You’re Invited!

14 NEW 20 S Good to Know ✮✮ Academics. NSO includes presentations by advising staff and professors. You’ll meet one on one with an academic advisor, plan your course schedule, and register for classes. ✮✮ Hoosier Life. We’ll help prepare you for college with information about roommates, safety, career planning, involvement, and much more. ✮✮ Placement Exams. You will need to take your math and foreign language placement exams online prior to NSO. You can also take optional exams for placement or possible credit toward your degree. Your NSO confirmation will include links and deadlines.

✮✮ Housing. We hope you’ll spend the night on campus during NSO. Your first day goes well into the evening and we don’t want you to miss a thing. Choose to stay on campus overnight and you’ll be where the action is, including our popular NSO Late Night, featuring the Campus Legends Tour. ✮✮ Travel. Make your travel plans after you receive your electronic confirmation. After May 20, watch your U.S. mail for your preparation packet with final information and your parking pass.

What to Expect New Student Orientation (NSO) at IU is required for all new students. You’ll learn about IU services, resources, and opportunities; you’ll make decisions about the upcoming year; and you’ll meet other students. It all happens over two days on campus in June and July—make your reservation now for the most date options.

Follow the directions. You’ll see only the dates available to you based on your academic program and needs.

Be sure to update your profile and provide an email address for your parent or guardian.

If you or a guest will need accommodations for a disability or mobility concern during NSO, please let us know when you place your reservation. We will contact you to help you make arrangements.

Check your IU email for your NSO confirmation and read it carefully. It includes: • Information about your required exams.

• Instructions for other items you must complete before NSO. • Details about travel, parking, meals, and accommodations during NSO. Can’t get to IU this summer? In the reservation system you can request information about the August program, which takes place just before fall semester.

Orientation Fees The NSO fee is $145 and will be billed to you with your first IU tuition billing. The parent/guest fee is $30 for one person ($15 for each additional guest) and includes one set of materials. At check-in, you can add guest fees to your IU bill.

Program for Parents Parents and family are an important part of your IU experience and we have a program just for them.

They’ll get tips for helping you make the transition to IU and will learn about the resources, programs, and support in place for your success.

New Student Orientation is just one of the things you need to get ready for college life. We can help you organize all that you need to do—apply for housing and financial aid, set up email, complete forms, and explore online resources. Keep your to-do list updated in your FY(Me) page. Be sure to check your IU email often—many offices will send important information to that address.

✭ Welcome Week. Job fairs, open houses, CultureFest, Freshman Induction Ceremony— the days before fall classes start are filled with helpful, fun, and informative IU traditions.
