WELCOME Welcome to our home! Welcome our home away from home in the beach city of Oceanside. This welcome book is intended to help you get acquainted with the area and our home. Favorite restaurants, events and little oside tidbits! Along with our area guide you'll also find everything you need to know about our home. From air conditioning to the pool. You will find a bound copy of this guide in the home, which you are welcome to take out with you during your stay so you needn't print this out. Your space We have sought to equip our home to a high standard and to anticipate your needs by providing all the things you might want for a comfortable stay. Hair dryers and pool towels are provided as standard and a washing machine is available so that you don’t have to worry about luggage restrictions. Our philosophy You want to have a wonderful stay and we want you to feel peace and relaxed when here. We believe that when you are here this is your home for however long you are staying and that you will be relaxed, comfortable and happy. Welcome to our piece of paradise! Both being from the Midwest (Wisconsin) we wanted to move to an area with great weather, great people and a vibrant exciting community. We found that here in Oceanside California. We have a few favorites that we hope that you will enjoy during your stay!!
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE INFORMATION ARRIVAL INFORMATION WIFI / INTERNET DETAILS The house has free Wi-Fi. The details are: ID: Password: The service is provided for your enjoyment but you are responsible for safe and appropriate use and complying with all laws. If there is any loss of service please contact us. ACCESS CODES / INSTRUCTIONS Due to the sensitive nature of this information we will email access codes separately. Once you are set to arrive we ask that you message us about 30 to 60 minutes from arrival. We will provide door codes if we are not able to greet you directly! CHECK-IN TIME Check-in time is 3pm. We can sometimes arrange an early check-in so please contact us if you will arrive early and we'll do our best, without any promises! We suggest you refer to the section on what to do if you arrive early - there is plenty to keep you entertained! DRIVING DIRECTIONS If you are arriving via car and have a GPS / SatNav system in the car, please use 5406 Toucanet Ct Oceanside Ca 92057 If you do not have a GPS device, you can find us by coming into Oceanside and we are the street right before you enter Camp Pendleton from the San Luis Rey gate
GETTING HERE WITHOUT A CAR We understand that some of you will be traveling without a car. In this case finding us is pretty simple! If arriving from the airport please know that you can use UBER, Lyft, or the bus comes within 5 blocks of our home INVENTORY CHECK As you know this is a shared home. That means that the items that are provided to you for your use are in your rented space. We provide towels (beach and bathroom ones), washcloths, clean linens, bottled waters and a clean place to relax in private. We do ask, if there is something in a common area that isn’t yours that you clarify if it is for AIRBNB guest use. We do have up to 2 guests at a time and while we do all we can to provide space and items for use sometimes someone leaves a personal item in the bathroom or kitchen and we try and make sure we aren’t using items that belong to other guests. PARKING Parking is provided on the street. It is a 1st come 1st serve. We live in a very quiet cul de sac so parking is usually not a problem. Every other week is street sweeping. The ticket is about 85.00 for leaving your car out when they come through. We believe that is a GREAT reason to go out, have breakfast and enjoy some sights!! We are NOT responsible for tickets to vehicles not moved.
DEPARTURE INFORMATION CHECK-OUT PROCESS When you leave, please ensure the following simple tasks are done: - take the rubbish out to the bins - ensure the fridge is unplugged and any personal items removed - check the bathroom for personal items left behind - take any dishes or kitchen items to the kitchen from your room - if your door has a lock and key please leave it in the lock so we know that you have left. We hope you had a wonderful stay and wish you safe travels back home. We'd love to see you again next time you are in the area! CHECK-OUT TIME Check-out time is strictly 11am. Should you require a later check-out we will do our best but you need to let us know beforehand. If we have guests arriving that day it will be almost impossible to offer a late check-out due to the cleaners needing to prepare for those guests. CLEANING You will find the house clean on arrival but please let us know if you are not satisfied. For stays of 1 week there is no cleaning service. After you depart our cleaners will perform that for the next guest. If you are here for two weeks there will be one clean, usually on the middle Saturday. They have a key and will access the room at some point during the day, but not before 10am. If you need a cleaning service more often, please let us know and we will arrange this. An extra payment will apply. On departure there is no need for you to perform a full clean or to make the bed! .
