E’ mio dovere ricordare che la nautica italiana rappresenta un’eccellenza del made in Italy conosciuta e apprezzata in tutto il mondo; per questo motivo non posso che accogliere con grande favore una mostra che intende ripercorrere la storia del made in Italy nautico attraverso l’esposizione dei modelli di 10 imbarcazioni del “primo leggendario periodo della nautica da diporto italiana”, che hanno dato un importante contributo alla creazione di quello che, oltreoceano, viene definito “Mediterranean Style”. Mi auguro che il visitatore possa emozionarsi di fronte ai prodotti nautici esposti, ripercorrendo da vicino alcune delle tappe più significative che hanno segnato il cammino del design nautico italiano. La crisi economica che stiamo attraversando non ha risparmiato il comparto nautico, ma sono convinto che la capacità di innovare e il “saper fare” delle nostre aziende siano il vero punto di partenza per il rilancio del settore. Se è vero che presente e futuro non possono esistere senza il passato, allora il domani che attende il design nautico made in Italy è destinato a scrivere ancora nuove ed entusiasmanti pagine della propria storia.
It is my duty to remind you that Italian boat building is one of the most recognized segments of Made in Italy and its known and appreciated all over the world,. This is why I can only warmly welcome an exhibition which traces the history of Italian boating through the exposure of 10 boats of the "legendary first period of Italian leisure boating " that have made an important contribution to the creation of what, overseas, is called "Mediterranean Style". I hope that visitors will be touched by that which is exposed, in this virtual journey along the most significant milestones that have marked the path of the Italian nautical design. The economic crisis we are going through has not spared the boating sector, but I am convinced that the ability to innovate and the "know how" of our companies are the new starting point for the renewal of the industry. If it is true that the present and the future cannot exist without the past, then the future that awaits Italian boating will write new and exciting pages of its history.

Con queste parole gli organizzatori del Salone, Sara Armella, Presidente di Fiera di Genova, e Anton Francesco Albertoni, Presidente di Ucina Confindustria nautica, hanno presentato la 53esima edizione. “L’evoluzione della manifestazione - hanno proseguito Fiera e Ucina - nasce dall’ascolto e dall’approfondimento di tutte quelle istanze che erano emerse da più parti già al termine della scorsa manifestazione. Un ascolto condotto da Ucina su cantieri ed espositori e da Fiera, attraverso una ricerca di Eurisko, su visitatori e operatori. Questi e molti altri input ci hanno condotti a una riformulazione del Salone, che risponda meglio alle mutate esigenze del mercato, con l’obiettivo ultimo di mantenere inalterata la leadership del Salone a Genova”
The 2013 Boat Show is very different from those in the past. What we are offering this year is really an evolution of the event, starting with the facility which has been completely reorganized to provide a new way of using the space and viewing the exhibition. Thanks to more than 50 years of experience and careful consideration of all the various participants, the event is more relevant and, we believe, more efficient both in the accommodations and management of time and exposition space.” With these words the organizers of the Boat Show, Sara Armella, president of the Genoa Exhibition, and Anton Francesco Albertoni, president of UCINA introduced the 53rd edition of the event. “The evolution of the exhibit,” they went on to explain, “was directed by tuning into and investigating all of the elements that emerged from different sectors at the end of the last exhibition. UCINA listened to the shipyards, exhibitors and those involved with the event and looked at surveys of the visitors and operators done by Eurisko. This input and much more have lead us to reformulate the Boat Show in order to better respond to the market’s many exigencies with the ultimate objective of maintaining the Genoa Boat Show’s leadership position.”

