International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation Pan American Regional Office 2nd Call for Pan American Regional Office Positions PARO Subcommittees The IPSF Pan American Regional Office (IPSF PARO) is calling interested pharmacy students and recent graduates from member organisations to join the Federation as PARO subcommittee members. Subcommittees are vital in assisting in developing and implementing projects for member organisations across the region throughout the year. For all positions, you must be able to work throughout the year and have regular internet access. You must be reachable throughout your entire term, until October 2022. All the positions are invited to attend the 67th IPSF World Congress, 15th IPSF Pan American Regional Symposium, and your subcommittee face-to-face meeting, if one is scheduled. However, attending these events is not obligatory. If you are interested in a particular position listed here, please fill out the appropriate Google Form by the deadline stated in the form. The link to the Form can be found also on our Facebook page, at facebook.com/IPSFparo or by contacting your organisation’s IPSF Contact Person. The period for submitting nominations will be from September 27th to October 10th 2021 23:59 GMT-6.


IPSF PARO Subcommittees and Sub-coordinators All the following positions are appointed by the IPSF PARO Regional Working Group prior to October 1st. As most subcommittee work will be completed online, all subcommittee members are required to have regular internet access for communication (Facebook, WhatsApp, Zoom, Google Drive, among others) and email. Secretary Portfolio Secretary Subcommittee Positions available: Two (2) Description of the position: The Secretary Subcommittee is chaired by the PARO Secretary, and the main responsibilities are providing support to the Regional Office, such as assisting with taking minutes during each meeting of the RWG, Regional Assembly and other subcommittee meetings. Besides, the Subcommittee will work with the PARO Secretary in investigations related to the modification of the IPSF Official Documents or any other tasks indicated by the PARO Secretary. This Subcommittee is a good opportunity to learn about the Secretary portfolio, the IPSF Official Documents and official procedures. This Subcommittee is ideal for individuals who: ● Have knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO or wish to acquire such knowledge. ● Are interested in learning about parliamentary procedures, the PARO Regional Assembly and the implementation of the IPSF Official Documents. ● Believe they are good with documentation and writing meeting minutes. ● Have a good level of English or want to improve their grammar and spelling skills in English. Tasks of the Secretary Subcommittee include the following: ● Assisting in taking minutes during RWG meetings or developing minutes from a recording,


● Assisting in finalizing RWG meeting minutes and Regional Assembly minutes, ● Assisting the Secretary in maintaining adequate documentation of the region, ● Assisting RWG members with any meetings that require minuting, ● Supporting PARO Secretary on the Constitutional working committee investigations.

Quality Control Subcoordinators Positions available: Two (2) Description of the position: The Quality Control Subcoordinators will work jointly with the PARO Secretary to secure the quality of all documentation of the Regional Office and provide support with the proofreading of documents such as: Calls related to the Regional Office, RWG meeting minutes, Regional Assembly minutes and other documentation. This position will also support and oversee the work of the Secretary Subcommittee. This Subcoordinator position is a good opportunity to learn about the Secretary portfolio, the IPSF Official Documents and official procedures. This Subcoordinator position is ideal for individuals who: ● Have knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO or wish to acquire such knowledge, ● Have good English and Spanish grammatical skills, ● Are interested in learning about parliamentary procedures, the PARO regional assembly and the implementation of the IPSF Official Documents, ● Have a level of English or want to improve their grammar and spelling skills in English. Tasks of the Quality Control Subcoordinator include the following: ● Assisting RWG members with the proofreading of important documentation of the Regional Office, ● Proofreading the monthly RWG meeting minutes, ● Proofreading the Regional Assembly minutes,


● Supporting the secretary subcommittee members, ● Supporting PARO secretary in the Constitutional Working Committee investigations.

Regional Media and Publications Portfolio Translations and Communications Subcommittee Positions available: Six (6) Description of the position: This Subcommittee is chaired by the Regional Media and Publications Officer. The main responsibility of this Subcommittee is to provide written (and verbal, if needed) translation for the Regional Office’s complete range of publications in order to reach a maximum number of students across the region and to increase IPSF awareness to non-native English speaking individuals and organisations. Due to the multilingualism prevalent in our region, the work of the Translations and Communications Subcommittee is essential. Subcommittee members could also be requested to assist in editorial work for the Regional Office. The appointed individuals will be divided into 3 teams with 3 members each, including translations English-Spanish, English-French and English-Portuguese, although not restricted to these. The workload will be evenly distributed. For this reason, multilingual individuals will be highly appreciated in this Subcommittee. This Subcommittee is ideal for individuals who: ● Have knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO or wish to acquire such knowledge, ● Are motivated in getting involved within IPSF PARO, especially as a first involvement activity, ● Are organised, analytical, and punctual, ● Are fluent or have an intermediate level of French, Portuguese, Spanish or English (being at least bilingual). Tasks of the Translations and Communications Subcommittee include the following: ● Translating public health campaigns, to be published on social media,


● Reviewing and providing suggestions to previously translated text that will be published on Facebook, ● Participating in online meetings with individuals from across the Americas and interpreting (translating verbally), ● Proofreading function to be done as part of the job to increase the accuracy of the translations. Media and Publications Subcommittee Positions available: Three (3) Description of the position: This Subcommittee is chaired by the Regional Media and Publications Officer. The main objective of this Subcommittee is to assist in the development of all media and promotional material used for public health campaigns, official announcements, event promotions, and more. Creativity is an essential quality for these subcommittee members who are responsible for the publications of the Regional Office. Subcommittee members will also assist in reviewing published material if required. This Subcommittee is ideal for individuals who: ● Have fair knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO or wish to acquire such knowledge, ● Are motivated in getting involved within IPSF PARO, especially as a first involvement activity, ● Have an eye for detail, are creative and punctual, ● Have the motivation to learn graphic editing programs such as Canva, Piktochart, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Prezi, Powerpoint, Microsoft Word, etc. Previously acquired skills in using these programs are preferred, but not required, ● Have the motivation to learn website management skills, such as Wordpress. Previously acquired skills in managing websites are preferred, but not required, ● Have the motivation to learn about social media marketing with different sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the official IPSF PARO website. Previously acquired skills in managing social media effectively are preferred, but not required, ● Have video editing skills (prefered but not required).


