Chill Out & Boost Your Mood with
Aromatherapy You may have heard of aromatherapy before, but you may not know what it actually entails. Aromatherapy is exactly what it sounds like: The use of natural oils and scents in order to boost your psychological and physical well- being.
You’re probably thinking, “How can just the scent of something benefit me?” You’ll likely be shocked to find out that aromatherapy is actually proven to have tons of benefits such as reducing anxiety and stress, boosting energy levels and inducing a good night’s sleep. Stay with us while we explain this scientifically… According to 21drops, when you breathe in a therapeutic scent, it alerts the limbic system in the brain. The limbic system is the system that alerts your endocrine and nervous systems. The endocrine system regulates things like your mood and metabolism and your nervous system controls your body’s awareness. With that in mind, it’s also super easy to use aromatherapy right at home. Here are three different ways you can de-stress with scents. 1. Candles Candles are a great way to incorporate relaxing scents into a space. Try scents such as lavender or mint, as they are especially great for clearing the mind during stressful times. You can burn them while studying or even while in a bath. Just remember: Always be careful around open flames! 2. Scent diffusers If your parental figures aren’t okay with you burning candles in your room, oil diffusers are just as great. The reeds soak in the scented oil and continuously release the scent, making it so there’s no need for a flame. You can find these anywhere you buy candles, too, so they’re super convenient. Decor tip: They even look super cute on desks or bedside tables. 3. Bath oils What’s better than a warm bath, right? Next time, try taking some oil and putting just a few drops into the running water. The scent will lift out of the bath and soak into your skin as well. This method of aromatherapy can also help circulation and physical balance. Since you’re already chilled out in the bath, put on your favorite movie and drift off into “me time” mode. Taylor Made to a Tee by Debra Taylor Tee
This time of year is my time to celebrate! It’s not because kiddos are back in school, because my babies have four legs and fur. However, we’ve cruised through summer, and we’re transitioning into fall, and I have had – and will have – many opportunities to rejoice in my own personal fulfillment, but also in the happiness of others… My husband turned 50 this summer, and we were the same age until I reached my 51st, on August 30. We celebrate our third anniversary on October 5th. Wooooo! My late brother’s adopted son, Chris, got a full scholarship to play football for the University of Louisville, and will be playing cornerback. He’s worked very hard for this, and I couldn’t be more proud! #CTY #26 #GoCards I have seven amazing nieces and nephews, each with their own personalities, styles and talents, and I am #1of2ProudTaylorAunts My last (and favorite) “Taylor” uncle celebrated another birthday in July, and because he is constantly battling skin cancer, I am very grateful he is still with us.

Face Mask
All-natural and organic leaves skin feeling moisturized, glowy & exfoliated.
Ingredients: • 1 tsp coconut oil • 2 tbsp honey
Instructions:
• 1 tbsp green tea leaves (or about ½ the leaves that come in 1 tea bag) • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
• Mix together honey, coconut oil, lemon juice & green tea leaves using a fork or whisk, thoroughly mix together so coconut oil is not separating. • Using your finger or a cotton swab, spread evenly on face. • Let sit 5-10 mins, rinse off w/warm water & apply your favorite moisturizer.
I reunited with a dear friend from high school after nearly 33 years. She has been battling cancer for a long time, and she just found out it has spread… and is stage four. I am immensely grateful to have reconnected with her, thanks to Facebook, and I will celebrate our time together and her life for as long as I live! Two of my cousins “children” are preparing to get married within three weeks of each other! Both couples are wonderful young men & women, and they have been together for a number of years. Seeing them take their commitments to the next level is truly a joy! A dear friend turned 75 years-old, recently, and my husband and I were able to surprise him and attend the festivities! Hometown HERO A GENEROUS CONTRIBUTOR TO THE PASCO COMMUNITY Alice Degardo, United Way of Pasco County “Be the change you want to see in the world.” – Ghandi Alice Delgardo says if she could change one thing in the world, it would be to convert hatred to love. Most of us probably feel the same way, but Alice actually strives to spread love and good-will throughout our community in everything she does. As Vice President of Community Impact for Pasco United Way, Alice demonstrates strength through leadership and support of the organization, as well as Pasco County as a whole. She is perfectly-suited for this position, because her background in administration and community service is extensive. Alice is originally from Boston, MA, where she graduated with a master’s degree in education from Cambridge College. A 20-year veteran of administrative and financial management, as well as public health programming, Alice has participated in focus groups designed for the betterment of Boston area schools and colleges. She served as a board member of the Mayor’s Commission on Women’s Issues, and was instrumental as a co-leader of the public/private sector partnership coordinating the 1990 visit of former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, to Boston. Now a resident o Holiday, Alice, is not only a member of the executive team of the local chapter of United Way, she also serves with the Community Service Council of West Pasco, Rotary Club of Holiday, Healthy Start Coalition of Pasco County, and the Junior Service League of Greater New Port Richey. Her dedication to family and community is far-reaching. Alice explains, “What brings me the greatest joy is serving others. Whether it be my family, working at United Way of Pasco County, becoming a Rotarian (Rotary Club of Holiday), or serving in other capacities.” Furthermore, when you ask Alice, “How are you today?” her response is always, “Grateful.”

