VALENTINE ISSUE
EDITORS LETTER
A
NEW YEAR, NEW LIFE, NEW BEGINNINGS! These words have so much meaning for me. Last year proved to be quite a challenge just as some of you have experienced. I found myself at a dead end job, invested the equity of my home into a business that did not prove profitable which resulted in moving my children out of our home and readjusting to a major downsize of space. I admit I was feeling a little frustrated when I got a call from my daughter and son in law, “She’s on her way. Hurry up and get here.” In the middle of our move, I left the truck in the driveway and set off on a seven hour drive, arriving just in time to welcome a new life into the world, my beautiful, healthy granddaughter. On New Year’s Eve, I found myself holding her, staring at her little face and realizing that she has an entire future ahead of her and so did Grandma. Things might be gone, but the most important things are not. I now have a new love, and a new life. A new life filled with the joys of my family and the years ahead that I can now achieve new accomplishments and goals in my personal life as well as in my career. With over 14 years experience as a realtor in Tampa Bay and more than 25 years of experience in advertising and marketing I bring you IT’s YOUR HOME, your community magazine filled with content and information about all of us. My passion is to help promote our small businesses and provide you the opportunity to buy local. Together as a community, we can all work together to bring back that hometown feel. Everyone of us has a story…you’ve heard mine, what’s yours?

YOUR REAL ESTATE SOURCE
Debbie Dawson Fl Luxury Realty ® Why You Should Work With a REALTOR®
N
ot all real estate practitioners are REALTORS®. The term REALTOR® is a registered trademark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics. Here are five reasons why it pays to work with a REALTOR®. 1. You’ll have an expert to guide you through the process. Buying or selling a home usually requires disclosure forms, inspection reports, mortgage documents, insurance policies, deeds, and multi-page settlement statements. A knowledgeable expert will help you prepare the best deal, and avoid delays or costly mistakes. 2. Get objective information and opinions. REALTORS® can provide local community information on utilities, zoning, schools, and more. They’ll also be able to provide objective information about each property. A professional will be able to help you answer these two important questions: Will the property provide the environment I want for a home or investment? Second, will the property have resale value when I am ready to sell? 3. Find the best property out there. Sometimes the property you are seeking is available but not actively advertised in the market, and it will take some investigation by your REALTOR® to find all available properties. 4. Benefit from their negotiating experience. There are many negotiating factors, including but not limited to price, financing, terms, date of possession, and inclusion or exclusion of repairs, furnishings, or equipment. In addition, the purchase agreement should provide a period of time for you to complete appropriate inspections and investigations of the property before you are bound to complete the purchase. Your agent can advise you as to which investigations and inspections are recommended or required. 5. Property marketing power. Real estate doesn’t sell due to advertising alone. In fact, a large share of real estate sales comes as the result of a practitioner’s contacts through previous clients, referrals, friends, and family. When a property is marketed with the help of a REALTOR®, you do not have to allow strangers into your home. Your REALTOR®
