INTEGRATION
Profile Overview: Schneider Electric
An active player in energy “As a specialist in efficiency technologies, Schneider Electric has been an active contributor to the debates over the world energy challenge and climate change,” says Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman & CEO. “The world of energy is under important pressure and undergoing large transitions. Energy prices, commercial unbalance due to energy imports, energy availability, climate change, and pollution in large cities are many challenges demanding a different energy paradigm. The convergence of IT and energy technologies, and the new affordability of renewable energy open the door to a new world, a world where energy is saved systematically, produced closer to consumption, and where the environment is connected and accessible,” says Tricoire. “Users, managers, and utilities will work together to save more and share better energy, and integrate a more intelligent energy for more intelligent and efficient cities. It is time for everyone to become an active player in energy, by saving, producing, and consuming energy in the same place.

Spotlight on Value Creation
Invensys Software: Growing Stronger with InduSoft Invensys and InduSoft join forces to deliver unique, exceptional value to industrial automation customers worldwide. Devices are becoming increasingly intelligent. Major players such as Microsoft, Google and Apple are investing heavily in devices and cloud services, and it is expected that this trend will eventually penetrate the industrial market on a grand scale. For instance, the Intelligent Embedded Devices segment is seeing rapid growth, characterized by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) embedding software and computer hardware into their final product. To capitalize on these shifts in the software market and continue delivering enhanced value to customers, Invensys Software decided to explore the embedded intelligent device and embedded HMI segments. In so doing, Invensys sought out the best partner to create the most comprehensive portfolio of software tools for HMI and industrial automation on the market. That partner would be InduSoft. InduSoft: Leader in Embedded HMI and Intelligent Embedded Devices InduSoft has been the leader in developing a robust, fully-featured platform for embedded HMIs and intelligent embedded devices for over a decade. The company’s reputable software interfaces with industrial devices, such as machines, controllers and computers, for industrial computer OEMs, as well as machine and system builder usage. By virtue of its horizontal, versatile multi-industry technology, InduSoft maintains a strong position and growing influence on the high-volume, low-end embedded market. Furthermore, the company has a wide range of industrial computer partners offering competitive solutions.

Over and above its award-winning technology and partner ecosystem, InduSoft is led by a talented team of leaders with a proven record of execution, as well as dedicated experts in visualization and industrial systems. This high-energy culture is comparable to that of Invensys, forging an ideal alliance. A Natural Extension… InduSoft is a natural extension to the Invensys software portfolio. In addition to similar cultures, talent and thought leadership, Invensys Wonderware and InduSoft offerings complement one another, thereby collectively enhancing the value of our overall portfolio. The partnership enables Invensys to focus on building software for its traditional HMI, Supervisory, Geo-SCADA, Historian and Manufacturing Operations Management segments while utilizing InduSoft software for intelligent embedded devices; in parallel, InduSoft is able to focus on building software for intelligent embedded devices and expand its capabilities in this segment while leveraging Invensys’ global resources and cutting-edge technology. Investing in Value Creation Synonymous with Invensys’ vision of becoming the leader in industrial software and plans for continued inorganic growth, the alliance will extend our solutions capabilities, thereby providing customers with

a full range of easily-accessible, state-ofthe-art offerings. “The acquisition of InduSoft represents the continuing execution of our strategy to strengthen our portfolio through inorganic means, enabling us to target additional segments across our portfolio,” says Ravi Gopinath, President, Software Business. “InduSoft strengthens and broadens our leading software solutions portfolio, particularly in the embedded HMI segment, and provides a continuing driver for growth…” By joining forces with InduSoft, Invensys’ software portfolio currently ranges from high-volume embedded devices, to Cloud services, manufacturing operations, asset management and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration. Customers can choose to start with machine level, line, plant, site and enterprise-wide HMI and visualization solutions, and scale in either direction, up or down in size and functionality using InduSoft and Wonderware software. Bringing both the plant-wide and intelligent embedded solutions together is especially important for machine builders and OEMs who want to offer their customers both a stable HMI, and the capability to integrate their machines into the broader network of the plant’s management systems.