Each day, she rises early to spend time in worship, praise, prayer, and gratitude to God for her work with United Way of Pasco County and her community. “I am grateful to work with a caring, dedicated and talented team of individuals to provide a better way for the people of our County,” Alice confessed. She walks a grounded, spiritual walk as a community servant, as well as a licensed, ordained minister of World Christianship Ministries in Fresno, CA. She has performed more than 1500 non-denominational weddings in the Tampa Bay area as a minister, notary and officiant. Family and community are paramount in Alice’s life. Her definition of “community” is simple. Community consists of a group of people who are willing to give of their selves, their time, and their resources to help others. “My greatest accomplishment is instilling the values of community in my children, whereby they are dedicated to their families and serving in the community.” Alice stated. Alice and her late husband Dennis raised three beautiful, intelligent children, all of whom became college graduates. Additionally, if that weren’t reason enough to be proud, she also embraces being a doting grandmother! She expresses no regrets in life and genuinely appreciates the experiences she’s had. Alice uses them as a “springboard” to help create a better future for her family and our community. Why Do I Need Title Insurance? You need title insurance because there is an infinite number of circumstances than can affect title. Meaning under any one of the following circumstances, an individual or entity can actually file a law suit and threaten your ownership or interest in the property. These circumstances can include but are not limited to: 1. Lost heirs or interest(s) in the property – meaning if any of the deeds in the previous chain of title are not executed, acknowledged or recorded correctly, it can leave a loophole for a prior owner or descendant of an owner to make a claim and challenge your ownership or interest in the property. 2. Unsatisfied, incorrectly satisfied or illegally satisfied mortgages, encumbrances, and liens in the back chain of title. – an easy way to describe this …is it protects you against “FRAUD” a good example of fraud – is people that have illegally filed a satisfaction to a mortgage with the intent of securing new financing and running with the money. The mortgage was never actually paid off. Should you decide not to pay for title insurance, and you buy that property, you can now expect to pay for that mortgage. 3. Municipal liens – some liens are not recorded of public record. Meaning if you buy a property at a foreclosure auction and no title insurance is provided – you can expect to pay for someone else’s code enforcement, utility, open permit problems, and/or paving assessment debts before you will be able to flip or sell the house. 4. Boundary line disputes, sinkhole properties – very common in Pasco County. Above all other reasons to have a professional title search done – is to make sure there have been no “notice of sinkhole” documents filed against the very property you are thinking about purchasing. I’m sure that’s enough said on this subject. 5. Judgments and” keeping up with the Jones’” – as you probably know many people do not live within their means and in today’s economy they are facing judgments for significant credit card debt. Many people cannot or will not pay their child support, alimony or federal tax liens. These judgment liens, if filed correctly, do not leave the property when the previous owner signs off on the deed. No title insurance, means no protection against someone else’s responsibilities. Simple as that. This is just a handful of reasons to purchase title insurance. Owner’s Title Insurance is a one-time premium (usually paid by the seller) and will protect you for the entire time you own your home. In Florida it is customary for the seller to pay for the Owner’s Title insurance and in most cases it was purchased for you when you bought the property.

