Local TDs Elected To The 31st Dail.

Mayor Welcomes Return of St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in Tallaght. Mayor Eamonn Maloney recently elected TD has welcomed confirmation by the Council’s Community Department that St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated in Tallaght after many years without such an event. Thanking the Council Staff, Tallaght Community Arts, and the local Marching Bands for making the event possible the Mayor stated.

“It has been a source of embarrassment that the National Holiday has not in recent years been celebrated in Ireland’s third largest centre of population, which Tallaght is”. This will be an event that the local community can be proud of, a day in Tallaght of Music, Colour, Cultural and Art. For more details on the celebrations see the article to the right... .....................................................

Amazon In Tallaght Mayor Eamonn Maloney welcomes the news that the American company Amazon has purchased the old Tesco storage site on the Greenhills Rd. The 13 acre site is to house a data storage facility for Amazon and will provide high quality jobs for the Tallaght area. This will provide a much needed jobs boost for the area. Mayor Maloney, however, renews his call for a local IDA presence to be re-introduced in the South Dublin area. Tallaght and its surrounding areas have experienced an increase in unemployment only matched by cities like Limerick and Waterford. A co-ordinated and concerted effort is required to tackle the jobs issue in the Tallaght area.

A celebration of St. Patrick's Day is to take place at Tallaght Stadium on 17th March 2011. The celebration is being organised by South Dublin County Councils Community Services Department in conjunction with Tallaght Community Arts. There has been no formal St. Patrick’s Day event in Tallaght for many years and the Council, along with the people of Tallaght are hoping for a fun filled community based celebration at Tallaght Stadium. The idea is to involve as many members of the local community as possible in a participatory role; and at the same time to provide entertainment for those attending the event as spectators. The event with run from 4pm to 7.30pm. Anyone who wishes to attend the celebrations will be able to do so free of charge. The Council hope to provide an opportunity for the people of South Dublin to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day in the comfort of the Stadium, a safe and secure environment protected (to a certain degree) from the elements. ....................................................... .

Tucked around a corner, beside the old cinema on Level 3, in The Square Shopping Centre, you’ll find the TechPros shop. The small premises belies a very useful service. No matter what your computer problem, Rathnam and his colleagues are here to help. They offer laptop and computer repairs from €49, as well as phone and console repairs, all with as quick as possible a turnaround time. TechPros are open 7 days a week, until 6 from Saturday to Tuesday and until 9 from Wednesday to Friday. They can also be reached by phone on 01 4433 230 for quick queries and preliminary quotes. In the shop itself, there is a small counter, presided over by their friendly and helpful staff and a bank of 4 internet PCs on the opposite wall. The PC’s are coin operated and should you wish to print anything, your print-out emerges from the printer behind the counter. It seems a popular spot for the printing of boarding passes from the likes of Ryanair and other airlines that offer online check-in. Repairs are done on-site when possible and they claim to remove computer viruses without reinstalling your operating system and risking data loss, with a same day virus and malware removal service. They can fix most software faults; from viruses,

10

bluescreen errors, internet problems and even data recovery/transfer. They also offer hardware services such as laptop screen, dc jack and keyboard replacements. Unusually for such a small operation, they do motherboard repairs. This is something you would expect to have to send back to the manufacturer to get repaired or bring it all the way into the city centre to find a shop providing this service. If your computer is running slowly, they can reinstall your operating system or even upgrade the hardware; maybe a bigger hard drive, without losing any of your data, or more RAM to make it respond quicker.

TechPros are a one stop shop who are happy to help, no matter what your technical issue. .......................................................

