T
he people see only an image in the dogist, but there’s a bunch of silly set of images. They come up to the lens, bark and hide behind their owners, but they eventually settle down and just look right at me. That’s when you hear the shutter flutter. I try to capture them in that state.

“D
ogs have so much personality and they aren’t afraid to show it. Anyone can look at a photo of a dog and understand the thought or feeling going through that dog’s mind at that moment: desire, fear, curiosity, happiness, sadness. They don’t get all self-conscious around cameras like people do.

“I
look for a dog that stands out. Oftentimes it’s a cool breed with a funny haircut, or a dog that is an unusual mix. There are a lot of white fluffy dogs and brown dogs and there are some of them you just want to know more about.
“
Norman, Miniature Labradoodle (1.5 y/o) RebelMouse HQ, New York, NY
“W
ith Give a Dog a Bone I visit shelters and photograph adoptable dogs to be featured on the site. From there people from my audience will sponsor the dogs. It gives these dogs more exposure than they would otherwise have and helps tell an important piece of the story.