randi finestrature tagliano le silhouette degli scafi, esplodono le superfici vetrate, quasi a voler contenere quanto più orizzonte possibile nell’affresco di un unico skyline sospeso fra cielo e mare: è il trionfo delle trasparenze, delle vedute panoramiche, della luce che attraversa gli ambienti in un continuum ideale fra interni ed esterni. Sempre più flessibile nel layout, ottimizzata e rivista nelle volumetrie interne, l’imbarcazione del futuro è un habitat permeabile alla natura che lo circonda. Mentre la ripartizione architettonica suggerisce nuove modalità di fruizione, soprattutto nelle aree di poppa, il moltiplicarsi di spazi open air restituisce il diporto al suo primo, vero amore: il piacere di un contatto più intenso e diretto col mare. Evolve in questa direzione il progetto del Wider 150’ firmato da Fulvio De Simoni: un maxi yacht in alluminio, in costruzione presso il nuovo polo produttivo marchigiano, che rispecchia nella pulizia delle linee e nell’armonia estetica la ricerca del giusto equilibrio fra nave e natura, sia dal punto di vista del comfort che dell’impatto ambientale. Tutto a bordo enfatizza la continuità con l’esterno, dagli inediti volumi poppieri, con tanto di piscina interna e ampissima spiaggia, alle enormi vetrate aperte sui ponti. Puntando sulla centralità della vita all’aperto, ma con esiti differenti in termini di layout, l’esplorazione tipologica dello Studio Zuccon International Project prende forma nel concept del 92 metri Syd Discovery. Un progetto giocato sui rapporti volumetrici di pieni e di vuoti, che, in maniera del tutto originale, sposta a prua alcune funzioni tipiche degli esterni (piscina, outdoor living e zona prendisole) per favorire la massima privacy e destinare l’area poppiera del main deck allo stivaggio di toys, tender e simili. Preservare il legame con l’ambiente circostante, anche sulle grandi dimensioni, è il nuovo graal della nautica oversize. Una priorità mai disattesa dal marchio Crn, pioniere dei balcony sospesi sul mare, dei portelloni abbattibili e delle spiaggette a pelo d’acqua: soluzioni che hanno fatto scuola nello yachting di lusso e che trovano oggi una sintesi perfetta nel progetto custom dell’80 metri Chopi Chopi, l’unità più grande costruita dal cantiere anconetano, presente al Salone di Genova quale ospite d’onore. Così come le quattro terrazze apribili sul main deck, che identificano a colpo d’occhio la pluripremiata serie 40 Alloy di Sanlorenzo. Primo a introdurre

a r g e window panes cut through the s i l h o u e t te s of hulls, the glazed surfaces explode as they try to contain as much of the horizon as possible on a canvas, showing the unique skyline suspended between the blue above and below. It is a triumph of transparency, of panoramic views, of light passing through space in an ideal continuum between the interior and exterior. The layout is always more flexible, the interior spaces have been analyzed and optimized, boats of the future are habitats permeated by the environment surrounding them. While the architectural layout suggests new uses of space, reconsidering especially the stern area, the abundance of open air space brings these crafts back to their first, true love: intense, direct contact with the sea. The Wider 150’ project by Fulvio De Simoni has evolved in this direction. It is an aluminum maxiyacht under construction at the new production facility in the Marche region, which reflects clean lines and aesthetic harmony, the search for the right balance between the boat and nature, both from the perspective of comfort and environmental impact. Everything on board emphasizes continuity with the exterior, from the innovative stern volumes, complete with an interior pool and expansive beach area, to the enormous windows which overlook the bridges. Focusing on life outdoors, yet with different options in terms of layout, the typological research by the Studio Zuccon International Project takes

