9-HOLE WOMAN’S GOLF ASSOC. (DTNHWGA)
By Sandy Gove

Welcoming back seasonal 9-Holers getting back into the swing of the game!
It’s exciting to see our members who’ve been away beginning to return for another great season of golf and fun activities-we’ve missed you!
Play has returned to a shotgun start; however, there will be no gathering in the lower parking lot as in the past. We do ask that you stop in the parking lot before going to your assigned hole, as someone will be there to collect your $2.00 fee. Upcoming is the Couples’ Challenge on November 6, so mark your calendar and watch for details.
Whether you are just learning to play golf or prefer to play only nine holes of golf, our league offers three flights based on your handicap, and invites you to play with ladies of all skill levels who have fun! Our weekly play offers a variety of games, and other social events are planned throughout the season.
Morning golf is a great way to start the day here in paradise, so if you would like further information about our league, please contact our Membership Chair, Kathy Klein (715-927-1163) who will gladly answer any questions you may have, or if you cannot reach Kathy, please call Marlene DeGraaf at 239-599-4404.
The Friday Night Scrambles organized by the Pro-Shop has begun and is a fun and wonderful way to meet new people and make new friends, so consider joining in if you’ve not in the past. Stop by the Pro-Shop for details and/or to sign up.
See you on the Tee!

TENNIS AT DEL TURA

By Jacqueline St-Jean President, Del Tura Tennis Association
We have a very dedicated group of players who attend Open Tennis on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. They range from beginner to advance. All are welcome. You don’t need to find a partner, just show up during these times and you will automatically be included in the group. No spectators will be allowed around the courts though.
You will find a Weekly schedule posted in the screened room by the North pool. It is posted on Saturdays for the coming week. Anyone can reserve a court on the schedule 2 days ahead of the planned activity where space is available. Afternoons are often free, and we encourage you to take advantage of our beautiful courts.
The Del Tura Tennis Association intra-mural leagues have started and are well underway. We have 4 leagues going at the moment: Men’s A, Men’s B1, Women’s and a CoEd group.
Our travelling teams that normally play with the Lee County Women’s Tennis League and the SWIFT teams are on hold at the moment as Del Tura is not allowing outside players into the Country Club yet. We hope that in time this will change, and we will be able to resume play with our friends in Lee County.
In the meantime, keep safe and healthy. If you have any questions, please contact Jacqueline St-Jean at jacstjean2016@gmail. com or the Del Tura Tennis Association at DelTuraTennis@gmail.com.

By Margie Blackwell
Many of our seasonal members have returned over the past month and we are all happy to be back in full swing.
TOURNAMENTS
The league’s yearly tournaments and the dates to be played are listed below. We need volunteers to plan the Member Guest tournament, and please keep in mind that the tournament format may need to be altered depending on a number of factors, for example, how many participants can play and be in attendance at a group luncheon.
2020 • Club Championship (December 9, 10, and 16)
2021
• Member Member (January 27-28) • Member Guest (March 4) • President’s Cup (March 17, 18, 24 and 25)
We will also have another annual Shootout, managed by Paula Lafreniere, and it is currently scheduled for spring 2021. There will be one qualifying round played in each month leading up to the tournament and the first qualifying round of golf was played in October. So, everyone has multiple chances to qualify and as always, the entire league will be invited to the after-Shootout luncheon (details to be provided at a later date). By Justine Fitzgibbons
If Dogs Could Talk
Most pet owners are concerned with their pets diets. Below are some good and bad eats for your dog.
SAFE GREEN FOODS FOR YOUR DOG:
PEAS: Make a good filler in the bowl with kibble to help cut calories. Snap peas still in the shell make a nice snack. fill in the kibble. and a healthy snack or filler also. Do not use canned beans, only fresh or frozen. give them to one or two a day.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The Nominating Committee for this year’s election is: • Maria Soper, Chairperson • Gail Flynn • Kathy Montemaggi
There are four elected offices – President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Nominations will run through December 1st and we expect the official election and results to be announced at a general meeting currently scheduled for December 17th.
Sandy Vassallo and Margie Blackwell will run for the same offices they hold now, President and Vice President. However, everyone is encouraged to consider running for these offices.
Bertie Dugo and Sherry Leverre will not run for their offices, Secretary and Treasurer, for another term. They have both been in these positions for a few years and we can’t thank them enough for all their hard work!
Everyone is encouraged to get involved in the league and think about ways in which you can contribute. Please consider running for office, volunteering to assist in a tournament – new ideas and new faces are always welcome.
DUES
Annual membership dues will stay at $35 and need to be paid by December 31st. Only checks will be accepted, and they should be made payable to DTWGA and dropped off in the Pro Shop.
WE NEED YOUR EYES The HOA Grounds committee needs your input if there is a problem or safety issue in the common areas of Del Tura. Please report it to us and we will work toward the solution.

SIDEWALKS ARE FOR WALKING
Full and part time residents of Del Tura and their guests are reminded that there should be NO PARKING OF VEHICLES, GOLF CARTS, TRAILERS, and RV’S ON OUR SIDEWALKS!
Please keep our sidewalks open for their intended purpose.
Our streets are sufficiently wide enough to handle our vehicle and still permit traffic to pass easily. If you have contractors working on your behalf, please remind them of this request as well.
Also, please keep your garbage off the sidewalks as well. Place it at the end of your driveway or in the grass. There are a lot of walkers at night and may fall/trip over items. Attention to this request will result in a happier and safer neighborhood for all of us!

FALL FISH NEWS
By Ginny Benjamins
DEAR FISH VOLUNTEERS:
FISH members would like to remind our residents that we continue to give rides and loan medical equipment all year long. We never close! Just call our FISH line (997-3474) and leave your request. Someone will get back to you the same day. Please follow the instructions on the phone so we can serve you in the best way possible. If you know you will need a ride to a doctor’s appointment please give us 24 hours to find a ride for you or call us even if your appointment is far in the future so we can get the ride on our books.
Since Publix and all the drugstores offer a flu shot, FISH has decided not to have it this year. Please visit a drug store or Publix (they even give you $10.00 when getting a shot).
FISH is here to assist you! Feel free to contact our FISH president, Ginnie Benjamins (ginnie1131@comcast.net), if you have any questions. Thank you for being a FISH Volunteer!
