355 Schoenbeck Gets Ready for Its New Beginning When planning for our library construction project in 2015, we looked for a way to accurately describe the project we were about to undertake. The renovation project had been in the planning stages since 2010 when we began gathering community information and completing studies to understand the condition of the existing building that needed to be addressed in a final project. As the planning wrapped up and the building plans were finalized it became clear that our space was going to be transformed into a vibrant and active community space for our residents to enjoy for years to come. The renovation tagline, “Building New Beginnings,” is intended to convey that our project is more than simply a change to the physical space — it is the opportunity to shape our services for the future. For the past 18 months, the staff at ITPLD have been hard at work behind the scenes planning the new services in our new spaces. Some of the new services that will be offered include: • Makerspace room to tap into your creativity • Training Lab for an optimum learning environment • ESL Lab for independent language-learning opportunities for non-English speaking residents.

We are tremendously excited to be in the final phase of our renovation and look forward to all the new ways we will be able to serve our community. As we get closer to our pending opening, we will post information about the closing of the temporary library and the reopening at 355 Schoenbeck location. Please check the library’s website, information at the library or sign up for the e-news on our homepage to stay up to date on all of the closing information and grand reopening plans. We look forward to seeing you soon in our renewed space!

Ryann Uden, Deputy Director
Ryann Uden recently joined the Indian Trails Public Library staff as the Deputy Director, where she will coordinate library operations, programs and services. She comes to the library with over 15 years of experience at the Barrington Area Library, where she managed the Youth Services and Circulation/Facility departments. While at Barrington, she played an active role in the library’s extensive renovation project completed in 2013. “I’m excited to be joining the Indian Trails team. The staff are doing an incredible job working together to keep services and materials available to the community while also preparing for the move back to the main library in a few months. I look forward to learning more about this vibrant community over the next weeks and months.” Ryann lives in Arlington Heights with her husband and young son and enjoys visiting national parks and presidential libraries.
