Tour de Blesso: Family Fun Cycle @ Blessington Lakes When: September 26 Time: 2.00pm – 5.00pm Meet the challenge of the Tour de Blesso 6k family fun cycle. Frank Browne: A Life Through the Lens When: August 10 – October 17 Where: dlr Lexlcon, Dun Laoghaire Time: Library Opening Hours Cost: Free Born in Cork, Frank Browne (1880 - 1960) was both a distinguished Jesuit and an accomplished photographer. At the age of seventeen, before commencing his studies for the priesthood, he embarked on a tour of Europe armed with a camera. Browne quickly discovered a

Get on your running and walking shoes for Challenge 2015 Runners and walkers have once again the opportunity to face the sporting challenge of a lifetime when the now annual Tinahely Challenge in aid of Pieta House.
This year’s challenge, organised by Tinahely Community Projects with generous local community support, promises to be a bigger and better event featuring a 32 kilometre run, a 30 kilometre walk for the battle-hardy participant or a leisurely 15 kilometre walk for the less experienced participant. Running competitors can also run the course solo or as part of a 3 person relay team. Building on the success of last year’s event, which raised a fantastic €7000 for Pieta House, the community of Tinahely would like to see not only all last year’s Challengers return to the Tinahely Hills, but hopefully lots of new faces – and legs – as well! Tours of the exhibition will be held at 12 noon on the 22nd of August, the 5th and the 19th of September and the 2nd of October. These tours will last 40 minutes and there is no booking required. Also, there is a talk on the exhibition, given by David and Edwin Davison, authors of Frank Browne: A Life Through the Lens. David and Edwin Davison are photographers living in Dublin. They have been responsible for the conservation and cataloguing of Father Browne’s original negatives.

STAGE 1: RUN (LESS THAN 10KM!)
The first run begins at the bike transition (bike drop) at the Upper Dam on the Upper Reservoir. It then continues south along the path to Waters Bridge. It then joins the path around the Lower Reservoir making its way in a loop back to Waters Bridge and back to the Upper Reservoir where the kayaking will take place. The lakeside paths (the majority of the run) are flanked by trees and the terrain consists of woodland trails but they are rough in places and watch out for brambles. The run is quite flat and very pretty with fantastic views across the water in all directions.
STAGE 2: KAYAK (0.5KM)
The kayaks will be 2 person sit-on-tops so grab a partner (the next competitor to you if racing alone) and take to the water. You will kayak approximately 0.5km in a looped course in the Upper Reservoir.
STAGE 3: CYCLE (14KM)
The cycle follows the roads outside the reservoir. It starts with a short stretch on the R765 before turning right along the east side of the
lower reservoir. It then joins the R764, turning right at Ballyduff cross roads. Two more right turns bring the route back to Roundwood and into the final bike drop at the Roundwood AFC. The cycle is mostly along quiet country roads and has a slight elevation. For information on what bike to use read our FAQ section.
STAGE 4: RUN (0.25KM) Competitors will run the last short stretch from the bike drop to the finish line in Roundwood AFC.

In Cops Buster Keaton causes mayhem and gets pursued by the city’s entire police force. For Heaven’s Sake is the tale of an uptown young man (Harold Lloyd) who falls in love with a downtown girl (Jobyna Ralston). National Archery Festival Sat 19th Sep 2015 until 20th Sep 2015 The highlight of the festival is the All Ireland Series Final which is the culmination of a six event series held across Ireland. The country’s top archers compete in “head to head” knockout matches for a place in the final competition pitching top archer against top archer. The qualifying weekends are held between April and September and include archers from all over Ireland and abroad, in excess of one hundred and fifty competitors participate in the competition across all ages and bow styles. The National Archery Festival also features archery stalls and workshops where you can learn about the sport, purchase equipment and get advice from archery professionals. A fun, informative and entertaining weekend is guaranteed at the festival. This festival is in partnership with Archery Ireland. No booking is required. Normal garden entrance applies. There is a €2 fee to compete in the ‘Have a go’ competition.