will generally prescreen and accompany qualified prospects through your property. 6. Real estate has its own language. If you don’t know a CMA from a PUD, you can understand why it’s important to work with a professional who is immersed in the industry and knows the real estate language. 7. REALTORS® have done it before. Most people buy and sell only a few homes in a lifetime, usually with quite a few years in between each purchase. And even if you’ve done it before, laws and regulations change. REALTORS®, on the other hand, handle hundreds of real estate transactions over the course of their career. Having an expert on your side is critical. 8. Buying and selling is emotional. A home often symbolizes family, rest, and security — it’s not just four walls and a roof. Because of this, home buying and selling can be an emotional undertaking. And for most people, a home is the biggest purchase they’ll ever make. Having a concerned, but objective, third party helps you stay focused on both the emotional and financial issues most important to you. 9. Ethical treatment. Every member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of REALTORS® makes a commitment to adhere to a strict Code of Ethics, which is based on professionalism and protection of the public. As a customer of a REALTOR®, you can expect honest and ethical treatment in all transaction-related matters. It is mandatory for REALTORS® to take the Code of Ethics orientation and they are also required to complete a refresher course every four years. ©2010 NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. Over years of Professional Experience
My name is Donna Ferrante and I am the owner of The Cleaning Angels. We are a cleaning service that is located in Pasco County. We also service Pinellas & Hernando Counties and are now expanding into Hillsborough. I am originally from Gorham, a small town in the white mountains of New Hampshire, where hard work, honesty and dependability are part of our everyday routine. Being half Italian & half French Canadian makes for perfection in every way! I come from a family of entrepreneurs. My family has an Italian restaurant that is in it’s 65th year of business and is going into a 5th generation. The dedication and success in my cleaning business is due to the closeness of my wonderful family. I am proud and honored to say that I am following in the footsteps of my parents and grandparents. “We know how to cook, clean and we give 100% to the business.” Besides the influence of my family, I attribute the success of my company to a determined attitude, a tremendous amount of ambition and meticulous attention to detail which is all accompanied by an unstoppable drive. After 14 years of cleaning on my own, I now have a team of great girls that I refer to as “My Cleaning Angels”. Move over Charlie, Donna has Angels too! We are not the everyday cleaning service, as many of my competitors are; we are an extremely detailed cleaning service. Using the basic principles of mutual respect combined with good old-fashion elbow grease, the angels produce homes with a heavenly sparkle. Our customers love our back-to-basics, old-fashion cleaning techniques. From top to bottom, corner to corner, and everywhere in between. As owner of this business, I know what my customers are looking for and what they expect from a cleaning service. They want a detailed cleaning, but one that is also affordable. I make sure that my “Angels” have enough time to spend in each and every home, to get the proper job done. We go to extra lengths such as removing knobs from your stove, cleaning the light bulbs in your vanity, getting in between the tight space of your washer and dryer, the dust that accumulates above your medicine cabinet, and even the tracks of your sliding glass doors. If you would like a FREE estimate, allow us to make your life easier by giving us a call today. We offer weekly, biweekly, monthly, move-in and move-outs, and commercial cleaning. If you’re unhappy with your current service or if you’re looking for the best, call The Cleaning Angel Cleaning Service today at 727-942-8289. We are Licensed, Bonded and Insured.
Everyone should have an “Angel”. Today it is a necessity for many families and the cost is included in the household budget

MIND BODY & SPIRIT
CHASING RAINBOWS OF THE
HEART
By Barbara Marville-Kelly
G
od’s paintbrush to the miracle masterpiece and wonder called “LIFE” can be an exciting, thought provoking and positive metaphor in helping us gain insight and learn the lessons to be learned.