In Kitchens, the Design May Trump Cooking Home owners continue to invest in their kitchens but cooking appears to be coming in secondary to the design of the space, according to the latest American Institute of Architects’ Home Design Trends Survey which focused on kitchen and bath design trends.
“The major point of emphasis in kitchen design nowadays revolves less around actual cooking activities,” says AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker.” Rather, home owners are looking for kitchens that are gathering spots for family and entertaining, as well as serving as a hub for electronic devices and recharging stations.” The following are some of the most popular kitchen products and features identified by architects in the latest AIA survey: • LED lighting • Computer area/recharging station • Larger pantry space • Upper-end appliances • Double island • Adaptability/universal design • Drinking water filtration systems As for bathroom remodeling, accessibility requirements and energy efficiency are driving more household redesigns. Why Should I Keep My Tax Records? In most cases, tax returns are processed by the IRS and accepted without issue. However, on occasion, the IRS will audit a tax return. Audits can occur shortly after a return is filed, or they can occur several years later. In addition, some people eventually notice that they have completed a tax return incorrectly. When this occurs, you can use your tax records to file an amended return. Both audits and amended returns must be completed within a specific period after a tax return is filed. Now that they are established and have more experience, they think they don’t get as much out of their membership as they once did. They are right, sort of. What they had not considered was that early on in their business, the chamber helped them build their network and learn from more experienced business people. Their business has transitioned from a new business that needed help to a business that has the experience that can help others. It is time to “pay it forward”. The first chamber of commerce was formed in 1599 in Marseille, France. The first English speaking chamber was in New York City in 1768. They were formed to serve as a unified voice for the business community. The chamber was, and continues to be an avenue for businesses to collectively solve problems or address common concerns. This core mission often gets lost (by members and even chambers) among the events and networking, but it is no less important today than it was 400 years ago. For the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce to accomplish this core mission we need support from the businesses that we represent and serve. We need financial support and we need input from members regarding local and state issues and concerns. To be “the voice” of the business community, we need to better understand what you want to say. She clarified, “I have a cosmetology license, paralegal associate’s degree, and a business management bachelor’s degree. I was always interested in music but only began getting serious about it around three years ago.” Del and Ilene also manage three other businesses in addition to the band. They manage a sign and printing company; an online T-shirt shop specializing in humorous pet-related tees for humans; and their newest venture is “Your Beauty Coach Pro for Acti-Labs”, which is a French-made line of all-natural, spa quality affordable cosmetics, skincare, and body wraps. “It’s a bit of a juggling act sometimes, but we try to focus on what is important for each day. Get Your Forks Ready to Twirl Because This Meal Wins the Gold 30 MINUTE SHRIMP PASTA PRIMAVERA WITH ZOODLES Whole wheat spaghetti and zucchini noodles tossed in tomato basil sauce with shrimp, peppers, spinach, herbs and parmesan cheese. A nutritious weeknight meal that comes together in only 30 minutes! INGREDIENTS • ²/³ lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined • 6 oz. whole wheat spaghetti • 2 large zucchinis, spiralized • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into thin strips • 3 generous handfuls of fresh baby spinach • 4 cloves of garlic, minced • 1 shallot, minced • 2 tsp butter • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil • 1½ cups jarred tomato basil sauce • ¼ cup Italian parsley, roughly chopped • 3 tbsp fresh basil, rougly chopped • 3 tbsp parmesan cheese • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes - optional • Sea salt and black pepper to taste INSTRUCTIONS 1. Spiralize zucchini into zoodles. Set aside. 2. Heat a large pot of salted water over high heat. Once boiling, add pasta, cook until al dente. 3. While the pasta cooks, add olive oil to a large non-stick skillet, turn up to medium heat. Once hot, add bell pepper, saute until softened, ~4-5 minutes. Add spinach during final minute,cook until wilted. Transfer to a plate. Add 1 tsp butter, shallot & garlic to pan. Saute for ~1-2 minutes, stirring often to prevent burning. Transfer to plate. Add remaining tsp of butter & shrimp to pan. Lightly season with salt & pepper, cook for ~2-3 minutes per side, or until no longer opaque. Once shrimp are cooked, add peppers, spinach, garlic & shallot back to pan. Pour in tomato basil sauce, toss to combine. 4. At this point, your spaghetti should be al dente. Add zucchini noodles to pasta & cook for 60 seconds. Drain pasta/zoodles and place back in pot. Pour shrimp and vegetable mixture into pot & toss everything to combine. Add fresh herbs and give it a final toss. Top with parmesan cheese & serve!

