Sweeney Windows is understandably proud of its long standing reputation for providing exceptional uPVC window and trade frame products at competitive prices. Since 1982, the family run business has been installing quality windows, doors and conservatory systems out of their Tallaght base just off the Belgard Road. They have been located in the same place for nearly 30 years beside what was the Old Atlantic Home Care site (now Windsor Nissan). The original factory was replaced with a state of the art showroom and warehouse in 2007. Nick Sweeney, the originally founder, passed the family business onto his son Mark following his retirement in 2009. Nicks work ethic, high standard, friendly and professional service have all been passed onto Mark who worked with his father since a very young age. This point has been proven with high recommendations from customers which has kept this company alive in the hard times of both the 80's as well as the current financial downturn.

12

Sweeney Windows have now gone one step further in recent times – including Energy Efficient “A” and “B” rated windows in its line of products. We are all very conscious of the need for efficient use of energy in these days of global climate change and potential environmental impact. What is perhaps less well known is that the building sector accounts for up to 40% of total energy consumption. “A” rated windows can typically reduce heat loss by over 20% compared to more conventional ones, with the associated reduction in heating bills a distinct added attraction in the current economic climate.

"We have combined the latest technological advancements in both the Glass and uPVC sectors, to allow us to produce “A” and “B” rated windows across our colour range." says Mark No matter what your window needs, Sweeney Windows will be happy to help. They also offer a repair service. They are located just off the Belgard Road, beside Windsor Nissan, drop in to their showroom to have a look at what they have to offer. For a free, no obligation quote, call Mark on 087 251 4936.

At least, that's what she projects as the titular character in Hanna, an action thriller which is in cinemas from May 6th. At only 17, Saoirse Ronan already has 9 films and an Oscar nomination under her belt. But spend a few minutes with her while she’s munching on french fries and lounging barefoot, and you’ll see that this Irish actress is actually refreshingly normal. From geeking out over Lady Gaga to showing off her favorite Miu Miu brogues, she is totally charming. In other words, we were totally relieved to find that she’s the exact opposite of her scary hit-girl alter ego in the new action movie, Hanna. As Hanna, Ronan masters far more than passing a road test. "Two hours a day in the gym and two hours a day in martial arts" prepped her for icy winter shoots in Finland and Germany opposite Eric Bana, who plays her ex-CIA agent father prepping her for an ultimate, deadly showdown with intelligence agent Marissa Wiegler (Cate Blanchett). The film also reunites Ronan with Wright, who last directed her at age 13 to Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for her role as young Briony in Atonement, the child whose damning accusation drives star-crossed lovers James McAvoy and Keira Knightley apart. In an early meeting setting up a thendirectorless Hanna with the studio, it was Ronan who threw Wright's name in the pot. 16

"I get Joe Wright his work now," Ronan jokes in her upbeat Irish lilt. "Maybe a week later Joe rang me when I was back in Ireland and told me to get my trainers on and to get in the gym." "It's all her fault," confirms Wright, who describes her as preternaturally talented. "I was intrigued to see what had become of her and work with her again." Subzero temperatures made fight scenes in Finland grueling. "I'd never shot in conditions like that before," says Bana, adding that he and Ronan eyed the crew's Gore-tex jackets with a measure of jealousy while clad in their characters' fur pelts. "You really have to hop to a little tent that had a heater to stop getting hypothermia," he says. "For her to pull it off in the way that she did it was really incredible." Bubbly and witty in person, Ronan gave a searing performance that brings to mind the kind of Jodi Foster-like chops and focus her peers would kill for. And after attending the Oscars so young, Ronan says she'd like to go back again, "not necessarily to be nominated but just to go there and really appreciate it," she says. Home-schooled ("It's just easier," she says) in County Carlow, Ireland, the only child of Monica and actor Paul Ronan (The Devil's Own) is determined to go to college. "It's wonderful being on a film set, but essentially you're pretending to be someone else for like half the time," says Ronan, who wants to study art history. "So to go to a place for like, two years when you're at a really impressionable age and figure out who you actually are, I think that's just something that I definitely want to do." Ronan, who last made a splash in Peter Jackson's chilling adaptation of The Lovely Bones, acknowledges she's done "a lot of drama," but "it's just kind of the way it's worked out." Repeat business with famed directors seems to be her wheelhouse, and while "nothing's definite" that she'll play an elf in Jackson's upcoming epic, The Hobbit, she loves his New Zealand setup, where she shot Bones. "It's so separate from Hollywood," says Ronan. "He's got an entire crew that works with him on everything that he does, and it really, really feels like a family." Next, Ronan tries on lighter fare with black comedy Violet & Daisy opposite Alexis Bledel, due this year, and she has an eye out for a clever teen comedy, "like, say, Juno or, back in the day, Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