Barbara Marville-Kelly Television Host Mind/Body/Spirit Coach Author:”Chasing Rainbows of the Heart” www.barbaramarville.com www.theproductnetwork.com
Defying Age, Inc. Dennis Kelly Author “The Six Steps to the Fountain of Youth” Certified HeartMath Peak Performance Coach, Sport Nutritionist, Grand Master Tai Chi Kung www.dennis-kelly.com
Looking back over the years I felt that I somehow was “chasing rainbows”, as they would seem to suddenly appear during the various stormy sides in my life and not just after the rains. It was almost like “divine intervention” taking hold, as if saying, “never give up, keep the faith, all will be well”. It was during my own self discovery that I realized, “each one of us decides to incarnate upon this planet at particular points in time and space. We have chosen to come here to learn a particular lesson that will advance us on our spiritual, evolutionary pathway” quoted by Louise Hay. Thus “Chasing Rainbows of the Heart” was conceived. With a plan that was divinely expressed to me in areas of self growth and development and revealing this plan through the mind/body/spirit map, in a way that I could follow and pay it forward through the amazing wonder of what I call the “seven miracles” of the energy wheels in the human body, also known as “chakras”. It all must begin with a “power of choice”, choosing to find our “purpose and passion”, make a difference in our own life experiences and sharing with
others. By having our body in balance and aligned with our entire being and energy system, this is what has worked for me, and it gives me great pleasure to share with you. Our 1st energy wheel or root chakra (base of the spine) brush stroke number 1 and associated with the color red, symbolizes strength, the root and foundation, grounded in faith, basic needs of a healthy body in balanced harmony, using the mind as the map, the body as the vehicle as the map (compass of direction), the body as the vehicle (how we get there) and the spirit as the fuel (keeps us going). 2nd chakra (lower abdomen) orange represents the beauty of a sunset, concerns with change, creativity, free flow of energy, to see beauty in people and develop our own talents and treasures we have been blessed with. 3rd chakra, Solar Plexis (gut, naval, core) yellow, the color of the sun, always an uplifting warm whisper, inner power to shape our lives, identifies with personal power, our sense of place in the world, confidence in ourselves, our self-esteem, ability to stand by our strong passions and carry out our authenticity by the way we show up in the world, being true to ourselves, courage and strength to be who we are and to live the way we were born to live. 4th chakra (heart) green and the color representing prosperity and growth, the “HEART”
chakra, and the most powerful! Unconditional love for self and others. Rainbows are made of sun, rain, fire and water…the “divine” elements of baptism and growth. The HEART truly is our power source and supply that knows all! Inner peace from a conscious decision to engage our will and direct love to all those around us, the Inner sense of knowingness! The HEART is the center of the “wonder and miracles” of God’s masterpiece of life! 5th chakra (throat) color blue and connected to blue skies. Expression and communication, thoughtfulness, higher creative arts, balance of communication is key to making it known in life. 6th chakra (above the eyebrows) indigo (deep rich color of the sea) intuition, clear seeing, becoming more aware of our extrasensory perception, where imagination and inner sight meet. 7th chakra, the crown chakra (top of head) color violet associates with “THE DIVINE”, or ENLIGHTENMENT”, our ultimate goal, to be enlightened, insight, inner knowing and self realization, the home of our spirituality and our connection with the divine. “To know one life has breathed easier because I have lived, then I have succeeded!” Emerson I hope this chapter or even some small message of “Chasing Rainbows” has helped you breathe easier. ~Barbara

SHOPPING GUIDE
The age old question between man and woman.... What is right and wrong for Valentine’s Day! By Kristin Vogt
S
o many people in society have it set in their minds that the man must pamper his love with fine wine, red roses and expensive jewelry. Oh, wait one minute, if you thought I was going to let you off the hook boys, your sadly mistaken! Yet I do think it doesn’t always have to be roses, there is a wide range of flowers to choose from. They all have true meaning behind each and every one, depending on which one you choose, color might even play a role in what you are saying to the one you love! Anemone - a dying love A yellow Crocus worn in the buttonhole on St. Valentine’s day will entice your future intended love Daisy - innocence Forget-me-not - true love and constancy Fuchsia - elegance Lily - purity Pansy - loving thoughts Periwinkle - early friendship Poppy - consolation Snowdrop - hope Sunflower - warmth of feeling Tulip - a declaration of powerful love(red), hopeless love (yellow)
Roses:
Red - true love White - I love you not Yellow - jealousy Pink - innocent love and happiness Orange - I love you vigorously Purple - I will love you forever Wild rose - uncontrollable desire Moss rose - I admire you from afar As for the wine and jewelry, it works both ways, although these days I would trade a diamond ring, just for my husband to do the laundry and be me for a week! Alright, I guess I started to daydream for a second, now back to reality. Married for 23 years, If Valentine’s Day falls on the weekend, preferably on a Saturday, we will do something, otherwise, just another day---with cards!! Said Nikki, one of our local readers!