Fishing Report Warm weather and warm water presents a new strategy for successful hookups this month. Inshore success starts at daybreak preferably from a week before during and after a new moon. That is when large Snook patrol the channels and passes for their favorite quarry like large live shrimp and threadfins. We find best results with 6 feet of fluorocarbon leader and a small swivel. No weight or float that will only catch you a bunch of floating grass. Don’t be surprised if you hookup to a rogue Redfish, they are on patrol as well. Once the Sun has risen and the thermometer begins to rise the fish hunker down and become lethargic. Plenty of sharks inshore this month. Float a live bait out on a wire leader around sunset and a battle will occur quickly. Offshore fishing has been fun and productive this year with reports of big fish being caught not far from shore. Exceptionally warm weather however will push these fish farther out this month so be prepared for a little longer run. If you’re willing to make the run though it will be worth it. We have had a lot of success on large rock structures and wrecks using live or frozen bait. Our target fish generally is the yummy Grouper and alongside this great table fare are American Red Snapper, Amberjack, Cobia, Hog Snapper and Blackfin Tuna. You will find the best results this month in 60 to 80 feet of water. We troll using a stretch 30 and a large silver spoon before we anchor up on the structure. When anchored up we drop 8 oz. rigs with 5 feet of 150 lb. fluorocarbon leader and a #6 to #8 circle hook baited with live pinfish or live or frozen threadfins. These bottom rigs will hook you up with grouper, snapper, cobia and Amberjack. Set out at least one large flat line spinning rig with 40 to 60 lb. line with 60 lb. fluorocarbon and a stinger rig. A large pinfish on this rig will create a battle with Amberjack, Cobia and Blackfin Tuna. A sure bet inshore for the entire family is chumming the water for the tough but fun shark. Start chumming and catching pinfish around 5 or 6 pm. Use 3 or 4 feet of wire leader for these toothy critters and start floating your rig out in the tide before sunset. You will be busy for a couple hours and have a blast. Handle with care and use a long nosed pliers for hook removal or just cut the line at the hook. If they are over 3 feet cut the line anyway. No one needs a 4 foot pissed off shark snapping at everyone. Enjoy and good luck! Check the size limits on your catch before putting on ice. Best source is myfwc.com and

FootGolf is the newest rage at Seven Springs Golf and Country Club in Trinity. The object of the game is to kick a #5 regulation soccer ball into 21-inch holes along a 9- or 18-hole course, in the same manner as one would play a standard golf match, only without the clubs. The player using the fewest number of kicks at the end of the game wins. SSGCC has adapted their 18-hole Challenger course for FootGolfers. Tee times for FootGolf are 11AM until 6PM, and are available seven days a week. The same rules apply for FootGolf as for traditional golf. You have the option of renting a cart, or walking the course for a nominal fee. Considering FootGolf is usually played with groups of up to four people, it makes a great way to celebrate birthdays, host fundraisers and corporate outings, and compete in league play. APPLE PRINT BAG Apples aren’t just for eating. The cut side of an apple half, dipped in candy-colored paint, can be stamped onto otherwise ordinary canvas tote bags and backpacks. MATERIALS • Apple • Knife • Paintbrush • Paint • Markers (optional) STEPS 1. Cut an apple in half from top to bottom. Make sure the cut is smooth and flat. Use a paintbrush to apply the paint evenly over the cut side of the apple. 2. With the apple half, cut side down, stamp the surface of the object you want to decorate. The more times you stamp, the less vivid the print will be, so reapply paint, or use the other half. 3. Use additional apple halves to print with different colors, if desired. Oh Opossum? My first encounter with an opossum was investigating a scratching sound on the ceiling over my bed. “Oh goody, rats!” I thought. So out came the ladder and up into the attic crawl space I went. After moving the Christmas decorations out of the way, my flashlight caught the glow of two eyes peering at me. Too big to be a rat, I angled my flashlight to get a better look. It was an opossum. Now just how did that large animal get into my attic. We finally caught it going up the cover kit for the air conditioning lines. We waited until we knew the opossum was out for the night scavenging and sealed the opening with wire mesh. With its access closed, the opossum moved on.
Today our wildlife garden is located in the perfect area for opossums. We have seen them at night. We have seen them stand their ground over feeding rights with the raccoons at the bird feeding stations. And we have even seen the juveniles during the day. I welcome the opossums into my garden as they act like my little cleaning crew, eating leftover seed and nuts so the bird food never goes bad. I always know when I have been visited as they cannot digest the shells and they regurgitate soft little pellets on the feeders. Not only good for cleaning up my feeders, they also dine on over ripe fruit and veggies, insects, cockroaches, slugs, snakes, rats and mice. This makes them a welcome addition to any neighborhood. Opossums tend to be transient by nature, rarely taking up permanent residence in one location. This makes trapping unnecessary. And, unlike raccoons, the chance of an opossum carrying rabies is extremely rare.

