Program Overview You will check in for your program in the Georgian Room, located at the top of the escalator on the first floor of the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU), between 12:15 and 12:45 p.m. At that time you will receive your personalized schedule for the two-day orientation program. Attendance is expected at all of the events described unless otherwise noted. The information in this packet will give you an idea of what events will be taking place in your program and will help you prepare for your academic advising appointment. After New Student Orientation, plan to stay on campus, as Welcome Week activities begin on Wednesday, August 24, and classes begin on Monday, August 29.
Day One Students and parents or family members will check in together at the Georgian Room in the IMU. Parents and students have separate programs to attend, but will reconnect with each other for a session during the late afternoon. Student attendance is expected at each session unless it is specified as optional. Bringing young children is not recommended, as the program is designed for adults. The program will conclude around 6:30 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to participate in evening social programming after required programming concludes for the day. In preparation for your advising appointment, you should visit the University Division website at ud.iub.edu/new-students and complete the Academic Interests Worksheet. Be sure to bring the completed form with you to campus for orientation.
You do not need to arrive early to test in mathematics or foreign language as these are built into your program schedule. If you have requested and have been granted testing modifications due to a diagnosed learning disability, please be aware that your check-in time may be affected. Your personalized email notification will provide additional details.