18
But what if you are still looking for your one true love? Where do you even begin? A dating site, a singles group, a blind date or happy hour with friends…. That would be the way most would, but not all would! What about a Love Spell to drawn that special someone in?
To discover your true love before you go to sleep put bay leaves on the corners of your pillow, and one in the centre. Close your eyes and repeat these words 7 times, counting up to seven between each repetition: Dear Guardian Angel, Let me have what I so earnestly do crave A Valentine imbued with love, who will both true and constant prove. Your true love should appear to you in a dream.
To attract love into your life using a thorn from a white rose bush, scratch the words: ‘All my love come to me’ 3 times on a white candle and light it. Watch as the candle burns down, and picture your love coming to embrace you. When the candle burns down, collect the wax and wrap it up. You should soon receive all the love that this person has for you. The true fact of the matter is when it comes to Valentine’s Day, men, woman and children of all ages dated back to 270 A.D. expected to be showered with chocolate, jewelry, flowers, romance and of course true love! Singles would hope for cupid to strike and not to take it away when the clock strikes midnight. This year don’t worry and feel like you’re the outcast if you are single. You’re single because you haven’t found that special someone yet and did not settle for the wrong someone. Give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy the day with someone special to you! As for all you couples out there, don’t pay attention to what the world expects on the big day. Make the day special for you and your loved one. Weather it is staying in relaxing with a movie of choice, jewelry, flowers, candy, a maid for the day or going to the fair and being kids again! Just have fun and remember just because one day of the year comes with a title of love doesn’t mean you can’t make every other day of the year the same!

Clothing and Accessories • Find a pair of red satin shoes and pair it with a simple black dress and a great red lip color with lots of shine! • Pair a great red purse with a sexy red flower in your hair or broach. • If red isn’t your color—try a sweet subtle pink. • Try fabrics that drape or satin with gathers • Deep color florals are great for Valentines—they’re on trend and hot!

Salon Extras • Head over to your salon for a French manicure or hot red nails! • Eyelash extensions are great for special occasions, they last several weeks and are an amazing accessory! Everyone will love how radiant you look, but won’t be able to tell you exactly what it is that is giving you that extra sparkle! Hair and Make Up • Add a Liquid Illuminator to your foundation for a brightened glow. • Pair a dark smoky eye look with a nude lip. • If you normally wear your hair straight, add some volumous curls with hot rollers for the evening—this will add a whimsical dreamy feel. The Key: You’ll want to select one or two of the ideas here from each category. When you are adding some sexy red or pink—do it sparingly with just your shoes and lips or just the hair flower or broach and purse. Remember that red fingernails count as an accessory—no more than two red accessories are best. If your dress is red—then red shoes or nails should be the only other reds. When you are wearing black the red or pink accents look extra sexy. All in all—if you are happy on the inside and feel good about yourself all you’ll need for the final touch is a gorgeous smile and loving attitude. This is the time for patients, love, compassion, and giving. Have a wonderful Valentines and remember that these ideas can be used for any special occasion this season.

