival”, followed in June by a lecture by Bertrand Badie, one of the most renowned French specialists in international relations. June will be the month of cinema. We will have the pleasure to welcome the director Alain Gomis who will be touring in Nigeria to present his last awarded film “Félicité”. Without forgetting the world music day! You want your kids to get a real French immersion? You can now register for the Summer Camp program in July and August: a great way to learn French and have fun. Last, but not least, in the wake of the success of the first edition, the France Alumni program is back for an even more ambitious 2nd edition. So many occasions to welcome you and speak French! Arnaud Dornon, Director

Arnaud Dornon, Directeur

“OTHERNESS AND HUMILIATION IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS”, A LECTURE BY BERTRAND BADIE « ALTÉRITÉ ET HUMILIATION DANS LES RELATIONS INTERNATIONALES », UNE CONFÉRENCE DE BERTRAND BADIE

Wednesday May 31st - 10 am prompt - Transcorp Hilton Abuja - Admission Free

June 21th – Venue and time to be confirmed

Debate organized by the Institut français du Nigéria and Green Habitat Initiative in the frame of “One environment Festival”

Bertrand Badie, a sociologist in international relations and social psychology, reveals the importance of the passion in the diplomatic game. His analysis focuses on humiliation, as a practice of the power and feeling felt by the weak. This lecture is proposed in the context of his book “The Time of The Humiliated” (2014).

This panel’s discussion is organized to increase the awareness towards sustainable architecture. Design and build green is the way to go in the 21st century. Featured panelists from France and Nigeria will bring to the fore what needs to be done in ensuring a greener building and construction industry. This panel’s discussion will gather representatives from different fields (civil society, researcher, etc.).

Bertrand BADIE is a French political scientist and international relations specialist, emeritus professor at Sciences Po Paris. He is one of the most renowned French specialists in international relations. Particularly, he wrote “The Sociology of the State” (1979), “The Imported State” (1992) and “Diplomacy of Connivance” (2011).
