She soon realized that with social media playing a huge role in our lives - influencers have become critical way of advertising and marketing. In turn, significantly driving sales for brands. Even though we love social media and it helps us create a connection with people around the world, it has also comes with a side that we choose to turn a blind eye to. It is nearly impossible to ignore that social media has made it easier for people to judge and to be judged. Being a female model/ influencer online, hostility from strangers is always a major concern for anyone who is in the industry. When asked how Vivian handles the negativity, “…grow thicker skin and think beyond what it is…anybody who leaves hates and criticizes someone for their looks, it’s all coming from them and their own issues.” When discussing body positivity and what Vivian’s thoughts were , she gave her honest advice, “being able to live a long life, I need to eat healthy and exercise and make sure I get enough sleep… but I don’t associate that with the pressure of being a model.” Some advice for the younger generations: “There’s a lot of pressure for younger generations when they feel like they need to look a certain way, but if you take care of yourself, your body will react in its own way.” With a smile, Vivian continues “At the end of the day, I’m on this earth once and I take care of myself because I want to feel good!” As a model/influencer, with the pressure of exposing one’s life to the public, it is important to preserve some level of privacy. “What I post is only 3 to 5% of my life, and I do it on purpose.” Vivian continues, “I like to keep my personal life personal to me.” Beyond Vivian’s 617k followers and glamorous pictures, Vivian was a professional ballroom dancer who has entered several competitions prior to committing to the influencer industry.