Who Benefits From Vaginal Cosmetic Surgery
By Dr. Gerard Cappiello
V
aginal rejuvenation is the fastest growing area of cosmetic surgery due to women becoming aware of the deforming genital effects of childbirth, weight fluctuations, tissue laxity, and anatomic deformities that can be corrected by cosmetic vaginal procedures. As an urogynecologist, I have performed thousands of restorative vaginal procedures. Any woman who has given vaginal birth knows that her vagina is not the same. Vaginal birth causes an incredible amount of stress and damage to the birth canal and surrounding tissue. It is especially difficult for white women. It is estimated that 65% of all white women that gave birth vaginally have some sort of pelvic dysfunction and pelvic trauma. It is also estimated that if the baby weighs greater than 8 pounds we had 5% to the 65%. And if the woman was subject to an episiotomy or forceps we would add 5% respectively for a total of another 10% risk to the pelvis. We estimate that 30% of women who gave birth vaginally will also have rectal dysfunction and or fecal loss. With these statistics it is no wonder that women seek help in restoring not only the vaginal function and anatomy but also their sexuality. The most common problem is pelvic floor dysfunction which can lead to urinary incontinence; pelvic prolapsed as well as many other types of problems. The vagina has become lax, bulging and gaping. The perineum which is the area between
Financing Available All Credit Cards Accepted
the vagina and the rectum has become smaller and therefore approximating the vagina to the rectum. This is a very important area where the bulbocavernosus muscles and the transverse perineal muscles are able to contract the vagina and therefore reduce its’ caliber. When these muscles are broken the vaginal axis is destroyed. Pain may occur because of the scar tissue. This is also known as vestibulitis which is a very common and debilitating condition that affects many women. With aging, many changes occur as well, some may be very painful. Many times tears during childbirth may extend anteriorly. Of course bladder hernias or cystoceles along with hernias of the rectum called rectoceles are also important to correct in order to restore the vagina to a pre-delivery state. In summary, cosmetic surgery is for almost all women. The trauma to the pelvic structures is very real. The American College of OB/GYN has declared a new subspecialty called Female Pelvic Health and Pelvic Reconstruction. I have been performing pelvic reconstruction for over 20 years and I train other physicians these new techniques in not only cosmetic surgery but also reconstructive surgery. The New Face Lift
by Dr. Gerard Cappiello
Brow Surgery and Fat Transfer to the Face
A
ging changes the features of our face. These changes result from descent of our eyebrows and the loss of facial fat. In both males and females, aging causes the eyebrows to droop and overlap the eyelids while the loss of facial fat causes the grooves and wrinkles. The traditional face lift is not for everyone and better left to the patient that has a real need for the more involved procedure. Most patients, before retirement age, may do well with a less invasive intervention. Having droopy upper eyelids does not always mean you need eyelid surgery. Many patients simply need their eyebrows suspended back to their more youthful position. The drooping can actually be worsened if too much eyelid skin is removed in a patient with sagging brows. The removal of the eyelid skin (blephraplasty) may make a brow lifting procedure in the future impossible. It is important for the surgeon and patient to understand what is the real cause of the problem. For these reasons, brow lift surgery must always be considered before any surgery is done.
special sterile process are gently added to the fat cells without injuring them. As with the brow lift, the areas of the face are anesthetized with local anesthesia and the fat is then tranplanted using great patience and care. Fat transfer is economical and totally natural. The proceedures are minimally invasive, offer a rapid recovery and are affordable. The results from the brow lift alone or combined with fat transfer are fantastic, satisfying and long lasting. Post operatively there is minimal discomfort because the anesthesia can last up to 36 hours. The results are subtle and not overwhelming. Healing is usually complete in 5-7 days so most patients are quickly back at work looking great!
If you want to look younger and you were never told about a brow lift and fat transfer you were in the wrong place. HEALTH & WELLNESS
5 Keys to Being Heart Healthy in 2011
T
his year, when making your resolutions, why not make our heart-healthy New Year’s resolutions to have a substantial impact on your health in 2011 - and beyond.
1. Know your cholesterol – Cholesterol is the classic, best-known risk
Jessica Allen
factor for coronary heart disease. Too much cholesterol damages artery walls, ultimately leading to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. There are two types of cholesterol: LDL, (bad cholesterol), and HDL, (good cholesterol). It is important to know your numbers. Your HDL should be greater than 45 for men and greater than 55 for women. Your LDL should be less than 100.
2. Exercise. Sure, maybe you’ve made many resolutions before to hit the gym. But this year, why
not resolve to specifically focus on improving your physical fitness solely to help your heart? To gain the health benefits of exercise, you should aim for 30 minutes of moderate activity at least three days a week.
3. Know your family history. It’s important to know specifics about your loved ones’ heart health – for
instance, was your mother or sister diagnosed with heart or vascular disease before age 65? Your own risk of cardiovascular disease increases if you have a family history of the disease.