GETTING YOURSELF ORIENTED OVERVIEW OF THE AREA This home is on the Wilmont Ranch subdivision. We are about 7miles from the ocean. There is a Camp Pendelton one block from the entrance to the subdivision (if you missed our turn you likely ended up on base). We have a target about a mile away as well as Walmart and a Vons grocery. If you need delivery of grocery items there is Instacart here in this area. You can download the app tell them to go to ralphs or Vons and input the items you want. Someone will shop for you and deliver it to you in about 2 hours!!! It is a great service if you are not familiar with the area. There is an EL Super about 3 miles away if you want a unique shopping esperience! SUGGESTIONS IF YOU ARRIVE EARLY Many guests will arrive before the designated check-in time. The good news is that there is plenty to do. We often suggest that guests visit the grocery store and do a small shop. That will give you more time to relax once you've checked in! There are also a few good restaurants for lunch so why not relax and enjoy some of the local food!
ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION APPLIANCE INSTRUCTIONS / INFORMATION AIR CONDITIONING Our home has the benefit of air conditioning. We are more than willing to adjust heat and cold as needed but usually with a fan and an open window or adjusting to simply opening the door so that the air can move helps. Please ask before changing thermostat. CEILING FANS Our home is equipped with ceiling fans to help keep you cool. Each fan is operated via a switch on the wall CENTRAL HEATING Our home has a central heating system. Please let us know if there needs to be an adjustment during your stay. Each room does have additional quilts and blankets in the closet FIREPLACE Our home has a working fireplace. Please assure that it is off should you use it. We also have an outdoor permanent fire pit as well as a portable one. We can provide the starter log for your fire and the rest of the wood you can pick up at any local store to burn. Please assure that your fire is completely extinguished prior to leaving into the house. KITCHEN EQUIPMENT Please feel free to use the indoor or outdoor cooking areas. There are pots pans utensils and dishes. Please feel free to make yourselves at home. We have NO problems with guests cooking a great meal and enjoying it. If you want to eat on your own there is an outdoor eating and a dining room for your use. We ask that
after 10 pm the meal prep is complete and cleaned up and the kitchen is used for snack only popcorn ice cream etc. The Dishwasher: It's very simple, we promise! We provide a supply of liquid - you will need to squirt some into the flip box container on the inside of the dishwasher door. Then press the program button of your choice - there are a few settings which are obvious then press the start button. The Fridge/freezer: You should not need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it's not cooling efficiently) please let us know. The Hob and Oven: The hob is a four burner gas hob, and the oven is both regular and convection (watch which one you pick) There is a grill on the patio for your use as well. Please turn off when done. LAUNDRY APPLIANCES We have a washer and separate dryer located in the utility room upstairs, simply select the program you want, place the detergent in the tray, close the door, and hit start. We DO charge a fee for laundry. You can bring your own soap and it is 2.00 per load or if you like our soaps it is 4.00 per load. This will not reflect on your Airbnb bill so we ask that you are honest and just give to one of us hosts. (It is still cheaper than a local laundromat) SECURITY / ALARM INFORMATION The property has security cameras. These cameras are NOT in any of the rooms NOR are they even remotely close to a sleeping area. We do monitor who comes and goes in our home for your safety and ours. The camera locations will be pointed out to you during your entry tour and NONE of the cameras are a hidden secret.
ENJOYING YOUR TIME INSIDE BOARD GAMES / PLAYING CARDS We do have a variety of card games and board games that are located in the back of house living room. You are welcome to play them either in your room, dining and living room OR out on the patio. Pool We want you to enjoy our home as your own. That does include the pool and the areas in the back that create a great place to relax and catch some California sun! BREAKAGES We understand that sometimes accidents happen! Should you break anything please let us know immediately - if it's minor we usually won't charge. If it's a larger issue (e.g. the TV screen!) we would like to agree the cost with you before you leave to avoid any issues later. Thank you! GAMES CONSOLES We do have multiple sets please let us know if you want to use them and they will be provided, MUSIC SYSTEM We have alexa…. So just walk into a room and say alexa play “whatever you want to hear” and it will play until you say “alexa stop” volume is the same just tell her up or down.
ENJOYING YOUR TIME OUTSIDE BEACH EQUIPMENT We do have some beach chairs as well as bikes if you would like to head to the beach as well as BEACH towels (please don’t take the bath towels there). CHAIRS / TABLES There are plenty of seating tables chairs and loungers out by the pool please feel free to enjoy them GRILL / BBQ Please feel free to cook up your choice of food. Clean up after you are done and make sure the grill is off HOT TUB / JACUZZI We have an outdoor hot tub available for your use. Please note that this will be cold on your arrival and does take a few hours to heat to the optimal temperature. Gas to heat the tub costs so we ask that if you want to use the hot tub just let us know about an hour ahead of time. We do NOT keep it hot 24/7. Our general policy with the tub and heating it is this…. A 3 day stay you can ask us to heat it usually once for YOUR use. ( we use the tub OFTEN so if we are already heating for our use then please join us or come on in after. Your use is when we weren’t going to heat it that day but you would like quiet time in the tub). Outside of that should you want it more often say every night we will ask for a 10.00 upcharge. . SWIMMING POOL We have a swimming pool available for your use. If you encounter any issues with cleanliness or notice any faults, please let us know asap. Please also be careful and mindful of safety in the pool. We are a NO GLASS by the pool. There are several options in the house for alternatives to glass please use those!!
OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION BED LINEN / TOWELS Towels are in the cabinet in your room there are also extras in the closet. Please use those as opposed to getting ones in the cabinets in the hall way. GARBAGE DISPOSAL & RECYCLING Trash goes in the trash can behind the blue door in the kitchen. Cans and bottles are separate in the smallest of the trash cans in the closet. Other recycling can go in the middle one that does not have a bag in it. Lastly we are a composting family! Very simple rule on this process. ALL food garbage that contains NO MEAT of any kind goes in the compost bin on the counter. If you aren’t sure which it is please ask. We use the compost on the property to help provide grass and the plants you see all over! WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A POWER OUTAGE Ask with the hosts to check the power box and if it is a brown out or black out we have no choice but to wait it out. Nice thing is you can still chill by the pool or grill some good supper. We are an OHM hour family. This means that 1 hour at a time UP TO 4 times a week we do shut ALL of the power off. This is done to help the power company better manage the grids and it reduces the change of brown outs. You will be notified when these will occur. We use the time to relax outside, play cards, go for a bike ride or just go grab a cocktail downtown. We appreciate the understanding in this.
SAFETY INFORMATION & RENTAL RULES RULES & REGULATIONS COMPLEX / SUBDIVISION RULES This is a great community that we live in. We ask that you are respectful of our home and our neighbors. This means that you are not loud upon coming in and out of our area. PLEASE BE ALERT! This is a community that kids skate in the street and climb trees and play ball without cell phones!! (like when we were young) Keep them safe by driving careful and being aware of where they are! Say hi they all are very polite kids! PETS Be aware we DO have pets. We are a full home of a mix of dog and cat. We do our best to assure that they leave you be while you are here. Our newest addition is Cody he is a little vocal. He will howl hello. Please know he is saying hello NOT trying to scare you away! QUIET TIMES We are pretty quiet after 1030 pm. We do enjoy our weekends and we don’t mind visiting. NOBODY needs to feel like they have to stay in their room!! Kitchen is closed for meals at 1030! SMOKING POLICY We are strict NON smoking home. This includes on our property. WE ARE A DRUG FREE HOME. While marijuana is legal in California it is not allowed on our property in any capacity. Please respect that we do this for the safety and cleanliness of our home and yard.
SAFETY INFORMATION EMERGENCY EXIT INSTRUCTIONS There are 3 exits in the lower level ONE is the front door SECOND is the patio door THIRD is the garage door. IF using the garage exit in an emergency and the power is off we simply go into the garage and all the way to the right is the outer exit door. We meet out front in the far side of the cul de sac in the event of a fire or evacuation. California does have fires and if we have to evacuate we follow the command of the fire team in the city. Earthquakes also happen. Please in the event of an earthquake come into the inner hallway of the upper floor or the inner hallway by the garage on the lower floor and close the bathroom door. EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS For emergency services please immediately call 414.865.8446. Do not delay if you feel an emergency situation has arisen. SMOKE & CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS We have both smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and both have a battery backup. ALL are tested monthly. Should you hear one please exit according to fire plan.

Favorite Places Tin Fish located under the main pier in oceanside. BEST fish tacos on the coast BCBD located downtown on main drag. Great breakfast American fare big portions Petite Madeline Across from BCBD GREAT breakfast and lunch the deserts there are MOUTHWATERING! Pizza Mountain Mikes YUM! Happy Hour (early) Cabo Grill rooftop drinks 2 for 1 (late) Jalisco both downtown Fun beer place is Barrell Republic you can tap your own and drink all different flavors! STREET FAIR Thursday nights from 5 to 9pm THIS IS where to eat on Thursday! There is EVERY kind of food truck and all of it is delish! There is shopping and goodies too!
LOCAL TRANSPORT BUS STOPS AND TIMETABLES Please check out the metro or oceanside transit. The bus stop is 2 blocks away on papagaillo. CAB / TAXI Truthfully don’t take a taxi lyft and uber are both much cheaper TRAIN STATIONS AND TIMETABLES ALL of the trains as well as greyhound are all downtown on Tremont St!!
