An innovative, classroom driver retraining program designed to help older persons improve their driving skills. Developed by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), AARP Mature Driving is the first comprehensive driving retraining course geared to the specific needs of older motorists. The course includes lectures and class discussion – no driving or tests. Minnesota State Law requires all insurance companies to give auto insurance discounts to all persons age 55 years and over who complete this course.

Welcome to the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line! Take a nostalgic ride on a historic streetcar along a scenic route between Lake Harriet and Bde Maka Ska (Lake Calhoun). The Motorman will provide interesting information about the car and Minnesota streetcar history. You will step back to the days when the streetcar was king and Twin Citians went to work, to school, and to play by trolley! After the ride, visit the displays in the station, shop for a souvenir of your visit. Enjoy lunch at “Cherokee Tavern.” Menu: Small Sirloin with Tossed Salad, Baked
Potato with sour cream, Rolls, Beverage and Dessert. After lunch its on to The Sibley Historic Site. On a guided tour, you will explore the restored limestone and brick buildings that are among the oldest still standing structures in Minnesota. These buildings help tell the history of the region's fur trade and Sibley's involvement in Minnesota business and politics, as well as his role in the US-Dakota War of 1862.
Arrive in St. Paul at the Padelford Riverboat Co. operating from Harriet Island Regional Park in downtown St. Paul, MN. Take a narrated sightseeing cruise along the Mississippi River. A 90minute cruise departs from Harriet Island and travels through the heavily wooded Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. It is steeped in the history of early Minnesota and its settlers. Sights along the way include: the St. Paul High Bridge, Pigs Eye’s Cave, the Minnesota River mouth, Pike Island, and the timeless splendor of the mighty Mississippi River. MIXOLOGY 101: SUMMERTIME DRINKS How can you resist the opportunity to craft a tasty cocktail? Learning how to mix great drinks (alcoholic or not) is fun and it is not difficult. If you’re looking to dive deeper into the world of the bartending – whether at home or as a pro – then a crash course in bartending is just what you need! With a few basic tools and a handful of tips and tricks, your next drinks can be better than any you’ve made before! We will have Southbrook reserved for this class only. The class will have cocktail stations provided for each participant so they can learn techniques of competently mixing cocktails with these spirits. PUPPY TRAINING This six-week class is for all breeds of puppies, ages 8 weeks to 4 months old. Each class starts with 15 minutes of puppy play and socialization. Throughout the six-weeks, we work on basic obedience including leash walking, sit, down and stay. We address issues as needed such as biting, house breaking, crate training, etc. Classes are held indoors in a heated/AC facility with matted floors. Puppies should have their first set of shots including first Parvo/distemper and Bordatella (optional). Young handlers are welcome accompanied by a parent. Students should bring a regular buckle collar, 6- foot leash and plenty of soft dog treats to class. *Register to begin any Monday night.

