Year 3 Residential Trip Club Villa Bran 2016

Staffing • We will have a ratio of 1:10 during the trip. All Year 3 class teachers will be going as well as Miss Eva. Club Villa Bran Resort

Rationale for Trip • To develop independence. • Residential trips provide experiences that we can not offer on-site, so children are extended in a way that does not happen in the classroom. They participate in team-building activities, develop stronger peer relationships and grow in confidence before our eyes.

The children will be in rooms of 2s and 3s. With some children sharing a double bed.

Teachers and Teaching Assistants will be in rooms next door. The ratio will be 1:10 of adults to children.

Children will be given an opportunity to choose a partner for the trip and be mixed with children from other classes in their groups.

Frequently Asked Questions Who do the children share a room with? The children choose 2 or 3 friends who they would like to share with and we do our best to make sure that they are with at least 1 of these people. Can parents call the children? No, we will communicate through the school email with general updates. What if my child does not like the food? They will be hungry after the activities and will eat. They can bring some small snacks too. Are electronic devices allowed? No. We want the children to socialise on the trip and interact. Are the teachers close to where the children sleep? The teachers rooms are beside the children in their group, so still a ratio of 1:10. Are the rooms secure? Yes, the children have the keys and there are guards on site 24 hours.

Pre-trip worries • Write down any questions/problems you may have about the trip. • Fold them up. • Put everyone’s questions in the middle, take turns to pick out one at a time. • Discuss them as a class, with the children making the suggestions. Can you help each other?
