AIESEC INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS POLAND 2016

CLOSING REPORT

Š 2016 The Coca-Cola Company. Wszelkie prawa zastrzeşone.

Dear Partners, AIESECers from all over the world, family and friends! When back in August 2015, our team sat in our office for the first time and started discussion about work for AIESEC International Congress 2016 we soon found out our common characteristic – love for Poland. Even though we were from different cities, we had different university background and interests we all shared the belief that Poland is a place to be! Through-out more than 400 days of our work, we were proudly representing this country, showing capabilities of this nation’s youth. We started our personal legends with the story of this Congress. Brining 1000 young leaders to the very heart of Europe was for us a mission, because well reality outperforms our image. We did our best to showcase modern, hospitable and bold Poland by stories of inspiring Poles, modern life and emotions we live every day. On the other hand, we’ve always perceived AIESEC International Congress as a huge opportunity to engage young Polish people to speak in the global public debate, on major social and economic challenges. Taking care of wide presence in media and events reaching academic campuses in Poland, we marked values of AIESEC in our society. We’re now proudly closing AIESEC’s 68th International Congress but it would have not been possible without those who believed in us —supporting us in everyway. Thank you to all of the organizations that joined us as partners for this Congress. Without whose commitment and support, this event would not be possible. For all those moments that we will cherish till the rest of our lives, for all the obstacle we found strength to fight, for all those days spent in office – here’s to the Congress Committee Team who brought the whole world to Poland. No words will ever describe what this experience meant for us.

ABOUT AIESEC INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

AIESEC International Congress is the annual convening of AIESEC and its members from 126 countries, aimed at celebrating youth leadership, cultural diversity and global togetherness. The purpose of the conference is to gather youth delegates, business leaders, entrepreneurs and global trailblazers who will strategize and co-create AIESEC’s vision for a brief future. The 68th AIESEC International Congress was hosted by Poland’s capital from the 14th to 23rd of August 2016. More than 1000 young participants from 120 countries and regions of the world came to Warsaw. By bringing the Congress to Poland for a third time the organizers wanted to give the Polish youth a chance to speak in front of their counterparts from around the world, present Poland’s heritage and its potential to the international guests as well as gather in one place representatives of different generations, environments and cultures, and inspire them to act together. By bringing youth power to the heart of Europe we sparked Poland and draw attention to its potential. Moreover, the Congress was aiming to strengthen cooperation between the governmental, corporate and non-governmental sectors, contributing to the creation of innovative solutions to current burning world issues.

Wedel True and real chocolate since 1851 Wedel is the oldest chocolate brand in Poland, providing pleasure to consumers with its products for over 160 years. Emil Wedel was an unwavering optimist who infected others with his attitude. Treats bearing the Wedel name quickly won the hearts of the people, and the business went into the hands of subsequent generations which perfected the art of making chocolate. Since September 2010 Wedel has been part of the Japan-based Lotte Group, an international company founded in 1948 and initially focused on the chewing gum market. The Wedel brand means flavor and superior quality chocolate with an intense, familiar taste. This recognizable, deep flavor is owed to top quality cocoa from Ghana, and the chocolate, made in the Praga district of Warsaw and bearing Emil Wedel’s own signature, has been winning rankings for the most consumer-recommended brand in Poland for years.

PARTNERS ENGAGEMENT With about 1.8 billion young people of age between 10 and 24, we are facing the largest youth population ever. TESTIMONIALS Bio Sabidare, Benin - AIESEC International Congress delegate #iSeePoland was a very special experience to me for 3 reasons: it was my first International Congress (and I intend to experience more), secondly I attended as head of national AIESEC office in Benin, and third as only delegate from my entity. At the end of the day, I felt as if I always belonged to this global environment, I had amazing times during and after the Congress. This was my best conference experience so far in my life.

Gianna Vahtsavanidou, Greece - AIESEC International Congress delegate Participating in International Congress 2016 in Poland made me a better person and for sure a better AIESECer. By discussing with people from all around the world and the top leaders of our organization I understand perspectives that I would never did before. For sure AIESEC’s International Congress is a conference that everyone who is intrested about AIESEC and its in a Leadership position should attend ;)

Maciej Kautz, Master of Opening Ceremony Hosting the AIESEC International Congress was a blast! I always enjoy participating in events that are well prepared. This one had an incredible venue as well. One of the biggest opera houses in Europe! Last but not least - the audience. What’s that thing that gives the AIESEC people so much enthusiasm?!

Simone Romeo, Iran - AIESEC International Congress delegate International Congress is the real soul of AIESEC, the image of our diversity and the place where inspiration, innovation, and unity happen and leave a mark. This Congress was a journey where we made the first steps to achieve our mid-term ambition – AIESEC 2020. A journey made of the stories of the delegates, the real protagonists of this experience. AIESEC International was brilliant in facilitating this co-creation process as the skilled director of an exciting movie, and AIESEC in Poland was excellent in providing the right stage, the right colors, and the right atmosphere to make this happen.

Przemysław Mirowski, polish student and participant of Global YouthSpeak Forum I’m travelling a lot, taking part and organizing many international youth projects and conferences all around the globe. Nevertheless I must say that based on my experience, Global YouthSpeak Forum is a truly exceptional initiative – the environment that you cannot find anywhere else. Definitely the 2016 edition in Poland also went way beyond my expectations. I have got a chance to get inspired from huge number (more than one thousand) young, educated and extremely motivated leaders coming from every single country you can imagine and having absolutely different backgrounds. What is more, I met several top global enterprises and NGO representatives and I have learned about professional choices, sustainability and made new friends.

Seeing 800 young people from 120+ countries to meet with one purpose never ceases to amaze me. I got a chance to speak with a lot of inspiring people from the network or partners, contributed to our progress towards 2020 and most of all - got a lot of ideas to bring back home and move our entity forward!

Marcin Illukiewicz, Audiofeels The atmosphere that created guests from all over the world during the Congress of AIESEC hard to put into words. From the first sounds we could hear a great applause and we knew that this concert we will remember! We are glad that we could be part of the Opening Ceremony and thank you for the beautiful moments on the stage of the Teatr Wiellki - Polish National Opera .

Krzysiek Jackowski SpeakOut Tour was an unique opportunity to meet people who care about sustainability. Each special guest and speaker pointed at different aspects of that topic, what enabled better understanding of how important it is. The key moment of the event was Jasiek Mela's inspiring speech, who encouraged to never give up, especially in the situation, when our actions affect positively the environment. Event was summed up by students' speeches that covered the topics of education and UN's sustainable development goals.
