Textile Show’ wind in Bursa, the capital of Textile

Bursa Textile Show Fair, organized for the second time by Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), was held successfully. In the fair organized at Bursa Merinos Atatürk Congress Culture Center, 2-4 April 2019, 400 business professionals from 40 countries held bilateral business meetings. One of the leading cities of textile sector in Turkey, Bursa hosted an important organization that aimed to contribute to the efforts for foreign trade. Led by the BTSO in cooperation with and supports of the Ministry of Commerce and Uludag Textile Exporters Association (UTIB), Bursa Textile Show Fair became an excellent venue for Spring-Summer

fabrics and accessories collections of companies. Bursa Mayor Alinur Aktaş, BTSO Chairman Ibrahim Burkay, BTSO Assembly President Ali Ugur, Yıldırım Municipality Mayor Oktay Yilmaz, UTIB President Pinar Tasdelen Engin, BTSO Board of Directors and members of the Assembly Council and sector representatives attended the opening ceremony.

POWER TO THE FOREIGN TRADE OF THE SECTOR

BTSO Chairman of the Board Ibrahim Burkay said on the occasion, “Let’s Meet in Bursa” is the slogan of this year’s fair. We brought together the important buyers with representatives of the industry under the scope of two separate UR-GE projects. About 400 business professionals attended the fair coming from 40 countries. Organized first as a buying committee program held under a special URGE project, the event now gains an identity as a fair event. I believe that Bursa Textile Show will continue to play an important role in achieving the goals of Bursa textile sector having an export-oriented vision. Bursa has become an important platform where the quality of production and design has been exhibited. We will continue our organizations that develop the competitiveness of our companies in line with the demands of our business

representatives. We will also continue to contribute to the export-oriented growth of our country.”

”FAIRS ARE AS IMPORTANT AS PRODUCING QUALITY GOODS”

Speaking on his part, Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat stated that Bursa, which is one of the most important textile cities and trade centers of the world, is at the forefront in the world textile league. He said, “Textile is an ancient sector from a long past in Bursa. Now it is not enough to produce quality goods and to gain a competitive advantage. In order to promote the products made in the city, is has become mandatory to spend efforts to increase the prestige of companies. Companies have the opportunity to introduce their products and, more importantly, their brands, and new business opportunities to establish new business contacts.” “CONGRATULATIONS BTSO!“

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktas said in his address, “350 business people from 50 countries attended last year and 5 thousand business meetings were made. The fair has contributed to the textile sector this year. BTSO's valueadded efforts for the economy of Bursa are of great advantage for our city. I congratulate Mr. Ibrahim Burkay, the Chairman of the Board of the BTSO and his team for their precious work.”

“SECTOR PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT FOR ONE MILLION”

Speaking on her part, UTİB President Pınar Taşdelen Engin stated that they completed 2018 with 168 billion dollars of exports. She said, “Textile exports increased by 5 percent to $ 8.5 billion. The textile industry which provides employment for about 1

million people, with the producers and exporters, attracts the attention in Turkey's economy as a giant industry. Textile has always been a sector that is open to design and innovations and it should be considered as one of the strengths of the sector. In Bursa Textile Show, which we organize for the second time with the cooperation of Ministry of Commerce, BTSO and UTİB, we bring together 400 foreign buyers and exporters. Despite the challenges in the global economy and the political conjuncture in the world, we will continue our successful efforts for rising opportunities.”

Following the opening speeches, the protocol members visited the exhibition booth and the “Trend Area” that was prepared within the scope of the organization.