nel 2007, sugli scafi in alluminio da 40 metri, uno degli stilemi più emulati nel mercato del diporto, il brand di Massimo Perotti schiera la flotta al completo sulle banchine del boat show ligure: nove motoryacht, dal più piccolo 62L all’ammiraglia 46 Steel, tutti rigorosamente tailor made, per circa 305 metri complessivi di eccellenza made in Italy. Garantire il contatto visivo tra ambienti attigui, ma soprattutto con il mare, è l’imput progettuale che dà forma anche alle scelte inedite del 55 metri Benetti Ocean Paradise - FB263. Soluzioni di grande personalità, nate dall’attento sviluppo delle altezze negli elementi di architettura interna, combinato all’impiego di materiali trasparenti come il plexiglass e il cristallo. Con un focus predominante sulla luce, sia essa naturale, filtrata dalle ampie aperture sulle murate, o artificiale, a temperatura colore modulata in funzione dell’illuminazione esterna. Ultima frontiera nell’evoluzione del lusso su acqua, il light design diventa la chiave di volta nel creare suggestioni, definire o separare ambienti, valorizzare superfici e texture. A bordo del 44 metri Monokini, che segna il grande ritorno di Baglietto, lo studio attento dell’illuminazione, nascosta nelle cabine e con fonte sempre indiretta, enfatizza la percezione generale di morbidezza, alleggerendo i volumi di un décor chiaramente ispirato alle atmosfere avvolgenti dell’aviation design, e i raffinati accostamenti materici acero sicomoro, acciaio e pelle - combinati in sfumature cromatiche sui

This project plays with the relationship between occupied and free spaces and, in a completely original way, it has shifted some typically external functions (the pool, outdoor living space and sunbathing area) towards the bow, favoring privacy and reserving the stern area of the main deck for stowing toys, tenders and similar items. Preserving the connection to the surrounding environment, even on a large scale, is the new grail of oversized nautical design. This priority has never been disregarded by the CRN brand, a pioneer of terraces suspended over the water, folding hatches and waterline beach areas. These solutions have lead the way in the luxury yachting sector. Today, they are perfectly integrated in the 80-meter custom project, Chopi Chopi the largest construction produced by the Ancona-based shipyard which is a guest of honor at the Genoa Boat Show. Four terraces fold out from the main deck, which make the award-winning 40 Alloy series by San Lorenzo easy to identify in a single glance. First introduced in 2007, with aluminum hulls starting from 40 meters and sporting a style that is emulated throughout the pleasure craft market, Massimo Perotti is displaying the whole fleet along the docks at the Boat Show. This includes nine motor yachts, ranging from the 62L to the flagship 46 Steel, all completely tailor made for a total of nearly 305 meters of ‘Made in Italy’ excellence. The 55-meter Benetti FB263, Ocean Paradise, was designed specifically around the idea of ensuring visual connection between adjacent spaces, and especially with the sea. It features highly unique solutions developed with the careful use of height in the interior architectural elements, combined with the use of transparent materials such as plexiglass and crystal. There is a predominant focus on light: both natural light, filtered from the ample openings in the sides, and artificial, with color and warmth adjusted according to the outdoor lighting. As the final frontier in the evolution of luxury at sea, light design has become the key to creating certain environments, defining or separating spaces, as well as valorizing surfaces and textures. On board the 44-meter Monokini, which marks the great return of Baglietto, a careful study of lighting has resulted in the consistent use of indirect sources that are hidden in cabins, emphasizing the general perception of softness. It lights up the decor which has clear-

O, ancora, la lunghissima superficie vetrata che taglia longitudinalmente, da poppa a estrema prua, la fiancata del Ferretti 960, restituendo interni mai così luminosi e alleggerendo il profilo dell’imbarcazione. Con quasi 30 metri di scafo fuori tutto, contro gli appena 23,98 di lunghezza in costruzione, la nuova ammiraglia Ferreti Yachts, omologata CE, offre livelli di comfort fuori categoria e introduce una nuova concezione della zona poppiera, esclusivamente dedicata alle attività leisure, con un innovativo garage allagabile per il varo e l’alaggio del tender. Un’area ripensata anche a bordo dell’ultimo Pershing 62’, che adotta una soluzione finora presente su modelli di maggiore piedaggio: una plancetta mobile e abbattibile nella parte centrale della spiaggetta permette di movimentare rapidamente il tender nel garage, grazie a un argano che ne agevola la discesa in acqua. La possibilità di scegliere fra layout alternativi, su entrambi i brand del Gruppo Ferretti, consente infine di penetrare mercati differenti, intercettando gusti e stili di vita di una platea oggi sempre più composita.
