Impressive UTIB info stand at Heimtextil arose great interest
The association developed a special stand to display the selected items of Turkish exhibitors in, Heimtextil / 8-11 January 2019
UTIB (Uludag Textile Exporters’ Association) led an initiation by a stand where it was contributing to the promotion of Turkey’s cultural values, tunes and even the special tastes with an approach of a mission in addition to representing the country’s home textile industry efficiently in all events it participates by offering different talents of Turkey in different disciplines to the visitors. The association developed a special stand to display the selected items of Turkish exhibitors in Heimtextil, the world’s largest textile fair that was participated by 287 Turkish firms. It offered an opportunity to all visitors to touch the fabrics, to study all the products at one spot and to help them in their choice decision in order to lead them to the stands of these firms. Once again, UTIB offered the prestige and large variety of Turkish textiles to the admiration of global visitors. The impact of the UTIB stand has been enforced by the mini edition of a special exhibition called, “Genetic Codes of Turkish Design” which was inspired by Turkish historical values and covered selected samples of a multidisciplinary collection composed of the historical, cultural and modern designs and ideas of all societies lived and have been living in the geography of Turkey.

The wealth of Turkish artisanship and art culture turns out to be unique products at the hands of talented Turkish designers. These products shape the genetic codes of “Turkey Design” and inspire the future designer talents. Developed with passion this collection proves the importance of deep rooted source of designs in the formation of new collections that reflect social rituals, local production techniques, geometric forms, objects, and imprints in a modern global world of designs. Genetic Codes of Turkish Design was presented first in Design Week Turkey 2017 and several influencers, designers, and doyens were interested in. The second edition of the exhibit was repeated in 16-18 November 2018 edition of the same event and was admired again very efficiently. Curated by Gencer Ucar and Arif Eker, the exhibit was now repeated in Heimtextil 2019, in Frankfurt, from 8th to 11th January 2019. The exhibit offered specially selected items from the collection which was formed in the last two years to the visitors. The Info Stand of UTIB was also a venue for the award for Turkey Home Textile Design Accolade, held by the support of Ministry of Commerce and coordinated by UTIB, Uludag Textile Exporters Association, and TIM, Turkish Exporters Assembly. The contest is held on changing themes each year and aims to promote the raising of new designers, and to offer new and value added products to the sector. “Emigration” was the theme of last year’s contest that was given to ReTurn design of Ezgi Vural. Fatma Korkmaz’s Going Back was given the second and Multivers of Ezgi Cavusoglu won the third prize.
All of the works of the trio of the 8th Turkey Home Textile Design Contest were exhibited in Heimtextil Fair, and an armchair upholstered with the Re-Turn fabric produced from the winner Ezgi Vural’s design were also displayed at Heimtextil Fair.
