Dewan Architects + Engineers recently moved their Dubai teams from Al Wasl road to a spacious office in Dubai Design District with the purpose of fostering more creativity which is naturally generated in this area of the city. The main interior design concept is to engage a major interaction between the different departments and to welcome partners in the neighbourhood. Therefore, an open plan layout was preferred to traditional partitions. The program also includes the design of the main entrance, lounge, reception, corridors, meeting rooms, open working offices, employee center, sample board rooms, break areas and public toilets.

Workstations have been arranged in a way so team members face one another to increase communication between them. All the departments are separated by informal breakout areas originated by light shelving systems and different floor textures which have a double function of facilitating spontaneous meetings as well as having an aesthetic significance and practical use. The use of greenery enhances this open divisions and provides a peaceful resting experience for the team when they seek to relax. The use of color also has a predominant role in creating visually distinct spaces as well as adding a fun, creative element to the office layout. The industrial feel of the office is clearly notorious by the use of exposed pipes and concrete ceilings which also add an interesting, geometrical feature to Dewan’s new office space.

Tecom Office Building
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates Year: 2018 Status: Detail Design Program: Offices
The interior design concept follows the client’s view of delivering work environments in the city of Dubai which foster innovative ecosystems. Focusing on the public areas of the Group’s office building, the proposed design achieves a visual coherence by integrating natural materials, colors and lighting in a modern and contemporary language which reflect the company’s ethos and corporate identity. The program includes the design of the reception area, access control and public toilets. The reception and lobby areas act as the first point of contact for employees and visitors to the building. Thus, a warm welcome is highlighted by a wide space where stone and wood create a natural palette of textures and hues in different geometric patterns which add some spatial and aesthetic interest. The space is furnished with a seating area suitable to host meetings or to perform a role as a comfortable waiting room.
Lobby
The whole area is cleverly lit with integrated modular lighting on the ceiling combined with sculptural and geometrical lights which break the horizontal and vertical lines of the lobby. The same design language is applied in the access control and public toilets areas, highlighting the cohesiveness and welcoming spirit of the public areas enhanced by a modern, clean, yet distinguishable design. Enoc Tower
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates Year: 2017 Status: Detail Design Program: Offices
The Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) Tower is a commercial tower located in Downtown Dubai, near Burj Khalifa and Dubai Metro Station. The scheme consists of 35-36 floors of leasable Grad A office accommodation, one amenity floor with a cafeteria, one floor of meeting and training rooms, associated public areas, external space and basement, on-grade and podium car parking. Moreover, the building strives to achieve a LEED Gold Standard in both design and construction. The purpose of its design is to attract local and international tenants. For this reason, the main interior design concept is to provide occupiers with a bright and airy environment to increase performance and wellbeing in a contemporary language in line with the current innovations happening in the workspace. Noble materials like wood and stone have a key role in achieving this purpose as well as creating elegant and rich textures on surfaces and walls. These materials also provide resistance for daily wearand-tear.
Main Lobby
Other elements of the program include the interior design of the main lobby, lift lobbies, meeting rooms and public toilets. Floor plans and soft colors provide a fully flexible layout to allow tenants to customize it according to their needs. Overall, these office spaces strive to succeed in providing a modern, healthy and elegant work environment in one of Dubai’s most sought-after and prestigious locations.

Fly Dubai Headquarters
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates Year: 2016 Status: Detail Design Program: Offices
The new Fly Dubai headquarters will provide a new 20,000m2 home on Emirates Road and allow the company to incorporate a series of facilities like training and sport grounds, a medical clinic, a selection of restaurants and enough office space to meet the airline’s operational needs. Making use of the latest designs and innovations available in the construction industry, the key factor is to provide a sustainable working environment for all employees, as all teams will be now united under the same roof. The program includes the interior design of the main entrance, lounge, reception, lift lobbies and corridors, food courts, restaurants, prayer rooms, staff clinic, gym, indoor games, VIP lounge, meeting rooms, offices, government center, employee center, library, training center with classrooms, administration and public toilets. The concept for the design of the headquarters takes inspiration from the country’s natural surroundings and geology; the desert life and the continuous search for the oasis as a way of finding a breathing space from the harshness of the environment. This metaphor is reinterpreted through the beauty of the dunes by replicating the natural colors of sand and pastel blue tones. This choice of palettes, together with the use of locally-found greenery, create surprising zones which replicate the joyfulness of finding the longing oasis. Local patterns are also replicated under a contemporary design language, which together with the geometrically-shaped lamps and rugs, reference the ambition of the airline to grow in a domestic and international scale.
