RENE DE M GUEL
To those who saw it happen.
Hello,
I am
dedicated, hard working and
committed to seeing things through to the best of my ability. I enjoy being part of a team and I am quick to learn. At school I found maths and drawing to be the subjects that motivated me the most, which led me to focus my college years on Technical Drawing. Followed by that I studied a 6 years Degree in Architecture, and I never got tired of going deeper and wanted to learn more with each project. My studies have provided me with a competent skill set and they have enhanced my ability to self-initiative and motivate myself. I have spent more than a year undertaking different jobs related to architecture. Working with both clients and developers has allowed me to improve my understanding of the processes and challenges involved with architectural projects. It helped me understand that an effective is a progression of ideas and knowledge.
my name is Irene and I’m an architect from
Spain. I consider myself to be both creative and realistic in the way I think about places. Architecture has allowed me to develop an understanding of the world and provided me with the tools to research and question how and why we shape the space around us.
-about me
design
I’m particularly interested in residential architecture and the public spaces that surround it. Home is a shelter, a sanctuary, a gallery of the occupier, the place where people are going to spend most of their time and feel safe, make it theirs. Being able to contribute in that process and create high quality sustainable living spaces is what I’d love to focus on. Studying and working in both Spain and the UK, along with my Erasmus year, has been an enriching experience, learning the cultural and professional differences has made me more open minded and resourceful. These experiences have provided me with teamwork, communication and management skills, organisational abilities to achieve deadlines, and have given me the opportunity to build a great appreciation and understanding of different cultures.

Clandon House is an 18th century Palladian mansion, National Trust property since 1956, including the surroundings. On the afternoon of 29th April 2015, a fire started in the house and quickly spread from the basement to the roof., leaving “essentially a shell. In a restoration project the original concept relays mostly on the architect, however we cannot just copy the original plans without losing the heritage, because it was thought for a time and place that no longer exist. We should use the opportunity of destruction, leaving the old visible as a reminder of the past.

Alponics Complex in Switzerland. The project includes landscape design and scaleable strategies to ensure that the company buildings can be expanded in the future. Alponics provides the most optimum cannabis-derived medications and aim to help shape the development of its positive, controlled path to market. Their product is cultivated in Switzerland, so the project will include all the necessary facilities.

Pitty Palace Costume Gallery in Florence The choice of the
for this project is strongly related to the location of the new satellite building in Bath. The collections shown in the gallery will comprise items from the 18th century until today. Most buildings in Bath are ancient, so making a new Gallery with contemporary style and materials will reflect that existing inside.

The ceramic panels resemble the castle stone walls, however the light passes through and gives them a slightly different look. The project includes a restaurant, kiosk and contemporary art exhibition, offering new uses in one of the most emblematic landmarks in Alicante.

Steep skylines UA | San Antón’s Revival Neighbourhood regeneration project San Antón used to be a safe neighbourhod for modest, humble families that spent their time at the streets, which became the ideal space for social interaction. However, it has deteriorated through the years due to squatters and lack of maintenance. Steep skylines aims to rebuild the
community, providing a high-quality familiar healthy environment. San Anton is the paradigm of a new
economic urban model, a place where the domesticity happens in the streets.
Neuroarchitecture research UA | Neuroarchitecture and high quality living spaces Research and analysis exercise Architecture and neuroscience can be combined to improve our physical and psychological wellbeing. Our surroundings have a greater influence in our brain than we imagine. The multi-sensorial perception of a space has an effect in our health and behaviour. Understanding how certain parameters, such as light, color or size, relate to our conduct is essential to design high quality spaces that users can benefit from and perceive as a rewarding experience.

Itty bitty living space Studio HIVE | Mini-house Following the Bristol Housing Festival Design carried out after an extensive research on Mini-houses and Modern
Methods of Construction. The housing crisis in the UK presents a challenge, and the solution may be off-site manufacturing to deliver quality sustainable spaces with a more controlled cost and efficient design. The Bristol Housing Festival, an initiative by Bristol One City, provides a better understanding of this innovative methods to maximise the spaces we live in.
