TRA N S First Things First Now that you’ve been admitted to IU, there are a few things you need to do:

We’ll Be Your Guide You did it! You’re going to be an Indiana University Hoosier. We’re so happy you’ve decided to continue your college education with us. Changing schools is a big deal. You’ll be moving to a new town and making new friends. It’s a lot to take in but don’t worry, we’ll be your guide.

At IU we know how important your first year on a new campus is. We’ll help you get off to a great start with a transfer student version of our New Student Orientation, and we’ll be here for you all year long. We can’t wait to meet you!

Start watching your mailbox in March for your official New Student Orientation (NSO) invitation. It will tell you how to choose your preferred NSO date from the five transfer student programs available.

Next Stop: New Student Orientation How do you become an official Indiana University Hoosier? First, you come to Bloomington this summer to attend the required one-day NSO program designed specifically for transfer students. It’s a great way to connect with your new campus: you’ll learn what it means to be an IU student, you’ll meet with an advisor and register for classes, you’ll hear from an IU faculty member, and you’ll connect with current students.

Orientation for Parents/Family Your family is important to your success. That’s why your orientation includes a program just for parents and other adult guests. It connects them with IU resources, programs, and support services. They are also encouraged to check out our website: fye.indiana.edu.

While You’re Waiting We start taking reservations for New Student Orientation in March. Here are some things you need to do before then:

We’re Here All Year Your orientation program may be the first time you meet the staff of the Office of First Year Experience Programs, but it won’t be your last. We’re here for new students all year long. We host IUBeginnings trips and Welcome Week right before classes start, we keep in touch through social media and newsletters, and we partner with other IU offices to bring you a variety of events, academic support, and resources.