A teenage girl goes out into the world for the first time – and has to battle for her life. Director Joe Wright weaves elements of dark fairy tales into the adventure thriller Hanna, filmed on location in Europe and Morocco. Hanna (played by Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan of Atonement, also directed by Joe Wright) is 17 years old. She is bright, inquisitive, and a devoted daughter. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider; these come from being raised by her widowed father Erik (Eric Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of North Finland. Erik has taught Hanna to hunt, put her through extreme self-defense workouts, and home-schooled her with only an encyclopedia and a book of fairy tales. Hanna has been living a life unlike any other teenager; her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. But out in the world there is unfinished business for Hanna’s family, and it is with a combination of pride and apprehension that Erik realizes his daughter can no longer be held back. This turning point in Hanna’s adolescence is a sharp one; she is separated from Erik and embarks on the mission that she was always destined for. Before she and her father can reunite as planned in Berlin, Hanna is captured by agents dispatched by ruthless intelligence operative Marissa Wiegler (Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett). Marissa, a career agent, has long been harboring secrets that tie her to Hanna and Erik. Detained for observation and held beneath the Moroccan desert, Hanna soon turns the tables on her captors. Her daring escape to above-ground 18

thrusts her into an unfamiliar landscape and world which she must quickly learn to comprehend and navigate. Marissa secretly sends a team of agents after Hanna, and joins the deadly pursuit herself. As Hanna journeys across Europe and nears her ultimate target, she faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity. The singer will apparently perform tracks from her upcoming debut album on one of the live shows. Her eponymous album is set for release in August. Producers are said to have made the decision after being told by American fans that watching her performances online had inspired them to audition. Sources in the US have said: "Leona Lewis is the X Factor sweetheart in America but Cher is the flip side - talented but edgy. Everyone agrees she will show the US finalists and the American public that you don't just have to be bubblegum pop to be a success."

He went on to say, "The characters are real and emotionally grounded, but they still like to have fun, wear great clothes, solve crime and kick some serious ass... we hope to surprise people and bring a whole new generation to Charlie's Angels." The series is set for release this Autumn in the US.

InTallaght magazine welcome back A&J Ltd., to bring you their monthly make up feature. Building on last month’s skin analysis, this month they progress to foundation and the different methods of applying it. ................................................................................................................

A good foundation is key to the even tone and texture of your makeup. Your foundation is the base that the rest of your makeup will rest on.

Choosing The Right Shade Choosing the right colour foundation for your skin is one of the most important things you can do. The easiest way you can tell is by testing a small amount of the product on your chest, or jaw line. The foundation, if it is right for your skin, should disappear. It is also important to know your choice in moisturiser will affect the finish to the foundation. So ensure you have the correct one for your skin type. If you read last month’s tips, you should have found the perfect moisturiser for your skin type already.

Choosing The Right Tool Choosing the right tool to apply your foundation is also important, there are many different appliances on the market, which all result in different finishes, so researching your tool is very important.

A.

A flat synthetic brush: This will give a fuller coverage.

B. A duo fibre brush (containing two types of hair): This will give you a lighter “air brushed” effect. C. A sponge will give a lovely finish to the skin, however, as it absorbs a lot of product, it can lead to waste.

D.

The Beauty blender, which is another version of a sponge, but provides a seamless finish, without absorbing product.

.....................................................................................................................................................................................

..................................................................................................................... Your hands, are also a perfect medium to use. Whatever you are most comfortable using, and as long as you are getting the desired result.

A.

Application Advice

B.

Always remember it is important to start with a small amount of product. It is a lot easier to add make up to the face, than it is to take it away. Always work from the center of the face outwards, so the majority of product is on the cheeks, close to the nose, the bridge of the nose, on the chin and between the eyes. Start to blend the product towards the edge of the face and down the neck slightly. Choosing your under eye concealer, make sure it is a moisturizing one, and light in texture. To counteract a dark circle, make sure your concealer has a warm or pink tone to it. If you have redness around the eye area, make sure your product has a cool or yellow tone to it. Finally, using a setting powder, loose or compact will do. Roll the brush or powder puff on your skin, using a bit of pressure to “set” your foundation. This insures the foundation underneath is kept in perfect shape. Take time to check from ear to ear, neck and hairline to make sure your foundation is flawless.