Nine years ago, in 2002, Kylie Minogue embarked upon her KylieFever world tour– it was her 5th world tour and her biggest to date – breaking box office records everywhere and setting a new standard for pop concerts throughout the world. The NME said "One day all concerts will be like this: phenomenally staged, flawlessly performed"! KylieFever was followed by Showgirl in 2005, Homecoming in 2006/7 and most recently by KylieX2008. Unbelievably each tour has been bigger and more spectacular than the preceding! Now, in 2011, she's on the road again with a brand new world tour. Aphrodite-Les Folies Tour 2011 promises to break all previous records – the show is grander than anything you've seen to date! This incredible show was created by Kylie and William Baker, her long-time creative collaborator. Rehearsals started in locations throughout the world before Christmas – Kylie is currently rehearsing with her new band in London; the dancers and aerialists are being put through their paces by not one but three top choreographers in Los Angeles; the tech crew are putting together the props and staging on the East coast in Pennsylvania and Montreal whilst the video team are furiously at work back in the UK. Phew! The bespoke stage for the European leg of the tour (including Ireland) is the most technically advanced, complex and precision stage ever created for an arena. It features over a million moving parts, including 30 high impact water jets, rain curtains and fountains! The stage, alone costing over $10million, was built by Tait Towers, the largest staging company in the world, responsible for building stages for the Rolling Stones, U2, Madonna, The Wall etc. etc. The water elements featured in the show have been designed by the same team who engineered the famous water fountain show at Bellagio in Las Vegas, and the spectacular "World of Colour" show at Disneyland in 14

California. Aphrodite-Les Folies will feature a totally unique "SPLASH ZONE" within the stage itself, where fans can be in the centre of the action in an amazing 4D experience. The entire production is valued at over $25 million, and will see Kylie joined on stage by a huge cast of dancers and aerial performers along with her live band. The show will be moved throughout Europe by a crew of over 100 personnel in a fleet of 25 trucks! Kylie said "Rehearsals are well underway and the show is shaping up to be more than I could have wished for. All departments are doing a stellar job and the combined level of expertise is nothing short of mind blowing. My friends, Dolce & Gabbana have designed an amazing wardrobe for me. I'm overwhelmed with the love and talent that is going into this tour and I can't wait for my fans to be part of it"

The American veterans of the rock music scene, R.E.M have finished recording their new album, set for release on March 8th 2011, announced on the band’s website, will offer fans a different sound to that of their last record, Accelerate. Whereas Accelerate was very much a record of short, fast, heavy tracks, the new release is more varied. R.E.M guitarist Mike Mills has said of the record, in an interview with Spin, "we wanted this new one to be

more expansive. There are some really slow, beautiful songs; there are some nice, mid-tempo ones; and then there are three or four rockers". Accelerate was very much seen as a roaring return to form for Michael Stipe and co. It debuted on the American billboard at number 2 and high sales figures in the UK and Ireland, amongst other countries saw the album leap to number one in album charts. With Collapse Into Now, R.E.M will certainly want to continue where they left off.

A visibly nervous and very pregnant Natalie Portman was near tears after winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Oscars Sunday night (February 27) for her performance as a ballerina on the verge of a mental breakdown in Darren Aronofsky's "Black Swan." "Thank you. Thank you so much. This is insane!" the 29-year-old first-time Oscar winner enthused after taking the stage. "I truly and sincerely wish that the prize tonight was to get to work with my fellow nominees." Although just the second-youngest of her co-nominees, Portman was previously nominated as Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Closer" and has been working with some of the best directors in the business since childhood — and in a rambling speech she nearly managed to thank all of them. "Luc Besson, who gave me my first job [in 'The Professional']," Portman began. "['Closer' director] Mike

20

Nichols, who has been my hero. And to everyone who's ever hired me!" "Darren Aronofsky, you are a visionary," she added of her "Black Swan" director. "I am so blessed to have gotten to work for you." Portman saved her most effusive gratitude, however, for her parents, who were in the audience, and especially for her fiancĂŠ Benjamin Millepied, with whom she is having a child. "I want to thank my parents for giving me the opportunity to work from such an early age. My beautiful love, Benjamin, who has now given me my most important role of my life," she gushed. "Most importantly, my family, my friends, and my love, thank you so much."

