Upper School Activities 1st Trimester Welcome to the International School of Prague and to a new school year; the summer seems to have passed so quickly. It is great to be back catching up with parents, teachers and students as well as m eeting the newcomers to our community. We are very proud of our Activities Program and this booklet gives an overview of our annual programs as well as more detail as to what is on offer this first trimester. You will find a range of activities available including cultural, technical, athletic, artistic, leadership or environmentally focused. We do hope your child will make the most of the tremendous opportunities available to them. Upper School Students are responsible for signing up for A ctivities themselves. Activities will be advertised in the bulletin and more th information can be sought during our lunchtime activities fair and enquiring with advisors. Although the trimester begins on August 20 some activities may start and finish at a different date. Please refer to the specific activity description in this booklet. Please if you ever have any questions feel free to come and talk to us in the Activities Office.

Model United Nations Meetings: Tuesdays 3.15-‐4.30. MUN is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. Students role play countries and attempt to represent their views in formal debate of international issues. Badminton
Practice Days: Thursdays after school in main gym. Start Date: August 26th 4 – 5.30pm Badminton runs once a week during the first trimester and is open to all students of all abilities. Students can come to play recreationally Bring: Appropriate sports clothing Sign up: Not needed this is a ‘drop in’ recreational activity.

Golf Academy Training Days: Tuesday bus departs ISP 3.15 and returns around 6pm Start Date: August 26th ISP Golf Academy is run in conjunction with Albatross Golf course and is a 7 lesson course. There is a charge for this activity of 500kc per session payable to Albatros. The bus will depart from school at 3.15. Lessons are for beginners and improvers alike. ISP Activities Association (ISPAA) Meeting Days: Thursday Lunchtimes Start Date: Sept 11th The ISPAA is a student led organisation that helps plan, organise and keep our community and Alumni up to date on the student activities at ISP. Spinning and Running Club Meeting Days: Tuesdays or Thursdays Start Date: TBC The club meets once a week. This is recreational and students use it to improve their health and fitness and some even participate in the Prague marathon events. Advisors: Shannon Leggett sleggett@isp.cz
National Honor Society
Meeting Days: Thursday Lunch. Start Date: TBC The NHS is an International organization dedicated to the academic, personal and interpersonal growth of young individuals. Our chapter of the NHS works primarily to plan projects, raise awareness, and bridge the separate sections of our school into a cohesive and interactive community. Vocal Workshop Meet Days: Thursdays 3.15-‐4.30 pm Start Date: September 11th This group will give you the opportunity to develop your voice and to sing in close harmony with others. There will be lots of space for solo singing if that's what you like. Style-‐wise, we can take it absolutely anywhere! The International Award ‘Formerly known as the Duke of Edinburgh Award’
Meeting Days: Tuesday Lunchtimes The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (referred to as ‘the Award’) is open to 14-‐24-‐year-‐olds and encourages young people to design their own programme of activities over time, set their own goals and challenge themselves. The Award is about personal development and involves our students in a range of experiences from camp craft to service work. Community Service Club Meeting Days: Wednesday lunchtimes Start Date: TBC Community Service Club is a group of service-‐minded students who like to create a sense of community in ISP and in Prague by sponsoring events, making trips to local refugee centers, and, in general, helping wherever needed. Projects have included singing in local hospitals, teaching English to children at a refugee center downtown, and raising money for tsunami victims. Sign up via bulletin.