Recipe Adapted by Kristin Jensen

adapted from Jamie at Home by Jamie Oliver Serves 4 as a light dinner or lunch As often as not, I lazily skip the lemon, vinegar and olive oil dressing and just mix the horseradish crème fraîche into the potatoes instead of dolloping it over the salad. In that case, add the lemon zest to the crème fraîche and sprinkle the capers over the salad instead. 1 1/4lb (570g) New Potatoes (Washed) Sea Salt Freshly Ground Black Pepper Zest & Juice of 1 Large Lemon Splash of Red Wine Vinegar Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2 Tablespoons Capers (Drained) 14oz (400g) Smoked Salmon (Roughly Chopped) A Small Bunch of Fresh Dill or Fennel Tops (Roughly Chopped), or 1 Tablespoon Dried Dill 2 or 3 Tablespoons Jarred Horseradish Sauce, or to taste 1/2 cup (120 ml) Crème Fraîche

Cut the potatoes into halves or quarters, depending on their size (you want them to be in bite-sized pieces). Tip into a pot of boiling salted water and boil for 10 to 15 minutes, until the potatoes are just cooked. Drain in a colander and cover with a tea towel to dry them out a bit while you 28

make the dressing. Put the lemon zest and half the lemon juice into a bowl and add the vinegar. Pour in three times as much olive oil as lemon juice and add the capers. Season the dressing with salt and pepper and whisk to combine. Transfer the potatoes to a large bowl and drizzle the dressing over them. Toss gently until the potatoes are all well coated. Add the smoked salmon and most of the dill and toss again. Transfer the potatoes and salmon to

a serving bowl or platter or individual plates. Mix the horseradish sauce into the crème fraîche with the remaining lemon juice and some salt and pepper. Dollop the crème fraîche over the salad and sprinkle over the rest of the dill or fennel. See Kristin's blog, Dinner du Jour, at www.dinnerdujour.org for more great recipes.

One of the most serious problems affecting Ireland is the amount of home owners in mortgage arrears. If you are having difficulties paying your mortgage you are not alone according to the latest figures up to 6% of mortgages were in arrears by the end of 2010. If you are in arrears, or are having problems paying your monthly repayments you should contact your bank and explain your financial situation, above all do not panic or ignore the situation. As the economic difficulties continue we, in O’Brien Ronayne are finding that banks are becoming more accustomed to dealing with customers in difficulties and want to work to keep them in their homes. You may be able to re-organise your finances by paying an interest only payment for a period, alternatively, you might be able to extend the term of your mortgage or take a break from mortgage repayments for a specified period of time. All of these options can be available to you, but you must make contact with your bank and open a line of negotiation with them. Alternatively, if, for whatever reason, you feel unable to contact your bank directly, you can always contact the free Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) to help you budget your household expenses and, if necessary, prepare a detailed financial proposal for your bank. Alternatively, you can always contact us at O’Brien

01 30

Ronayne where we would be happy to assist in any way that we possibly can. The Financial Regulator has issued a Code of Conduct on mortgage arrears which applies to all customers in relation to their principal private residence or family home. This Code of Conduct should be available in your local branch and provides that repossession is to be the last resort of the bank.

At O’Brien Ronayne we have a wide range of experience of dealing with clients who are in arrears with their mortgages and personal loans. .....................................................

For More Information: Please do not hesitate to contact us at 1800 444 332 or at info@obr.ie. You may rest assured that we will do our utmost to bring your business with us to a satisfactory conclusion.

If you are no longer able to pay your mortgage, and are in negative equity, all is not lost. Your bank may reach an agreement to allow you to sell your property and restructure the outstanding balance on your mortgage after sale. At O’Brien Ronayne we are aware of circumstances whereby banks are now willing to deal with such problems on a case by case basis and, again, you should either contact your bank directly or discuss your options with O’Brien Ronayne. Remember, if you are tempted to HAND THE KEYS BACK you will still be liable for the mortgage debt, any interest accrued, legal charges, etc. It could also cause further problems e.g., in relation to your entitlement to certain social welfare benefits. Most solicitors will provide a first consultation free of charge. At O’Brien Ronayne we would be quite happy to discuss matters with you on the basis of a free first consultation.

This is the world’s first luxury compact hatchback hybrid - and it has finally landed in Ireland. As of March, Lexus began delivering examples of the CT200h here, mostly to fleet drivers keen to reap the benefits of low company car tax, and to drive a Lexus for little more than a wellequipped volume family hatchback.

