For 43 years, the Steamboat Classic has been Central Illinois’ premier running event. But it’s more than a race—it’s a community event. A dedicated force of hundreds of volunteers and sponsors have made the Steamboat Classic an event that impacts our region in a positive way all throughout the year. Attracting runners from around the world and around the block, the Steamboat Classic is an equal-opportunity athletic event, welcoming walkers, joggers and runners of all ages and ability levels. Whether this is your first time or you’re going for your best time, one of the Steamboat Classic events is perfect for you. Participants in each race will receive a race entry, complimentary technical race shirt, and entry to the Finish Line festival to celebrate their achievements.

RACE DAY INSTRUCTIONS NUMBERS & CHRONOTRACK BIB — Please pin your number on the FRONT of your shirt or shorts. This is your primary timing device – no tag, no time! RESTROOMS — Women’s and Men’s restrooms are located on the east (river) side of the Gateway Building. Additional unisex porta-johns are located on the west side of the Gateway Building. PRE-RACE WATER — Water is available at the Clock Tower turn around at the foot of Main Street. START 4 MILE & 15K — At 6:30 am, all participants should go to the Staging Area on Main Street. Estimate your approximate minute-per mile pace for your entire race and line up accordingly. “Minutes per Mile” signs will be posted and seeding monitors will assist will in this process. You should not be in the first four rows unless you will run under 5:15 minutes per mile! No children or young teenagers should be in the first six rows. After seeding, we will move to the starting line. The race will start promptly at 7:00 am. To facilitate race day packet pickup, please do not congregate around or under the Gateway Building. START 2 MILE — At 7:45 am, all 2 Mile Participants should go to the Staging Area on the south side of Hamilton Blvd. The 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk will start promptly at 8:00 am. COURSE 4 MILE & 15K – After turning left onto Abington, all runners will turn right and enter Glen Oak Park. At the end of the grass median, 4 Mile runners will make a sharp right turn and 15K runners will angle to their right and go up the hill and complete two (2) loops through Glen Oak Park. Please pay attention to the course monitors and instructions. 2 MILE — After turning right onto Madison, all runners will be merging with runners in the 15K Run. SPLITS 4 MILE — Digital clocks will provide split times at 1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles, and 5K. “1/2 mile to go” and “1/4 mile to go” will be clearly marked. 15K — Digital clocks will provide 15K runners’ split times at 1 mile, 2 miles, 5K and 10K. Miles 3 through 9 along with “2 miles to go”, “1 mile to go”, “1/2 mile to go” and “1/4 mile to go” will be clearly marked. Split times will be collected at 5K and 10K; and an additional timing system will be used to verify completion of the multiple loops. 2 MILE — Digital clocks will provide split times at 1 mile. “1/2 mile to go” and “1/4 mile to go” will be clearly marked. AID STATIONS — Water available at approximately the following locations 1 1/2, 2 3/4, 3 3/4, 4 3/4, 6, 7 3/4, 8 3/4 miles. Gatorade will be available at 2 3/4 and 4 3/4 miles. FINISH — As you cross the finish line, please keep moving through to the end of the wide chutes. All races use the same chute. All participants will receive a finisher’s medal. Your finish time will be visible on both sides of the large clock positioned over the finish line. Medical assistance, water, and other post-race refreshments, including BUD LIGHT and PEPSI products along with food will be available at the Post Race Party under the bridge. AWARDS — The Awards Ceremony will be held in the Northeast corner of Festival Park. Please see the race day schedule for additional details. SAFETY — We advise participants to always be aware of fellow participants, our volunteers, and public safety officials. Please follow the course signage and the instructions from volunteers at all times. For your safety, and the safety of other participants, we request that you do not wear headphones. Full attention and maximum hearing are necessary in an urban race of this size. Children under the age of eight are not permitted unless accompanied by an adult who is registered in the race. Please drink plenty of liquids before the race. If you show danger signs, medical or race personnel may remove you from the course.

GET READY FOR A BIG 2017! We are already gearing up for the 2017 44th Annual Steamboat Classic, Central Illinois’ Premier Race. Our internationally renowned event is open to runners of all levels, and year after year the event has provided an incredible challenge for thousands, providing participants and spectators with year after year of exciting races. But the Steamboat Classic is more than just a race. It’s a weekend event that is all about community. To that end, Steamboat Participants and volunteers have maintained a strong commitment to volunteerism, and the local community has long been a great supporter of the event. Thanks to all of the great local sponsors and volunteers. The Classic continues to promote youth through the Steamboat Classic Building Steam programs--four unique programs that work with local youth, individuals with disabilities, and adult runners to help make running available to all via mentorship,

training, and accessability. Partnerships with Easter Seals, the W.D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts, and others are at the heart of what the Steamboat is all about. Competitve runners come from around the world to take on the challenge of the Steamboat Classic, as do spectators and fun seekers. Whether you want to walk, jog, or just grab something great to eat and check out the races, there is something for everyone. Peoria’s downtown SteamBoat Days Festival features great live music, delicious food and drink, carnival rides, and games. Check out the Bags tournament or other family oriented events.