4. If you smoke, stop! Cigarette smokers have approximately one and a half to two times the risk of
developing heart disease than non-smokers. There is good evidence that quitting can reduce the risk of heart disease, perhaps as early as one to two years after quitting.
5.
Embrace heart-healthy eating. Instead of beginning this year with yet another fad diet, vow never to diet again. Weight loss can only be achieved when you shift your mind-set from being “on a diet” to being on an eating plan for life.

THE MOST LOVING
DECISION
H
by Dr. Gayle Burrell
aving been a veterinarian here in Florida for many years, I know how difficult it can be to take your pet to the clinic even for routine visits. They are often scared, shaking and sometimes painful, and this can start before you have even left the house. Cats especially don’t usually appreciate leaving their comfort zone. The decision to euthanize your pet is a very emotional one, and yet it is the most loving decision you can make for them when the time comes. Unfortunately the drive to the clinic, waiting in the lobby, facing other clients when you leave, and the drive home alone can make an already traumatic experience even worse. After the peaceful experience of euthanizing a friends pet at their home and more recently one of my own, I realized that this was a service I could offer your beloved pet that would eliminate a lot of undue stress and help make their last moments quiet, peaceful and pain free. My hours are flexible to accommodate the needs of both you and your pet and cremation services are provided than can include the return of ashes in a nice urn of your choice. Please check out my website www.GentlePetPassings.com which will explain and answer most of your questions. Also feel free to call or email me for more information.

Dark or bittersweet chocolates need a wine that offers a roasted, slightly robust flavor itself, with perhaps a hint of its own chocolate notes. Dan recommends a more "NEW WORLD" (a more fruit forward with a bit more weight usually found in California) Cabernets and Zinfandels have a history of perfecting the dark chocolate match, resulting in an unparalleled tasting combination. Also consider a Pinot Noir or a Merlot to handle dark chocolate around the 55% cocoa mark. Finally, give a Tawny or Vintage Port a go to offer a very well balanced pairing approach to a dark Chocolate…My favorite choices for this dessert because of the delightful raspberry toppings:

The year 1973 was a landmark one for me. My father became ill, and I remember thinking that someone had to take care of the family. So I left, in my junior year, the University in NYC and bought a service station Dealership on Long Island-falling back on basic mechanical courses I had taken at a technical night school in Greece. Business was disappointing at first, but then the Arab embargo hit, and being a new Dealer with a higher allocation of fuel, I was able to take care of the area residents by providing them with gas. Strict orders to the employees were issued: “no one is to charge more than what the pump indicates.” The customers did not forget! In 1974 a home was purchased, in 1977 I tied the knot with my wife Maria, in 1978 our daughter Helen was born and a home for my parents was purchased. Having operated the station for several years, lack of room for expansion prompted us to sell out and enter a new phase. In April 1979 we bought a Supermarket in Brooklyn. Two years later, long hours, the pressure of raising a family and the neighborhood deterioration, prompted us to sell the business and the house, and try a fresh start elsewhere, just as my father did when the family left Greece for a better life. Maria and I, looked at the Tampa Bay area, liked it, and settled in Tarpon Springs, where our Greek background, made my parents and our family feel at home. Looking for a business opportunity, in 1982, we bought a Service station in St. Petersburg. Being aware that the lease will not be renewed we managed to purchase an acre of land and started planning for something of our own, big enough, so we wouldn’t have to worry about expansion and leases. Two years later our family grew, our son Kosta was born, time to expand the business! After carefully developed plans, (falling back to my University years as an Architecture major), for a large Auto Repair Facility, we started construction in April 1986. Shortly thereafter Union 76 Officials contacted us and we agreed to modify the plans and open the first Tire Store, east of Mississippi, using the logo of the oil company. Mid October we closed the St Petersburg station, and on Nov. 3rd the new facility was opened. The new state of the art equipment and an attractive get acquainted offer, as a draw, we performed 78 oil changes the very first day of business. Jumping up to a 4000 square foot facility from a service station was a big move; we had no one to tell us if it would work. That first day proved that it would.