The Virginia Opossum is Florida’s only marsupial. Their young, anywhere from 7 to 11 tiny ones, will stay in the female’s pouch where they nurse for a period of about 80 days. Sadly, when a female opossum gets hit by a car, if there are babies in her pouch, they will surely die unless rescued by an animal shelter. Once old enough to leave the pouch, they hitch a ride on mama’s back. In another 15 to 20 days they will be able to be on their own.

A Story of Animal Abuse and One Kitten’s Survival Gone Viral

What kind of individual nonchalantly throws a three-week-old kitten from a moving vehicle? Or causes severe chemical burns to an innocent cat’s body? Or shoots a dog twice and tries to finish him off by dragging him behind an automobile? These are, obviously, individuals with cold hearts and no sense of compassion for defenseless, living creatures. It is absolutely appalling and heartbreaking for animal lovers everywhere.
Joanna said, “(April) is thriving still. She is still fighting with some ongoing issues that will probably be with her for the rest of her life, like a respiratory problem and an infected left eye. But we hope she outgrows these issues as her body matures and her awesome kitty immune system becomes stronger. Other than that, she has gained a couple of pounds and rules the roost!”
Fortunately, for these animals and so many others, people with very huge hearts and abundant amounts of love and compassion save abused fur babies every day from certain death.
April has two sisters she enjoys chasing around her new home, and she also has her own Facebook page, simply titled “April’s Page”, for all of her fans and followers who want to keep up with her progress.

Animal abuse like April’s is horrifically prevalent throughout America. If not for the humane acts of everyday people, veterinarians and their staff members, SPCA Suncoast staff and volunteers, and those of animal shelters and rescue organizations throughout the United States, thousands of stories like April’s would not have such happy endings.
Thanks to a local Good Samaritan, the kitten tossed from the car was immediately recovered, when the woman saw the poor baby feline flailed helplessly to the side of the road like a piece of trash. This kind-hearted person took the abandoned, abused kitten to SPCA Suncoast, where they did what they do best: attended to the many needs of this sick, injured kitten. “April” was the name chosen for this sweet kitty, because the month of April is themed Animal Abuse Awareness Month. Quite fitting, don’t you think?

Celebrate with Your Pup Grain-Free Peanut Butter and Banana Pupcakes
What are pupcakes you ask? They are dog-friendly cupcakes that are much healthier than our own version of the delicious treat.
Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
This pupcake recipe is grain-free, made with nutritious coconut flour that is phenomenal for the dog’s skin and coat. If you want to make the wheat flour version of this pupcake recipe, substitute 1/2 cup of coconut flour with 1 cup of whole wheat flour.
3. In a large bowl mix the peanut butter, eggs, bananas, cottage cheese and honey. Mix in the coconut flour and baking soda. Mix well.

4. Use two spoons to drop dollops of dough into the muffin cups and fill the cups 3/4 of the way. 5. Bake for 20-25 minutes. 6. Let your dogs lick the spoons clean. (Very important step!) 7. In a small bowl cream together the cream cheese, oil and peanut butter. 8. Place in the fridge for 10 minutes. 9. Let the muffins cool then ice the pupcakes and place freeze dried liver treats on top. 10. Serve, and enjoy the delight on their faces as they chow down! Dear Yappy, I am having problems potty training my new puppy. She doesn’t let me know when she has to go out. What can I do? I’m at my wits end. Cathy S. Supervision is one of the keys to success and that means knowing where your dog is and what they are doing at all times. You must also be consistent and have lots of patience. You need to watch the puppy and keep it with you. If you can’t keep it with you then you need to confine them. Confining can be crate training, a puppy safe room or a playpen. Some of the times they will need to go are as follows: 1. First thing in the morning 2. After eating 3. After drinking 4. After waking 5. After exercise or during 6. After you remove him from the crate 7. Any other time he acts like he needs to “go” Watch their body language for sniffing, circling, arching the back, and or the tail over the back, and squatting. Try to use the same door and use a word like “outside”. As they go use a word like “go potty”. Praise them immediately when they finish. Take them out often.