Chicken Breast with Fennel and Rocket Salad Ingredients: • 4 chicken breasts, skin on • Juice of 1 lemon • 1 tablesp. olive oil • Salt and black pepper Fennel Salad: • 2 fennel bulbs, sliced thinly as possible • 2 tablesp. olive oil • Juice of 1 lemon • 1 tablesp. good quality mustard • Handful rocket leaves per person
To Cook: An hour or two ahead if possible place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish. Pour over the lemon juice, olive oil and seasoning.Prepare the salad – put the sliced fennel in a large bowl, in another small bowl mix the olive oil, lemon juice
and mustard together, taste for seasoning. Mix the fennel and dressing together – set aside. Seal the chicken breasts on a hot pan until well browned. Then finish cooking in the oven for 10-15 minutes.
Serving Suggestions: Slice the chicken, serve with a mound of the salad and the rocket leaves on top. Drizzle with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar and a little black pepper.

Serves 4-Cooking time: 30 minutes Ingredients: • 4 hake fillets, approx. 175g each, skinned and boned • 25g butter, melted • 75g of stale breadcrumbs • 15g finely grated cheese • 1 tablesp. chopped parsley leaves • 40g plain flour • 1 egg, lightly beaten • Salt and freshly ground black pepper Yogurt Tartar Sauce: • 150g Greek style yogurt • 1 teasp. Delicious Burgers with Melted Cheese and Tomato Salsa Three secrets to making the best burgers – top quality mince, the onions sautéed until golden brown and cooked ahead of time and a good splash of chilli oil in the mixture. Ingredients: • 450g lean minced beef or lamb • 1 large onion, finely chopped, sautéed in oil until golden and cooled • 1 tablesp. scallions, chopped • 1 tablesp. chilli oil, optional but nice (see recipe) • Salt and black pepper

Tomato Salsa: • 16 approx. cherry tomatoes, chopped • 1-2 red onions, finely chopped • Handful chopped coriander • 1 tablesp. chilli oil • Lemon juice to taste • Salt and black pepper

Line a large baking tray with parchment paper. Brush a little of the melted butter over the parchment paper. Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish with the grated cheese and parsley. Place the flour and egg in separate shallow dishes. Season the hake with a little salt and black pepper. Dip the hake, one piece at a time, into the flour, shake off the excess, then dip into the egg and finally into the breadcrumb mixture. Place on the baking tray. Brush the remaining melted butter over the top and sides of the fish. Place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until cooked through. Meanwhile make the Yogurt Tartar Sauce: Place yogurt, mustard, capers, gherkin, parsley, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Mix well to combine.e Serving Suggestions: Serve the sauce with the crispy hake, tender stem broccoli and sautéed potatoes.
To Cook: Mix the mince, onion, scallions, chilli oil and seasoning well together. With wet hands shape into 4 burgers. Flatten each one down with the palm of your hand until you have a nice even shape. This way they will cook more quickly and evenly. Keep in the fridge until ready to cook. Grill, barbecue or cook on a black ridge pan, until fully cooked, approximately 4-5 minutes on each side. Meanwhile mix all the salsa ingredients together. Then place a spoonful of salsa on top of each burger and top with a slice of cheese. Grill, or cover the barbecue or pan and continue to cook for another minute until the cheese has melted. Serve on a bap with some salad leaves and the remaining salsa.
Pork Pitta Pockets Another high speed recipe idea for a busy lifestyle – ready in 10 minutes. Ingredients: • 450g lean pork, cut into thin strips • 2 peppers, deseeded and sliced Spicy Marinade: • 1 tablesp. • Curry paste , 1 tablesp. • Oil • Salt and black pepper Spicy Marinade: • 1 tablesp. • Curry paste, 1 tablesp. To Serve: • Mixed salad leaves • Olive oil and lemon juice • 4 pitta bread, toasted • Greek-style yoghurt or mayonnaise (optional) • Pinch salt To Cook: Mix the curry paste, oil and seasoning. Pour it over the pork and mix well. Cook for 5-6 minutes in a hot pan. Then add the peppers and cook for another minute or two. Toss the lettuce leaves in some olive oil and lemon juice. Pile into the pitta bread. Top with pork strips and peppers. Serving Suggestions: Serve with some Greek style yoghurt or mayonnaise (optional).

