I hope the New Year, 2025, is off to a great start for each of you. On behalf of the Eastern Region, please allow me to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day! February 14th is often seen as a day to express love and affection towards those we hold dear. It has roots in ancient Roman and early Christian traditions, blending historical and cultural significance with a modern celebration of romantic, familial, and platonic love. This day serves as a reminder to pause and appreciate the important relationships in our lives, to acknowledge the kindness, support, and shared moments of joy that shape our connections with others. It’s a day to celebrate the love that binds us all together, whether through grand gestures or simple acts of kindness.
The Future is What we Create
As we look ahead, many are concerned about what the future holds. We cannot allow trepidation and fear to overcome our zest for life and for love In a world that can often feel divided, taking a moment to recognize the humanity and compassion in others is a powerful act. Love, in its many forms, is the foundation of a better society – it promotes understanding, tolerance, and unity. In many ways, these are the sisterly foundational principles of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. Beginning in February, during the month of Valentine, let us all commit to be even more sisterly; to reach out and share our love for mankind, and more importantly, our love for each other. The poet Rumi profoundly said, “Love is the bridge between you and everything”.This quote beautifully encapsulates the transformative power of love, bridging gaps and bringing people closer together.
Upcoming Events in 2025
In the Eastern Region, we are preparing for our upcoming regional conference which will be held April 24 – 27, 2025 in beautiful colonial Williamsburg Our theme for this year is Shaping the Future with Purpose & Precision More than ever, we need to be “purposeful & intentional” in all that we do in Iota Land. This entails reminding ourselves and others that we are a people of different shades of color, intelligent, bold and never afraid to “create new paths in unchartered territories”. Yes, 2025 is a year to be precise in our purpose.
Our National Convention is also right around the corner. It will be held from July 28 – August 3, 2025. I am looking forward to

Dear Sorors,
As we embrace the month of February, we celebrate the rich legacy of Black History Month, honoring the resilience, achievements, and contributions of African Americans throughout history. Our commitment to Business and Professional Excellence aligns with this legacy as we continue to uplift and empower women in business and entrepreneurship.
February is also Heart Health Month, reminding us to prioritize our well-being. Heart disease remains a leading health concern, especially for Black women, and I encourage you to take proactive steps in self-care and wellness. Let’s use this time to support one another in maintaining a healthy lifestyle—both physically and mentally. This month also brings two meaningful celebrations:
Valentine’s Day – A time to express love and appreciation for our family, friends, and Sorors who uplift and support us. Let’s take a moment to celebrate the power of sisterhood and friendship.
Presidents' Day – A moment to reflect on leadership and the contributions of those who have shaped our nation. As business and professional women, we continue to be leaders in our communities and beyond.
As we prepare for our upcoming National Convention, I encourage you to share your ideas, stories, and content for our newsletters. Your voice matters, and I am committed to ensuring that your contributions are featured in our publications. Please send your submissions to Natl_journalist@iota1929.org.
