THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF BUCHAREST
PRIMARY NEWSLETTER, FEBRUARY 09 Ice-skating Between 3rd and 6th February ISB Primary School celebrated the “ice‐skating week” as part of the school’s winter sports programme. All Key Stage 2 pupils joined us at “Cismigiu Parc” ice skating rink. The children enjoyed themselves and learned their first steps on the ice. We would like to thank parents, teachers and all the management team for their support in making this event a success. “Nothing is too difficult if you will try”. Therefore be brave and try ice‐skating with ISB next time!!! PE Department

Winter Parties by PTA
On the 23rd of January, after school, we had the winter parties for the primary children. There were approximately 180 children divided in three parties. We had a big bouncy castle in the foyer, three clowns, and party games for the EYF children and karaoke competition for KS1 and KS2. For the older children the karaoke was the most exciting activity. As for the younger ones the bouncy castle was the favourite. The parties ended with the children getting a bag of sweets. It was good to see all those smiling faces. We give our most sincere thank you to all the parents and teachers that help supervising the three parties. Without you we couldn’t have Year Six have been studying rivers and are undertaking fieldwork on the River Dambovita, Bucharest as part of this. done it. Class 6F have already been to study the river near Izvor. They travelled from Republica to Izvor by metro. At the river they engaged in practical activities linked to Maths, such as measuring the width of the river. They also learned how to measure the rate of flow of the river. They noted how the river environment in town is made up of apartments and various businesses. The pupils enjoyed this quick action packed trip. Classes 6H and 6F will be undertaking this trip in March. Gordon Hamilton Humanities Co‐ordinator