Running the same powertrain as the latest Toyota Prius, a 1.8-litre, 98bhp Atkinson cycle petrol engine mated to an 81bhp, 153lb ft electric motor, the CT200h produces a maximum 134bhp at 5200rpm via the front wheels. It’s slow by premium compact class standards: 62mph takes 10.3sec to come up, and maximum speed is 112mph. The trade-off, aside from those tax-saving low emissions,

is claimed economy of almost 70mpg. The CT200h is a car with a great deal going for it. Leaving dynamic considerations aside, it would be a very satisfying car to spend time in, a cheap car to run and a surprisingly affordable one to lease. .....................................................

Why Pick Costa del Sol? The resorts within the Costa del Sol cover 150 kilometres of coast line with long stretches of sand leading into the warm Mediterranean Sea. There are numerous opportunities for aqua sports including dolphin watching in the Straits of Gibraltar. The nightlife is so diverse that there is something to suit all tastes. From a romantic meal in a waterfront restaurant to dancing into the small hours, the Costa del Sol has it all.

When To Go? Although the Costa del Sol is a year round holiday venue, the summer holiday period is probably the most popular time to go, with guaranteed sunshine and warm seas. However, it is also a good place to go to escape from the cold Irish winter.

Where To Stay? There are many resorts along the Costa del Sol including, amongst others Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Marbella. All have a wide variety of hotels, villas and high-rise apartments. Apart from relaxing in the sunshine, the beaches offer many water sports including jet skiing, sailing, scuba diving and dolphin safaris. 28

The Costa del Sol, meaning "Coast of the Sun" is a region in the south of Spain, comprising the coastal towns and communities along the Mediterranean. Formerly made up only of a series of small, quiet fishing settlements, the region has been completely transformed during the latter part of the 20th century into a tourist destination of world renown. ................................................................................................................................................................

Torremolinos

Malaga

Torremolinos is located 7km west of MĂĄlaga airport and was the first Costa del Sol resort to be developed back in the early sixties. It has evolved as an attractive and appealing resort noted for its clean sandy beaches, wide choice of hotels and restaurants and unparalleled variety of entertainment, activities and nightlife available.

Birthplace of Picasso, the attractive, cosmopolitan city of Malaga lies on a beautiful sweep of bay in Andalucia. Blessed with sunshine and a spectacular quality of light, Malaga is a city of wide boulevards, swaying palm trees, lively nightlife, good museums and excellent seafood restaurants.

Packed with tantalising shops, thronging with people of every nationality and located right at the heart of the town is the pedestrian only Calle San Miguel, the main artery of the town. This smartly paved pedestrianised street is lined with boutiques and shops with a great variety of goods on offer, attracting a constant flow of people. At the same time, if it's family fun you want, Torremolinos is hard to beat with seasonal seasports including windsurfing, paragliding, water skiing and pedal boats. If this sounds all just too energetic however, then of course there is the sunlounger alternative or plenty of places where you can while away the hours sitting in picturesque surroundings, sipping a glass of sangria and simply watching the world go by.

As well as being a cultural centre, Malaga is also a great place to eat out. The MalagueĂąos love their food and the bars and restaurants here are where the real social life takes place. Tapas, small portions of many different dishes is an Andalusian tradition and a wonderfully inexpensive way to try a variety of local food.

The Hoops continued their fine run of form into April, finishing the first series of league games with an impressive 20 points. And Rovers also secured a place in the 2011 Setanta Sports Cup Final for their great efforts in the month gone by. Tallaght Stadium will be the venue for that cup final game, after being selected by the Setanta Sports Cup committee – the Hoops have been drawn as the away team for the tie. Full ticket details are available from the club website at www.shamrockrovers.ie – be sure to check this out early, in order to avoid disappoint, as demand is expected to outstrip supply. Rovers started April in flying form, securing a 4-0 away win over Drogheda on April 1. The Hoops then went on the pick up further league wins against UCD and Galway United and two valuable away points against Bohemians and Dundalk, who always provide tough opposition. The only defeat came at the hands of high-flying Bray Wanders, who currently lie second to the Hoops in the Airtricity League table.

Those results leave Rovers three points clear at the top of the league, with an impressive 21 points – a greater return than this time last year in our league winning campaign. Rovers have another extremely busy month on the cards in May, with four league games to play, as well as the Setanta Sports Cup Final. The first of those games is a Dublin Derby on May 9, followed by Drogheda and Bohemians at home, and Bray away in the Carlisle Grounds – our first trip to the seaside since picking up the 2010 Airtricity League title there last October. So be sure to get out and support the Hoops – your local top-level club – in this coming month! .......................................................
