Custody Protect uses biosensors that are placed on individuals at the time of arrest, and kept on through transport, booking and detention. These biosensors detect an individual’s heart rate, heart rate variability, motion and location. All of this data is processed through artificial intelligence in real-time to detect risks to health and safety. When we detect the first sign of a problem, we instantly notify officers, dispatch and emergency medical services. He created Big Data solutions for Cisco Systems, Adobe, Autodesk, Thermofisher, and Millpore. In 2016, events both in the media and closer to home had John conceptualizing how he could use his expertise to help solve what had become one of our society’s critical problems. Years of research and interaction with law enforcement and community members culminated in the creation of Custody Protect. John used his expertise in product design, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things sensor networks, and real-time analytics to make people safe. John believed it was time to bring a public health approach to public safety.

He specializes in PDF Accessibility, Accessibility Standards, Document Usability by Adaptive Technology Users. Adam is also the Vice-Chair of the Standards Council of Canada responsible for the authoring of the ISO Standards for PDF and PDF Accessibility. Adam volunteers on several Accessibility Advisory Committees as well speaker at conferences around the world sharing his experience and expertise.
