ROSANNE CASH Idiosyncratic and innovative, Rosanne Cash has built up her own legacy far beyond the recognition of being the daughter of the late, great Johnny Cash. Ms. Cash has fought the conventions of traditional country to develop a sound and spirit that is uniquely her own—paying homage to her rustic roots, yet expanding the limits by which her music can be defined. For much of her eclectic career, the Grammy-award winner has sought to spread her wings beyond the confines of the country music genre—infusing her rich and soulful tunes with influences from pop, rock, soul, and R&B. And the deep reflection her music has on her identity and origin has never failed to please critics and the public. Set into motion by her self-titled album in 1978, this extraordinary songwriter’s career has been glittered with charttopping singles and fan favorites which dance across musical genres—including “Seven Year Ache” and “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me.”

At his performance at IU Auditorium, the king of late night returns to his stand-up comedy roots for an evening of yuks, guffaws, and downright fun. DENNIS JAMES HOSTS HALLOWEEN The world’s greatest cinema organist is coming back to his alma mater to give one of the most exhilarating performances in IU Halloween history. Spice up your Halloween with one of the most unique theatrical events around as IU alum Dennis James accompanies the playfully spooky 1924 silent film The Hands of Orlac!

With his virtuosic organ and theremin artistry, James has built his reputation as the most acclaimed film accompanist—using musical instruments and electronic sound effects to triple the thrill of silent films. His dynamic music becomes the centerpiece of every screening, for which he has received numerous standing ovations. With his one-of-a-kind musical mastery and on-stage charm, James has ignited multiple Halloween seasons at IU, never failing to impress movie fans. The Hands of Orlac follows the tale of a famous concert pianist who is severely injured in a train wreck that fractures his skull and mutilates his hands. After having his ruined hands replaced with the hands of a recently executed murderer, the pianist falls into melancholy, constantly questioning his sanity. Who is that strange man who is shadowing him? Why do his hands seem to have a life of their own? Following the psychological melodrama style and avoiding horror clichés, the movie features marvelous set pieces and a mesmerizing performance of Conrad Veidt as the frantic Orlac. This family-friendly event is a Halloween experience like no other. ANYTHING GOES All aboard for the saucy and splendid new production of Anything Goes—winner of three 2011 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and Best Choreography. One of the greatest musicals in theatre history, Cole Porter’s first-class musical comedy is sailing across the country and pulling into port at IU Auditorium this November. STRAIGHT NO CHASER If the phrase “male a cappella group” conjures up an image of students in blue blazers, ties, and khakis singing traditional college songs on ivied campuses…think again. Straight No Chaser is neither straight-laced nor straight-faced. Tight vocals and loose humor have catapulted these IU-born musical masterminds from local legends to international superstars—leaving in their wake a slew of charttopping albums including 2008’s Holiday Spirits, 2009’s Christmas Cheers, as well as 2010’s With a Twist—which debuted on the Billboard 200 at #29.

This year saw the release of Under the Influence—SNC’s first full-length departure from holiday music, although it was followed by Under the Influence: Holiday Edition to satiate those craving more holiday-themed SNC hits. This high-octane album collection features guest appearances by stars including Paul McCartney, Colbie Caillat, Cee Lo Green, and Otis Redding. THE CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA Prepare to be dazzled by one of the most acclaimed performing ensembles in the world as The Cleveland Orchestra returns to IU Auditorium this January. Under the guidance of music director Franz Welser-Möst, this stellar ensemble is considered one of the world’s top orchestras—bringing their signature style to a repertoire that spans the breadth of the classical catalog. Also one of the largest orchestras in the nation, the 100-plus members of The Cleveland Orchestra perform together year-round in music festivals, residencies, at home at Cleveland’s Severance Hall, and in tours throughout the United States and around the world. The orchestra continues its steadfast commitment to artistic excellence, educational outreach, and community service through the ensemble’s biennial residency with IU’s own Jacobs School of Music—through which it will continue to teach and inspire the university’s top musicians in the days leading up to the IU Auditorium performance.