ly been inspired by a style that envelopes aviation design and displays a refined combination of materials - sycamore maple, steel and leather combined in shades and cream, beige and grey tones. On small to medium-sized boats, it is natural light that trumps through bold solutions like daring floor-to-ceiling windows placed in the dining room of the new Azimut 80, or the five vertical windows on the side of the owner’s cabin creating a pleasant “dive into the blue” affect. Another example is the extremely long glazed surfaces which cut the side of the Ferretti 960 lengthwise, from bow to stern, ensuring brightly illuminated interiors and enhancing the yacht’s profile. With nearly 30 meters of overall length and the 23.98 meters of hull length, the new Ferreti Yachts flagship, which is CE-certified, offers class-leading comfort. It also introduces a new concept for the stern area, which is exclusively reserved for leisure activities, with an innovative flooding garage for launching tenders. This area has also been reexamined aboard the latest Pershing 62’ that features a solution which, up to this point, has been seen only in larger yachts: a folding, mobile platform in the central part of the beach area which makes it possible to quickly move the tender into the garage, thanks to a winch that facilitates placement in water. Primo esemplare della nuova generazione di velieri Perini di 60 m, Seahawk segna un’importante innovazione nelle linee progettuali e nelle tecnologie di bordo. Un ketch più veloce, performante, confortevole e generoso negli spazi all’aperto, progettato in collaborazione con Ron Holland, che vanta una stazza inferiore alle 500 tonnellate e una superficie velica di 2.125 m2 supportata da due alberi in alluminio di 62 e 52 metri di altezza. DESIGN ITALIANO // ITALIAN DESIGN In occasione del 53° Salone Nautico Internazionale di Genova, e nelle due prossime edizioni del 2014 e 2015, UCINA promuove una trilogia di mostre che vedono come protagonista la storia del Mala premessa per la formazione dello Yacht’n Italy Export Museum, il futuro museo della nautica da diporto italiana. La mostra sarà posizionata all’ingresso del percorso fieristico, proprio davanti al “Red Wall”, grande novità della 53° edizione, e le protagoniste saranno 10 barche selezionate tra i capolavori del primo periodo della nautica da diporto italiana, ognuna delle quali con le proprie caratteristiche e innovazioni formali e tecnologiche ha contribuito a costruire il ricco mosaico di esperienze che oltreoceano chiamano Mediterranean Style. // Starting with with the 53rd International Boat Show in Genoa, and for the next two editions (2014 and 2015) UCINA promotes a trilogy of exhibitions which focus on the Mala which is at the origin of the formation of the future Yacht'n Italy Export Museum, a museum which will be entirely dedicated to Italian pleasure boating. The exhibition will be placed at the entrance of the exhibition route, just in front of the new "Red Wall", and the stars of the show will be 10 selected crafts representing the first period of Italian leisure yachting. Innovativa è anche la copertura, circa 10.000 mq di Cover Up, un materiale brevettato completamente riciclato e riciclabile che conferma l’attenzione degli organizzatori all’ambiente. // 10,000 square meters of red welcome visitors of the 53rd International Boat Show. This new structure is a symbol of the renewed Exhibition and dominates the entrance of the fair presenting to the incoming visitors a rundown of all previous editions therefore reminding them of the long history of the event.450 meters long and 11 high, 11,000 meters of pipe and about 120 tons of counterweights ensure the stability of this structure.Also new the 10,000 square meters of cover, with a new patented material called Cover Up, recycled and recyclable, which confirms the organizers' attention to the environment.

lla fine del 1800 il governo norvegese incaricò l'ammiraglio Richard With di realizzare mappe dettagliate delle coste norvegesi a nord di Trondheim, caratterizzate da migliaia di scogli, isole, fiordi e stretti canali. Lo scopo era di individuare una rotta marittima sicura che collegasse il sud e il nord del paese e permettesse così di sviluppare il commercio del pesce, allora come oggi una delle principali risorse per l'economia locale. Ultimato il lavoro di mappatura, l'ammiraglio salpò il 2 luglio 1893 a bordo della MS Vesterålen per navigare da Trondheim a Hammerfest seguendo la “hurtig-ruten”, la “rotta veloce” da lui tracciata, grazie alla quale arrivò a destinazione in sole 67 ore. Da allora venne istituito il servizio di linea, poi ampliato per includere anche Bergen, nella regione dei fiordi a sud e Kirkenes, nell'estremo nord al confine con la Russia. Il servizio di trasporto di persone e merci viene operato tutto l'anno grazie alla Corrente del Golfo che impedisce la formazione di ghiaccio lungo la costa atlantica della Norvegia. L'evoluzione continua da oltre cent'anni e oggi Hurtigruten è una delle compagnie marittime più importanti al mondo, opera con undici navi lungo la costa norvegese; propone affascinanti crociere esplorative alla scoperta delle isole Svalbard, Groenlandia e Antartide.

