a letter from

multimedia Hello friends and fellow superheroes!! It’s been so long since we last talked in our little newsletter section hehe, so I’m very glad I can catch up with you all <3. How were finals? I hope you guys didn’t stay up too late studying for them, and that they went super well. I honestly didn’t have too many finals, but I did stay up one night until 5 AM writing an essay... PSA to the underclassmen, don’t underestimate APENG :’). In the past few months, we’ve seen you all go above and beyond to attend our events and bond with us, even over winter break! It’s so heartwarming seeing you guys continue to show your dedication to our club and those in need, and your efforts do not go unnoticed. Key Club wouldn’t be the same without each and every one of you, and I’m so glad we were able to enter 2021 on such positive notes. I fully believe that this year will be one for the books, and I can’t wait to spend it with you all!! And of course, thank you so much for reading our newsletter :-).

sincerely,

Jessica Mason

meet th

secretary & Hello superheroes! I’m Selena, and I serve as Irvington Key Club’s Secretary. I’ve been in Key Club since sophomore year and I’ve been able to go to so many events and have so many amazing experiences. It’s such a fun environment and I hope that you also are able to have fun in this club too! To all of you in Key Club, thank you so much for your dedication, passion, and your hard work this school year. We appreciate you! ❤ In February, look forward to more service events, fundraisers, and our general meeting. Also, remember to pay dues if you haven’t! These opportunities all allow you to get involved and make friends with other great people, so I recommend that you do not miss out. I hope you all have fun with our upcoming events, and I’ll see you all there! If you have any questions about our club, feel free to contact me! Stay healthy and happy :)

Sincerely, Selena Zeng: 20-21 Secretary

We hope to keep planning more collaborations in the form of fundraisers and service events, so be on the lookout for that! Also, don’t forget to come to our February general meeting. With this term coming to a close in a couple months, applications for executive positions will be up soon, and hopefully I will be seeing everyone more often! november december

recap!

november general meeting

On November 13, we had our November general meeting! We decided to go with an Avatar: The Last Airbender theme, including Uncle Iroh themed slides and chill Avatar lofi beats in the background. During the meeting, we went over paying dues and the membership recognition program. In addition, we also announced our December events and fundraisers! December was super busy, and you can read more about that here. Most notably, our amazing Kiwanis advisor, Mr. Chip Koehler, came to our meeting and talked to us for a bit! We’re so thankful for all that Mr. Koehler does for our club, so we’re glad our members could meet him! And of course, thank you guys for attending <3.

Irvington Key Club x Students In Action

Kolor for

Kids

Kolor for Kids was an extremely successful event! We partnered with Irvington ASG’s Students in Action and we had over 80 participants come! It was so fun seeing fresh new faces at our events, and we had a blast making coloring books to donate! Thank you so much for attending our service event, and making a difference in someone’s life <3

Baking and Composting Event

Chocolate Chip Cookies

On Friday, November 27, Irvington Key Club held an event where we learned about composting! We were able to bake yummy chocolate chip cookies, and it really got us all into the festive winter mood!

Recycling and Composting with

Hot Cocoa Mixes On December 23rd, Irvington Key Club made cute hot cocoa mixes to give as gifts to friends & family during the holidays! It was such a relaxing event and we learned about composting and recycling to reduce our carbon footprint!

Stay Warm and Thank You for Coming!

Irvington Key Club’s

December General Meeting On December 16, Irvington Key Club held our we bare bare themed December General Meeting where we talked about recent updates, had a raffle for dues and boba, and were able to bond with our general members! We even had special guests, such as: -LTG Emily Vu -D12E EA Roland Yin -American VP Charitha Gangi -Independence President Andrea Vu -Milpitas President Kristine Dinh

On December 18, Irvington Key Club attended our December DCM! D12E held our annual collaboration with Division 12! We played lots of fun bonding games, and in the middle, we went into breakout rooms to discuss our updates for D12E!

Mountain Mike’s

RA

On December 19, Milpitas Key Club hosted a pizza fundraiser at Mountain Mike’s Milpitas location! Irvington Key Club wanted to help out a fellow D12E sister club, and publicized the event on social media. The fundraiser was super successful, and we even saw Irvington members make the long drive over to buy pizza and support PTP, where Key Club donated the fundraiser’s earnings to. Especially with the current situation, it’s been a challenge to fundraise, so we’re extremely happy that we could help another club out!

From December 20 to December 26 (an entire week!!), the Fremont Key Clubs hosted a fundraiser at YiFang Taiwan Fruit Tea, a popular boba tea shop near American High School. We were so happy to see tons of Key Clubbers come to buy tea, and they also loved the cute receipt box American Key made for the fundraiser! Editor’s note (Jessica), the pineapple green tea was supa good~