For the skin, use MAC's Strobe Cream under your foundation to create this sheeny look. For the eyes use Rimmel's Black Eye Kohl all round both upper and lower lash lines. Then apply a dark grey or even purple eye shadow all over the eyelid blending into the crease line. Use a highlighting eyeshadow on the inside edge of the eyes to brighten. To finish, add several coats of black mascara. On a darker skin such as Leona's, Armani's No. 2 Bronzer works well on the cheeks as a natural coloured blush. To create Leona's lip colour use the NARS lipstick in Funny Face with their lipglossEasy Lover over the top.

The 9-5 is Saab’s alternative to the German brands. Buyers who don’t find the German brands appealing may be drawn to the uniqueness of the Saab 9-5. The 9-5 has actually been on the market for quite a while. The car has been enhanced and updated in order to stay modern, but for the most part the 9-5 is very much the same car. Swedish firm Saab has made a living out of producing cars that are a little bit different and the company's 9-5 is one of those products; the driving and ownership experience is a world apart from its thrusting, Teutonic rivals. The 9-5 continues to focus on sound ergonomics, good levels of cabin space and refinement. The car has also received some exterior enhancements such as chrome highlights around the car's headlamps and a new nose. The car’s exterior is more attractive than ever and has a more distinguished look. Mechanical enhancements have improved the 9-5’s ride quality and now there are some impressive engines on offer. The Aero version of the 9-5 is the most impressive of all; boasting mid range performance, good acceleration, front-wheel drive and estate practicality. The Saab 9-5 model range lies within the price bracket of €39,300 - €42,300. ....................................................... .

IT'S official – Ford is readying an allnew hot hatch version of the Focus. Speaking on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, product development boss Derrick Kuzak confirmed that a new fast Focus is on the way. "It will get an EcoBoost turbocharged engine, be exciting to drive, great to look at and certainly worth waiting for," Kuzak said. Likely to be badged ST, the new model will ditch the current car's 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine for a more efficient and more powerful direct injection EcoBoost unit. Ford is staying tight lipped for now about exact details, but it's thought to be a 2.0-litre offering 250bhp. Along with 350Nm of torque, it should rocket the new ST from 060mph in six seconds and onto a top speed of 155mph. That will put it ahead of the VW Golf GTi and as rapid as the Renault Sport Megane 250. And while enthusiasts will miss the sound of the old ST's warbling five-cylinder unit, they'll welcome the new car's increased efficiency. Expect 35mpg combined and CO2

emissions of 175g/km. Factor in torque vectoring and a range of driving modes – two of the new Focus' highlight features – and it should be a riot to drive. The new Focus 5dr hatchback will go on sale early 2011, though, so don't expect to see the ST until later that year at the earliest. Before then, Ford will launch a lastof-the-line RS 'Clubsport' before embarking on a replacement for the RS which will get the same 2.0litre turbo charged EcoBoost engine, hooked up to a hybrid system complete with four-wheel drive. ........................

The iPhone 4 is, in many ways, the best iPhone Apple has ever made. It’s faster than the 3GS, yes, but it’s the screen that is the biggest leap forward in quality. The new faceforward camera not only works well with FaceTime, but opens the door to all sorts of other video conferencing possibilities in the future. And the rear-facing camera has taken a big step forward from the 3GS, offering quite high-quality stills and Flip-class HD video. With the addition of iMovie, you’ve got an entire home video studio in your hand. If only the iPhone 4 could play those HD-caliber videos back on an external HDTV itself. The iPhone 4 is also the first real design departure for the iPhone in two years; I like the metal styling and the solid feel, and the flat glass front and back are gorgeous. But I’m concerned that the glass back adds an unnecessary level of fragility to the product. What’s the point of designing a beautiful product if it’s so fragile that your customers need to stick it in a case (or wrap it in a rubber bumper) in order to protect it? And of course, I'm concerned about the fact that touching the phone in the wrong places can hamper cellular reception. Even with its many faults and taking everything into account, I found this phone to be the best one money can buy at the moment. It is so easy to use and has become a necessity for my day to day life with all its useful apps and features. Ok, its expensive, but you get what you pay for! .......................................................