Infatti, da oltre 100 anni, il Battello Postale rappresenta per la Norvegia il
t the end of the 19th century, the Norwegian government commissioned Admiral Richard With to create detailed maps of the Norwegian coast north of Trondheim. This area is characterized by thousands of reefs, islands, fjords and narrow channels. The objective was to identify a safe sea route that would link the northern and southern parts of the country and allow development of the fishing trade which, then as now, was one of the main resources for the local economy. Upon completion of this mapping expedition, on July 2, 1893, the admiral sailed aboard the MS Vesterålen from Trondheim to Hammerfest, along the “hurtig-ruten” or “fast route” that he traced. With this route, he was able to complete the journey in just 67 hours. Since then the route was expanded to include Bergen, in the southern region of fjords and Kirkenes, and to the border with Russia in the far north. There is year-round transportation services for people and goods thanks to the Gulf Stream which prevents the formation of ice along Norway’s Atlantic coast. The evolution continued for over 100 years and today Hurtigruten is one of the major maritime companies operating 11 ships along the Norwegian coast and offering fascinating discovery cruises to the islands of Svalbard, Groenlandia and Antartide.
Today, the 11 ships in the Hurtigruten fleet cut through Norway’s Atlantic waters connecting Bergen every day of the year, between the fjords on the southern coast and Kirkenes, and to the border with Russia in the far north. This includes 34 ports in a week: the spectacular fjord region, large cities like Trondheim and Tromsø, small coastal towns, the picturesque Lofoten islands with steep mountains that plunge into the ocean, the Cape North Massif, the northernmost point of the European continent and mythical destination for all types of travelers. Then there is the Arctic Circle route, within which lies an area characterized by extraordinary phenomena like the midnight sun in the summer and the Northern Lights in the winter months. Some believe that, if it were not for the Gulf Stream and for Hurtigruten, the Norwegian coast would be uninhabited, and this is probably true. I villaggi di pescatori, le fattorie e le piccole comunità costiere mantengono ancora intatte le proprie caratteristiche originarie; altri centri hanno invece conosciuto un notevole sviluppo fino a diventare importanti città commerciali. In alcuni porti il tempo di sosta è limitato, in altri la sosta è più lunga, con tempo a disposizione per una visita individuale o per partecipare alle escursioni a terra organizzate dallo staff di bordo. Il cielo è terso, l'aria si fa più cristallina e le prospettive diventano infinite; le giornate sembrano non avere mai termine ed è quanto mai difficile separarsi, anche solo per poche ore, da questo affascinante scenario naturale. La magia dell'aurora boreale e l'atmosfera cangiante dell'inverno rendono la navigazione ancor più suggestiva. Le comunità costiere brulicano di vita, le luci del nord sembrano rincorrersi nel buio della notte artica, mentre i fari indicano la rotta fra le mille isole disseminate lungo la costa. Le tavole imbandite e i profumi del ristorante di bordo trasmettono calore e ospitalità. Proprio in questa stagione la navigazione costiera è in grado di offrire sensazioni indimenticabili, insieme a una tranquillità e un silenzio veramente irreali. The Norwegian Light, Every Photographer’s Dream In the spring and summer, beyond the line of the Arctic Circle, the luminous arctic night shows all its splendor in the spectacle performed by the midnight sun. The coastal villages, islands and mountain ranges are bathed in warm, fiery light. The sky is clear, the air becomes crystalline and the possibilities are limitless; it seems that the days have no end and it is difficult to leave, even for just a few hours, the fascinating natural scenery. The magic of the Northern Lights and the ever-changing winter atmosphere make cruising even more alluring. Seaside communities bustle with life, the lights in the sky seem to chase darkness from the Arctic night, while lighthouses indicate the way from thousands of islands scattered along the coast. The dining tables and smells coming from the restaurants on board transmit warmth and hospitality. In this season, coastal cruising is capable of offering unforgettable sensations, along with unbelievable peace and quiet. All of this unfolds right in front of your eyes as you are comfortably seated on the decks or the cozy panoramic lounges of the ship. The phenomenon of the Northern Lights, or “Aurora Borealis”, occurs when electrical particles produced by the sun meet the Earth’s upper atmosphere, generating trails of phosphorescent light that illuminate the sky and change form, intensity and color: green, blue, violet and red.