Twenty five years later, we at Five Star Auto Repair are celebrating our 25th anniversary. We are proud of our accomplishments, but we are especially thankful to our customers and consider them as friends. At Five Star Auto Repair we try to get involved in the community, including our support for the 60 member Chorus at Gulfside Elementary, and other institutions. Five Star Auto Repair is an AAA Approved Auto Repair facility, in the waiting room you can see pictures of baseball and soccer teams we have sponsored, whereas the wall behind the counter is full of ASE and Master Tech Certificates. But most importantly, Alan (the top tech at Five Star Auto Repair), and myself have 75 years of combined experience. Both of us grew up in the days where “full service” was the rule not the exception. We at Five Star Auto Repair believe that the quality of repairs, Honesty and fair price are the key factors that provide the best service for our customers. No mechanics are on “Commission”, for two main reasons. 1) No unneeded service or repairs are done; 2) By working together the jobs are done right on time, and done right the first time! Today, considering the economic downturn, business has been good, and we are thankful for the many blessings, but most importantly, we are thrilled at having had the opportunity to create a family business. We, also provide RV & Boat Storage, U-Haul rentals and Propane for homes, commercial accounts and motor homes. Thank you so much for the trust and confidence that you have placed on us over the past 25 years. In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, we have launched a web site at:

t’s February and love isn’t the only thing in the “air”. Aside from chocolates, flowers, and beautiful bling, millions of people will also receive special emails this Valentine’s Day. Anxious to see just what our loved ones have sent, unsuspecting people will click on these emails and become infected with any one of the latest, love suggesting viruses, worms, Trojans etc. Yes, spammers and hackers love holidays too. Be cautious. Not all of these emails will come from those we know. They may suggest that a seemingly harmless Valentine Card is attached or that they contain a Valentine joke.

Ward off these “love bugs” by making sure that your AntiVirus is both sufficient and up to date. “You get what you pay for” really is true. Without naming names, countless computers sporting free AV software or a less than sufficient purchased software come across our benches, each loaded with viruses, spyware and/or malware. Some of these computers have been slowed to a crawl while others have been rendered completely inoperable. Make sure to have robust AV protection in place to keep your system clean and even more important, your data safe. Not sure if you are covered? Give us a call at 727-372-1410. We’re here to help. Happy Valentine’s Day!

T.E.A.R.S. Foundation
T
he T.E.A.R.S Foundation was founded in November 2010 by Sandy Kocab. To most around the community she is well known as the mother of Officer Jeff Kocab, the fallen officer in last year’s horrific fatal traffic stop. The T.E.A.R.S. Foundation was organized because after the Kocab’s grief they realized that there is no other organization/foundation that aids the extended family members of Fallen Heroes. Extended family member are considered parents and siblings of the Officers. Somehow through her tragedy, this amazing and beautiful woman found hope in helping others.
The foundation has already held three successful car washes. They washed everything from a fiberglass boat and trailer, to a wrecker, and two bicycles. They held the last two car washes at the Kissimmee Police Department. The Kissimmee Explorers helped scrub, spray, and yelled for cars (with McGruff’s help).
Annually, Washington, D.C. hosts a national memorial service that honors police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty during the previous year. Most financial efforts focus on the widows and surviving children, as it should be. However, all of the members of the family; parents and siblings desire to attend the memorial. T.E.A.R.S. (Travel Expenses and Reservations for Survivors) is a nonprofit organization created to assist families from Florida needing to travel and attend the national ceremony honoring their loved ones. In 2012 the T.E.A.R.S. Foundation will be able to send extended family members of Central Florida to Washington, D.C. for the National Police Memorial Week held in May.
