New Student Orientation Fees

We encourage you to spend the night on campus during orientation. You will stay in Wright Residence Center with other new students and Orientation Leaders. You won’t want to miss out on the evening fun at NSO Late Night.

Student Fee The student fee is $135 and will be on your first tuition bill from the Office of the Bursar.

The fee is $35 per night (tax included), and it will be billed to your IU bursar account when you sign in for housing. No prior housing reservations are required.

Parent/Family Fee The parent fee is $30 for one person and $15 for each additional person and includes one set of materials per family. You can authorize parent fees to be included on your first tuition bill.

Parent/Family Options There are several options for parents and family members to stay in Bloomington. Check your student’s electronic confirmation, where you’ll find on- and off-campus accommodations and even special hotel deals.

Events and Schedule The timing of New Student Orientation (NSO) program sessions depends on whether you are assigned to Schedule A or Schedule B. Both schedules feature separate parent and student sessions, with a chance to reconnect during the late afternoon and evening.

• First day: Check in at Wright Residence Center at 8:30 a.m. Your program ends by 9 p.m., with optional evening programming following.

• First day: Check in at Wright Residence Center at 11 a.m. Your program ends by 9 p.m., with optional evening programming following.

• Second day: The second day is personalized for you and begins as early as 8 a.m.; you should be finished by 3 p.m.

• Second day: Final sessions continue through the morning. Your afternoon is personalized; you will be finished by 6 p.m.

Students or Parents with Disabilities

How to Prepare for Orientation Log in to FY(Me) to update and complete all of the items on your “To Do List” that need to be done prior to orientation. Items you need to take care of include:

If you or your parents need specific accommodations or have mobility limitations, contact us at fye@indiana.edu or (812) 855-HELP (4357) well in advance of your program so that we can give you information about services available at IU. Parents or guests needing additional help may want to bring along a family member or friend, as we don’t have staff available for this purpose.

Read the “Exploring Good and Bad Behavior” article included in this packet. Get ready for your academic advising appointment by completing the Academic Planning Worksheet in this packet. Pay overdue balances from any IU campus at least 24 hours before your arrival on campus. Pay close attention to the Health Information from the IU Health Center.
