language learning

Teaching methods We use a range of different materials such as course books, the Internet, authentic materials and your own experience. You will do a lot of pair, group and project work. This will help you to help each other to complete gaps in your knowledge and exchange ideas, whilst project work will enable you to practice English in a freer and more fluent manner.

Academic purposes We are very happy to welcome you to your International Projects language experience designed especially for you by our own IP school - Europa School of English – a British Council accredited school offering year round language programmes for both juniors and adults.

For our older learners from 13 years onwards, we work with a new Internet-based curriculum and most of our classrooms offer Internet access. This teaching material facilitates access to the most up to date and modern topics and can avoid boring teaching contents that might not relate to the students’ lives. The younger students below the age of 13 work with a specifically designed Young Learners’ Syllabus based on a variety of teaching materials from different sources. This syllabus concentrates on topics and contents interesting for younger students and is not entirely Internet-based.

Courses on offer for juniors (lessons of 45 minutes)

Our academic aim is to help you improve and become confident in your all-round language ability to achieve your individual goals, such as experiencing travel abroad (maybe for the first time), career development and personal growth. In class your teacher will help you improve in both receptive and productive skills, develop intercultural competence and help you to become a more autonomous learner, so that your learning can continue after you leave us.

General English: 15 lessons a week, morning lessons only Each of the three morning lessons focuses on a specific area of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, or communicative activities and speaking practice. Our aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills. The goal of the course is to strengthen your communication skills and help you overcome your own speaking inhibitions. Intensive English: 20 lessons a week, morning lessons only The course consists of the full General Course content plus an additional lesson per day, which focuses on a fourth area of language learning: writing skills. Super-Intensive English: 25 lessons a week This course consists of the Intensive English Course plus two afternoons (Wednesday and Friday) with 2.5 lessons each per

week. You will be working with culture-based materials towards a final presentation. You will gain cultural knowledge and also improve your presentation skills. Summer College Course in Winchester: 35 lessons a week This course consists of two parts. In the mornings you take part in the Intensive English Course in groups (maximum 15 students). In addition, you will have 5 additional lessons in the afternoons in groups (maximum 10 students). Mini Group 20 lessons a week (4 students maximum), morning lessons only This is a highly individualised course. The lessons are based on the same concept as the Intensive English Course. Learn more than a language During the summer months, young people from all over Europe meet in our schools to spend their holidays and learn a foreign language together. Language classes take place in the mornings and lessons reflect local life and tie in intercultural experiences such as understanding life in other cultures and countries. In the afternoons and evenings there is an extensive activity programme run by our International Team. You will try new things and find out what is important to you. It is not only fun, but lets your personality shine through. You will get to know your own talents and interests better than you thought, and at the same time you will develop your social and team skills by completing activities with your friends. Everything is done in the foreign language and you will be able to use your language skills in a practical way. You will notice fairly quickly how much easier the language is when you use it regularly.
