ABSTRACT Corona virus is a type of a viral disease. It spreads from one infected person to another healthy person when a healthy person comes in contact with infected person. Food plays a very important role in human life. It is the most powerful tool that makes society connected as they have talk while having food. This research paper has tried to analyze the impact of Corona on food sector particularly on Restaurants. Keywords: Corona virus; Food sector; Restaurant.

I.

INTRODUCTION

Coronaviruses are a group of disease related to RNA viruses that caused in mammals and birds. In humans, these viruses cause very worst effect that is respiratory tract infections that can range from mild to lethal. Illnesses include some cases of the common cold while more lethal varieties can cause SARS, MERS, and COVID-19. Coronaviruses can cause colds with major symptoms, such as fever, and a sore throat from swollen adenoids. Corona viruses can cause pneumonia (either direct viral pneumonia or secondary bacterial pneumonia) and bronchitis (either direct viral bronchitis or secondary bacterial bronchitis). The human coronavirus discovered in 2003, SARS-CoV, which causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), has a unique pathogenesis because it causes both upper and lower respiratory tract infections. India’s food & grocery market is the 6th largest in the world. Indian food sector is a high-growth sector with immense potential for value addition. It is expected to touch US$ 482 billion by 2020. The food processing industry in India accounts for 32% of the country’s total food market & 14% of the manufacturing GDP. It is estimated that the food processing sectors have the potential to attract US$ 33 billion investment in next 10 years. Food, Shelter and clothes are three essentials things that are needed by every human being to live on the earth. One of them is food and it is a very essential part of our lives, which is why the way it is grown, processed and transported is worth understanding and improving. People cannot imagine their life without food as because they get energy by eating food and by this energy they can do their scheduled work with more and more energy. As in today’s world food is like a love for some people as like they live in this world just to eat the food. As we can see people are making their career in this line by doing specific courses and they set their career and becomechef, restaurant manager and many more lines are there. One of them is very interesting is that many people go place to placeand eat food and then share their experiences with other with the help of internet and they even earn money with this also. So, here it is very clear that food is very essential.

Here I discussed about the 3 phases of Restaurant sector: 1.1 . Conditions of restaurants before lockdown of Corona virus: This phase ‘conditions of restaurants before lockdown of Corona virus’ can be clearly defined as normal lifestyle of restaurants which they live.In these conditions, owner of the restaurant open their restaurant on the normal time and makes sale as to satisfy the profit ratio of their restaurants. In the life style of this phase they earn their satisfactory level of profit and also give proper salary to their employees. In this duration they did not have to wear face mask all the time and did not say to their customers that please wait there are sufficient customers inside the restaurant. customer in the restaurant without checking their body temperature. In this phase they were living their life happily and with all their facility. 1.2. Conditions of restaurants during lockdown of Corona virus: In this phase of the lockdown the conditions of restaurants were very bad like they were in high loss as because of the restaurants were fully closed during the lockdown periods. Most of the employees did not get the salary in this duration and they face many problems in their personal lives as well as in their professional life. They manage their daily or monthly expenses of their family with their savings which they maintain before these conditions. The employees felt that they are unemployed as because they do not have any work to do. Sometime they losses their patience level in this duration of lockdown. The owner of the restaurant whose financial conditions was very strong paid salary to their employees in the period of lockdown but some owner whose restaurant was not that much stable in conditions did not paid salary to their employees. 1.3. Conditions of restaurants after unlock session of Corona virus: In this stage finally restaurants got the permission to be opened. The actual problems are here which the owner, manager and employees face due to Corona virus. The people were in fear to eat the outdoor meal either in Restaurants, Cafes, or Dhabas. The mindset of the people is that if they eat the food in restaurants they will be infected by Covid-19 because they do not trust the safety measures of the restaurants. On the restaurant point of view some of the employees left their job and the remaining employees were getting salary in low ratio. The further details of problems are discussed in the examples of particular restaurants that I take interview. 1.4. Some of the examples given below: Here I used to do survey through telephonic interview method. For the purpose for telephonic interview method I make a list of some questions which I asked to the owner and manager of the restaurants. Name of the restaurant. Address of the restaurant. Conditions of the restaurant before lockdown of Corona virus. What problems your restaurant faced during lockdown due to Corona virus? What the conditions are after unlock session of Corona virus? What measures you are using in your restaurant for the safety purpose of your employees? What measures you are using in your restaurant for the safety purpose of your customers? Effects of Home Chef concept on your restaurant. Any special arrangements after unlock session for the customers. What is your opinion about the future conditions of Covid-19 in relation to food sector?