Interested in bicycling? Would you like someone to ride with? Join our group as we hit the roads around Annandale this summer! The purpose of the class is to promote healthy living and have fun peddling with other piking enthusiasts. Riders will meet as a group on Monday Evenings around 6:30pm. Each class will run a minimum of 30 minutes and continue until 8pm. Those that wish to ride longer, can. A comfortable bicycle in good working order and bike helmet is required of each participant. The heart of the Lakes Basketball Skills Camp goals are to develop basketball skills, confidence and an overall better understanding of the game. Head Girls Basketball Coach, Craig Grams and Head Volleyball Coach, Marty Kiebel have joined forces to offer a basketball skills camp and volleyball skills camp at back to back times. The best part about this offer is that you can complete a two and half hour workout in two sports before 11:00 a.m.! Basketball Breakfast Club: The main goal of the “Breakfast Club” is to improve offensive skills (i.e. shooting, passing, dribbling, etc...). Athletes will gain experience in skill and drill sessions as well as competitive game situations to increase offensive skills and basketball awareness. This is not open gym and will be conducted by a girl’s basketball coach. Join the newly revived Irish Cheerleading Squad! Cheer on the Maple Lake Irish football team at home games. This program is designed with flexibility in mind, no pun intended! Students participating in other fall sports are welcome to participate as well! Practice schedules are designed to accommodate students in Volleyball or Cross Country. Practices will be in the evening and may change weekly based on the volleyball and cross country schedules. The cheer team will cheer at home varsity football games. SUMMER FIELD TRIPS Field Trips provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities.Not only do field trips provide alternative educational opportunities they also provide students the opportunity to take a break from their normal routine and experience more hands on learning. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure time. Staff and busses do not wait for late attendance.
Students must be signed in by an adult at AES, Door #2, in Community Education Office. Please be sure all liability waivers are signed at drop off. Please bring all required items listed under each field trip. We strongly suggest a water bottle and drawstring backpack for all field trips. This is an instructional league where players will be able to put on the pads and helmets and get a feel for what tackle football is all about. They will be taught the fundamentals of the game of football. Teams will practice two nights a week on Tuesday and Thursday and games will be held on Saturday's. Practices for Annandale will take place at Annandale Middle School practice field, and Maple Lake practices will take place at the practice football fields. Games will take place at various locations including but not limited to Annandale, Maple Lake, Rockford, Delano, Waconia, Howard Lake, and more. Registration includes use of helmet, shoulder pads, free mouth guard, & jersey.

Welcome to Cardinal Kids Club, Annandale’s leading childcare program. Cardinal Kids Club offers a safe and nurturing environment for children in the Annandale school district. We understand the privilege and importance in providing care for your children. We know each child is unique and special and provide programming that focuses on social, emotional and creative development. We gladly accommodate varying schedules and will assist in bringing students to and from Community Education Activities.

Our Cardinal Kids Club staff plan a variety of field trips and fun activities for children in Kindergarten-Grade 5. Welcome to Kamp Kidville Maple Lake’s premier summer childcare program serving children Preschool (completely toilet trained) -6th grade. Kamp Kidville is a balanced high quality program, which includes opportunities for recreation, social skill development, basic skills reinforcement and academic enrichment. Participating children have many opportunities to provide input into the types of activities that are available. Kamp Kidville is conveniently located in the Northwest corner of Maple Lake Elementary.

What happens when class is
• Now! Many classes fill quickly and instructors need to order supplies. • Help to ensure your class has enough students by registering at least 7 days prior to the class starting. • Registering early will reserve your spot in classes or trips that fill early. • You’ll be registered to participate in the class.

Where should I go to register in person? • Annandale Community Education office located at 655 Park St. E Annandale, MN please use Door 2 at AES. • Maple Lake Community Education office located at 200 STATE Hwy 55 Maple Lake, MN, please use the district office entrance.
Why pay by Credit Card? • Register online and know immediately you are in the class. • Credit Card refunds are processed with in a day or two. Refund checks are mailed by district office 7-14 business days.
• Community education reserves the right to cancel any activity due to insufficient enrollment, all fees are refunded if a course is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. • Classes are cancelled 2-6 business days prior to the start of class. Avoid disappointment of class cancelation by registering early and on time! Community ed classes are so much for fun with a friend! • We will contact you via email or phone if a class is cancelled.
Will class be held if the weather is questionable? • When Maple Lake Schools and/or Annandale Public schools is dismissed early all community education classes or activities are cancelled. • Call our weather line for up to date announcements at 320-274-5700, subscribe to our TEXT service by texting ANNMLCE to 84483 to begin receiving the most up to date weather announcements. • A rescheduled date will be made available if possible.
What is your REFUND policy? • Persons who wish to withdraw their registration must do so no later than 5 business days before the activity is scheduled to start. • A $5/class/student service fee be dedicated from each refund date.
What if I have a past due balance with Community Education? • Accounts not paid in full or showing outstanding balances for services received from Community Education programs, including (Childcare, Preschool, Youth and Adult programs) will not be able to register for other community education programs untill accounts are paid off in full.