Tasks of the Media and Publications Subcommittee include: ● Assisting in creating multimedia for the Regional Office, such as newsletters, posters, videos, etc, ● Innovating new methods of promotions to educate and reach out to existing and potential member organisations through a variety of means (Prezi presentations, booklets, etc), ● Reviewing and editing materials for clarity that are to be published on social media, in the newsletter or other publications.

Regional Relations Officer Portfolio Regional Relations Subcommittee Positions available: Two (2) Description of the position: This Subcommittee is chaired by the Regional Relations Officer. The IPSF PARO Regional Relations Subcommittee mainly works to establish contact and secure communication with potential member organisations across the region in order to promote IPSF and its activities. Furthermore, Regional Relations Subcommittee members are in charge of seeking external sponsors and partners. The Subcommittee requires motivated individuals who will take the initiative of spreading the IPSF spirit. Subcommittee members could also be requested to connect and maintain contact with existing IPSF PARO member organisations. This Subcommittee is ideal for individuals who: ● Have fair knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO or wish to acquire such knowledge, ● Are motivated in getting involved within IPSF PARO, especially as a first involvement activity, ● Are effective communicators, investigative, and punctual, ● Being multilingual in French, Portuguese and/or Spanish fluently is preferred, but not required. Tasks of the Regional Relations Subcommittee include:


● Researching the pharmacy schools across the region and their respective pharmacy student organisations, ● Participating in meetings with potential members to inform them about the structure and activities of IPSF, ● Communicating with pharmacy students and recent graduates from across the region through social media or other means to promote IPSF. Internal Affairs Subcoordinator Positions available: Two (2) Description of the position: The Subcoordinator falls under the PARO Regional Relations Officer portfolio and is responsible for internal relations. Together with the PARO RRO, the Internal Affairs Subcoordinators assist with the development of representative organisations and work closely with the PARO Contact Persons, and regional relations subcommittee regarding the plans and progress of their work. This position is ideal for individuals who: ● Have fair knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO or wish to acquire such knowledge, ● Understand how IPSF works, ● Have good communication skills, ● Effectively teamwork Tasks of the Internal Affairs Subcoordinator include the following: ● Overseeing the activity of PARO CṔs ● Organizing IPSF Training for PARO CṔs ● Coordinating the evaluation and criteria for Best CP of the month, PARO best CP and Carlos Juarez Award. External Affairs Subcoordinator Positions available: One (1) Description of the position: The Subcoordinator falls under the PARO Regional Relations Officer and is responsible for external relations together with PARO RRO. The aim of the


position is to work with the RRO and PARO Chairperson to assist with external collaborations in various projects. ; This position is ideal for individuals who: ● Have fair knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO or wish to acquire such knowledge, ● Understand how IPSF works, ● Have good communication skills, ● Can work in a team, ● Know how to search for and approach sponsors and partners, ● Know how to promote IPSF. Tasks of the external affairs subcoordinator include the following: ● Looking for potential partners and sponsors for PARO, ● Working with the PARO Chairperson to establish communication between PARO external partners and PARO RWG, ● Keeping an updated list of PARO partners and sponsors. Regional Projects Officer Portfolio Regional Projects Subcommittee Positions available: Three (3) Description of the position: This Subcommittee is chaired by the Regional Projects Officer and encompasses various IPSF portfolios, notably Public Health, Professional Development, and Pharmacy Education. The main focus of this Subcommittee is to collaborate on and develop projects and content related to the various portfolios for the Regional Office, as well as provide assistance regarding these portfolios to member organisations. This Subcommittee is ideal for individuals who: ● Have fair knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO or wish to acquire such knowledge, ● Are motivated in getting involved within IPSF PARO, especially as a first involvement activity, ● Are innovative, resourceful, and punctual,


Have a particular interest in public health and humanitarian issues, professional development, the promotion of the pharmaceutical profession, and/or pharmacy education.

Currently, there are four portfolio areas positions in this subcommittee, which are: ● Humanitarian (Vampire Cup, Refugee Campaign and more), ● Public Health (Diabetes Mellitus, Healthy Living, and more) closely related to the WHO Calendar, ● Professional Development (Compounding event (CE), Clinical skills event (CSE), Patient counseling event (PCE), Industrial skills event (ISE), Trainers development camp (TDC), Leaders in Training (LIT) and more), ● Pharmacy Education (Webinars, Internships, Pharmacy Practice Initiatives, Young Researchers’ Forum). Professional Development Subcommittee: (Three Positions) Description of the position: The Professional Development Subcommittee is responsible for contributing to the promotion of Professional Development activities, campaigns, and competitions (Compounding event (CE), Clinical skills event (CSE), Patient counseling event (PCE), Industrial Skills Event (ISE), Trainers Development Camp (TDC), Leaders in Training (LIT) and more) to member organisations. This Subcommittee will collaborate with the Regional Projects Officer to liaise with member organisations and support the organisation of Professional Development campaigns and activities on a local level. Tasks of the Professional Development Subcommittee include: ● Developing materials and generating ideas for member organisations to promote the pharmaceutical profession through Pharmacy Profession Awareness Campaigns, ● Collaborating with the Regional Projects Officer in providing support to member organisations to implement their own Professional Development competitions, such as a Patient Counselling Event.