1.5. First Restaurant:  Captain's Café Address: 2nd Floor, Garden Palace, New Collectorate Rd, above GST BHAWAN, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh 474011 Here I have a talk with Mr. Abhishek Singh Rajawat. He is on the post of Head in Captain’s Café. When I ask questions to him through telephonic interview method he used to be very supportive and provide all relevant information to me regarding my survey. The answers were: 1. 2.

Conditions of restaurant before lockdown were very favorable to all employees they were living their life freely with all facility. Problem they faced during the lockdown was that they did not get the salary because of this they were not able to manage their personal as well as family expenses.

After unlock session when they get the permission to open the restaurant they faces many problems like: The ratio of the employees reduced to 1/3. They only get 60% of the salary. Workload is very heavy because work is same but the staff is limited. Some customers are too careless they do not wear mask even after their rules mentioned by restaurants. Increase the ratio of rate on food. Wastage of raw material as pre- preparation of the food was sometimes not to be use as no customers were there. Uncomfortable in kitchen due to wearing mask, gloves, headwear and chef coat. For the safety purpose of employees they provide masks, gloves and sanitizer to all. And allow one staff at one time for service. For the safety purpose of customers they always check the body temperature at the entry gate and provide sanitizer spray at the door step on each and every entry. The home chef concept have a very bad effect on their restaurants sector as people used to make variety of food at their home so they do not want to go to restaurants. They make a special cabine for the customers who want privacy and safety more and have special chargers of it. In future if vaccine will be there then this would be great for food sector.

Third Restaurant: ď ś Maa Shakti dhaba Address: Mhow Gaon, Madhya Pradesh 453441 Here I have a talk with Mr. Shelendra Verma. He is the Owner of both the above mentioned restaurant 2 & 3. When I ask questions to him through telephonic interview method he used to be very Co-operative and provide all relevant information to me regarding my survey. Conditions of restaurant before lockdown were very favorable to all employees they were living their life freely with all facility. During lockdown the restaurant was fully closed but he paid salary to employees by his own pocket. After unlock session the conditions are: Only 50% staff left in restaurant, Deduction in ratio of salary is 50%. Rates of food items are constant. He does not make any change in the rates of food items. For the safety purpose of employees they provide masks, gloves and sanitizer to all. And allow one staff at one time for service. For the safety purpose of customers they always check the body temperature at the entry gate and provide sanitizer spray at the door step on each and every entry. The home chef concept does not have that much effect on his restaurant because of the location of restaurant in Indore city. He does not make any special arrangement. In future if vaccine will be there then this would be great for food sector.

1.8 Fourth Restaurant:  Annapurna Food Corner Address:Susen Amshia Park, Vadodara, Gujarat 390010 Here I have a talk with Mr. Sumit Pateriya. He is on the post of Owner of the Food Corner. When I ask questions to him through telephonic interview method he used to be very supportive and provide all relevant information to me regarding my survey. The answers were: 1. 2. 3. a. b. c. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

Conditions of restaurant before lockdown were very good to all employees they were living their life freely with all facility. During lockdown the restaurant was fully closed but he paid salary to employees on 50% ratio and also provide facility of food and shelter to employees who are from outside the city. After unlock session the conditions are: Only 40% staff left in restaurant, Deduction in ratio of salary is 80%. Rates of food items are constant. He does not make any change in the rates of food items. For the safety purpose of employees they provide masks, gloves and sanitizer to all. And allow one staff at one time for service. For the safety purpose of customers they always check the body temperature at the entry gate and provide sanitizer spray at the door step on each and every entry. The home chef concept does not have that much effect on his restaurant because of the location of restaurant in Vadodaracity. He does not make any special arrangement. In future if vaccine will be there then this would be great for food sector.

Food is a very essential basic need for the living life of people. It helps us to get the energy to do work. During Covid-19 Food sector suffers a lot. Corona gives a bad effect on job of employees working in restaurants. People are afraid to go in restaurants and have a meal. The owner whose financial conditions are very strong does not have Major effect in the duration of lockdown.

SUGGESTIONS

Use safety measures like wearing face masks, gloves. Always put a bottle of sanitizer near to you. Wash your with a soap and clean water.
