The Ischia Film Festival, an interna-
tional cinema competition, which aims to focus on movies that were filmed in locations all over the world representing the locations’ human, historical and social reality, promoting their culture e traditions. The festival takes place every year among the suggestive spaces of an Aragonese Castle in the middle of the water bridged with the island of Ischia in the bay of Naples.

For his particularly theme the Festival is under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, and with the moral support of the Ministries of Cinema and Culture, Foreign Affairs, Heritage, Environment and Tourism, among other local government and cultural authorities. Since its first edition the Festival has represented an important event for Italian cinema, acquiring a leading importance, among the cultural initiatives, for the artists and trade professionals who have taken part in it. In past editions the festival has awarded distinguished personalities of international cinema : Oscar winners Sir Ken Adam, Alan Lee, John Howe, Vittorio Storaro, Ron Howard, Carlo Rambaldi, Osvaldo Desideri, Bille August, directors : Abbas Kiarostami, Benouit Jacqueot, Abel Ferrara, Pavel Lounguine, Kristoff Zanussi, Luciano Emmer, Carlo Lizzani, Mario Monicelli, Giuliano Montaldo, Pupi Avati.
The beauty and uniqueness of this island, the wellness of its thermal springs, are known and appreciated worldwide for their healthy property This charming mediterranean island is rich of particularly and suggestive locations, which has been the set for many films such as “Cleopatra” with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, “Avanti” from director Billy Wilder, “After the Fox”, with Peter Sellers, “The Talented Mr. Ripley” directed by Anthony Minghella with Guyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Matt Damon.
