TOP OF THE WEST TLA AFFILIATE SPOTLIGHT

Greetings from Top of the West Texas Longhorn Association We have been thriving in Southern Idaho, Northwest Utah, and Northern Nevada for over 23 years. Our originating small dedicated group held our first show at the Twin Falls County Fair and met with huge push back from the Beef Department largely because we were different, and that the public absolutely loved us. We have held the public’s curiosity and admiration all these years while we have continued to evolve and grow As we grew and eventually got our own barn which we filled in a very few years.

One of our youth had started the first FFA Longhorn Project over 10 years ago but met with huge resistance when the Beef Judge ejected him from the ring for having horns A few years later we convinced the 4-H to allow a Longhorn Club for one year on a trial basis Cody and Koryl Campbell were the leaders of the first 4-H Longhorn Club in Idaho and the 4th in the United States and the year was a great success They led the way to there now being three Longhorn Clubs and FFA Members in Twin Falls County Cody received the ITLA Unsung Hero award for his leadership and hard work last year.

Top of the West TLA and now three Longhorn 4-H Clubs has outgrown our barn and all other available pen space forcing the cancelation of our open show last year. We now have completed blueprints and are doing fundraising with sponsorships for a new 4-H barn. The Fair Board has saved additional space for our open Entries for this year even if the new barn is not completed by Fair Time

We have exciting times ahead of us because we continue to grow every year The Longhorns are the most sought after and asked about every year and has more non-family spectators in the stands Other counties are learning and want to do what we do because of the excitement that we create. The Dairy exhibits are right next door to us and anytime the parents can’t find their children, they know they are visiting us in the Longhorn barn

Our Top of the West TLA Show is scheduled for Sunday September 4th starting at 9 AM. Dr Justin Sabio from Texas is our Judge this year and we are so excited to have him and his family join us this year. We ask that all of you make plans to come join us for what we believe is the best Texas Longhorn Show in the Circuit Everyone that has been to our show as a Judge, Spectator, or Exhibitor; all want to come again