This season’s engagement brings with it a whole new experience for fans of the ensemble, as it is headed by one of the world’s most ˚ up-and-coming young conductors, Jakub Hruša—best known for his work as music director of the Prague Philharmonia—as the special guest conductor. The performance will also include a ˇ performance of Dvorák’s Violin Concerto with violinist and IU alumnus William Preucil as the featured soloist. RAIN: A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES Witness the world’s most beloved rock ‘n’ roll artists spring to life in this mesmerizing display of music, melody, and emotion. Standing out among more than 130 Beatles tribute bands around the world, Rain revives the Beatles sensation with look-a-like, sound-a-like performances that astound even the most versed of Beatles fans. The supreme musical talent and meticulous attention to detail displayed in Rain suspends all disbelief, and will transport Indiana audiences back to the 1960s—complete with the hair, costumes, and a full range of Beatles discography.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1975 by current manager and keyboardist Mark Lewis, Rain has since then attracted a major following. The band was discovered in the Broadway musical Beatlemania and was recruited by Dick Clark to record the movie Birth of the Beatles. Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles is a multimedia spectacular that takes the audience on a musical journey through the life and times of the world’s most celebrated band. The show ran on Broadway for 300 shows from 2010 to 2011, garnering praise for the cast’s spot-on appearance and sound. Rain performs all the legendary songs one hundred percent live onstage, paired with historical TV commercials and video footage from the 1960s to put the audience back in time of the Beatles. 4. Free and easy ticket exchange

Can’t make your scheduled performance? As a Gold Subscriber, you may exchange your tickets at the box office up to 48 hours prior to the show for a different season performance or event. The $5-per-ticket exchange fee is waived for Gold Subscribers. (If your new tickets cost more than your previous tickets, additional payment is required. Duplicate tickets cannot be exchanged. Only events in this season brochure are eligible for exchange.)

5. Sit with Friends service

This is a Gold Subscriber exclusive. If you’d like to be seated next to other Gold Subscribers, tell us the names of up to three other Gold Subscribers and turn in your orders together. There is an additional $10 fee per order for this service (see Frequently Asked Questions, page 34).

6. Purchase tickets for family and friends

Gold Subscribers can add tickets for friends and family to their order. If you know that your friends would be interested in seeing Jersey Boys, for example, simply add their requests to your order and extend your great subscriber benefits to them.

7. 50/50 Payment Option

Gold Subscribers are entitled to take advantage of the convenient 50/50 Payment Option in order to secure great seats. Just check the Payment Option box on the order form or online, and 50% of your total subscription order will be billed to your credit card when your order is received. The remaining 50% and an additional $10 handling fee will be automatically billed to your card on August 1, 2014.

Lost tickets will be reissued at no charge (saving $5 for each lost ticket).

Yes. There are two ways in which you can place this type of order. You can simply order all tickets on a single order form with one method of payment. Alternatively, if you are a Gold Subscriber (see page 32 for subscriber benefits) you may submit up to four order forms together with separate methods of payment. EACH order is charged an additional $10 service fee. All orders to be combined must be submitted to the box office at the same time, either in person or mailed together in the same envelope. Orders are filled according to the newest subscriber’s priority number.

What’s the difference between a Gold and Silver Subscription? A Gold Subscription is an order with at least one ticket to five or more event titles. Benefits include first priority seating, exclusive Sit with Friends service, and free ticket exchange (see subscriber benefits, page 32). Becoming a Gold Subscriber is the way to ensure you get the best available seats. Silver Subscribers order at least one ticket to one to four event titles. Becoming a Silver Subscriber ensures good seats, even if you only want to attend a few shows. Plus, you’ll avoid long lines and your tickets will be sent to your home address. (Note: Silver Subscriber orders will be filled in August in the order in which they are received. Prior to August, only seats for Gold Subscriber orders will be selected.) What if the seating area I select is sold out? If this happens, you will be contacted by our box office staff and provided with additional options. If you are placed in a lower-priced seating level, the difference in price will be refunded. What kinds of accessibility services are offered by the Auditorium? We strive to accommodate all of our guests. If you require wheelchair-accessible seating or have other special needs, please contact the box office at (812) 855-1103. Limited space in front of IU Auditorium around Showalter Fountain has been designated as accessible parking for those with handicapped permits. In addition, amplification headsets are available upon request at all performances. Large-print and Braille programs and audio descriptions are also available for each event with 14-day advance notice. For more information, please contact Guest Services at (812) 855-5739. How do I get the IU Bloomington student discount? Each IU Bloomington student with a current, valid CampusAccess student ID may redeem one student-priced ticket per event for their personal use. Simply ask for a student-priced ticket at our box office window, or mark the student-priced option when purchasing online. Although the student need not be present at the time of purchase, they will be required to present their student ID upon entry. Those without ID upon entry may be asked to return to the box office in order to upgrade their ticket for the general admission price. I’m a student, but not an IU Bloomington student. Can I still receive a student discount? We’re sorry, but only students enrolled on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University may use a student-price ticket to gain admission.

IU Auditorium collects $2.50 from each ticket sale for any event held at IU Auditorium and places it into a special account. Funds in this account are used for facility capital purchases and improvements. The funds are also used to pay for repairs and maintenance.