JFP is all a flutter with changes in the air, their head chef moved on after many happy years and the sous chef rose to the challenge, Aykan Arslan has already been with the pub for seven years and has now taken up the mantle of head chef, JFP are very impressed with his plans for changes and menu upgrades in and around September. The new staff uniforms and training managers are also seeing some changes in service, whilst others are cutting back still on service JF are turning the tables so to speak, are putting extra staff on busy shifts so that they are not just “coping” with the volume of people but still maintaining friendly greetings and service. The family who own and operate the pub are proud that the staff have been with them for so many years but believe new fresh staff are also a must to keep a vibrancy as well as the traditional style service. The bar also has some changes, possibly the most interesting being the true Irish craft beers (on draught also) and wide range of craft whiskey’s with taster platters for both so that you and your guests get a real “taste” of true Ireland. Pop along and try the Teelings Whiskey or a pint of Galway Hooker, neither will fail to tingle the taste buds.

Your Twice a Day Routine:
Eye Care – If wearing mascara, eye
liner or eye shadows, remove this first. The skin on your eye area is a thin layer of skin and a delicate touch is needed when removing any eye makeup do not scrub. Add a little ‘eye
make-up’ remover to a cotton pad, hold on the eye for a few seconds to give the remover a chance to grab onto the make-up, then softly swipe inwards until removed. If your remover stings or irritates your eyes this is not the remover for you, your eyes are too sensitive for it. Try another or rub a little Vaseline on your lashes, lids and eyebrows, gentle rubbing to loosen your make-up then softly wipe with a cotton pad or tissue. Wash your Face – Twice daily, this will take away any sweat and oil that has built up over the night or remove any dirt and traces of BB creams or make-up you used during the day. Start with washing your hands, then pump some of your cleanser onto wet palms, gently massage the cleanser all over your face avoiding your eye area, rinse thoroughly then finish by patting your face dry with a clean towel. Moisturize – It is always important to keep your skin moisturized and just as important to match your moisturizer to your skins type (– Normal, Dry, Oily or Combination). Allow your moisturizer to settle for a few minutes before applying your BB cream or make-up.

The famous partypoker.com World Grand Prix tournament, which sees players need to both begin and end every leg with a double, will be held at Dublin's Citywest Hotel Convention Centre in October. The 32-player event begins with the first round being staged on Sunday October 4 and Monday October 5, with eight games being held per session. The second round is then played across Tuesday October 6 and Wednesday October 7, with the quarterfinals being played on Thursday October 8. Friday October 9 sees the two semi-finals take place before the tournament concludes Saturday October 10 with the final, which will be preceded by Ireland’s biggest domestic final, the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay. The double-start event was won in 2014 by Michael van Gerwen, who retained the title, while history was made as James Wade and Robert Thornton both hit nine-dart
finishes in the same game – a first in the double-start format!

Anthony Joshua won’t be anything new for Gary Cornish, says the unbeaten Scottish heavyweight. Gary Cornish does not believe the power of Anthony Joshua will be anything out of the ordinary, having sparred other top heavyweights. The unbeaten Scot will bid to beat Joshua to the Commonwealth title at London’s O2 Arena on September 12th and is unfazed by Joshua’s reputation, despite his record of 13 knockouts inside three rounds in his first 13 professional fights. Cornish (21-0-KO12), who has stopped four of his last five opponents inside four, said: “I’ve not really been hurt before. I’ve been down but they were flash knockdowns. “I’ve sparred top heavyweights, world class. Proper sparring and going to war. Guys like Tyson Fury and Kubrat Pulev taking it to me – so I’ve felt power, I don’t think Anthony Joshua will be a different experience.
