CAPTAIN VAN BUREN´S CURSE

One stormy night, Captain Van Buren
was determined to make a covenant with the
God of the seas called Poseidon. At that time,
the only thing this captain cared about was to
have the fastest ship of all, so that he could reach port in a matter of hours. There was a night in which the captain was in his room, drinking and smoking his pipe like every night, when suddenly huge waves threatened to destroy the boat. Without any choice, the captain went to the bow of the
ship and knelt before the God of the sea, Poseidon. He himself listened to Van Buren's prayers and offered him to sail safely and be the fastest of all. In return, the captain will
have to give the life of his crew. Without hesitation, he accepted the deal and began sailing without inconvenience and regardless of the lives of his crew members, who had helped this captain so much. The following night, Van Buren began to
hear his inner voice that said he had been very
selfish. At that precise moment, he felt the punishment of the God of the seas, who con-
demned him to sail the oceans for all eternity, without being able to reach the harbour again.
EXCALIBUR THE LEGEND

According to the legend, we wanted to tell you about the story about a sword named
Excalibur. The sword had extraordinary powers, but it only responded to its owner and was embedded in a stone. King Uther of England was assassina-
ted by his envious brother Vortingern, who took the power of the kingdom. Arthur, the son of King Uther, was kidnapped as a baby and sent to the most dangerous area of the city.
Only the prince could remove Excalibur from that rock, which was discovered when
the water of the Camelot canal retracted. A lot of warriors and brave men tried to take possession of it because whoever owned it
could become the new king.
Prince Arthur grew up with Spartan education, away from the comfort and the
richness of his castle, with his new family.
Although the prince was Excalibur’s owner,
he couldn't dominate his power; he was not prepared for it. His immature mindset made the sword reject him. After a long time, Arthur understood his
fate and he joined a group of rebels who wanted
to help him.These rebels didn't want King Uther. Arthur could banish his despot uncle and won different battles against the dark royal army. He wanted his people to be free. Finally, Arthur, with the power of the
sword, was able to defeat his miserable uncle. Once Arthur was proclaimed as the true King
of Camelot, in gratitude, he declared them knights of the round table, without differences, or hierarchies, to help him reign under the
principles of freedom, equality and equity.
EL NAHUELITO - BARILOCHE

The legend of Nahuelito or "El Cuero"
begins in 1897 in the region of Nahuel Huapi in Rio Negro, Argentina, when the Dr. Cle-
mente Onelli starts to receive news about a strange creature who had been seen in the patagonian lakes.
Among the people of the region it is common to hear about this creature. They say
that the monster only goes out at night. He is bigger than a cow and his footprints are like those of a giant duck.
The first sighting is from 1910. George Garret worked in a company near Nahuel Huapi. One day, he was swimming in the lake when at
400mt he saw a creature, whose visible part was between 5 and 7 metres long.
When he told the story to the native people, he learnt about similar stories from the local people. Later in 1922, the sighting was public
when the Toronto Globe diary told the story of a
giant creature in Bariloche. The press around the world was eager to find him, so the first expedition was organized, but it had negative results. Most recently in 1960, the Argentinian
Army followed a strange submarine object for 18
days, without getting info about it. Finally, in 1988, we got the first photo of Nahuelito. It was taken with an analog camera, near the coast of Bariloche. The unknown man who took the photo said: "It is not a log of capricious shapes. It is not a wave. Nahuelito showed his face". Many theories were created around this creature: Some people say he is a prehistoric animal, a survivor of the dinosaurs era, probably a plesiosaurus. Others say that the monster seems
to be a strange mutation of some local animal produced by the nuclear experiments that have been carried out uninterruptedly for 60 years.
More sceptical people say that it is only a little submarine. Anyway, no theory was proven yet.
IGUAZU FALLS LEGEND

Many years ago, in the Iguazu river,
Misiones, the guaranies, native people from Argentina, had a ritual. This ritual was about a big snake that lived in the river. Its name was Boi.
Once a year, the Indian community offe-
red a sacrifice for the snake. They threw a
woman to the river to feed him. In this ritual all the local tribes got together. Taroba, the Chief of one tribe, was a strong, brave, and noble man. One day he saw the young girl who was
going to be sacrificed that year and he immedia-
tely fell in love. So Taroba tried to do everything possible to change people's minds. He said that she wasn´t the right one for the sacrifice but the Indian tribe told him that the decision was taken, so the special woman would die. Taroba´s heart was broken.
The name of this pretty woman was
Naipi. She was sweet and with long and shiny hair. She was also in love with Taroba so, after thinking about it a lot, they decided to escape. The night before the ritual, they took a
canoe and started to navigate on the Iguazu
river. They were living the most important moment of their lives, so they swore eternal love below the moon. But they didn’t imagine what was going to happen.
Boi, the big snake, was very angry and
it couldn´t accept this. So, it caught them,
turning Taoba into a big tree and below of this tree, if you pay attention to the waterfalls, you could see Naipi´s hair. Boi swam across ‘La garganta del Diablo’ swearing that this couple never would never be together again and then it disappeared forever.
