FOLLOW ME ON
It’s as easy as 1-2-3! 1. Set up Twitter Account. 2. Set up cell phone to receive text messages from Twitter. 3. Follow Mrs. Dixon in Twitter & get “tweets” sent to your cell phone.
First, create a Twitter account.
Go to www.twitter.com Click on Get Started-Join.
Enter your FULL name and a unique user name, password, and email address. Enter the verification text. Click Create my account. At the See if your friends are on Twitter screen, click Skip this step.
Update your Facebook from Twitter.
At the Look who else is here. Start following them! screen, click Skip this step.
Next, set up your cellphone to receive text messages from Twitter.
You will be directed to your Twitter homepagetwitter.com/username. You can give your address out to people so that they can follow you on Twitter. To activate your phone, click option #3 Turn on your mobile phone.
Enter your cellphone number. Do NOT enter your country code or the + sign. Just put in your 10-digit number. Click the box that says it is okay for Twitter to send you text messages. Standard rates apply, so if you get charged for receiving text messages check with your parents before setting this up. Click save. Verify your phone number. Take out your cellphone and text the code to 40404. Once you have sent the text, Twitter will send you a text message saying that your number has been verified.
Finally, follow Mrs. Dixon in Twitter & get messages sent to your cellphone.
Your screen should still be on the text verification screen. In the Internet Explorer address area (or Safari/ Firefox), type in Mrs. Dixon’s Twitter address:
Under the avatar is a button that says Follow. Click that button. It will tell you that you are now following Mrs. Dixon, but it also says that your Device [cellphone] updates are OFF. Click on the words Device updates OFF.
Under Device updates, click ON.
Click on SETTINGS and select picture to add your photo or a special design. Go to SETTINGS and select account to change the time zone so you don’t get texts at crazy times. If you want to organize your “tweets” on your computer, you can download Tweet Deck.
Always get parent permission before downloading or creating accounts from the Internet.
