VELCORIN® A PROVEN TECHNOLOGY Every day the variety of globally available beverages is increasing all over the world. In Thailand alone around 1,500 new beverages have been introduced to consumers over the past 3 years. This innovative environment represents an attractive opportunity for beverage producers to extend their portfolios. However, innovations not only put financial pressure on product development teams, but also increase the risk of microbiologically challenges on existing plant set ups, due to increasing complexity and flexibility.
Velcorin® technology can be applied in combination with all bottling systems designed for glass/PET/HDPE bottles, for cardboard packaging, cans, KEG, and Bag-In-Box. In addition, Velcorin® as such does not affect the sensory attributes of the beverage, like taste, colour and aroma.

Microbiological stability is a challenge for every bottling plant and there can be no compromise. Even equipment and well built installations from a hygienic standpoint with appropriate cleaning and disinfection processes can be prone to secondary contaminations during bottling operation. Contamination during this sensitive phase of the production process remains likely, especially using conventional bottling technology.
From a technical perspective, the key advantage lies in the simple installation of the dosing unit in new or existing bottling plants, with filling capacities between 600 and 79,200 l/h. The only equipment required is a Velcorin® DT Touch unit, which is about the size of a beverage vending machine.
In order to minimise this risk, beverage manufacturers from all over the world place their trust in Velcorin®, the cold sterilisation technology. Velcorin® (Dimethyldicarbonate) is added to the beverage in line, prior to bottling. Even at low concentration it is highly effective against typical beverage spoiling microorganisms, such as yeasts, bacteria and molds. It penetrates into the cell and deactivates enzymes on which the cell’s metabolism depends. This causes the cell to die. In parallel Velcorin® hydrolyses in contact with water. Therefore, after a certain time but latest after 8 hours it is not present in the beverage any more.

The new VEGABAR compact pressure sensors with switch function and VEGAPOINT capacitive level switches are perfectly tailored to standard applications. One special feature is the 360° status display, which can be set to any one of 256 differentcolours and easily seen from any direction.
There is a lot of sensor intelligence built right into the new compact series: the standard IO-Link protocol ensures both a universal and particularly simple system of communication. This means that the instruments have a standardized communication platform that enables seamless data transfer and simple system integration. Everything’s easier with wireless operation The new VEGABAR and VEGAPOINT instrument series can be easily read out and configured with a smartphone or tablet. Device setup and operation become considerably easier, especially in environments such as clean rooms, where physical access involves a lot of effort.
