CONTRIBUTING TO SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

AfriSam has collaborated with Swartland Local Municipality, Hope Through Action and other partners towards the construction of a much-needed indoor and outdoor community sports centre in Wesbank.
The centre consists of sport and public engagement facilities which will benefit thousands of residents in Malmesbury, Wester n C ape . T he CMA member contributed R2 million towards the construction of the Swartland Community Sports Centre, which will house a sports hall, counselling and training rooms, a resource centre, seating for public events, a full-size, grass-surfaced football pitch and a multi-purpose outdoor court. Community members will also benefit from various programmes at the centre, including life skills and leadership courses, as well as training in various sport skills. Mathapelo Sehloho, A friSam ESD professional, says the company is excited about this project because it will positively impact the lives of community members, especially the youth.
Community care “One of our key focus areas is to create a better future for our children. We’re proud to be associated with a programme that will equip the youth of Malmesbury not just with physical skills, but – equally importantly – with life and leadership skills as well,” says Sehloho. “The Swartland Municipality extends its sincere thanks to AfriSam for its social contribution. The collaboration between the company and the municipality has made it possible for us to invest in areas which urgently need upliftment.
“We greatly appreciate AfriSam’s efforts towards establishing a conducive economic development climate for the area,” says Olivia Fransman o f the Swartland Municipality.

Skills development AfriSam has an intensive community involvement programme that focuses on making a sustainable difference to the communities in which it operates. T he company is involved in various projects nationwide, with the aim of empowering and equipping communities with knowledge and skills, as well as providing them with the tools and facilities to become self-reliant.
The company also has a longstanding relationship with the Jo Dolphin Association for People With Disabilities (APD) in Malmesbury. In addition to the donation of assistive devices and therapy equipment, the company also invested in enhancing the skills of the carers, teachers and parents at Jo Dolphin APD, as well as upgrading the facility to meet the needs of pupils.

We believe the Swartland Community Sports Centre will play a vital role in achieving this objective,” says Sehloho.
